I've watched this tutorial approximately 873858 times. I made a queen sized Irish chain, my first "real" quilt, using this tutorial. I never thought *I* could do it, but Jenny's enthusiasm and "you can do it" attitude made me realize that I could! Thank you, Jenny!
+Samantha F That is amazing! I'm so glad that this tutorial was helpful for you! Thank you for watching AND sharing your experience!! Happy quilting! :)
Who would have thought that this Irish chain would be so easy? Jenny Doan has made my life long dream of being able to make a quilt a reality! I've been a seamstress for over 30 years and gave up the idea of quilting after one attempt many years ago. I believed that my lack of mathematics skills was the cause of my inadequacy. NO! I just never had the right instructions AND the right INSTRUCTOR with the PASSION that Jenny has to make the "mystery" of quilting open and available to ANYONE that wants to learn! I can't thank you enough, Jenny and can't wait to send you pictures of my first quilt I'm making for my grandson who is due to arrive next month!
I made this quilt 5 years ago for my sister. Today I am making one for my granddaughter-in-law. I found Jenny December 2015 and since then have made 27 quilts. Thank you Jenny for you videos.
Jenny, I’m like you, I love precuts and quick and easy quilts. I have made 6 double cut layer cakes and I loved the red, white and blue star quilt, even made your small one too. Now I’m going to start this single Irish chain in a king. I hope you will do some of theses when you are gone. God Bless
You're just so wonderful to create this great tutorials, Jenny - you're creating a whole new generation of quilters who don't have mom or grandmom to show them how to quilt! Thank you!
I took classes and made quilts 15 years ago. I looked at the books I have and couldn't picture the tricks in my simple brain. These tutorials are wonderul....and there are so many short cuts of pre-cut fabric now...I can't wait to make my quilts for family members. I'm incorporating clothing from my sweetheart, whom I lost 3 months ago. Thank you for posting these wonderful videos.
I just can't sew fast enough! Every time you publish a new tutorial I go nuts trying to figure out where to fit it in! I love this pattern. And I do have to say that I am pretty new to quilting and I love the simplicity of your tutorials. Makes me think I can do it!
I absolutely love Jenny!!! She is adorable and just oozes talent and creativity! She is a true giver to the quilting world and so motivational. If I lived in Missouri I would beg for a job in her shop. Thank you Jenny :)
I just enjoy so much how the most complicated thing is made to be so much fun. I have only been quilting for a short time now. I have read and viewed many other tutorials on quilting. BUT I always come back to Missouri Star Quilting Company. Thank you for making quilting/retirement FUN!!!
I love your tutorials. Since I am a long arm quilter I have very little me time. With your great time saving steps I am able to create quickly and now I have some me time. Thank you.
You are totally awesome, I had plan to do one for my granddaughter and now I wont be to scared to start on one, It's because this quilt at one point looked so hard. But Thanks to you im ready and willing. God bless.
I have wanted to make one of these for years but was always too intimidated. I LOVE your tutorials. You have made so much possible for me. I am making quilts I never thought I could, because of you and your tutorials, your methods. Thank you SO much !!!!
Thank you Jenny for this tutorial. It is my favorite for a few reasons. The first one is because about a year ago I went and bought about six different printed fabrics that matched colors in my family room. They matched, but did not have that "blend/contrast" affect (because i'm I newbie and didn't know), so this quilt is elegant, yet scrappy, so now I can finally make me a couch quilt. The second reason this is my favorite is because I've heard you mention "seams nesting" and didn't really know what you meant, so I couldn't make sure I was improving on my quilting. But in this video I finally realized it. I made my first block and OMG....The points/seams/squares whatever you call it was perfect! My block is so pretty! I can't stop looking at my ONE block!!! lol Can't wait to do more, but I have to go to bed. My housework will never get done now!
I'm a beginning quilter, so I've been looking for my first "big" project after i finish all my baby quilts and I think this will be it! I've fallen in love with this channel and how Jenny makes everything look so easy!
We hope you have fun creating your Irish Chain Quilt, Alexis! Feel free to share photos of it with us on our Facebook or Instagram using #msqcshowandtell!
Thank you for your wonderful tutorials. Because of you I am enjoying quilting as never before. The Irish Chain will be my next project. Thanks for all you do.
Hi Jenny. Greetings from Ireland. Am confined to bed at the moment with the flu. Just wanted to say that your tutorials are absolutely fantastic! I am a quilting 'newbie' and I have learnt so much about the subject from you over the past few days! Thank you SO MUCH! I can't wait to get back to my sewing machine to start quilting!
Jenny that is such a Beautiful quilt! Now I've got another one to add to my list of MUST do projects. Thanks so much for making these difficult quilts so easy with the precuts!
Wilma Sartain: This is my latest venture and I am loving it. God bless Jenny Doan, because she presumes we know nothing when she starts giving instructions. I knew nothing, and each quilt pattern requires many replays of her tutorials. My problem is knowing the exact size needed for a CA King quilt. I have only been quilting for 6 years, and 5 of those were spent making my own quilt tops. Jenny has been my best and almost only tutor. THANK YOU, JENNY.
Thank you so much Jenny! I always looked at the Irish Chain and thought it must be difficult, but thanks to you I know I can make one now. You are such an inspiration to all of us quilters. By the way I love your new short hair cut and the color is fabulous!
Just to give you an idea of the amount of fabric this is, I bought 2 printed jelly rolls and 2 white jelly rolls and 2 yards of white fabric. I prepared the strip sets and squares as instructed. From these I constructed a quilt top that is 12 squares wide and 13 rows long using white and colored squares. That is a top about 72×78 inches. I am using 25 colored squares more than that to make a baby quilt when I get more white fabric. I still have 90 colored squares left over. That would make another quilt using about 180 total squares. I love the way they chain. Very pretty.
My first Irish chain I bit off the whole caboodle. I did the double Irish chain. It was easy but very tedious. Jenny makes even tedious projects fun! 😃
Jenny, I love the simplicity of the quilt. I was thinking what a cute baby quilt this would make with a honeybun! The solid would have to be cut, but I just might try it that way. I find this kind of sewing very relaxing. Thank you. Meg
Give it a try. It is so easy and looks so complicated. Using the strip method is the only way to make 9 patches. Jenny's Big Star is also great to make. I just made two of those for my daughter and just finishing the quilting on mine. Made matching draperies also.
What a great video I made an irish chain quilt but wow this is a much simpler quicker way. I'm making a green mix for my irish friends...cant wait to start this way. Thank you once again....😊
I love this tutorial. So easy to understand and great close-up camera shots so I don't have to guess what I'm being shown. Beautiful fabric. Thanks for the excellent information.
I too have watched this & MANY other tutorials that Jenny does a zillion times. I am so glad that you give of your time to help us make our lives & someone else's (the ones who get the quilts we make) just a little more beautiful
OMG! That looks good. I was trying to see how that was done when I was looking at a show on tv one day. Thanks so much. I think this would be great for me to do for my grandson since I am just starting out. Thanks so much.
I thought I'd seen all of your tutorials, but this one is new to me. I may just do this one after our guild's quilt show is over! Still planning a road trip to Hamilton in the near future, love your new store and can't wait to get back!
Nagyon jó ötletet adtál! Köszönöm szépen! Éppen hasonló takaró varrását terveztem. Nem is gondoltam, hogy ilyen egyszerű az öt kocka összevarrása! További jó munkát és sok szép videót kívánok.
Could you please do tutorials on a double Irish chain and a triple Irish chain also. I would love to make them as I have finished making your single Irish chain. Thanks
Wonderful video I was look at a pattern for the irish quilt my goodness it' like reading another language very complicated .... love your quick easy method on everything!! youwere born for this and a total natural at it and in the camera! take care Jenny!
I wish I had seen this video before I had made my Irish Chain Signature quilt for mom's 80th birthday. You definitely have a few hints I could have used. But it makes a wonderful celebratory quilt.
I made this in a lap size quilt out of my scraps so each 2 1/2 inch squares was cut individually. I made it for a school Gayla to raise money. I'm so excited that it went for $1,000. 🥰
I love your tutorials! Sometimes I just sit and watch them, just for the fun of it. But today I'll start my very own Irish Chain Quilt - need a break from my Baby Jane ... :-)
I was so excited to see this video in my feed. I have been waiting for another video from you guys. The one thing I didn't get a chance to learn from my Grandmother was quilting. I haven't yet made a quilt but am hoping to get the courage to do one soon.
Excellent tutorial, but the yardage requirements are way off as others have commented. I was writing out a pattern for myself and discovered the error. So watch the video for how to make the 9-patch block and put the quilt together, but calculate your own fabric measurements based on your desired size before starting. No matter, I still love Jenny!
Jenny eres genial, disfruto muchísimo aprendiendo de tus tutoriales los cuales hacen este trabajo, sencillo y de fácil aprendizaje. Gracias, siempre gracias
Jenny, thanks so much. You did it again! As I am new at this, I have been trying to figure out which one I will do. I love this one. It is beautiful. I also like the autumn colors, You make eveything look soooo easy. :)
Love the tutorial. I wish you had a tutorial for a DOUBLE IRISH CHAIN Quilt. I just finished the Quatrafoil quilt with your tutorial (Love it), now I need to make two king sized DOUBLE IRISH CHAIN Quilts for sons.
I love steam and I am so happy with my Janome! I only use a walking foot when I remember I have one...haha! But when you are quilting, it is a good idea!
I've watched this tutorial approximately 873858 times. I made a queen sized Irish chain, my first "real" quilt, using this tutorial. I never thought *I* could do it, but Jenny's enthusiasm and "you can do it" attitude made me realize that I could! Thank you, Jenny!

+Samantha F How many jelly rolls for a queen size, and how much background, and backing fabric did you use?
Thank you.
same here. my first quilt was also a queen size Irish chain using this tutorial!

Amen, sister! That was me too. When I saw my first Missouri Star video it was like the light bulb coming on! She’s the best.
I made this quilt 5 years ago for my sister. Today I am making one for my granddaughter-in-law. I found Jenny December 2015 and since then have made 27 quilts. Thank you Jenny for you videos.

i have watched several tutorials for Irish Chain and yours is the most efficient and logical!
I just can't sew fast enough! Every time you publish a new tutorial I go nuts trying to figure out where to fit it in! I love this pattern. And I do have to say that I am pretty new to quilting and I love the simplicity of your tutorials. Makes me think I can do it!
This is one of my bucket list quilts. All the classics really. It's simple but so pretty.
Jeni i am right handed and cut just like you. I love your videos. This is how i learned to quilt.. Thank you for your tutorials.
i love Irish chain when it is so simple Jenny you are a great teacher

+Missouri Star Quilt Company lovely
Liz Reilly how to quit as you go
I just finished my very first quilt using this tutorial - a king size Irish Chain. Jenny's simple instructions made it very do-able!! Thank you!!
The simplest patterns are always the most pleasing to my eye. This is indeed lovely!
I’m making this pattern out of scraps from another quilt. Jenny makes it so easy to understand.
9 years later and this is still my favorite!
I love your tutorials. Since I am a long arm quilter I have very little me time. With your great time saving steps I am able to create quickly and now I have some me time. Thank you.

Glad we could be part of your wonderful journey into quilting, Carrie!
I love the graphics on this that shows how the squares go together

Your store in Hamiliton is GREAT! your sales clerks are very friendly and helpful. It is a great asset to the community!

Love to watch you teach us Jenny. At first it’s hard to see how this tutorial will lead to that beauty up on the wall!💕

Once again Jenny!!!! Too many projects I can't keep up..... You still are awesome!!!!

I been watching this video for a long time. I'm so excited to begin. I'm almost finished with Misty's into the woods 🥰😅🥰😅
that iron was SICK! I would love to make this for my daughters, I am new to sewing and your instructions were so clear.
My first Irish chain I bit off the whole caboodle. I did the double Irish chain. It was easy but very tedious. Jenny makes even tedious projects fun! 😃

That iron lifts itself up!! How cool!
Jenny what a fabulous idea!!! But it's so effective!!!!! Thank you so much....
SEW (SO) EASY BUT FAB PATTERN. GREAT VIDEO JENNY, LOVE THE TIPS. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. X
I made this quilt at a retreat in Tabor City, NC over the weekend. Love, love, love it!!!
Give it a try. It is so easy and looks so complicated. Using the strip method is the only way to make 9 patches. Jenny's Big Star is also great to make. I just made two of those for my daughter and just finishing the quilting on mine. Made matching draperies also.
