With this partscaster project I want to build something special and unique with the visual style while keeping it pretty traditional with the rest.
In this video I make a lot of mistakes so that you don't have to.
You should pay attention and learn ;)))
I started out heavily inspired by Novo guitars by Dennis Fano - and my building philosophy is - not to reinvent the wheel- but rather try to learn from the greats.
I'm a guitar building beginner with my fourth guitar/partscaster build.
I built my first guitar under corona lockdown in the summer 2020 and guitar building kind of hooked me.

Michael, I've watched all your videos and really enjoyed them. This one is my favorite so far because I got so many tips on repairing mistakes lol. Lord knows I need all the help I can get with my builds. So, thanks for another great video.

Man I’m glad to hear you liked it. I thought it was pretty funny in the end with all the mistakes 🙄.
And you are right… you can learn a lot from mistakes… and it’s a bonus if it’s not yours 😉👍. Happy to be at your service 😂
Thanks so much for your support 😃🙏🏻

Thanks so much 😃🙏🏻. I have realised that what I am probably going for is something 90% will hate and 10% can’t live without 🥳…. Well maybe it’s more like 95/5 🤣
      Thanks man appreciate it 😉

I can relate so much to this 😄The "Really?! You gotta be kidding me", knowing when to stop before screwing up everything even more, oh and the wife saying "yes it looks straight", but deeply, you know she just wants to get it over with 😁(Actually, your tuners do look straight 😉). The finish step is really the worst, especially when playing with paint and clear coats, and I'm pretty sure many of us did cry in some occasion. You did an amazing job in the end, that headstock looks so special 🤩
Are you sure there's no cracks in the body? Maybe try that relic patina paste on a hidden spot to see if something pops out.

      🤣… It’s good to know I’m not alone 😅👍
Great idea with the relic patina - I will try that

I say leave the logo, it really adds to the personality. Plus a pristine logo with a relic'd head I feel would look a bit off. Also you could definitely find aged hardware to bring it all full circle. Just my two cents. Thanks for the video! Looking forward to the next one hopefully soon 🤞🤞

Thanks so much Spencer. I think I will let the logo stay as it is… you are right. I thought of researching how to make chrome look aged. Seen it many times but can’t remember what chemical they used.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting 🙏🏻👍😃

I think I've learned as much or more from my building mistakes...Just accept them as side-quests to the main quest. Someone once said"Experience is just having made all the mistakes already"

Super important to adapt that mindset
Thanks for the good advice and for watching 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏻😃

    Hi Michael,
Glad to see another guitar build journey taking off. Not sure if oiling the headstock was a good idea before painting/masking, but whatever. Seems that it turned out fine. Personally I would strongly recommend to try Osmo or similar hard oilwax finish. It's as easy to apply, but gives a better protected and still super smooth finish. Also many thanks for the template, a while back I managed to finish my Novo inspired build within 2 weeks time frame. It was pretty hectic to say the least, but I'm very happy with the result so far. Thanks for the videos and looking forward for more interesting content :)

Maybe you are right with the oil before masking… 🤔
Do you have pictures of your Novo-ish build? Would love to see 😉👍

Should you varnish an oiled surface with nitro varnish? What decal printing paper do you use? Thanks for greate video.

    • @MichaelLagerstedt
      @MichaelLagerstedt  8 місяців тому

I have put Nitro on a oiled surface on two guitars before and that worked fine. The decal paper was from a hobby store in here in copenhagen and is for laser printer. But I just researched it a little further. You can get decal paper much thinner than the one I used… also how about transfer paper like the ones you use for fake tattoos…??? Would that work?
I have to try that out.
      Thanks for watching 😃🙏🏻

Hej Michael, tak for dine fede videoer og idéer.

      😉👍
