Her parents and grandparents sound fascinating... Marianne was a friend of my family... she contacted me recently after my uncle died which is so lovely... gorgeous clever lady
You are lucky to be in touch with her. Fascinating family and gorgeous clever Lady are some of the things that occur to us when chatting about her... Will buy and read her book and then may try to comment it. Folk singer as it has been said? - yes, in some or many of her songs, she is. But she has also dealt with pop, jazz, cabaret songs, blues and even rock, and this is part of what makes her unique. She does what she pleases, and in the majority of the cases, she does it well. A very independent artist, aside from any trend always, apparently at least, doing what she pleases. To me that's fascinating, too, not only her life and way of being, or changes. The whole picture in its time frames, are passionating. A case in which the work, the person and her life, the whole makes an important portrait of someone. Unique, as we all are, but her music, story and herself are not those of all singers. Mariane Faithful is everything except common, though don't doubt she likes to consider herself one more. 🙄💜❤️👌

@@nancykelly6211 Have already bought and read it. Her father, her mother, her relative famous writer and her inner development, determining the first part of her life. The Sacher Masoch Baroness goes through a messing hell which started with Jagger Australian Tour staying on. From The Wall to her Sister Morphine recording, her Strange Weather cover and her Boulevard of Broken Dreams rendition, our fairy queen walks us through the sand of time wrhirlwinds to her rebirth. From Jagger, Richards, Waits and Cave, her jazz work landing becomes a lightning trail. The new life of this phoenix lady, is such a haunting trip, that kept me held tightly, all along the book. She filled up my expectations. Am awaiting her Second Authobiography Volume. 👍🏻❤️🤗😇

She is such a lovely woman- I love 'Rich Kid Blues' and I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in either Marianne Faithfull or folk music in general. Her voice is just savoury on that album-

I met Marianne when she and Mick Jagger visited Frank Zappa's log cabin in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood in 1968. They sat in the kitchen with Frank and his wife Gail. Mick and Marianne were like a double act - he spoke, she spoke, he spoke, she spoke. By contract, Gail never spoke when Frank entertained. She always sat mute, allowing Frank to hold centre stage. Such a contrast.
Marianne is amazing. The best live show I’ve ever seen.

God! Such a good and interesting Topic. The things about her family. And the interviewer ask the stupid ''how were u discovered" question again. I am sure we know that Story by now. And Poor M has to repeat it for decades now

Mr. Rosenberg refers to a songwriter by the name of Phil Ox, rhymes with box.
I believe he's talking about seminal folk singer/songwriter Phil Ochs - like an oak tree. It's just as bad as if he'd mentioned Bob Deelin. So I couldn't trust him to know what he was talking about. Couldn't go on.

And it would be a pity to not watch the rest, since Marianne has some very interesting things to say as the talk progresses, even if you can't trust me to know what *I'm* talking about. Thank you for correcting my pronunciation of Ochs; I had said it the way I've heard it (incorrectly) said for decades by many folks.
since "ochs-e" (male cow) is a german word i can confirm that it is pronounced ox! no matter the heritage of the person itself... the name is German and is always pronounced like this 👍
