  • This video is the full tele-partscaster build of the legendary Andy Summers telecaster with a built in boost and a phase switch. The hole build in one video.
I’m a big fan of The Police and Andy Summers so I set out to build a Partscaster inspired by Andy Summers Telecaster with phase switch and build-in boost. Enjoy the hole build from beginning to end.

I’m heavily inspired by Novo guitars by Dennis Fano - and my building philosophy is - not to reinvent the wheel- but rather try to learn from the greats.
I’m a guitar building beginner and I have been following The Great Guitar Build Off competition 2020. I learned a lot from the competitors and that inspired me greatly to build a guitar myself.
I built my first guitar under lockdown last summer 2020 and guitar building kind of hooked me.
You can watch first guitar build right here:
    • How I built my dream g...
I have bought a neck from GuitarAnatomy.com and the body is built of old pine wood floor boards from a house built in 1808.
Why is that a good thing? Because old wood is cool ... and also more resonant.
The point is to learn how to build great guitars. It can't be rocket science, but it's fascinating. My plan is to learn from the best by researching materials, components, and methods.

Thanks to the UA-cam algorithm, I was directed to one of your previous videos, and now watching this one. How does this channel not have more subscribers?!? Your videos are very informative, and done very well. I subscribed after the first video and am enjoying the content. Look forward to many many more!

    Beautiful build! 👌🏼.
Just an important thing: 10:45 the screws should have clearance in the body holes, otherwise it‘s impossible to pull the neck into the pocket. The threads should not grab in the body holes. Also with that little clearance, if you losen the neck screws a quarter turn after strung up, the strings will pull the neck tight in the bottom of the pocket. It helps for better sustain. 😊
    Cheers!🤘🏻

How many changes are needed from stock Telecaster to Andy Summers build ? Is it just the Pre - Amp ? Who did the original prototype ? Why did it take so long for people to figure this out ? Was the original builder an electrical genius ?

Hey Thanks so much for watching. I don’t have all the answers but a research on google should give you a lot of them.
You can see all the changes I made if you watch the hole build on my channel.
I installed a boost and a phase switch

I just want to get your opinion on Andy Summer's original Telecaster. He said he bought the guitar from a guitar student he was teaching while he was living in California back in the late 60's. After seeing the amount of work you put into creating the same guitar there is no way a kid back in the 60's is going to have the technical knowledge to do what you did. JUst getting the parts alone would be difficult. There was no internet and no UA-cam. What do you think? Am I wrong about that? Who would be putting in a mid boost? Has anyone tried to find out who this kid was and ask him about the guitar? Now that would be interesting. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Maybe his dad was an electrical engineer or something? Who knows. Can we believe Andy on his story?

Hey thanks for watching and for your comment 🙏🏻😃.
I’m not sure it was a “kid”. The guitar student could have been older. Also I’m not sure he installed the boost. He could have bought it like that or had someone make it. Some of the changes AS had made like the brass bridge.
Would be interesting to get more details on that but I don’t think we’ll ever get that. Did you see Rick Beato’s interview with AS? Amazing 🤩

@@MichaelLagerstedt Yeah great interview with Rick. Also saw another interview with Andy and I think there is going to be some legal action on his part to get a song writing credit on Every Breath You Take. Not sure if there are others. His part is so iconic and the song was not going to be included on the album until he came up with his guitar parts. It has been played over a billion times so lots of money at stake for Stingo splitting up the credits!!! I don't think Andy and Stewart got enough credit by Stingo for their contributions. Sting's songs after the Police were good but much more subdued. Would have been great to see what Andy and Stewart would have done with some of those songs!!!! So technically on what you did ....how hard would you rate it? You would have to be an experienced technician or a really good hobbyist? Were there any other people putting in mid boosts back then? Just curious. I think Clapton and Jeff Beck had them put in but later on I believe.

Great build ! Do you think the Aerodyne Telecaster with the Humbucker is close ? What modifications would it need ? I know the Aerodyne has 12 deg radius?

I’m not really familiar with Aerodyne Tele , sorry. So I can’t really answer that.

I know his guitar was given to him by one of his students for I think $ 200.00 ?/ Did the student do the original wiring? Apparently Andy never changed it from the way he got it !
