Marianne Faithfull, one of the iconic figures of sixties music, has sustained a successful and highly acclaimed career for 40 years. This concert was filmed in Hollywood in spring 2005. I can tell you, EVERYTHING was more civilized in 1979. The culture, the music the people, society. By every metric the 70's were the pinnacle of civilization.

A lot of music is made by people in their youth. It is absolutely an amazing time in your life to be making music. And some of them produce amazing art and die before they see thirty. A real shame. But I didn't know shit until I hit forty. And I love music and want to hear new stuff and be inspired and excited. Fuck age. It has nothing to do with taste and pleasure and appreciation.

@hpribot True, we can not go back in time, but you know, when people have great memories to cherish, growing old is not so bad after all. If I look for instance to the band called Heart then and now, the difference is clear, but I liked them in the old days just as much as I like them now. Same goes for so many musicians. Ofcourse not all are as good as they used to be, but most of them are still rocking,never gave up, and that I admire. And Marianne is still beautiful in my opinion.

I am sorry that comments I made offended some. Perhaps what I'm expressing is that some singers and groups, famous many years ago, come back to perform. The problem is that they are different, the music they make is different; we, we are different. I loved many songs when I was a pup, but to see The Beatles today, bent over, grey haired men, it would not go well with me. You can't go back in time and bring it all back.

I admit disappointment. From the late entrance to the slight lyric change to the fast speed. Add that not even the famous bass line is correct and all the mystery and drama is gone. At least she does sing it well...

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, the guitar was not the only lead instrument. Broaden your horizons, I admit some great Sax solos go perfect with this song.
