I love the simplicity of the scrappy Irish Chain quilt! The result really looks more complicated than it really is. My first queen size quilt was a 2-colour double Irish chain made before rulers and rotary cutters. It was pieced from hand-cut squares. I hand quilted it 1/4” on either side of each seam, while sitting on the floor with the quilt pinned to my jeans! This tutorial has inspired me make a a crappy Irish Chain lap quilt for my new trailer. I’ll quilt it with my new-to-me Baby Lock Shashiko machine. It will be done in no time at all! Thank you, Jenny, and all the wonderful Missouri Star staff! Stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
I bet that I have watched that original Irish Chair video at least two dozen times over the years. It’s been on my quilting bucket list since you first filmed it, but somehow I have yet to make it. You have inspired me to move this one to the top and I am committing myself to completing the Irish Chain quilt in 2023! Happy 15th Anniversary MSCQ! ❤
That original video is why I wanted to learn to quilt. I wanted to make the Irish Chain. I have made it and it is on my bed. Happy 15th Anniversary MSCQ!
Jenny, you are the reason I became a quilter. You made me realize that I could do it! Thank you. I and all my loved ones have been blessed because of it.
I am a great fan of your Missouri Star community. Your "Triple Play" videos are absolutely SUPER. I just want to help young people fall in love with the art of quilting. Sewing is my most exciting place to be. Keep up the good work; All of you...and your teams behind the scenes. Congratulations on your 15 yrs, and may you continue to be innovative. (BTW-my location is Ponce, PR.)
Wow, Jenny! The video has been released less than an hour and approaching 2k views! An old, beautiful quilt pattern. And we appreciate you so very much!
Leaning out my mom’s house and I found 3 totes FULL of vintage fabric (and several UFOs made from feed sacks!!). This will be a perfect quilt pattern for this fabric!
Oh Jenny! It’s so exciting to know that you are redoing some of your original quilt tutorials! I have watched from your very first video and having them redone will be wonderful. Although- the vintage videos make me smile- you have come sooo far and developed a wonderful UA-cam channel. I follow you on every platform. Thank you!
Being a fairly new quilter at 74 next week, I have not gotten to this one yet, but I hope to soon. I have stuck to log cabins, rail fence and around the block. I need to challenge myself to spread my wings more. Thank you so much for all you do to inspire us all. I love all your videos, but this is one of my favorites. Enjoying you from NE Tennessee...
I love this video, I always viewed the Irish Chain from afar, but this video inspired me to get back to quilting and I have 3 rows completed so far. Thank you Jenny for sharing this.❤
Bugger. Can you imagine, postcard panel blocks, and great for a signature in the blanks. You have my mind going in many directions. I love it when you challenge me.
Thanks for re-doing this tutorial, Jenny. You’ve reminded me that I want to make this design for my friend of Irish descent, in the bright colours she likes. I think if I use brightly-coloured thread 🧵 and a very interesting quilting pattern, the solid Kona Snow I have enough of will work great as the background!
Jenny, I've been a fan since the old tv days and i LOVE the old, traditional quilts and I'm so glad you are doing this! This one will be done with my 7 rear old granddaughter as her first 9-patch. 🥰
I started stitching in 2019 and I watched all of the old vids. They were inspiring then as all the MSQ vids are now. Thank you Doan family and MSQCo staff for all the greats of the past, present, and the next 15 years.
♥️♥️ I remember the old video and still enjoy watching tutorials!!! Thank you so much Jenny. It been great growing older ( and wiser 😂😉) with you and your family!!! ♥️♥️
For Jenny especially rn- you have been a true inspiration & blessing to me since I started my own quilty journey around 7-8yrs ago. Being often housebound, it’s been your tutorials & teaching style that helped teach me, from ‘nesting’, to binding ! A most sincere “Thank-you” to you & your precious family, for all the years of videos, help & amusement. You are all stars! Might you continue for *many more years, be a blessing to those who come across your site, & be blessed in return☺️🙏🫶 Nicki x
Jenny, I was at the Stitch Festival in London recently and attended a workshop. I was amazed that other people on the there had never heard of you. They have now. I am making this quilt for one of my neices. I want to tell you I think you are the queen of quilting I love you and how you are so real in your tutorials. " To the dark side " always makes me laugh.
Thank you Jenny - for 15 years of fun and inspiration! You have helped me so much with my quilting. I love how you teach! This quilt gets started tomorrow! 🥰
It can't possibly have been 15 years! I still remember the first time I came across one of your videos and was absolutely charmed. It's been a joy watching you prosper.
Congratulations on your 15 years and all the great tutorials you have shown us Jenny. The first one I made watching you was a jellyroll strip one. I still love it. Thanks for all the inspiration.
This was posted just in time. I was cutting out some 2.5 inch squares for a planned scrappy irish chain quilt as a bonus quilt / leader ender for in-between a quilt for a woman who will be turning 80 this year. God bless
This is a brown bag quilt as Eleanor Burns would say. After you cut up the strip sets, put them into 2 brown paper bags. Shake them up, and pull out one of each. This is a great tip for people like me that would sit there for ages trying to pick the "perfect set" to sew together lol.
I love the Irish chain and I love the way you demonstrate your skills and simplicity of your skills. I have made several of these quilts over the years. May I take this opportunity to congratulate you all at the Missouri Star Quilt Company celebrating your 15 years of being a "sewciable" patchwork company.
What a bright cheery Irish Chain quilt, I'm adding it to my 2023 bucket list. I learned to quilt almost 10 years ago by watching Jenny's videos. Visiting MSQC in 2017 with my daughter is a cherished memory. Congratulations to MSQC on 15 years!
I've been cutting part of my scraps into 2 1/2" squares to make "whatever" with! After seeing this, I may have to get some background yardage to make this with them 💗💗
OMG!!! Can't be 15 yrs. I love puzzles and I was always fascinated by how it was done with fabrics. You taught me how and have enjoyed the journey. Thank you for being my teacher. How time flies when you are doing something you 💕. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
This was the first quilt tutorial I watched and then made for my aunt,12 years ago! I’ve been a loyal fan ever since that video! Congratulations and keep on quilting! Your awesome!!
Happy 15 years Anniversary .🤗 Jenny you have aged well and are still lovely. I have enjoyed your tutorials, I have been inspired and motivated. Thank you 💓
I really want to make this quilt. I love it. Just ordered some jelly rolls from you in bright colors which will be perfect for this. I might embroider on some of the large squares to add a personal touch. Thank you for all the lovely tutorials.
Congratulations on 15yrs!!! The only thing I am thankful for during COVID other than our good health is.... I started quilting during that time. It is something I have always talked about doing. I have been sewing since I was about 10 to 11yrs old so I guess it was about time! Thanks for all the encouragement by you, Natalie and Missy! They really get your creative juices flowing! Thanks again!
My favorite block is the 9 patch. I have heard of the Irish Chain block but never seen how it was constructed, Thank you!!!!! This will be one of my next quilts. ❤
Jenny I have learned so much from you. Even after all the time I have been sewing, I still think "a few anchor stitches" as I begin. Watching your videos always brightens my day. You are a treasure.
Hi Jenny, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched your older video to be reminded how it was made or to fill my need for sewing even when it is not possible for me to sew. Thank you so much for your tutorial’s Jenny, I would not have attempted making a quilt. Thanks again Jenny for all you have done to help people❣️ Sincerely, Chris

Thanks. I got the email and wondered if it was legit!
Hello there, thanks for the update... I got one and thought, not the usual MSQ way... so have ignored it. Great that you caught it so quickly.
I also received it and was positive it was junk! It’s terrible that some people want to trade in the reputation of an excellent company!!!

I love my 2 1/2" x 8" ruler. I use it all the time.
Happy Anniversary! ❤

I just love your sewing machine hmm sound I wish my machine sounded like that.
I love this quilt and have made several over the last 15 years. You still have your down to earth humor…don’t die over it. I love cutting up with you.

The first quilt pattern I bought in the 80's was the Eleanor Burns Irish chain. I've still never made one. Think this must be remedied! Thanks Jenny!!
I saw a striped fabric in a store today & thought, "Jenny would use that for binding."
Irish Chain and Jenny - Both timeless beauties!
I love this video, I always viewed the Irish Chain from afar, but this video inspired me to get back to quilting and I have 3 rows completed so far. Thank you Jenny for sharing this.❤
