@@mrbonjangle He said Din didn't "WANT" it 😉 and he was talking about Din handing it over to Paz Vizsla when he gave it to the Armorer so she can see it
In the young adult book series "Boba Fett" which went from when boba was still being Grown till after the yuzan-vong invasion Boba does become Mandalore. It actually follows a lot of what you've got going on in cannon right now. But Boba around 5 years after the fall of the empire discovers he has a daughter whom has been raised by a now retired bounty hunter acantince of his. His daughter having become a hunter herself has made enimies of the wrong people in the underworld and so Boba does what he sees he has to make her safe. He calls upon his old connections and money and finds he can't make peace so he decides hell force it and starts building a criminal empire through the Mandalorian ways in order to wage war on the underworld. He has his daughter trained as a sniper when she wants to fight. He's hoping to keep her from the action.at one point he sets up Bossk as head of the bounty hunter guild as a puppet but when he turns to side with the hurts he kills him and puts a wookie by the name of Blackclaw in his place. Eventually he gets caught up with the Rangers of the new Republic series (it's wedge Antilles and the rest of rouge squadron after its members go their own ways) in the war with Thrawn. During that he comes into contact with Mandalorian groups trying to retake Mandalore including Deathwatch whom he still hates as his father taught him, however he makes what peace he can and even enlists their help in taking out the Black Sun syndacite after they come to claim the Pyke's territory after their fall. During these events many Mandalorian see Boba Fett as a true Mandalorian and pledge themselves to him after it comes out his father had the title of Mandalore. This brings him into conflict with deathwatch and by extension the "New Jedi order books" when Luke's Jedi think they'll make the Galaxy safer by taking out the now largest criminal faction and cause trouble before seeing that deathwatch is the true problem. Afterwards they help drive them off and see that boba is trying to make the criminal factions less dangerous and so offer to assist if he needs help and leave. Deathwatch now in control of Mandalore declares war on Boba with the backing of the imperial remnant under Admiral Dalla. Thus boba goes to war and eventually kills Bokatan and makes the deathwatch subservient to him. Now in control of Mandalore many of the League of 1000 world's come to join him as they were under the Clone wars Mandalore. Thus boba now has his own empire larger than even that of the hurts having taken much of their territory. Just in time for the yuzhan-vong invasion where the hurts join the vong. Boba at the behest of Luke and "The stranger" (chrome Mandalorian wanderer) boba makes war on the hurts and begins to lose badly when the vong turn their attention to Mandalore destroying much of it in the process before the imperial remnant, the new Republic, the Hales Consortium, and Talon Karrade's smugglers come to push the Vong off Mandalore. After the war new veins of Mandalorian iorn are discovered in the craters made by the vongs attacks and the bones of a mythasaur which are cloned and brought back to test mandalorian mettel. After two years Boba steps down as Mandalore and to make it official loses in combat to his Daughter crowning her the new Mandalore while he enjoys his retirement.
Love the theory man. I just have one small critique or suggestion really, on the format of your videos. Which, is that if you were to synchronize the words you speak with the visuals on screen, it would make the end product much much better. I think especially when discussing intricate theories about subtle and not so subtle references to symbols and imagery being used while characters are speaking, it's even more important for us, the viewers, to be able tp follow along with you on screen. 🙏
I still think Din will ultimately become Mandalore. He is _The_ Mandalorian, after all, and he's the only one of the two with an actual interest in the Mandalorian people. Boba is already forming his own tribe that is definitely not Mandalorian in composition or tradition. But as such, he could certainly be the mentor Din needs to take that mantle of responsibility. Luke could also play a similar if lesser role, since visiting Grogu would entail seeing him as well. At the very least, he could teach Din how to focus his mind and control the Darksaber. Din didn't want it since he is mentally in limbo between his old life and his new one. He's aimless. That will change with time.
Notably, Boba Fett, when given the prompting on multiple occasions, does not say that he himself, or even his father for that matter, is a Mandalorian. We only know that Jango was a foundling, I suspect that he did not swear to the creed, leaving to make his own way instead, earning his armor (and thus earning it for his family) when he returned to protect his family in the Mandalorian Civil War
Thing is, I've never seen any indication from boba that he gives a damn about being a mandalorian, the armour he wears is more homaged to jango, and that's about it
@@The_winds_of_change he wears the armor not to pay homage, but more to carry on the legacy of his doner and father, but yeah, I’ve seen only disinterest in Mandalorian culture beyond his/Jango’s right to his armor, and him basically specifically failing to say that he is Mandalorian when given prompting to confirm that he is
I think this episode not being about Boba was actually a good thing. It just goes to show that this is "The Mandalorian season 2.5" since that's what the creators were calling it a while back. Why it's a good thing is because it's kinda telling two stories at once, Boba's, and Din's.... but then melding the two stories together like it's one big chapter book. I'm sure Luke will have his own seperate arc in The Mandalorian S3, much like how the Kenobi series is said to have two arcs that would eventually coincide with one another, to show "what Vader's up to, and what Obi-Wan is up to". The Mando-verse is coming together!
Id be fine with it if 90% if Boba wasnt either boring or just poorly made. The difference in filmmaking quality between Ep5 and the rest of Boba is night & day. Another thing that sucks is that they legitimately could have just made Mando about Boba and done everything the same. Grogu and all.

I think Din Djarin trying to give BoeKatan the Dark Saber makes him even more worthy to be Mandalore Those whose refuse power are the ones who deserve it most
That starfighter test sequence was AMAZING! This episode was probably the most "movie quality" visual wise episode I've seen of any star wars show content😆🙌🙌🙌 So much more appreciation for other aspects of the episode but you and others made good in expressing that for myself😄👍 Your way of explaining ideas through literature and story concepts are also very much great Fanatic!!
I LOVED when he took off on the space cops and the one senior officer had to explain the differnt between a hyperspace jump and sub light thrusters or whatever he called it
Although I liked this episode I was upset that boba wasn’t in this episode, but after listening to this video about them hinting boba becoming the leader of mandalore Ihave a new perspective and liked this episode a lot more. Thanks for the insight.
You’re welcome. This is a theory I’ve had since Boba showed up in the Mandalorian. I was only about 50% sure of it then. Now…90%. The clues are all there. But if I’m wrong, that’s ok. It’ll be good regardless.
Whether he will rule Mandalore or not only time will tell but there is a reason why we got all this now so while Boba wasn’t in it doesn’t mean it isn’t important to Boba and necessary. Everything is important in these shows and I’m enjoying all of it!
If you think about it, Boba kind already herald a new age of Mandalorians. It was with his help that Din Djarin was able to survive when Grogu was taken, to get off the planet, find the location of Gideon, get to Bo-Katan and get to the ship. There, Din was able to get the Darksaber. You can say that Boba gave "a ride" to Din and Din may be the balance that all Mandalorians can accept. He is learning to accept both sides. Boba doesn't need to be the ruler to be the legend.
Yes! Boba is the mythosaur that literally rose out of the desert and then gave din a “ride”. Doesn’t mean boba will be the leader but is the herald that will bring him forth. Cool take
As much as I love Boba Fett, Din just feels so much better on the screen. Something about his whole story and the way they edit his show just flows so much better.
They really didn't have a good idea for the boba fett show like I feel like they wanted him to have his own show really badly but when they actually started making it they realized they had no ideas and this is the result.
@@kingslayer011 I'm pretty sure they're setting up Boba as an independent force aside from the New Republic. This gives Djarin a safe haven from Republic Authorities, and direct access to a proper mentor in the form of Boba Fett. (Bear in mind that Boba's about 12-15 years older than Mando, and actually knows about more traditional Mandalorian history) I see Mando season 3 revolving around Mando's growth into a leader, with Boba Fett's mentorship.
I found it very interesting that they included a solely driven Din episode in BoBf, but then rewatching it over it clicked. Din is much the same as what a lot of people thought Boba was when he was still bounty hunting. The opening sequence with Din just cutting through all the klatooinians was savage. A lot of people have compared Din in Mando seasons to what Boba was "supposed" to be, and BoBF has clearly shown us that the two are on rather different levels. It's interesting that they bring so many key Mandalorian cultural elements into this show about a man that "isn't" a Mandalorian. The two things that stick out the most to me being the Darksaber and the let's just call it "Rite of Atonement". This rite of course being that Din would have to go to the Living Waters under the Mines of Mandalore to become Mandalorian again. I instantly thought of Boba going along with Din to do this to reclaim his heritage as a Mandalorian. The Darksaber showing up in the show also gives us some insight as to why Din can't use it effectively. He's too much like Boba before his change, and he can't learn to be one with the blade. I've seen a lot of people complain about why there was an episode only showing Din and not Boba, but I don't think they realize that this episode had "Boba". Din is Boba in this episode. It's a flashback for Boba without being a flashback and it shows us that a younger Boba would not be able to handle the power and responsibility of being Mand'alor. The DS could be handled by current Boba, who while spending time with the Tuskens has been able to learn one culturally significant melee weapon. He knows what it truly means to be part of a people, and to lose them completely and start over building a new tribe (the crime family). As the Armorer stated in the episode, the Mythosaur would bring about the rise of the Mandalorian people again. As SWF said here, obviously this is Boba's symbol and I think there is a bit more to be said about it. The Mythosaurs were massive fearsome creatures that only the Mandalorians chose to ride, and what has Boba at the beginning of BoBF already claimed to want to do? Ride a Rancor, another large fearsome creature. It feels like BoBF has just been a massive set up for this huge pay out of Boba becoming Mand'alor to preserve his ancestral people. I think there is a ton of foreshadowing in this show, mostly in the flashbacks, that points to this being the pay off, and it wasn't until episode 5 of BoBF that I felt this was actually the direction we will see Boba's story go.
Thank you for taking the time to write that. I really appreciate it. I couldn’t agree more. I have been theorizing and hoping he’s become a great Mand’alor since the show was announced…or rather since he was first seen in the Mandalorian. I haven’t wavered from it. But I did get a little distracted with the crime family stuff but now…it’s so obvious.
Just my prediction but Mando technically already is Mandalore. I think he will lose the darksaber to Bo Katan and Boba will then win the darksaber from Katan becoming Mandalore. I've been thinking this since the end of Mando season 2.
Look, imma just say this: EVERYTHING about this episode had me smiling from beginning to end. Also, I'm voting for that BD unit to be Din's new sidekick.
I love it too, and i love the show in general. I love how he made the robot happy with a compliment, and then nodding to the kid in the starliner before putting it parsecs in the rear view mirror. Amy Sedaris is fantastic as Peli Motto.
After rewatching the episode and giving more thought to what we see I came to this realization. If the Armorer is Rook Kast like we suspect then it makes sense why she seemly dismisses the Darksaber: Obviously it’s literally led to nothing but trouble and in-fighting even when it was “earned” just look what happened when Maul won fair and square by all accounts. Bo-Karen refused and sparked a civil war. Rook was a fanatic of Maul and his betrayal definitely affected her. Gar Saxon became cowardly and Rook isolated herself from mainstream Mando culture. She KNOWS that blade is nothing but trouble. Ironically Rook became the thing she hated the most: A Karen whose stuck in their ways. I believe in Mando season 3 we will continue to explore the themes and ask the essential question that really is at the heart of the show: What does it mean to be Mandalorian? I believe the answer will the super commando codex by Jaster and true mandalorian’s. That’s why we’re seeing this in book of Boba! But that’s just a theory! A Star Wars theory!
I just hope Mando season 3 doesn’t have all Grogu. Lol. I like him but it seems he’s going to be a crutch to support people who don’t know much about Star Wars. Did that sound too elitist? I didn’t mean it to.
While it would be cool to see Boba embrace his Mandalorian heritage finally. But in my humble opinion i think Din is going to find the last Mythosaur when he goes to Mandalore to find a water spring in the mines of Mandalore to atone. Its subtly been leading to him becoming the uniting force for all Mandalorians.
I think Boba will Push Din into becoming Mandalore even. I believe Boba would follow Din. Din more than proved himself worthy to Boba already. But Dins tie to Luke, and the saber having been made by a Jedi.. With references in the Mandalorian about the Mandalorian wars.. to me it just feel like the perfect setup.
the BD robot lighting for Mando and Mando saying i cant see or point here etc was exactly like iron man 1 when Tony worked on one of the boots and his robot was not really helpful and doing the same thing
@@MrMgage13 but if the guy is still alive, he would have kept it so from a certain point of view, i hope its not the same so we can one day see it in an other show or game
Excellent theory! Boba makes more sense as a leader of men. Din is a bit of a loner who was raised in a cult. I’ve been seeing this show as a throw back to old western movies where an immensely talented gun fighter hangs up his guns. He tries to live a quiet life. Even under huge provocation, like being beaten or stolen from, he resists getting his guns out. Finally, something pushes him over the edge. Usually the murder of his woman. Then he unleashes his warrior power and everyone sees that he’s not gone soft. All the impatient cry babies complaining that they’ve ruined the character of Boba Fett will be in for a surprise when he lets loose.
Agreed. For me, Din djarin not a leader type, he more like a warrior for Mandalore. Boba, Bo katan and Armorer are more suitable to be a leader. Boba is my 1st choice.
Yeah I think boba was gonna hang up his blaster until the tuskens were killed... it sucks tbh I liked learning more about Tusken culture. Also was hoping to see them as a great ally in the upcoming wars Boba Fett faces
@@soyboi6979 We might see the other Tusken tribes. If the woman who trained Boba survived she may have returned to her parents tribe. She might come back with a new crew. If the Pykes were really responsible for killing the Tuskens this whole crime lord thing might really be about getting revenge.
Seems you all completely ignoring how much mandalorians hate clones .... i seriously doubt bokatan and her people would support boba fett - they hate him basically..... and hes clone ( pure ok ) but still a clone in their eyes ....
I'm not entirely disagreeing here, but in legends nearly every mandalorian, who believed himself to be one, carried a mythosaur skull around on his armor.
@@StarWarsFanatic makes sense, if every Clan of Taung took on a different one. Kind of every dynasty of Kings taking on a diffrent dragon back in medieval times. And since Mythosaurs are living breathing creatures with diffrent facial Features it could've been a Tradition that is as old as the first taung settlers on mandalore. Out of that tradition arose the custom of fashioning New mythosaur skulls when New Clans appeared. BTW, all highly speculative.
I'm not hugely read up on the lore of the Mandalorians in canon and legends, but I kinda got the impression that the mythosaur skull symbol was to the Mandalorians as the symbol of the cross was to Medieval Europeans - it's widespread, everyone is familiar with it, nearly everyone identifies with it, lots of people may have one on their person or around their home, there's lots of different variations of it but they are all easily recognizable as being the cross/skull.
Boba specifically did not say that he was a Mandalorian, frankly I doubt he would want to become Mandalore, he has his own empire to build. And yes, Din does not want the responsibility of leadership, and the sword is heavy, but it was heavy for Sabine when she started using it, it was only through practice that she learned how to use the blade, and she helped to lead rebellion, she then found her way out of having to take the mantle of leadership by giving it to Bo-katan. Din will not have such an easy time doing that. Just because he doesn’t want the burden of leadership does not mean that he is not right for it, or that it has not fallen upon him.
@@Devon.with.an.i oh, you should check it out. It does definitely have its merits if you are willing to sit through a bunch of stupid filler spaced all throughout. First season has a cool villain, and seasons 3 and 4, id say especially 3, are pretty good. And it has a clear advantage over the Clone Wars in that it has one cast of characters and can tell a much more serialized story. The choice to change animation styles, however, is unexplainable
@@Devon.with.an.i The first season is fairly childish as the character of Ezra is getting established, but just like Ahsoka did in Clone Wars, he matures, and the later seasons are some of the best Star Wars around. Just accept up front that it is intended for a younger audience and enjoy the style for what it is.
I like to think, in relations to this video, when the armorer quotes "the mythosaur rising up to herald a new age of mandalore sadly they only exist in legends", when she says "legends" it could be a nod to the literal Star Wars Legends universe, being the animated scene of Boba Fett riding a Mythosaur when he helps Luke find a ship. I dont exactly know if the animated show including this scene is Legends or Canon, I doubt this was the case but could be a cool easter egg reference to that scene.
The Mythosaur skull is and almost always has been the symbol of the Mandalorians as a whole. It was also obviously painted on Paz Vizsla's shoulder plate as well.
I'd agree with everything except Boba Fett becoming Mandalore, its going to be Djin Djarrin. Boba has made it pretty clear he has no interest in Mandalore , he's always said "I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe, like my father before me" His armour is the only thing Mandalorian that Boba holds sacred and thaats entirely due to it being his fathers.
Not in this story it's not. Boba was raised by mandalorians, this is why they finally accepted him as one of their own when they met him. They went I to his history and found out he was raised by them, so he was not just the child of a mandalorian, but he went back and was raised by them as well. I know its different then actual lore but it's been changed here. Even his armor is now the same. In the comics it wasn't actual mandalorian armor, but here it is.
I just don't see Boba becoming Mandalore with how much he's distanced himself from the culture so far. However, as some others have pointed out I could see him diving deeper into the re-canonized backstory of Jango and bringing up the Supercommando Codex and the Mandalorian Protectors. I think if he did that it would be a good launching point for Din to bring both "sides" of the culture under his leadership. I also think working for Boba is also going to help give him a sense of what leadership requires of him since he doesn't appear to have a good grasp of that right now. I can't help but feel like at some point in season 3 we're gonna see something of a reckoning between Bo Katan and "The Armorer", maybe even taking place after Din visits Mandalore himself. I noticed the scene showing the "night of a thousand tears" just seemed....off somehow. I feel like it was almost meant to be a exaggerated version of what happened. They made it seem like the planet was given a nuclear carpet bombing and that's just not what happened unless they're gonna retcon it. It would make sense if the Armorer was lying about it to keep her followers from finding out about the mainstream Mandalorian society though.
The culture/creed of clan Deathwatch is unique to them and is not the universal way of all Mandalorians. In fact Deathwatch are considered outsiders by most Mandalorians.
It could be that the Empire only glassed the Capitol and surrounding region, where most of the Mandalorian uprising was. Maybe not the further cities and areas.
@@AtlantiansGaming nah the fall of Mandalore was total and planet wide with the empire essentially leaving the planet uninhabitable. This was in many ways Sidious' first real show of Imperial power after crushing the Jedi. You can imagine the psychological impact of the Empire doing this to Mandalore of all planet's
We as viewers already know she is lying by omission to Din, and likely Paz as well (at least if we have watched all other available materials). She completely failed to mention any part she and the rest of Deathwatch had in the fall of Mandalore and the conflicts that arose before, within and after it. Ultimately, Maul wasn't Mandalorian, and they backed him knowing this, using him to do the dirty work that they couldn't achieve themselves, this makes THEM no longer true mandalorians as well, by their own overly strict and vaunted creed. She uses the Remnant's creed to hide from the truth.
That would have been dope it I think it’s better if Boba tells his own family history. How awesome would it be if young Jango was played by Daniel Logan? It be like poetry it rhymes.
Great theory, but I think it will be Din. I can’t help but recall the scene in Chapter 2: The Child where he’s taming the blurrg. Once he accepts what he must do, the blurrg calmed down and allowed him to mount it. Even Kuiil looked surprised at first and had mentioned the myth right before that moment. It’s obvious Din has a certain grace with people and things, and I believe that specific moment was foreshadowing. I think something big will be waiting when he goes to the living waters of Mandalore.
Dinn is going to atone himself in the underground mines on Mandalore where the last mythasaur will be. A fight will happen, he will win and the beast will submit to him. He will ride it which will atone for taking off his helmet and then he will truly be seen as the leader of Mandalore.
The leader of Mandalore is such a stationary position, and Din just got a badass unregistered hot rod. He's being set up for more adventures, he'll probably leave the ruling to the guy whose entire character arc revolves around becoming a ruler. Boba will probably leave tatooine after liberating it from the Pikes, then he'll fulfill every character arc that was set up for him - belonging to a creed, becoming a ruler, and riding a horrific creature - by accompanying Din to Mandalore, taming a mythosaur and uniting his ancestral people under his rule. That way Mandalore gets a leader audiences will be pleased with, and Din's still open to go on more adventures in his chromed out N1 hot rod with Grogu in the little glass dome where the astromech should be.
I hope that the armorer's story of the mythosaur coming back comes true. Maybe Din djarin will find in inside Mandalor as he tries to find the lake to redeem himself as the armorer tels him he has to.
This is much more likely than the theory presented. Boba has no way of acquiring the Darksaber except through fighting Din Djarin: The story is most important, as Gideon said. This is the third episode of tM/BoBF where the Mythosaur has been mentioned. I surmise that Grogu has a role to play in its return.
Dude! Excellent explanation about why that was an episode of the Boba Fett series and not the Mandalorian. I've been scratching my scalp bloody over that. Fascinating stuff.
I think this is certainly a credible theory, and one that I would really like too. On the other hand, I doubt Disney would go down this rout, as I just simply feel they build Din up to be the main character. I think Boba, despite how much we all love him, is getting too old to run such a highly competitive warrior society, and he begins to fall in place pretty well as a godfather figure. Plus we also know that many mandalorians hate him for being a clone of Jango.
Thank you. My thoughts exactly. Watching the video I was thinking is that the case, so what is the propuse of Din Djarin story, be a kind of sidekick of Boba Fett?. I don't thing so
Your insight to this episode is on point, how you broke down the specific wording that the Armorer used and why Boba was not present made perfect sense. You got the like and earned the subscription.
Interesting take but I think there's a chance Luke would teach him how to use it when he goes to see Grogu. Considering Boba already said he rode something bigger than a Rancor and he mounted that 6 leg monster in Ep. 2, this can go many ways. I'm expecting to see some amazing stuff from Boba the last two episodes, including riding a Rancor.
Could be. I could also see Luke (if he even shows up) not knowing what to do with the darksaber. It has very different properties from the lightsaber. Maybe he'll just share some wisdom about the force and move on? We'll see..
Another detail people keep missing is when the Armourer says at 13:00 "It is said one warrior will defeat 20 and the multitudes will fall before it." This says to me that whoever possesses the Dark Saber will face 20 challenges of ownership. If that person wins all 20 challenges, they will become the new leader of Mandalore.
Obvious misinterpretation on your part, friend. "It is said one warrior will defeat 20" seemingly means that the wielder can defeat up to 20 other warriors (perhaps in one setting) Similarly Bruce lee kicks ass of 15-20 other fighters in a setting. There is no legend nor canon precedent for "you must face 20 challengers...in order to become Manda' lor." Nothing in legend or canon has such requirements regarding mandalorian leadership: Not seen in the ancient Manda'lors, not seen with Tarre Vizsla, Jaster, Sateen Kryze, Maul, Gar Saxon, nor Bo-Katan? Not seen in Legends when Boba Fett becomes Manda'lor in 23 ABY either.
There were some details in the conversation with the armorer that you missed that may change your view on Boba being the one who rises as the future Mandalore. Though it could very well be the case, The armorer told Din during their conversation, after the darksaber duel with visla, that he'd have to travel beneath the mines of Mandalore to redeem himself since he took off his helmet. I strongly believe that Din will be the future Mandalore, Since this episode had hinted strongly that he'd have to go to Mandalore to redeem himself by the Mandalorian creed, That he's going to go find Grogu in the next episode and most likely ask for advice on how to properly wield the darksaber from Luke, and Mandalore being the only place you can find living Mythosaurs, im pretty sure there's one he'll have to wrangle with in the Mines of Mandalore as "Songs of eons past foretold of the Mythosaur, Rising up, to herald a new age of Mandalore" makes it very clear Din will go on a journey below the Beskar mines of Mandalore in order to redeem himself and possibly find a living Mythosaur in the process, perhaps taming it being the only way to truely redeem yourself as a Mandalorian by the creed.
This could very well be. But the conversation ended with Din saying the mines had been destroyed. And he’s also been exposed to other Mandalorians that don’t keep their helmets on. Who is she to tell him he isn’t a Mandalorian? Also, he’s set off to find Grogu, then help Boba. It doesn’t seem like the waters below Mandalore is a priority.
Yes, exactly my theory as well. Din will first go to Grogu and get lightsaber training with Luke, then he'll go help Boba and then go redeem himself. And @Star Wars Fanatic , he said the mines were destroyed but the conversation ended with the Armorer saying "This is the way". Which means that he'll find a way to access them, that is his quest. And while Boba becoming Mandalore would be great and all, it just doesn't seem that appropriate for the series. While Boba likes the Mandalorians, he just doesn't seem to be interested in becoming Mandalore. He's more interested in the crime world and in Tatooine.
@@alinalexandru2466 I agree but I think that Mando will join other Mandalorians that are not part of The Watch. They are the ones that don't take off their helmets. Others do and still call themselves Mandalorians.
This is somewhat reminiscent of bobas journey (spirit quest) he took I think. In the middle of a desert, and with a potential ‘magic lizard’, he wandered somewhere with lots of water and a tree, something akin to visiting the living waters. If boba wasn’t really a mandalorian before, I think he is now. But this could also Segway into a connection between mandalor and tattooine, or accessing another place using the force kinda like the world between worlds.
This is the first commentary that has made sense to me as to why Boba Fett was not in this episode. Great analysis. I’ve listened to other channels on this episode and this element was missing.
Hey Gerald, I’ve been really enjoying your content lately. The theories and deep lore stuff is absolutely awesome. Your passion and dare I say, fanaticism, for Star Wars really shines through in your videos and makes it so much more enjoyable to watch as opposed to other channels that just ALSO cover Star Wars content, even if they cover the same stuff. Keep it up!
@@StarWarsFanatic thanks for the reply! If you’re open to advice though, even if it’s just still images, I’d try to make sure the visuals on screen match what you’re talking about. Doing great though, keep it up!
I don’t know why people hate Fett so much. If they hate the show, don’t watch it. If they think your videos are dumb, don’t listen. It’s obvious he’s Mandalorian. His dad was literally the leader of the true mandos. It’s cannon, that boba is supposed to be Jaster’s legacy. Why do people hate that so much?
They saw Boba as a useless character and never read the Legends material. To them, Boba Fett only existed for 6 minutes and 38 seconds. It’s funny seeing them argue everything about Boba Fett. Some still say he died in the Sarlacc.
I think it’s a bit of a reach to say boba will become the mandalore. Din is clearly being set up to take the mantle. He under went the hero’s journey (a key trope used commonly in starwars) in s1&2. The old Adage attributed to Plato “Only those who do not seek power are qualified to hold it.” Is clearly being applied in the build up to S3. The whole episode was setting him up as a reluctant ruler. He is fighting against himself, and the darksaber is the visual effect of this. I think Boba will help him (the herald part of the prophecy), and use his new organisation to help Din out as they clearly respect and value each other. But a herald is an emissary, not the leader. Politically, Din is on good (ish) terms with Bo Katan, and can get back in the death watches good books by completing the waters of mandalore trials (in s3). He’s also going to meet Jedi again so can be trained in the darksabers use. Everything is set up to set din as the new Mandolore, To bait and switch this setup would be absurd.
I hope that's true, especially in the context that lightsabers feel heavy for non-force users or generally inexperienced. However, Boba in my memory has experience both against and with a lightsaber. To me him wielding the darksaber and being the Mandalore would only be natural to becoming the true Canon. Here's hoping.
@An extremly obbise hoovy Whoever wrote that story is fucking stupid. A non-force sensitive with no training with a lightsaber was able to go against Darth Vader and not get completely obliterated. Idc if it’s Boba Fett that is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard.
YES! As soon as she said this, combined with Boba Fett's own words to Fennec about wanting a clan, it clicked that Boba Fett was going to be the one to take control.
I don’t think the Mandalorian would want to go back and cleanse himself to become “Mandalorian” again. He showed Grogu his face because he cared for him and felt like a father to him. Would he really want to not show Grogu his face ever again?
dins kinda lost right now, not a mando but what? not a long shot like typical stories he'll try to get to the waters to "gain his honor back" but will find something else.
Thank you! Yeah it also goes along with Tem Morrison saying we will see Boba expand. I don’t think he meant the criminal empire, but rather his own journey.
Kind of interesting that the 2 key "mandalorians" that will potentially usher in the new age of the mandalore are a clone and an orphan, and are both in fact outcasts to the mandalorians. Din Djarin doubles as a bounty hunter and is eventually even kicked out of his extremely conservative sect BCS he took his helmet off, and Boba Fett is a clone and bounty hunter who was taken in and accepted by Tusken Raiders. It's awesome bcs u would expect some1 like Bo Katan (with Noble blood), or some1 from house Viszla to be the leader and foster in a new age of the Mandalorian, and instead it could be a clone and an orphan.
@@PhoenixIronworksNS technically, u r right. I get it that he said he is not a mandalorian from session 2 of the mandalorian, and George Lucas said he was not born on mandalore. But i think the series is going to dive deeper on what is being a mandalorian. Technically, Din Djarin is not a mandalorian either. Din and Boba are both foundlings. Also technically, Din was just told this week in the series he is "a mandalore no more". So doesn't that establish u don't have to be mandalorian to be mandalorian?
@@MrRobVision no because they’re most likely going to bring in a new way for a mandalorian to redeem theirselves, because by their ways there has always been a way to do so. With mandalore gone, they will most likely adapt a new way and I think Din will be able to redeem himself. Boba was never mandalorian, nothing about his character abides by their ways either. The only tie is bescar armour and Jango. Yes Boba was adopted as a foundling, but he left and hasn’t practiced their ways since. Technically he could also redeem himself, but Boba had other ambitions than to return to a way he left decades ago. Din also has the dark sabre
@@PhoenixIronworksNS idk if Din will end up with the dark saber or not and i don't think he will lead the mandalore unless he gets less extreme in his ideas. After all it's only a small percentage of people that think that way. The rumors about Django Fett being the rightful owner of the dark blade make sense, and since boba is his clone, maybe it is his. And i believe boba's current motivations r to abandon traveling and bounty Hunting r done and he really wants to settle down with a people. Sounds like he could possibly lead the mandalorian on tattooine.
Something I haven’t heard anyone question is why the Armorer, who knows that he will be challenged to combat for possession of the darksaber, councils against him using the beskar spear, the one thing that might give him a serious advantage over another Mandelorian.
Yeah it's such a shame to see the spear go but I'm super curious to see what was forged for Grogu in it's place. In terms of Din battling other Mandalorians with the beskar spear, wouldn't that be seen as unhonorable by their creed/ways? Din and Paz seemingly fought without their jetpacks cause it was the honorable, fair way to go about the duel. So as far as dueling, the same would apply with the beskar spear I'm assuming especially as Din also has the darksaber. Plus it's a weapon that puts even Din and other Mandalorians at risk if fallen into the wrong hands.
Since it's beskar chains and she has knowledge of his powers I'm assuming it was designed for force users, maybe its supposed to be used as a sort of force whip or be able to form into chainmail if the user wants it to.
I especially liked the part where she talked about how Beskar is not meant for weapons, after using a hammer of Beskar, Inspecting the Darksaber, made of Beskar, and this was a while ago, but also forging Whistling Birds, out of Beskar. It is really important to have consistent lore in place. Not just adding new arbitrary things as you go. People might think you have no idea what story you want to tell. Or, because it is Disney, they could just spend hours swooning over the member berries and make a story out of thin air to make up for your lack of one.
I'm always for making Open Seasons canon. We know next to nothing about Jango's early life, Boba (and I'm sure it was also said in Clone Wars as well, but I haven't watched in years) confirmed that there was a Mandalorian civil war that Jango fought in and there was a visual mention of a 'mentor Jast'. Here's how I think they could implement it: *DISCLAIMER: I HAVEN'T READ ANY CANON MATERIAL ON THE SUBJECT AND I COULD BE VERY WRONG* Before the Clone Wars there was the Mandalorian Civil War. I doubt the peaceful Pacifist government would be part of the conflict because that would go against their pacifist philosophy. I'm certain that Death Watch had a part in it, or was at least a result of it. I also assume that the Death Watch we saw in Clone Wars was a continuation of the first (Civil War) Death Watch. So since the idea of the Pacifist government fighting Death Watch makes no sense, another group would have to exist to combat them. Perhaps this group was the True Mandalorians. The True Mandalorians were essentially a middle ground between the two groups. The group's leader, Jaster Mereel also created the Super Commando Codex as an updated way Mandalorians should live. From what I assume, the True Mandalorians (Or similar group) fought Death Watch while the Pacifist government stood by. Then Jango comes in. While it's currently unknown if Jango was really born on Concord Dawn or not, he could have had his family killed by Death Watch and was taken in by Jaster. Remember, Mando called Jango a foundling and Boba agreed, so Boba has some idea of Mandalorian culture. Here's where Star Wars Fanatic's theory comes in. Sometime during the war, Jaster is killed, Jango fights and kills Tor Viszla ("the original leader of Death Watch'), and Jango becomes Mand'alor. Somewhere afterwards, the True Mandalorians are destroyed, Death Watch is weakened and the survivors regroup on Concordia, and the Pacifist government takes control over Mandalore. Of course, after living through the horrors of the war, most of the citizens would support the new government. Assuming that the 'curse' is real, then Jango at some point loses the blade and House Viszla takes it. Here are some ways it could have happened: 1: Like in Open Seasons, the True Mandalorians are led into a trap leaving Jango as the sole survivor. He loses the blade and House Viszla takes it back. (But this doesn't explain how Pre was able to use it with little effort) 2: Jango is beaten by Pre Viszla and is either banished or Jango escapes (though I doubt Pre would let Jango live if they fought). 3: Jango either saw the darksaber as the cause of the war and the death of his family and gets rid of it or (like Mando) doesn't care about being Mand'alor. Afterwards, Pre Vizsla, wanting to unite the remnants of Death Watch and lay claim as Mand'alor, he lied to everyone saying that he defeated Jango in a duel, we have seen that he isn't above lying. This could explain why Almec and Bo-Katan don't consider Jango and, by extension, Boba as true Mandalorians. Though, seeing as the two of them are members of Death Watch could also explain that too. Or perhaps Jango was just a regular Mandalorian. Since Jango most likely would have fought against Death Watch and acted against the philosophy of the Pacifist government, both groups wouldn't consider him a true Mandalorian. But that's just my guess. Like I said, I haven't read any canon material of the subject and this is purely a theory that could and can be very wrong.
If turns out to be true, the theory laid down in this video is the SINGLE reason why I am willing to forgive the fact that a Mando episode was shamelessly slapped onto a Boba Fett series. I hope this is all true.
I'm pretty sure they included this episode due to covid related delays in filming, originally book of boba was going to be 6 episodes, then out of nowherre they changed it to 7.
I think the Armorer and the Watch will become the main villain of the Mandalorian with Moff Gideon being a secondary as I suspect the Armorer possibly had a role in causing the purge as Concordia wasn’t even touched whatsoever which makes no sense unless she secretly aligned herself with the Empire.
I never thought of this, but it makes so much sense! Especially if this is Rook Kast. She may have believed that she was getting revenge on Bo or that the Empire would hand Mandalore over to her.
He did ride something 10x the size of a Rancor.. 👀 I don’t see this happening tho tbh, I think they’re setting up Mando, Mand’alor etc for season 3 which is unfortunate for us Boba fans! I guess we’ll have to see how these next 2 episodes play out tho! Maybe we’ll see something that points to this theory.
I'm guessing we don't get to actually see him give Grogu the armor, I'm guessing it's more like he shows up at the beginning of next episode and he's like "alright I'm ready" and we see what happened in ep 1 of Mando 3
I think what Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are building is a cinematic "Bible" of Mandalorian legend. It already kind of started in "Clone Wars" and "Rebels," with Bo Katan, and her failure to be the champion that Mandalore needed. That, and the eventual destruction of Mandalore, make up the "Old Testament" of this bible. The death of the "old world," in other words. The "New Testament" begins with "The Mandalorian" (Din Djarin), a seemingly unimportant orphan, raised by a Mandalorian branch-cult. Yet who, interestingly enough, comes into possession of a COMPLETE SUIT OF BESKAR ARMOR, in the first season of his show, and then, at the conclusion of the second season, comes into possession of the mythical DARKSABER! This, while also acting as guardian, and mentor (if you will) of a lost Jedi padawan of extremely young stock (Grogu). "The Book of Boba Fett" is another book, in this New Testament of Mandalore, that branches off from "The Mandalorian." Boba Fett, I believe, will play a critical role in this saga. He already has, if you go by what he did in Season 2 of "The Mandalorian." And he will serve more roles beyond that. Boba, however, is not the "messiah" that Mandalore needs. He is simply a very important prophet, that will, in his own way, pave the road for the true messiah (Din) to walk, in order to restore Mandalorian culture to its' full flowering, as in the old days of the galaxy. I reckon both Luke Skywalker, and Grogu, will also play important roles in this future.
"There's always a bit of truth in Legends," Ahsoka Tano It's funny, me being a strict canon-girl most of my life, how I have grown to truly love and appreciate this quote! It's awesome that you referenced it @Star Wars Fanatic in this excellent breakdown vid! Thank you for taking the time & sharing these fantastic insights! My mind is totally blown!!! 🤯 In a good way! 😅 I love the idea that The Mandalorians have been cursed going all the way back to Jango Fett rightfully wielding the Dark Saber... I also totally dig the mythosaur connection, really great stuff... I'm not sure I'm totally on board w/ the Armorer being a Maul devotee, nevertheless her horned helmet makes me wonder, perhaps... Thanks for another excellent vid!!! This is the way!
Well Boba Fett did become Mandalore in the books before Disney took over and I think you are right. Also Din Djarin doesn't want to be a leader, you can see this when he defers to the armorer when in her presence or to anyone else willing to lead.
I think it's quite interesting how the armorer could easily out match Mando and could have easily took the blade for herself. But instead mentored him even after she banned him from the title of Mandalorian from him.
well that was one of the first things that stood out. the tale of the Mythosaur. Obviously setting up Din Jarins inevitable finding and riding of the seemingly extinct beast.. which also was foreshadowed by Boba Fett's desire to learn to ride the Rancor. Now either the two ride these beasts together against a common enemy OR they ride against each other as rivals. i doubt the later.
I think Boba Is just old, tired, and wants to give peace to the people of Tatooine. Boba is wise and he had lots of experience in the galaxy which he and Luke might give good advice to Din. It's too early to tell if Boba would rule the Mandalorians but he will probably help Din and Bo-Katan to fight because he wants peace, a good friend of Din & to honor his father. Din is the muscle & Boba is the brains.
I have to admit until your explanation of how Boba is an exact replica of Jango and will most likely be the one to wield the Dark Saber I was not a fan of this episode. Not because Din isn’t an awesome character. But because the title is The Book of Boba Fett. Not the Mandalorian season 3. I’ll admit I don’t love it. But after you video I have a understanding of why it’s in this series.
Thank you for that. And I felt the same way after the first time I watched it. But even then some things caught my attention. I had to watch it again to make sure I had evidence of all this.
Jango passed out from "poison", he had injured Tor Vizsla, but did not defeat him. Animals shortly thereafter killed Tor Vizsla upon smelling blood. If Jango was "all that AND a bag of chips" - why didn't he just take the DS when he regained consciousness, that nexxt morning? Viszla carcass couldn't harm him? No one was there to stop him from grabbing the DS? If being heir to Jaster's legacy wasn't enough - to lead the True Mando's. If he had merely picked up the DS at that time....boy oh boy...Jango coulda been a contender...for the whole danged planet! Stop attempting to ascribe mystical mumbo jumbo to the Darksaber. It 'belongs" to the living, not the dead. There is no Jedi hocus-pocus that ties the Darksaber to Jango "Mr Clone Wars" Fett. The darksaber "belongs" to whomever can win it in combat. It deservedly belongs to Din Djarin, until someone kicks his butt and takes the DS. Youse guys... I give youse credit for unbridled imaginations... If the favreau/filoni-verse wants to canonize Boba's reign as Manda'lor (23-40 ABY or there abouts), fine. No problem. They will have no issues in bringing that about. However, it is not necessary to create/recreate all new canon with all of your various "theories". Jeez Louise guys.
I think a subtle thread worked through the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, that picks up here and incorporates itself into the prediction for Boba, is that Din Djarin isn't destined to walk the way of the mandolore. He was taken in and raised to, and more than that, he genuinely wants to. The Way has given him meaning and purpose to survive the death of his parents and destruction of his childhood. But fate is being funny with Din. In order to fulfill his quest and obligation to Grogu, Din was forced to do things that violate the Way. Showing his face is symbolic of the fact that Din is destined for another path. Meanwhile, coming from the other direction we have Boba Fett. HIs origin is seemingly as untraditional and un-Mandolore as you can get. It's not clear in the current canon how much Boba even knows about the traditional ways due to where he was raised and his career as a mainstream bounty hunter. Yet Boba is learning some things about himself. He discovered he has a need for a tribe. He wants to take care of people. He cares about societal justice, not just the personal justice of a warrior's individual honor. Boba seems to be angling towards rediscovering his heritage. I wouldn't be surprised if Din makes his pilgrimage to Mandolore and Boba comes with him, and only one of them ends up consecrating themselves in the traditional manner.
At least Mando sees himself as a Mandalorian. Boba doesn't. And could you lead all of Mandalore as one of the creed zealots? What did Bokatan call them again? I think Mando is more likely to lead than Boba. Perhaps Din Djarin is already royalty or of important lineage? All good stuff. Looking forward to seeing where they take it. Boba riding a rancor will be awesome.
I'm afraid you're right. Why would they make an episode focusing on the history and current situation of the Darksaber in a series about Boba Fett if we wasn't ultimately going to be connected to it? This episode would otherwise been an ideal beginning to season 3 of The Mandalorian, but they put it here instead. Boba Fett will become the owner of the Darksaber, which means Boba and Din will have to fight.
Boba Fett also rode a Mythosaur in the (“legendary”) Star Wars Holiday Special, and when he met his Rancor he told the trainer that he has ridden beasts 10x it’s size.
Also, remember that when this series was announced, it was described as "The Mandalorian season 2.5" Absolutely setting up for Boba to play a bigger part, and I believe this episode shed a LOT of light on what exactly that part will be!!!
Did no one else catch when Boba told Danny Trejo that he wanted to ride his new Rancor, Boba said "I've ridden much larger beasts than this." Paraphrasing the exact quote, but I think that statement was important. Does anyone else think so? I didn't make the connection until seeing this video but I think you're definitely onto something.
The significance of this conversation and episode occurring in the Boba Fett series AND it ends on Tatooine is pretty solid evidence that Boba will rise up as Mandalore. Plus, in the last episode of The Mandalorian, when Boba is fighting Bo Katan in the bar, she does say “if *we* would have fought against the Empire like this, *we* would have saved *our* home world”. Meaning she does in fact, consider Boba to be Mandalorian, despite her implicit hatred for clones.
Boba will rise as the Mythosaur, not as the Mandalore who will be Din after his quest to find the living waters that will bring life back to the Mandalorians.
This is exactly what I have been telling my friends. That this episode not only closed a few doors but opened so many more.... Especially for Boba. I think Mando season three will be the rebirth of Mandalore with Boba It was one of the best pieces of Star Wars content ever because of the story it is building.
I have a few theories: 1) Boba creates his own Darksaber or takes the Darksaber from Din. - If you look back in the Mandalorian Season 2, the Tuskens take a Krayt Dragon Pearl, which in legends and in the game was used to create a powerful Lightsaber. Being that Boba has a sort of good relationship with the Tuskens, Boba may merge warrior customs of the Tuskens and the Mandalorians with the creation of his Krayt Saber in his effort to win Tatooine back from the Pikes and make the Tusken Tribes prosper. He could even create a safe haven for any Mandos' hiding out in the galaxy on Tatooine. Or he just takes the Darksaber and crafts another for Din. 2) Boba and Din's partnership guarantees a safe haven for all Mandalorians in hiding. - What better group of warriors would do if not ones that have good skills and weaponry? It wouldn't make sense for Boba not to do so, considering that he's going against the Pikes and possibly their allies. Plus, it'd be perfect way to gauge Din's leadership abilities, should he become one. Or it could be Boba, like in Legends. Who knows?
Just subscribed, notifications bell on!!! This is actually epic, because I always wanted Boba Fett to claim mantle to what was rightfully yes. This is going to change the future for Star Wars, I’m gonna make it very interesting. Tattooing just became the most valuable place in the universe, even before that I always loved it very much. The home of Luke Skywalker also the home of Anakin Skywalker. The world of exile to Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Tuscan raiders, the Java originator of Star Wars itself. Tatooine is the core everything.
Damn dude you explained that so well and in my mind as I was following along with you all the pieces fell into place. This makes perfect sense and work right along with how they write. Awesome job keep it up. Definitely save this video cause you will be referencing this one to prove you where right. Hell ya
Thank you! I hope I’m right. Boba becoming Mand’alor has been a theory of mine since we first saw him in the Mandalorian. If I’m wrong, oh well. But after this episode I’m about 90% sure of this theory.
now i see what you ment.. and all i can say is, YES!!!!! Boba As Mandalore!!! and it makes a lot of sense, Janog being the Rightful Mandalore and Boba being his son, it is his right. lets face it, Boba isnt doing too well as a crime boss, but maybe ruling as Mandalore is his true calling.
I'm totally on board with this theory. I'm not sure how much they plan to ret-con the sequel trilogy but I'm sure there's a reason there were flags of the Mythosaur and Boba/Jango's wheat symbol hanging outside of Maz Kanata's. I think they have big plans for where the story of Boba will end up. I don't see a conflict between Boba and Din ever coming but I can see Boba somehow end up with the dark saber or perhaps Din uniting the Mandalorians under Boba's lineage.
So if the darksaber is somewhat connected to the force, could it be that when its owners life force fades it senses this and changes ownership. Cos in that case would boba fett have the same life force signature of jango? meaning that as the sword sees it, jango never died and so no owner has been able to wield it properly since. Also if we take boba as the mythosaur then the first thing we saw in the show was the mythosaur quite literally rising out of the sarlacc.
If it's through the Force, a line in the first season of TCW would debunk that. It was the very first episode I think, Ambush. The one with Yoda, Thire, Jek, and Rys. In the cave, Yoda tells the clones that they're all different in the eyes of the Force, so I'm not quite sure it would work quite like that.
@@JamMasterJesus That's true but if I recall doesn't the kaminoan in episode 2 mention that Boba is an 'unaltered' clone of Jango. I would have assumed that the alterations and mutations made to the clones made them each unique but Boba is genetically identical to Jango.
@@Ko12395 I mean, it's possible, but there's no evidence that those three clones were altered differently from each other in any way, so you'd think they'd be the same - if different from Jango and Boba - if that were the case. There's still some merit, though, even if that theory isn't entirely correct. Boba *is* closest to Jango genetically, and the Darksaber might sense it as "kay you're my former master's progeny, because of his untimely death you are the worthy owner of this blade" rather than thinking he's Jango outright. Because assuming the blade's connection to the Force plays a part, you'd have to wonder, what if its weilder died from other means? What if he died in a war, and not in a one versus one challenge? What if he was killed by old age or sickness? So maybe the blade senses a "next in line" kind of thing, and in this case that would be Boba.
Very interesting theory, and I can see how you came up with that. But what makes people think that Din even wants to be a leader, for now he might be happy as a bad ass bounty hunter/ warrior.
He doesn´t want to be the leader, he has never wanted to. That´s why he subconsciously rejects the darksaber (he is fighting it, not with it) and the darksaber "rejects" him.
@@Mysikrysa Din absolutely wants to be the leader, he fought Paz for the Darksaber after all. And the Darksaber is not rejecting him, he is rejecting the Darksaber. SW Rebels explained how the Darksaber worked when Sabine was training with it. Much like how Sabine needed to be forced to open up about creating weapons for the Empire in order to find peace within herself before she could effectively wield the Darksaber, Din needed to be forced to open up about breaking the Creed, so that he can find peace within himself and his own choices. At that point he will be able to wield the Darksaber.
@@Nezxmi He doesn´t want to be the leader. He couldn´t refuse the duel because he would look like a coward, which is exactly the thing Paz already accused him of in season 1 ("the coward who shares the table with the Empire").
@@Mysikrysa That was just because Paz hates the Empire lol. Din doesn't care about what Paz has to say, he accepted to prove the point that he both earned and deserved the Darksaber.
I think you missed one more quote from the armorer that ties in with this theory. When Din is using the Darksaber like a sledgehammer and wants to try again, the armorer says the line that his mind is fractured. What have we been seeing in the Book of Boba Fett that seemed a bit out of place? Flashbacks. Boba Fett healing his fractured mind, from his father's death to the Tuskens and onwards. Paz Vizla also says that the Darksaber belongs in someone else's hands, well that foreshadows Din not having the Darksaber later. You also talked about the Jango Comics which should be canon thanks to the Mandalorian season 2 with Boba's chain code. Everything points to Boba Fett being the leader of the Mandalorians, but there is a problem. Din can't give Boba the Darksaber and this episode explains why. Boba has to fight the Mandalorian to reclaim what would rightfully be his which would theoretically break the curse. That's just what I think
@@razorxd9315 Cad Bane could defeat Mando and Hurt him pretty bad, Boba (with his beskar armor to block the dark saber) could then disarm Cad Bane with his custom Gaffi stick maybe, im sure there is a special meaning behind that. But if not Cad, then someone else possibly? i have my little breakdown chart here, and we need to get the saber back to Boba(Jango's clone/Heir) because that is where the curse started the saver circulated back to the Vizslas unrightfully. This would the easiest safest way to get the saber from Din back to Boba, it is the have that third person come into the picture, and it adds up perfectly i think because it also creates that personal story between Cad Bane and Boba, Din also gets hurt, because his character is still struggling(character growing pains). We get legends fans service and Dave Filoni's character(Cad Bane's) first life action appearance/Cameo. Its 👌
I don't want to bring that here but the Darksaber seems to work like the wands in Harry Potter. Also bringing the mythosaur seems convinient when Boba mentions riding something bigger than a Rancor.
@@StarWarsFanatic Lucasfilm’s been doing a lot with the concept of semi-sentient lightsabers for a while, so this fits really well. The fact that Boba’s a 1:1 clone also fits with Star Wars’s long history of mixing magic with weird science (something-something-midichlorians), so yeah, there’s a lot in terms of old and new Lucasfilm paradigms that also support the idea that the Darksaber would recognize him as its rightful wielder via Jango’s DNA.
I wanna see boba pick up the sabre and wield it perfectly and then explain tore vs jango and then mando look at grogu amd then say its yours. The tore vs jango could even be a flashback
If DIn Djarin doesn't discover a Mythosaur and then become the ruler of New Mandalore, frriendly to Jedi this time, I would honestly be surprised as everything points to that character developement and the return of Mandalore as a galactic faction.
You missed one thing... Din Djarin can only be redeemed to the Children of the Watch by bathing in the subterranean waters below Mandalore. There have already been two references to the waters of Tatooine disappearing from the surface (from the Tuskans and from the Water Merchant). Boba Fett is very close to fulfillling his potential as the new leader of the Mandalorians. And if Tatooine becomes the new Mandalore, where are the waters below Mandalore? It is all moving in that direction... its all coming together.
I like the thought. But would they change the identity of tatooine? Its so iconic its almost like a character itself. But i would love something like that.
Polite piece of advice... when talking about a specific image in a show its a good idea to actually show for reference what you are actually talking about.
din taking his helmet off dosen't keep him from becoming or bringing together the rest of the Mandalorians. remember, its only a small sect who do this. bo Katan has no issues nor her crew. If the armorer is Rook Kast, it could be something her crew has adopted while " getting back to their roots" sort of thing also it keeps her identity safe.
I think it's compelling. The part where he says, we will vanquish these interlopers seems like a foretelling line. I didn't actually catch on to it until you pointed it out. The we will vanquish these interlopers part seemed like a foreshadowing of the events that may make Boba actually the new Mandalore rather than it being just a line for the Pyke Syndicate.
Personally, I'd prefer that Boba Fett did nor become Mandelore. I like the direction they took with him as a crime lord. I could see Boba and Din on opposing sides in the future.
Yes I think it would be a good ending to the series. Boba realises that he isn’t made for ruling a crime empire, as there is no such thing as honour or respect in this environment. He leaves this to Fennec and goes searching for what he is seeking, which he can only get in a creed : his people. He gets with a few of them (like bo Katan etc), is rejected for not being a true mandalorian, but than it is revealed that he is the true wielder of the dark Saber, so he is finally accepted in the group and then starts reuniting his people.
So deep! Other youtubers are looking for an explanation why Mando got his own solo episode on the book of boba fett... now I see it's a surprise headed to boba becoming bigger than he was ever imagined! Star way fans turned boba fett into a huge thing.. due to star wars budget they couldn't make the mandalorian costume into an elite stormtrooper.. that's exactly what Lucas wanted it to be, but the budget was low so they were stuck with one suit and turned him into a bounty hunter instead. Now because of popular demand in boba fett is about to have a grand conclusion.... love it!!!💪🏽😎
Would Boba’s entitlement to the Dark Sabre prevent him from having to kill Din to wield it? Because it sounds like from your video, the Dark Sabre isn’t Din’s to begin with either, even if won in combat. Or would Boba still need to vanquish Din?
I think that maybe in the remaining episodes we will see Din be Disarmed of the saber and Boba will pick it up and fight a few guys off with it, no weight no worries, just slashing and hacking away like it was part of his arm already. But he will give the Dark saber back to Din when it is all over and say something like "I thought you said it was heavy." We won't have conclusion until well into season 3 of Mando. If they do Book 2 of Boba Fett it will be him expanding on Tat and maybe collecting some other Mandoa to his side. Building the family so to speak.
Keep in mind that "to herald" does not mean "to lead". The "Rise of the Mythosaur" doesn't mean Boba will become Mand'alor, as Boba has never really considered himself a Mandalorian. But his rise to the head of a crime syndicate could be the first sign of the rise of the rightful leader. Grogu, or "Mand'alor the Tiny". ;)
This also perfectly fits with why these details are being presented as prt of Book of Boba Fett in what otherwise feels like an episode Mandalorian. Well done. I think you are absolutely on to something with the Mythosaur. Well done
I like your theory and personally hope it comes to pass. I would much prefer to see Boba as Mandalore than Dinn. Don't get me wrong, I love Dinn, but he does not strike me as Mandalore material especially when he groveled for forgiveness from the Armorer. He should have removed his helmet right there, looked her in the eyes, and told her that he did it to save his Foundling, that he had no regrets in doing it to save him, and that by right of combat he is the wielder of the Dark Saber hence he does not answer to her, but she now answers to him as the new Mandalore, but he did none of that. Instead, he begged for forgiveness and plead for a way to make atonement. That is not the behavior of the true Mandalore, but instead a follower.
The mythosaur skull symbol above the forge door in Nevarro is the same as the symbol on the armorer's tool cabinet and Boba's armor. just saying. i still believe that Boba will be Mand'alor.
Boba Fett to become the Mand'alor? Just doesn't feel right with were his story is is going in this series. This episode setup the N-1 and Mando to be an available force when Boba takes on the Pikes. Season 3 might be about Din's quest for redemtion for removing his mask, along the way he will defeat 20 warriors, some of which have already been defeated (Moff Gideon, Paz Vizsla, etc) I think the Living Waters under the Mines will prove to have and additional inhabitant namely a Mythosaur long thought dead. When Din goes to be redeemed in the Living waters he will come across the Mythosaur and ride it out on to the surface. Possibly with the help of Grogu who will tame the creature with the force. Or maybe Luke helps Din open up to the Force during some lightsaber training, and Din tames it himself.
Thanks for this insightful video! Your take is legit! Best narrative and story I've seen so far! Great attention to the details and connecting them to the lore that makes it relevant to the context of the story. Subbed!
you're giving Disney star wars too much credit. They purposefully TANK OT characters to favor their own... just look at this Boba series. There is no excuse it couldnt be just as good and Mando seasons 1 & 2. we KNOW they can make a good show, so why does this show feel like another let down? the BEST episode of book of Boba Fett is the Mandalorian's story?? thats not an accident.

My bad, I should have followed the link before leaving my last comment. It seems you're fully aware of my concern.
My apologies sir.
Thing is, I've never seen any indication from boba that he gives a damn about being a mandalorian, the armour he wears is more homaged to jango, and that's about it
@@The_winds_of_change he wears the armor not to pay homage, but more to carry on the legacy of his doner and father, but yeah, I’ve seen only disinterest in Mandalorian culture beyond his/Jango’s right to his armor, and him basically specifically failing to say that he is Mandalorian when given prompting to confirm that he is
In the EU Boba ended up becoming Mandalore, but with the direction of unmandolrianing the original mandolorian that's unlikely.
Then you can all come back and say “I told you so” when I’m wrong. I’m open to that.
It’s all amazing writing. At least in my eyes.
Let's call it the SWCU
Id be fine with it if 90% if Boba wasnt either boring or just poorly made. The difference in filmmaking quality between Ep5 and the rest of Boba is night & day. Another thing that sucks is that they legitimately could have just made Mando about Boba and done everything the same. Grogu and all.

After I got done watching I forgot that I was watching the boba Fett series and I really wanted to see grogu's beskar
Din will become the leader of mandalore, boba is going to die just like he dies in the comics and books.
I like both for their own reasons, but man, I love that "Hotrodded" Naboo N1 Starfighter, I can't help but want a model of it *Bad*
I find Boba more compelling tbh
@@kingslayer011 I'm pretty sure they're setting up Boba as an independent force aside from the New Republic.
This gives Djarin a safe haven from Republic Authorities, and direct access to a proper mentor in the form of Boba Fett.
(Bear in mind that Boba's about 12-15 years older than Mando, and actually knows about more traditional Mandalorian history)
I see Mando season 3 revolving around Mando's growth into a leader, with Boba Fett's mentorship.

I won’t lie I shedded a tear reading this. Honestly this alone immediately bumped my rating to a 10/10! Great job!
Just my prediction but Mando technically already is Mandalore. I think he will lose the darksaber to Bo Katan and Boba will then win the darksaber from Katan becoming Mandalore. I've been thinking this since the end of Mando season 2.

I agree 💯

Either Boba will be the one to restore Mandalore, or by following Boba, Din will revive them. Legends can often have varying meanings.
What if it's Grogu that the legends speak of?
What if Grogu is the one that finds the mythasaur?
I'm not entirely disagreeing here, but in legends nearly every mandalorian, who believed himself to be one, carried a mythosaur skull around on his armor.
Yes, but each was shaped a little differently.
I'm not hugely read up on the lore of the Mandalorians in canon and legends, but I kinda got the impression that the mythosaur skull symbol was to the Mandalorians as the symbol of the cross was to Medieval Europeans - it's widespread, everyone is familiar with it, nearly everyone identifies with it, lots of people may have one on their person or around their home, there's lots of different variations of it but they are all easily recognizable as being the cross/skull.
the mythosaur is the symbol of clan keldau
I think Luke will train Mando to wield dark saber.

@@Devon.with.an.i The first season is fairly childish as the character of Ezra is getting established, but just like Ahsoka did in Clone Wars, he matures, and the later seasons are some of the best Star Wars around. Dude that sounds pretty legit. I hadn't paid attention to the various legends references in the past but it is very cool and clever. Great video!
I always thought so. However the badge on his chest plate is his clan.

I was hoping Din would ask her if she knew who Jango Fett was after Boba told him about his father. Would have been awesome.

@@Blazecap I've been saying that man! I'd love to see Open Seasons brought to live action with Daniel playing Jango.
Yeah something big is when din goes to the waters, Boba will go with him, and ride the Mythosaur that awakes from slumber
Maybe there’s a Mythosaur still surviving on Mandalore in the depths of Lake Mandalore & Din will ride it like a Freeman on a Sandworm.

Considering Boba already said he rode something bigger than a Rancor and he mounted that 6 leg monster in Ep. 2, this can go many ways. I'm expecting to see some amazing stuff from Boba the last two episodes, including riding a Rancor.
He will be riding it like a bantha
Could be. I could also see Luke (if he even shows up) not knowing what to do with the darksaber. It has very different properties from the lightsaber. Maybe he'll just share some wisdom about the force and move on? We'll see..
How would Luke teach him to use the dark Sabre?
Boba will reunite the Mandelorians by riding in on the back of a mythosaur.
@@DrewLSsix Same was Kanan showed Sabine?
I took it to mean that the wielder can take on 20 people and everyone behind them will fall from the intensity of the saber.
Imagine doing all that shit, just take off your stupid helmet lol
This is the first commentary that has made sense to me as to why Boba Fett was not in this episode. Great analysis. I’ve listened to other channels on this episode and this element was missing.
Other channels worry about money and are busy, Gerald here is a real fanatic for the mandalorian culture and is so humble bless his heart
Keep it up!
Thank you so much for that! I’m glad you enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoy making it! Top comment!
Bandwagoning, because they don't have their own opinion.

They saw Boba as a useless character and never read the Legends material. To them, Boba Fett only existed for 6 minutes and 38 seconds. It’s funny seeing them argue everything about Boba Fett. Some still say he died in the Sarlacc.
I like Boba but he’s nothing special. His character feels so bland. I watch the show mainly for the action and story, not for Boba.
@@nolan4826 ikr he lowkey boring
Herald is a key word. the one who is heralding something isn't always the one doing the thing
Isn’t a dark saber more heavier though then an actual light saber
Fun fact
In legends he actually fought against darth Vader almost to a standstill with a lightsaber he got of a Jedi
@@FixableHQ all lighrsabers are heavy to those that are unfocused.

He could join Boba's clan
dins kinda lost right now, not a mando but what? not a long shot like typical stories he'll try to get to the waters to "gain his honor back" but will find something else.
Very interesting. Will never have guessed the Jango Fett thread. To make tatooine the new home of the mandalorians? To unite the Tuskan tribes?
Thank you! Yeah it also goes along with Tem Morrison saying we will see Boba expand. I don’t think he meant the criminal empire, but rather his own journey.
Your show is outstanding I enjoy it very much keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
Boba IS NOT A MANDALORIAN.
@@kerosenn7016 What if it's a copy of the ball from his ship? That item was a symbol of their bond.
@@kerosenn7016 I'm guessing they're for beskar chainmail
I think the Armorer said beskar armaments are supposed to only be defensive in nature.
Here's how I think they could implement it:
*DISCLAIMER: I HAVEN'T READ ANY CANON MATERIAL ON THE SUBJECT AND I COULD BE VERY WRONG*
Before the Clone Wars there was the Mandalorian Civil War.
Here are some ways it could have happened:
1: Like in Open Seasons, the True Mandalorians are led into a trap leaving Jango as the sole survivor. He loses the blade and House Viszla takes it back. (But this doesn't explain how Pre was able to use it with little effort)
2: Jango is beaten by Pre Viszla and is either banished or Jango escapes (though I doubt Pre would let Jango live if they fought).
I hope so too. Thank you for that
I'm pretty sure they included this episode due to covid related delays in filming, originally book of boba was going to be 6 episodes, then out of nowherre they changed it to 7.
Hey love your vids and really love the “I can bring you in cold or I can bring you in worm”
Hmmmm that’s an interesting take.
I’m still holding on to hope.
That doesn't keep Boba out of sea 3....I still see more & more of a convergence of storylines as we move forward
I'm guessing we don't get to actually see him give Grogu the armor, I'm guessing it's more like he shows up at the beginning of next episode and he's like "alright I'm ready" and we see what happened in ep 1 of Mando 3
@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 I agree! It makes more sense.
That was the holiday special he rode that dinosaur thing
Omg a girl who likes Star Wars 🙀
Thank you for all that! I’m just having fun with it. But hopefully I’m right.
Well Boba Fett did become Mandalore in the books before Disney took over and I think you are right.
Also Din Djarin doesn't want to be a leader, you can see this when he defers to the armorer when in her presence or to anyone else willing to lead.
Absolutely love your theory man! Just subscribed and am definitely looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Thank you so much! Welcome to the tribe!
I loved this episode
The next episode is gonna be LIT
@@indigdoc chill my dude
The creature in the special was called an ichthyodont
Also, remember that when this series was announced, it was described as "The Mandalorian season 2.5"
Absolutely setting up for Boba to play a bigger part, and I believe this episode shed a LOT of light on what exactly that part will be!!!
Yeah, I know a lot of people didn't like this episode, but when you look at it it really makes the whole show very important.
Meaning she does in fact, consider Boba to be Mandalorian, despite her implicit hatred for clones.
not sure about this... Bobba himself states " I never claimed to be mandalorian" it that same episode...so I dont know if I'm sold on that idea.
Boba will rise as the Mythosaur, not as the Mandalore who will be Din after his quest to find the living waters that will bring life back to the Mandalorians.
This is exactly what I have been telling my friends. That this episode not only closed a few doors but opened so many more.... Especially for Boba. I think Mando season three will be the rebirth of Mandalore with Boba
It was one of the best pieces of Star Wars content ever because of the story it is building.
When The Armorer said that I instantly thought of Boba. This is so cool.
Same here! Thank you
I have a few theories:
1) Boba creates his own Darksaber or takes the Darksaber from Din.
Who knows?
The Krayt idea sounds pretty neat. Would be sweet if Boba gets a blade that’s White with a Black edge, as an inverted form of the Dark Saber.
I just don't know if Boba would ever want to handle a Light Saber given that one killed Jango.

I believe hence Boba's vision, as well I think Gerald believes this as well I'm not sure
I do think Din and Grogu will reunite, the hint that I see is the droid pod on Din's new ship is perfect for little Grogu.

now i see what you ment.. and all i can say is, YES!!!!! Boba As Mandalore!!! and it makes a lot of sense, Janog being the Rightful Mandalore and Boba being his son, it is his right.
lets face it, Boba isnt doing too well as a crime boss, but maybe ruling as Mandalore is his true calling.
Yes!!
And Boba is a clone of Jango so basically is Jango DNA wise.
Exactly! All of what you said is correct.
Exactly. Grogu is too heavily on his mind.
Din doesn't care about what Paz has to say, he accepted to prove the point that he both earned and deserved the Darksaber.
boba fett did say he's ridden creatures 10x the size of his new young rancor
Yup he rode the Paar's ichthyodont 🤓
I like this take. it's thoughtful, well researched, and isn't shot form the hip like so many others out there.
Boba vs Din Battle in the season Finale climax confirmed 😂
Its 👌
Dude, that's an awesome theory and I dig it.
I don't want to bring that here but the Darksaber seems to work like the wands in Harry Potter.
Also bringing the mythosaur seems convinient when Boba mentions riding something bigger than a Rancor.
No, the comparison is great! The darksaber’s true meaning is ever evolving. Now it isn’t just an inanimate object.
The darksaber doesn´t work like some stupid Harry Potter wand.
@@Mysikrysa it would appear it does
@@starwarsroo2448 It doesn´t.
How was Gideon able to wield it, ha?
I wanna see boba pick up the sabre and wield it perfectly and then explain tore vs jango and then mando look at grogu amd then say its yours.
The tore vs jango could even be a flashback
I’d love to see that flashback! We need that in live action. I’ve made my own fan fictions about that whole series…making it more modern to fit canon.
@@StarWarsFanatic yeah it would be an awesome series as its own too with obi wan and qui gon could show up
If DIn Djarin doesn't discover a Mythosaur and then become the ruler of New Mandalore, frriendly to Jedi this time, I would honestly be surprised as everything points to that character developement and the return of Mandalore as a galactic faction.
See the next video. I fixed it
@@StarWarsFanatic Great work!!! Love your videos man!!!
din taking his helmet off dosen't keep him from becoming or bringing together the rest of the Mandalorians. remember, its only a small sect who do this. bo Katan has no issues nor her crew.
I really like your theory and thank you for pointing it all out. This last episode was so good
Personally, I'd prefer that Boba Fett did nor become Mandelore. I like the direction they took with him as a crime lord. I could see Boba and Din on opposing sides in the future.
I don't know, I feel like Din deserves allies and friends.
I dont think Boba would leave his domain for the group of people he had very little in common, he is a mandalorian by blood and not by culture.
He wouldn’t have to fight Din.
I think that maybe in the remaining episodes we will see Din be Disarmed of the saber and Boba will pick it up and fight a few guys off with it, no weight no worries, just slashing and hacking away like it was part of his arm already.
But he will give the Dark saber back to Din when it is all over and say something like "I thought you said it was heavy."
We won't have conclusion until well into season 3 of Mando. If they do Book 2 of Boba Fett it will be him expanding on Tat and maybe collecting some other Mandoa to his side. Building the family so to speak.
@@Armoless this is my theory as well. Outside of the fact that I think it will be Mando season 3, where Boba becomes Mandalore.
@@Armoless you never watched Rebels I take it. Sabine also struggled with the saber at the beginning until she fought past her demons.
Boba is not entitled to the Dark Saber. No one is unless it's won in battle
Well done
Thank you so much!
Great point i like it, thanks 😉
The mythosaur skull symbol above the forge door in Nevarro is the same as the symbol on the armorer's tool cabinet and Boba's armor. just saying. i still believe that Boba will be Mand'alor.
And what if the Tuskens are a lost tribe of the Taung? Just a thought. It’s far fetched but…
@@StarWarsFanatic yeah. it is a bit far fetched but it would be fun if they are.
Boba Fett to become the Mand'alor? Just doesn't feel right with were his story is is going in this series. This episode setup the N-1 and Mando to be an available force when Boba takes on the Pikes.
Season 3 might be about Din's quest for redemtion for removing his mask, along the way he will defeat 20 warriors, some of which have already been defeated (Moff Gideon, Paz Vizsla, etc)
I think the Living Waters under the Mines will prove to have and additional inhabitant namely a Mythosaur long thought dead.
When Din goes to be redeemed in the Living waters he will come across the Mythosaur and ride it out on to the surface. Possibly with the help of Grogu who will tame the creature with the force. Or maybe Luke helps Din open up to the Force during some lightsaber training, and Din tames it himself.
@@MrOvertoad i respectfully disagree
@@MrOvertoad I like your theory.
Did you not catch the concept of this vid?
Lol why even comment
