krist is so pissed off in this interview. imagine if kurt was there. he doesn't give a shit and would most definitely have expressed himself openly. would've been funny
oh yeah, kurt would have some great points, he'd make those censorers look like the insane people they are, but he wasn't there maybe because he wouldn't want to even bother with such lost people
Just watching this it's NO WONDER WHY Nirvana blew up!!!! Definitely an angry and misunderstood generation we were (and for good reason) I'm the same age as Krist and I think his thought process is excellent.
It's so amazing to see so many 'alternative' people and people just being themselves in this video. Everyone looks so authentic, we see that way too little these days. Subcultures are dead and we only have some sort of global pop culture with everyone being approximately the same.
Parents need to tell their children how the world really is. And I mean hardcore reality. Children will respect the adults that treat them and teach them how the world really is.
Lack of censorship does nothing but broadens the outlets of information you can receive. I think hearing more perspectives would lead to a broadened intelligence if anything.
Holy shit I cant believe this exists I had no idea Krist did this I don't know how he's not more well known Krist is a pioneer in life itself he's underground and mainstream at the same time.

Love that girl at 47 minutes quoting the clause. So intelligent. Good for her. Obviously too many variables in this issue. Oh, I miss the 90s in Seattle. What a great time in my life.
We knew...it was already underway just on a much smaller scale and largely text message boards (schools, universities) accessed via slow modems. That's part of what makes shaped Gen X's perspectives - having a foot in both the old world and the new.
I really like how calm these people are, from both sides. They don't offend each other, instead, they provide solid claims that counteract the other arguments. This is what every discussion should be like. Until Jason came... haha. But the best part was the unbiased talk show host.
In case anyone was wondering, Booth Gardner signed the law, but it was struck down by the Washington State Supreme Court as unconstitutional in Soundgarden v. Eikenberry in 1994.
The dude around 12:39 is a debate club knucklehead who is trying to practice arguments. Krist raises logical and common sense points. The knucklehead uses memorized facts as tactics to try and intimidate others. Krist is awesome.
It was definitely at the very least a demo in 1992, Kurt had already written most of the song by the time Nevermind was being recorded in 1991. You can easily find concerts in 91/92 where they perform it
I noticed that too. I think it’s because he speaks low and slow and kinda has a lag in how he talks that allows people to jump in with their two cents.
I can just imagine Kurt sitting on this stage not giving a crap what any of these people think of him or his music which is mostly likely why he was not there.
Krist perfectly expressed the libertarian attitude: I have my feelings about things, but they are secondary to my principals. I may disapprove of how you raise your kids but I believe in your right to raise them your way.
+Adam Smith I had no idea that's how it's pronounced. I've been listening to nirvana for a long time now and I refused to say krist's surname thinking I'll mispronounce it and look like a dumbass XD

I was so Proud that Nirvana came from my home town. The first time I saw the video for Smells like Teen Spirit, I flipped out! I was trying to explain to my then boyfriend; That's a Pep Assembly! Then, running into Krist at an Aberdeen Club during Thanksgiving while were both home to visit family. We gravitate towards eachother because it's obvious we are back from Seattle. It was great meeting him but, we were both pretty drunk. I am still so Proud of Nirvana. Proud of Kurt and Krist sharing how it was to grow up there. Sometimes it was such a Shithole.
Holy shit. I remember Ken Schram. this was from my local station. I was 13 years old. I remember this period vividly. I lived and still live south of Seattle.
“You have the right to record any album you want, but the community has the right to prosecute you” outright proves Krist’s point that it is censorship, what a total clown that kid Jason is
Thanks for sharing. Wouldn’t see it if outside of the US. Decent guy and no wonder he is having after Nirvana his way of life outside of this public life.
Krist is an intelligent guy, but it's funny that even back then he was designated the guy to tackle serious issues. Everyone in that band was funny and goofy as fuck, but Krist was the designated adult. Ha.
I like how krist was the only one who knew anything about voting, the candidates, who was in office, what they might do and where they might be headed.
Literally all of this could be solved with "pay attention what your children have and buy." Be responsible for your own kids when it comes to things like censorship. It shouldn't be a law, if it's something you specifically believe in for your specific child then it should only be a "law" in your household.
Not sure who this host is, but I have to give him props for the way he moderated this. Both sides seem to have gotten the same amount of time to explain their argument, he asked prodding questions to encourage the conversation more, and called out hypocrisies on both sides. I miss healthy debates like this instead of whataboutisms and gotcha moments.
The last few seconds of the video are amazing. A whole show was spent talking about the hOrRoRs of eroticism then the preview for the next show was about keeping your marriage erotic lol.
