I deleted this comment by accident and had to repost. Underneath the last one was a question "what made you make this video?" I really like my answer and think it explains my reason well so....i copied and pasted it...."Thanks! I hated the question of whether mark hates the films or not just hanging in the air as "possible" and abstract.... Also (to comment on the other thing you mentioned) bioshock is one of my favorite games of all time!"
Lmfao you hit the nail on the head bro. Disney's Star Wars is in a state of disrepair. Unfortunately, even if they do fix it they'll never give it back the same luster it had as George's brainchild.
Even so, they wouldn’t dare touch him. Even if the franchise moves on, he still is the face of the brand. This is a ‘devil’ they can work with. If they stop paying him or including him and terminate any contracts, he’ll let loose. 50% honesty with hints of 99% or the full 100%?
@leahcim38 That's a dramatic misrepresentation of potentially millions of people. Making determinations about how you feel is fine but if you go around speaking on behalf of others by way of conjecture, you're guaranteed to be making mistakes. You can have your cake and eat it too... so can everyone else though.
@leahcim38 I think this is the point. Star wars could have been a huge money maker for the next few decades for Disney if they found a way to accommodate the old fans and the new ones - which is why they paid billions for it. As it is they haven't and as such its now never going to achieve the heights of marvel and its pretty uncertain where it ends going forward.
What an Idiot this JJ guy is. Bringing palatine back is a grave mistake as well. Ive seen every piece of film and tv by Star Wars but may not even watch Rise of Skywalker.
Just think about how from one whacky dream from George Lucas gave us 40 years of amazing experiences. Star Wars will always be my favorite franchise, even if the movies are controversial. Edit: I was not there for the beginning of Star Wars, I hope that was obvious
I kind of dislike George for selling his "baby" to Disney...And I had been right when I first heard he is was going to do it. Greedy bastard. Thank God for Mark to humiliate this pieces of garbage everywhere he goes.
Both Carrie and Mark unlike Ford really cherished their role and are;were happy to play those characters. If you saw that Carrie Fisher documentary then you saw how her whole home is filled with Star Wars memorabilia. Both were happy to talk about Star Wars in interviews. If anything, Mark should direct any new Star Wars movies cause I think he understands Star Wars the best and more than anyone else on the planet.
The worst part of all is that there can never be a do over. That's it. What we got is what we got and we have to deal with it. It's really depressing to think about.
Spicy Puffin : Star Wars is dead. It’s over. Seriously, the only story that could be told was Luke training a new Jedi and handing down “Excalibur” to his main padowan, just like Obi Wan and Luke in ANH. There can be no other story. I’ve been thinking and thinking what could be a good story to tell, and I can’t come up with anything. The Sith returning would be basically the whole PT again. Sith comes, Jedi defeat them.....this story has already been told. Star Wars is stuck in a hole, because unlike Marvel, they cannot create a new bad guy. In the Marvel Universe there are an unlimited amount of villains available. In Star Wars it’s only the Sith. Having the Sith coming back is doing the whole ST again. And there is a clear and present danger that Star Wars will become a superhero type of movie, in which the Force will act as a superpower. It’ll basically become a comic book movie. If you or anyone’ can come up with a better story do tell.
Honestly i just think you had way different hopes and expectations for the story and u simply didnt get what u wanted so everyones complaining. Even mark hamill in one of the clips here doesn’t seem to get it. He was surprised how someone as hopeful and optimistic as luke ended up in a secluded island by himself. Well first of all, if you watch the movie, it explains why. Also lets not pretend that, that isnt exactly what kenobi and yoda did as well., both of which felt terrible and responsible for the rise of Darth Vader. Why wouldn’t luke feel the same type of regret when he has lost not only one of his best students, but also his nephew. He failed Han solo, Leia, The whole jedi order and the lives of the students he was training. No wonder he would think the jedi order were evil and unfair, it even clouded his judgment which led to him thinking about taking his own nephews life. Thankfully, he regains that hope back once rey shows some promise, and is reassured by yoda that she’ll be a great fit for a jedi. Like it or not, the character development in The last jedi was incredible, it just sucks that RJ didnt continue with his vision for it, instead we get a trilogy with three different visions for the plot and characters, which makes it all look horrible in the bigger picture

I was really looking forward to such a reunion scene. It would have meant a lot for the cast and the franchise and it was an opportunity that the sequel trilogy looked at and ran away from like it was a plague. Now it's impossible. The original cast acted together on the sets of the original movie and the writers never reunited on the same stage to finish their own story. They chose to make the "Skywalker" saga about everyone but the Skywalkers who started it all. The writers tried a Fire Emblem style approach to generational story telling and just fumbled it from start to finish with the sequel trilogy.
Feuerherz55 I know but anything that bashes TLJ I enjoy I truly feel bad for the guy some dude was telling me he (mark hamill) likes his character now in TLJ. I just can’t believe it he’s talked against it too many times
Vader’s crimes: Started by butchering an entire temple full of children, and then continuing to do horrible things for Lukes entire life. Luke: “there’s still good in him.” Ben’s crimes: being in exactly 1 bad dream Luke had and literally nothing else. Luke: “my nephew is irredeemable, and MUST be killed in his sleep.” Edit: please stop feeding the troll in these replies. They have been ratio’d on every single comment they’ve made, just let them seethe at this point.
You don't think Luke would be highly traumatized by everything that was happened and that he constantly sees ghosts now? I think that might be possible that it drove him insane and made him depressed.
@@eduardopena5893 psychology does NOT say that. 1. You can’t just quote “psychology” *in general* as if that proves your point. And 2: Luke Skywalker is a fictional character, not a real person. “Trauma” is a cheap excuse to justify writing Luke *ANTITHETICAL* to who he was without any character arc justifying it. 3. If Mark Hammil thinks this is out of character, I’m inclined to agree.
SeraphinoII yeah at least the prequels were original and they didn’t fully ruin the original franchise and didn’t render a lot of the sacrifices for example anakins useless
Fredinator84 exactly this is bullshit, if Mark edited the script and all of his ideas were incorporated the film would be better. He is one of the closest people to understand the Jedi, Disney just through everything that George made in the trash, Mark has taken some of the things he noted and became knowledgeable of the Star Wars universe. Many of the plot holes would be gone and Rey would be less of a Mary Sue. Now if George wrote it, it would have been golden with that budget. They don’t listen to the fans or the people who experienced it themselves. They just care about pleasing sjws and making money. If they had listened to Mark’s suggestions then the trilogy would not have had such a downward spiral, they could have saved the characters and made for some epic moments. Disney’s studios are destroying Star Wars.
Luke wasn’t willing to kill Vader, one of the most evil men in the galaxy; but tries to kill one of his students who he thought would become evil? Disney is a disgrace and I’m convinced they haven’t watch the OT
he didnt try and kill him, it was a momentary impulse that he never carried through with. it just showed that he was terrified of a second darth vader forming when kylo started to slip to the darkside and luke saw all the misery happening all over again and breifly contemplated ending the disaster right there. it was just an impulse, a thought he never entertained, and he was caught. TLJ and the whole sequel trilogy had its problems fosho but some subtle character points people didnt quite get with luke. for me the problem was more they just had no plan to tie the 3 movies together and 'winged it' as they went
@@kurjekkolds1489 no he literally DIDNT swing down on him. That was kylos version. Im not defending all disney star wars but johnson tried to give luke some depth and It backfired. Johnson had some subtle ideas but the entire trilogy was a mess
You know you fucked up when a 4 minute cameo in a Disney+ tv show created more hype than an entire trilogy. Mark was right all along he never ever changed his opinion and I bet he had a blast with Mando.

Would have made more money if the first movie focused on the original cast 'together' on a mission, it is what the vast majority wanted. Disney knew that.
Idk if it’s necessarily Disney’s fault. I think it’s more of the writers and directors fault. In my opinion, the only thing Disney did wrong was allow these stories to go up
@@sbaxter4207 Both of them. The fans and the George Lucas Creation. Disney just wanted money, money, money. And didn't care a shit about the first incredible trilogy.
“A Jedi would never give up” - you are absolutely right, Mark… Luke would never give up. Kathleen Kennedy failed you, she failed Luke, and she failed Star Wars.
How did she do that? It was Rian Johnson’s decision that ruined Luke and Star Wars. Whenever I ask people what Kathleen did they can never give me a clear answer…
Redboy I feel like he would get a deep satisfaction from it and people would love to watch it. Maybe he is in fact the last hope to bring some sense into the franchise.
Similarly when he says "Daisy's character.... what was her name..... (crickets, then the audience chimes in a little) ... Oh yeah, Rey...." Well played Mark Hamill, i love that he tried to talk sense into the morons who ignored him.
One thing I noticed in all these shill interviews is “what did you learn from working from all these diverse new young stars?” Not once did they ask if any of the new kids asked him for advice or mentoring since he’s the Star Wars veteran. Just shows the entire tone of the movies and culture as a whole
Ehh, it's a little lopsided in that direction but there were a few of them that asked "did you mentor them, what'd they learn from you as the star wars guru?" More telling is that the answer is no, and nothing.
@@gtvrossa yeah I wish I didnt think of it:( but I had to remind people who maybe are on the fence about sequel trilogy hate that they stole the little time we had left with these actors to make a bland movie which isnt even about them and makes them look like idiots who couldn't establish a republic or jedi order in the last 30-40 years.
GTV 916 in Disney’s defence, Harrison Ford asked them to kill him off. He’d never really liked the Han Solo character, and had not wanted to reprise the character in another movie.

Goes along with my theory that the Last Jedi was Rian Johnson's post modernist masterpiece. Nothing matters and everything is wrong. Not that it matters, because nothing matters. You just got Johnsoned. Just because its different, does not make it better.
@Marie This is all a part of what's happening in the ongoing culture war. The progressive victim culture openly attacks values like hope in favor of relentless misanthropism, in order to fuel perpetual outrage. Climate doomsayers closely overlap with this group.
The idiot is going, "Can you even imagine?" Is so stupid. Like dude, you're talking to the main character of the first three movies who had two scenes in the movie he's talking about.
The dumbest thing they could have done is alienate Mark Hamill. He's the one who has the special connection with fans. If they just kept him happy he would have promoted Disney's trilogy for them, instead of trolling it constantly. That's inept leadership.
The solution to winning back the fans & lifting the stink of The Last Jedi is so obvious it's no wonder nobody at Disney has thought of it. Give Mark Hamill his own Skywalker movie. Give him creative control & either let him direct it himself, bring back Colin Trevorrow or get someone shit hot like Todd Phillips. Explain his dark journey into becoming an ''embittered hermit" with a fetish for milking alien titty monsters. Give him the best send off in history & the fans will come back!!
It's like a person comes along and thinks they will make something better than the one who has been doing it for longer. "You're old, you don't know what you're talking about anymore"
Good to hear you’re going to have him pass on his force Hamon gay love to Rey making her the ultimate force to be messed with, then forced awakened anakin pops in from his pure intent to destroy Mary Sue butt hole with his rod of neutrality
Dylan Barnhart dude. I just realized. The cake that they had at the party after crushing the empire was poisoned with the stand virus, hence rey’s larri stew-ishness combined with dio’s dog kicking tendencies and giorno’s haircut. Can’t forget Luke’s stand at the end of the last Jedi
i know, right? for all their many MANY flaws, the prequels are at least still pretty interesting, they have plots that mostly make sense, and they're full of iconic moments. can't say the same for the disney, uh, stuff.

@BalF This comment is ridiculous. It is very obvious that Mark does indeed care about his character as seen through his comments of disappointment. Mark Hamill is *THE* Luke Skywalker, he doesn't need to do shit for the paycheck, he does it because he loves the story, and is upset with how the writers essentially ruined it.
That's not where the Story was going! even if George lucas would've been comepletely in charge it wouldn't have happened like that. You know why? because george wants to tell a story not redo the original trilogy.
The problem with Ray is that they didn't even bother to take the time to give her character development. She's just magically better than everyone else. Lightsabers and the Force became just normal weapons instead of important symbols of powerful people who trained and persisted in their endeavors. It's just a massive disrespect with the actors and Georg's universe.
All i see out of Rey is no texture, or saturation for her character, add a G to her name and it all makes more sense than the senseless agenda they’re trying to spoon feed everyone in recent years.
@@froggystyle9068 She was laughably badass in the first sequel with no explanation or training dueling kylo ren at the end. Can't speak to the other movies because I didn't watch them.
I think most fans agree that wasn't Luke.. Disney should do a TV series about Luke's Jedi academy, if for no other reason than Hamill can come back and play his (and our) Luke Skywalker for a time. But also so the fans who have been watching Luke since the late 70s can finally see his return!
@@Me__Myself__and__I Curious how a Mark Hamill directed or written series would look. I feel like it could be good as long as he has people to criticize and help him.
@@popo0129 But is Mark Hamill a good director & writer? Just checked IMDB he's got 2 directing credits and no writing. He doesn't have the skills for that. But he does have 341 acting credits and he is Luke Skywalker. So lets stick with that.

So Mark Hamill, THE MAN WHO LITERALLY HAS BEEN LUKE FOR YEARS... doesn’t even understand what tf Luke is doing in these movies. Now that’s a problem Disney.
It’s kinda ridiculous how they fuck up his character, when he started the ENTIRE franchise revolved around him, there wasn’t even meant to be more movies in the beginning. 5 and 6 were still good and kept his character dignity(cause of George Lucas). The prequels were awesome and honestly my favorite part of the franchise but then they went the other direction WITH A DIFFERENT DIRECTOR(S) who had all power to twist his character. It’s interesting hearing him say “I guess it’s just the new generation” it’s like he’s learning to accept his fate and go with it but deep down he still doesn’t like it
@syed jawad I think now that the sequels are out, there won't be a lot of prequel shitters left, because they realized that in comparison to the utter CRAP disney shat out, the prequels are gold. (to me the OT is still Diamond.)
Marks constantly right. He raises awesome points about the fans that we couldn’t even articulate! Mark you were shocked that there wasn’t the backlash you expected but we couldn’t explain. There was too much wrong with this new sequels
Imagine having access to Mark Hamill, somebody that knows Luke inside and out and cares about Star Wars deeply and not listening to any of his input, tragic.
Wow! Thanks for putting these together! Mark's comment is very logical, right to the point, objective and not emotional. He is a true "Jedi Veteran" and the production team should put down their self echo and listen to his suggestions and comments.
the Jedi are taught to never get too high or too low over something. if someone was so weak minded to just abandon the force cuz of a mistake they made then they would have never been a Jedi Master in the first place. Disney doesnt friken know Star Wars
Actual genuine Adam Jensen Same. I had high hopes from the first trailer. A tough girl that grew up hearing about Jedi legends teams up with an ex-stormtrooper? Sounds awesome! And then they ruined that great premise.
That's another reason why I couldn't finish The Force Awakens. You can clearly see in Harrison Ford's eyes he didn't want to be there, I stopped watching after seeing his first scene on Netflix. I think they knew it was bad.
How does the director not listen to Mark, it’s HIS character, HE knows HIS character better than anyone. Screw those directors for ruining Luke’s legacy.
No, it's not his character. He is just acting the character that is written for him, you know, just like in the original trilogy. Also, a director doesnt equal a writer.
They didn’t just ruin Luke’s legacy. They ruined the legacy of Star Wars. Such is the case with many films of this current generation. The films of this generation are trash. They don’t cultivate hard work as the solution, power is just given at random. It’s like this everywhere. With the new trilogy, with The Legend of Korra, with Boruto, and more. Then again the hard work of those who worked on the original shows/films was simply discarded and these half butt idiots that have the rights to these shows now simply just throw words on a page and nothing more, all because they know it will make money even if it’s horrible. No wonder these films don’t have what the old ones did. Because the generation that made the new ones don’t know hard work. They don’t know perseverance. They don’t know what it is to worry that no one would ever read or watch what they’ve written. They don’t know what it’s like to love the characters, they don’t know what it’s like to love the story, they don’t know what it’s like to cry with the characters on the hurtful parts, or laugh with them at the happy ones. Or to clench their fists when fights go down, fights where no one knows the outcome. These new generation people DONT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE IT AT ALL. They don’t deserve our money
Jose Archuleta because it’s freaking Disney. They don’t give a shit about what anyone has to say, no matter how much experience they may have. All they truly care about underneath it all, is how can they milk this cow for the utmost cash they can get. And you know what? Probably the most sickening part, is that it fucking worked...

I had a dream last night where the rebels were celebrating the downfall of the empire, and in an outer region of space a kaminoan clone data console flickered, and flashed the words "Prototype GenDat unit 01: Codename Emperor destroyed" It was already a better sequel I regret waking up. Luke and Leia and Han and Chewie then went on to fight a new, more advanced clone army that was being prepared as a second wave. Palpatine actually died but revealed he was only a pawn in a much larger game. Luke was visited by the force ghost of his father in moments of desperation, Leia trained hard but couldn't perceive him and it hurt her but she learned to deal with help from Han. Ben and Rey were born, both were incredibly gifted from a young age with the force. Ben died at 13 protecting his younger sister Rey from droids, she took his lightsaber in her other hand and trains hard not to fall to the dark side after losing her brother. She eventually stood by Luke and Leia's side as a great Jedi after many struggles. The kaminoans are very gifted in making clones and genetic modification, but are unable to be force sensitive themselves. Much like general grievous, they are talented in agile combat and do learn sith and Jedi fighting techniques while also augmenting their own force ability with genetic augmentation. They are formidable enemies using their previous clone trials and jedi/sith gene shit to have become a much more powerful threat from the shadows. Fuck you JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson my sleeping brain comes up with better movie ideas than yours combined and I'm hungover. A real problem that star wars writing faced, that game of thrones writing and several other franchises have faced or will face soon, is that when you beat the bad guy, the Next guy has to bigger and badder. Ahem. Dragon ball z, mcu and others come to mind. Doesn't mean you have to shit the bed and destroy 6 movies of world building to create legitimate conflict with an expansive universe on the scale that Star Wars is on.

you'd think he's grown narcissistic but when you really think of it the story must be about every important character, and they completely ignored his attributes and take his name just so that he fits in the story
Just to put my two cents in, my interpretation of that line would be, the Star Wars movies will no longer revolve around the "The Chosen One" trope, because as far as we know, the two "chosen ones" were Anakin and Luke. Plus, if you watch the first six movies in chronological order, you'd definitely be able to deduce that all plot points would end up with the light side trumping the dark. Also, the continuity of the first six is very obvious, but in a good way. Episode III ends in a good enough position to know that you should be A New Hope next, and shows a decent flow of events. But the new trilogy just kinda kicks in without any signs of the previous movies ever happening other than the returning cast.

Instead he got to work on an unmotivated Luke that was to be written out of the series, but still be used as what is essentially a glorified cameo. It's funny... I always liked Mark Hamill's acting, especially as Luke, yet I just somehow never had a big attachment to Luke in the original trilogy. However, after the flop of the "sequel trilogy", I actually feel a much stronger appreciation for the character of Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy. That type of character development as Luke had, as per some kind of space opera, with the acting power of Mark Hamill in a setting with physical props to boot... you hardly see that these days. In fact, you can't represent a Jedi such as Luke Skywalker much better than that; it's as good as it gets. And the sequel trilogy did absolutely nothing with that. And Mark Hamill will know that if it was made to be Luke's story, if it became his story, he could've done oh so much more... for the ENTIRE sequel trilogy, even. Such a shame to sideline such a pivotal character and such a great actor.
@@imrecco it technically has ............ And also he can do better than Disney at any time We've done it with DC we can do it with Star Wars #SaveStarWars
The fact Mark said "this is not what a Jedi does..." then listed their qualities really shows how much he pays attention and cares, not just about his character, but the wider Star Wars lore too.
I think it says a lot that most people who got involved with the first film didn't really believe in it, but they did their darn best with it and now it's impacted the whole industry. Mark's ability to immerse himself into the character is what made Luke so believable to start with. He was the audience's guide into this strange new world and if he couldn't preform that the films would have flopped. I don't think I'll ever be in a position where his lived experience culminates to what essentially butchered and ripped up what he'd help build. We can all see the turbulence of emotions behind his eyes and the restrained outbursts he has... because I do believe he actually tried to restrain himself when speaking out.
Luke's core character trait was hope. Throwing that away for Last Jedi was part of why Last Jedi failed. The other part was attempting to subvert expectation in episode 8 of 9; that is some epic level foolishness.
@@CreateHubTips sure but not for Luke not for that long and he wouldn't be THAT bitter and disrespectful. They need to run these ideas by a group of real Star Wars fans before ruining a beloved franchise
A lot of people are saying this is depressing, heartbreaking. In some ways it is, but what's tremendous is a man speaking his mind, not the crap Hollywood pushes. He's spot on too. Its a breath of fresh air. Legend.
i think the part that makes it depressing is the fact that he doesn't think the fans care. The clip around 13:30 made it sound like he never heard fans say how wrong it was for Han not to die with the original cast present. It's things like that which makes it pretty sad. Though it is good that so many people rejected the Last Jedi since it is a lot more likely he saw fans in an uproar because of it.
He's not, though. He's being PC and holding back, when it would be great to just say, yeah, the movie sucks (not so much as a movie, but as a Star Wars movie and bird flipping to Luke).
I totally agree.... his disappointment is so obvious, he isn't even that subtle... I think it took balls for him to subvert Disney, Kennedy, Rias Johnson, JJ Abrams like this...
Well when ur rich and old. Then u don’t have to worry about business or possible signing with Disney in the future. He didn’t need this job he came back to fulfill Luke. Same reason Magic Johnson steped down from being the president of the Lakers. He came to fulfill the lakers. Where he was his whole career. He didn’t need the job. He’s rich as hell
@@spider-man5262 He (Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan) should get his own story during the pre-New Hope after-Revenge era, if true star wars creators like Dave Filoni would work on it. None of that Jar Jar Abrams or the arch destructor of narrative and story Rian Johnson.

Last Jedi is a good movie. It is not a bad movie just because it wasn't directly geared toward the hard core of obsessive Star Wars fans who feel they know what a Star Wars movie should be and feel entitled to demand that from the creators of each next one-who want each new Star Wars movie to return to everything they liked about each previous one. In fact, if they do that, we're going to get a shrinking, terminally recursive story. That's how we got Rise of Skywalker, which is just objectively very very bad. After all of the mewling we did about the prequels for the reason that they were bad, I was under the impression that what we really wanted out of Star Wars movies was for them to be good space adventure movies. Last Jedi showed me that I was incorrect in that assumption.
frams12 maybe it was a good movie for half of the fan base. No one can argue that it split the fan base in half. Was it a smart choice? Idk. The only smart choice they made, I feel, was making the Mandalorian. Every starwars fan appreciated that.
frams12 we aren’t saying it was bad because it didn’t appeal to hardcore fans, we’re saying it was bad because IT WAS BAD, like how they pandered to sjw’s, or how decisions characters made made absolutely no sense, or how the plot from this movie had nothing to do with the last one, they hardly even spoke about the events of the last movie, aside from Rey meeting Luke, also let’s talk about Rey, she is a complete Mary Sue, she’s somehow able to take on the praetorian guards in snokes chamber without having ANY experience with a light saber aside from swinging it around for a few seconds at Luke’s island, also how she’s able to contend with kylo who’s had tons of experience and training not just from snoke but from Luke as well, and you might say, well that’s because she’s a palpatine, which seems like a plausible explanation until you realize that most Mary Sue’s have some sort of excuse to their “Mary Sueness”, and even then she still shouldn’t be that powerful and adept with a lightsaber. We were excited to hear something about Snoke’s backstory but nope, he’s dead, deal with it, we wanted to hear something about why Kylo turned to the darkside but no, come TROS he’s dead too. It wasn’t just TLJ that was bad, it was the whole sequel trilogy
@@frams12 Even before I started getting into Star Wars I already knew TLJ was an awful movie. You don't need to be a Star Wars fan to know that it was a really bad film, but it certainly helps.
7:02 Hamill had to literally convince himself that 'This isnt Star Wars, pretend this is a different movie' in order to give the right performance. He decanonised this trilogy in his head in order to go on with filming
he’s kind of correct really. i certainly didnt feel like i was watching star wars when i saw last jedi in the theatres, even when there were lightsabers on screen.
The demand for a new trilogy was specifically to adapt Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. Nobody wanted a random sequel trilogy with a new plot. They wanted to see the books made into films.
Attlanttizz Yoda did to some degree but he actually realized he allowed a sith lord and an entire empire to be created without any knowledge and could not defeat palpatine. But yoda’s exile he never lost faith in the force.
@ObviouslyKieran Yoda and Obi-Wan went into exile because they realised they fucked up. They realised that they allowed a sith lord and an entire empire to be created under their noses, so they went into exile because they needed to re-study the force and let the next generation to take over.
Holy shit, that occurred to me. Luke, Leia, and Han never had a reunion. With all the fanservice they tried to throw in, they NEVER did this. That's such bullshit.
this is honestly unbelievable... such a waste of potential, time, vision... they really f*cked it up. we could've had it all, and they could've made twice the money if only they weren't so arrogant.
"Somehow, Palpatine returned" will forever live in infamy. The sheer laziness and cluelessness from all the decision-makers involved, not to mention the absolute lack of plan for the trilogy to be a cohesive story, it's just astounding that there weren't more people fired after this absolute disaster.
Ford had nothing to lose after all. Star wars was one of his minor roles, he didn't miss it. Mark on the other hand? Star wars basically was 99% of his career. What else did he have? A few movies besides star wars nobody really cares about. Oh yeah and he voiced Chucky. Which I didn't even knew about since most recently because I never bothered to watch these movies in English (and neither did millions worldwide). So star wars basically is/was Hamill's whole career. Sad but true.
Yeah he was the Joker but again, nobody knows who doesn't watch or play this in English, so the majority of people globally don't know these roles. And careers have to be judged on international scales nowadays, we are a globalized human society. And you can turn this how you like but Hamill's career is pale compared to Ford's. So the point is and remains valid.
Would’ve kinda ruined Rey’s arc for the film though. That’s the issue, the story they wanted to tell with the new characters needed a disgruntled mentor character so they shoehorned Luke into that role.
@THE FIRE RISES The Force Awakens was most certainly a coherent narrative. Did it have the respect for Luke it should have? Maybe not, but it was definitely coherent.

You can have your cake and eat it too... so can everyone else though.
@leahcim38 I think this is the point. Star wars could have been a huge money maker for the next few decades for Disney if they found a way to accommodate the old fans and the new ones - which is why they paid billions for it.

Huh? But pleasing him would've meant going down a different path with the plot and acts - they would've had to make a good movie!

@@hxnter1390 beyond ridiculous considering Hamill likely didn't see a full script until TLJ.

The prequels were awesome and honestly my favorite part of the franchise but then they went the other direction WITH A DIFFERENT DIRECTOR(S) who had all power to twist his character.
It was already a better sequel I regret waking up.

Both Luke and Mark have the balls to face an entire empire on their own
Underrated coment
So true, well said!!
Most Jedi thing to do in front of all of us and them. A real hero.

The fact Mark said "this is not what a Jedi does..." then listed their qualities really shows how much he pays attention and cares, not just about his character, but the wider Star Wars lore too.
I literally said the same thing after watching that movie. Mark was right Abrams was wrong let's do a remake
It is not that far fetched. We know two jedis that secluded themself like hermits. Yoda and Obi-Wan!!
Legend.
Yeah, still cant believe he had the balls to do that lol
i think the part that makes it depressing is the fact that he doesn't think the fans care.

Mark Hamil and Ewan McGregor are the people that best represent Star Wars.
Lord Alex agreed Ewan mcgregor as obi wan is personally my favourite character in Star Wars lore
Lord Alex I don’t know when it’s going to take place but Ewan mcgregor is coming back as obi wan in a tv series and to be-honest i think it will be good especially considering how good the mandalorian tv series is hopefully they can get John favreau to write it.lets just hope it’s not like the Disney Star Wars movies tho.

You know a movie is bad if the actors know more about the lore of the franchise than the directors
@@frams12 ok ok, we get it, you don't know what a formula is.
frams12 maybe it was a good movie for half of the fan base.

They even cut away form Luke’s reaction to being told Han died
I recently learned the concept of “nostalgia baiting” in the film industry and yeah the sequel trilogy is one of the worst offenders.
It's because Harrison Ford is so anti star wars that they couldn't convince him to show up for the second movie
Disney purposefully marketed it to fans like all the heroes would see each other again, only to smack fans in the faces by going "lol nope!"
this is honestly unbelievable... such a waste of potential, time, vision... they really f*cked it up. we could've had it all, and they could've made twice the money if only they weren't so arrogant.

It would be good at all. Unlike the actual scene
