test_vanity probably refers to "vanity items" which in csgo is basically skins. Would make sense to have a test map to iterate over all the existing skins to see if they still look correct.
I think the weird maps that they are them checking out all the various skins under different conditions to make sure they aren't janky. CSGO skins are probably by far Valve's most profitable product and a new version of the game MUST NOT change the look of the content of the players inventories. Think about it: people have given valve literally BILLIONS of dollars for their inventories, if they do anything janky regarding skins people will not be enthusiastic about Source 2

From what I've seen in the video, they are most likely porting parts of source 2 code into source 1 and optimizing th ecode. S2 at the end of map name indicates tests to see if materials work also, cause there are a lot of sandbox maps, such as "tileset shadows" which is most likely optimization in code tested on mentioned maps. If they are making new CS, it is most likely being done on new branch and locally. You would not be able to see that. Entering existing branch of CS:GO and testing stuff is part of being dev, and updating same game. So don't be surprised if there is no source 2 version of "global offensive", but just optimization in code, based on source 2.
There will NEVER be a new version of CS. It would make no sense to break the market and it would never come back to how it was since people would be scared of a new CS being made and losing all their money and we have remembere that it is after all a huge company a it needs profit and CS is one of the main ways of making it. Thet's why a port of Global Offensive is MUCH more probable since a new CS is basicly like shooting yourself in a knee.

Wow, looking back, it's insane how accurate these were. I mean the maps with s2 ending were the remade maps and the rest were simply ported for example. This also gives me hope that the rest of the maps that are still not in (eg. shoots or shortdust) and new content (also hinted in later videos) is still coming.
Semantic version, if that's what Valve is doing here, usually have the last digit be a minor update, so it's more likely that 1.36.8.4 just has a game breaking bug fixed compared to 1.36.8.3, but they're probably both Source 2. But, this version number is lower than the current branch (1.38.4.0), so it sounds like they probably haven't kept the Source 2 version in sync with the main branch, or the version numbers are an accident (1.36.x is probably just what they started with) and pretty much meaningless. I'd imagine the version numbers for when the Source 2 port releases will be 2.xx.x, engine ports tend to be breaking changes. Also, looked a bit deeper 1.36.4.0 was released on 6 July 2018, it was the Panorama UI update, so that points further to the S2 version just being based on 1.36.4.0 but they've just been incrementing it with that branch, so 1.36.4.4 on app ID 730 is a completely different version of the game compared to 1.36.4.4 appid 710, and I'm willing to bet all 1.36.4.x versions on 710 are Source 2.
its simple if they make better ant cheat, server 128tickrate, and bring back old maps (cobblestone, cache, train) now also tuscan, remove vertigo and ancient the game will be excited again to play.
1: better anticheat is difficult to create without it being invasive ( many people are not comfortable with such a large company having access to all their PCs files ) 2: Majority of players will not benefit from 128tick as most players fps is not over 128fps, this leaves valve with 2 options, create 2 seperate queues for 64tick and 128tick or leave the tick rate at 64 so majority of the players have a smoother experience, option 1 will result in even slower queue times so the only option they really have is leaving the tick rate at 64

I have done some game development in the past, and actually have a current project I am working on. I can tell from the map names they are doing heavy testing. Creating maps/rooms for the sole purpose of testing things like character meshes and textures is a very common thing for any developer to do, especially in the early stages or when doing things like porting the game to consoles or building the game on to a new engine. I also spotted "s2" in a few map names, I'm sure you all know what that means by now though.
If CSGO get ported on source 2 they should not make it Free 2 Play again so those hackers won't be spreading anymore Like most of the hack nowadays they can get prime even though they didn't bought it by just simply changing and tweaking some files and codes on it

There was some dust2 s2 references shipped in hammer4 (source 1) which people assumed means dust2 was somehow a s2 map X) It just means the references were probably from s2.

I really like the style of these videos, but I think while speaking you should remove the emphasis on words. You could try talking a bit more naturally. yes, BUT we reported it months prior to public disclosure, they did nothing, we published some tweets with this info, they 100% saw it and did nothing, so they're probably fine with it

I really like the style of these videos, but I think while speaking you should remove the emphasis on words. You could try talking a bit more naturally. For example naming the maps (de_inferno etc), it felt really forced, with lots of switching od tones and stuff. Other than that I think youe accent makes the video unique to listen to. Keep up the good work!
