    Fun fact: In college I walked by my Spanish Professor's office with my Suicidal Tendencies shirt on. I heard "All I wanted was a Pepsi," from his office, I started laughing. Lol We've been friends ever since. 🤣😀❤❤❤

      That story is alot cooler than Fred Durst's reference. I'll tell you that much. It would have been more interesting if it was your English teacher though. Your teacher was a fan I take it? Still funny though. Suicidal is loved in the Spanish community. Even gangs like The Avenues, 18th street, Nortenos, Surenos, MM, and all the other clicks that put the #13 at the end of their gangs name. I always found that interesting cause there was a day.....I didn't know any Mexican gangsters liked that Thrash/Punk style of metal, or any metal for that matter really. I love that.

      He'll yeah, KROQ! The best alternative station (well, depending on the DJ and time slot. Rodney Biggenheimer (Rodney on the ROQ) was insanely great. Having been on The LA music scene for a long time he had the knowledge and always brought the best music on his slot. I always loved when played stuff from the Pebbles and Nuggets compilations. There was a lot of really good early punk and rock coming out during those years.

    This is a classic. Nothing else like it- ever. Suicidal was so unique. They had a sound that was a mix of thrash, punk, metal, and they had the whole latin influence of the hispanic band members as well. They were totally unique in music at the time. The band had LA gang ties- you can see the signs all over their videos- which caused alot of their shows to get banned and at times led to violence and riots. Suicidal shows back in the day were notorious and had that element of danger. They were an intimidating band.

    This song is the shit.
    Also, you need to find a store with that Mexican Coca Cola, in the glass bottles.
    That stuff is the same as I used to get at every corner store in the early 80s.
    Before they changed it frome Coca Cola, to New Coke, to Coke Classic, and then to just Coke.
    The Mexican stuff gets me all nostalgic.

    I grew up skating with a lot of the ST/Dog Town psycho’s at Marina Del Rey skate park in the late 70’s/early 80’s. When Psycho Mike started ST, they had a hard time getting gigs because of the ST crew, because they would always start fights at their shows (a lot of them were Venice-13 gang members). You never went to their shows by yourself, you always made sure you had your friends there, because chances were you’d get into a fight if you went into the pit (which is another thing, they’d cheap shot people and throw elbows). Punk rock shows weren’t tame like they are now, lol!

    When I was 14 I got locked up for almost two years in a troubled teen facility. One of the kids knew this song and we all became obsessed with it. I was already a wannabe gutter punk (it’s embarrassing how much of a try hard I was at 14), & this sht hit my vibe so hard.

      Not many people talk about that. They want to glorify the 80's.

    • @Comrade_mommy
      @Comrade_mommy 10 місяців тому +1

      @@peterbelanger4094 That’s the problem with nostalgia, you only removed the gold parts of the past and not all the crap that was going on. I was shipped off in the 90’a but my older sister in the 80’s. I think kids are still being sent away but instead of state run facilities it’s private ones. And religious ones. As unpleasant as the state facility I was in was, there were regulations that protected the kids. The horror stories I’ve heard of kids sent to private and religious institutions are horrific. I know my mom did what she thought was best but I would never send my kid away unless I thought she was going to hurt herself. Even then it would be the actual last resort. When you send your kid away you’re telling them that they’re to “bad” to be home.

    As an Gen X, in order to have friends, you had to hang out with some of their friends, who didn’t come from the best areas, or had the nicest things, but made the most of it, and later you adopted it as your style… point being back then , parents would see all that, and all of sudden they came up with their own conclusions about “ that’s a rough looking crowd, they have bad intentions etc” all while I met them at the school they sent us. Life was amazing back then.
