I don't think people are really aware how much source 2 isn't going to change the issues with CSGO. Valve has split the player base over the years by refusing to properly address the cheating in MM causing people to use third party servers to play MM. They somehow managed to split the player base even more by adding match queuing options to their official servers so now a new player might have zero clue on what play or queue for. Valve's focus on VR projects has left almost every other title in the dust. I hope a Source 2 update isn't just going to be an Overwatch 2, but we'll see.
Tbf he doesn't share vital infos just yet. There are a lot of blurred out text in the video after all. With how close he is to valve atm i doubt he will overshare these info, just to keep good faith.

From everything I've seen so far it looks like source 1 will be able to 1:1 port to source 2 but that only works for supported community features, and modifying the raw files is definitely going to mess with that. The smallest updates to CS break their mod. No doubt s2 would cause complete destruction. The only hope is that cs source 2 would bring better tools and they could restart from the beginning using official tools provided by Valve.

Assuming they remade the game on source 2, that would be much, much more than a final digit change in terms of the version number. It would probably be 1.38 to 1.39 or even a 2.0 release, given how extreme a change like source to source 2 is (would also be thematic as it's source 1 to source 2.0)
I think hes removed it from one of his videos but it went something like this: "at this point its a joke they haven't added my music kit yet, so how about they only add it to confirm the release of counter-strike on source 2"

From a development perspective, it does not make sense to change the whole game engine with a minor version update. I would be really surprised if the change from 1.36.8.3 to 1.36.8.4 changes to source 2. I would expect 1.37.0 to bring source 2.
Gabe follower and tyler mcvicker content makes me understand valve more and more. Its not like average viewers of these informative channels came here just to get hyped.
Its not really for us but mostly for the developers and map makers to have newer tools that source 2 can bring. It could potentially improved workflow for the devs and can removed source 1 limitations.
source 2 aspects have already been implemented in csgo, its not what people think its going to be and people need to lower their standards of what they think its going to do
im hoping if even they fix source performance or release source 2 that people will be actually able to play at 40 fps without it feeling like its in 20 fps, I'm just praying for no gpu players
CSGO is one of the most optimized FPS games on the market, hell I'd be amazed if anything ran better than CSGO tbh. Games aren't meant to be run on a potato
@Merce Coll It runs DirectX 11 which ain't too bad for old hardware. They say it runs on like a GeForce 400 series so at least in that regard its possible. Should you use a 400 series? No. But theoretically the technology will run it. Also Rubikon *probably* won't cause any issues as CSGO barely uses physics anyway.
@@CabbageGod Yes and no. FPS in source 1 games has always been very unstable, you might run some areas on 200 and some on 80. And because S2 is based in DX11 instead of the ancient DX9 there almost certainly will be a performance again upgrading.
@Merce Coll There shouldn't be performance penalty. Even the difference between directx 9 to 11 is decades of rendering optimization. The bigger worry is what hardware the engine will support. Some systems could get hard locked out but I really don't think they will.
i think all big csgo content creators should call the community/playerbase out for a playing strike! Valve cares about the playernumbers, if we just stop playing and opening cases for 2 weeks we will catch Valves lazy attention, to show them how disappointed and angry we are about their 10th anniversary update... This update was a big troll and disrespect to the community: the cummunity made csgo big, the community makes the skins, the maps, the stickers, the community showed the passion and love for the game for 10 or even 20 years, the modding scene creates even new gameplay-modes like surf.. the community plays that game every day and opens cases every day, even the community made a s2 port within less then a year and i bet some passionate people in the community could develop an amazing operation within a month!! Valve is a big company and can't push out good content on a regular base? They cant develop a better anti cheat system? And im not even dreaming to ask about 124tic servers and a fixed matchmaking where you don't match against lobby of 100+ ping people with a fresh shady account?! Valve showed one more time their low effort mentality, they just try to push the borders of how far they can go without doing nothing and still cash out with max profit! The community must show a big signal to Valve, let's boycott the game untill they start moving and give us a 10 years update, that deserved to be called a good anniversary celebration update!
