How To DUNK A Basketball For The FIRST TIME 😱
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 жов 2020
- In today's video, Coach Steve Celi shows you the PERFECT way to get your first dunk! You'll learn exactly how high you need to be able to dunk for the first time as well as how to throw the perfect lob bounce (or have a teammate do so) in order to get your first dunk!
If you can't quite jump as high as necessary to dunk, do not worry- start on a LOWER rim, and start working your way up to higher heights until you dunk for the first time!
If you're needing to jump higher (who isn't! haha)...
Be sure to get Coach Steve's ILB Vertical Jump Injection, where you can add up to 3+ inchs of vertical in as little as 3 minutes here ⬇️

@Ilovebasketballtv Does it matter what direction my feet are pointing. I dunked for the fist time last year in March. It was off an alley, I'm still trying to dunk off the dribble. I can get past my wrist above the rim, I'm still learning how to throw a self lob

Achieved my first dunk today. 36 years old, 6'3", 206, two leg single hand jam. I dropped 11 lbs, did weighted vest jump ropes, box jumps, and learned to better handle the ball.
Steve's tips on two footed jumps and focusing on explosion helped as well. I plan on losing 6 more lbs and increasing vertical by an additional 3 inches over the next 3.months.
congrats!
Long story short, put in the reps and don’t skip leg day.
Before Leg Day, don't forget TECHNIQUE DAY haha
I was just about to step out to play ball
And thinking why I can get above the rim with ease, but jump lower when the ball is in my hands
And this comes up
God is listening
Let's go! Now go get a dunk!
Yessir, the Lord is always listening
Did you end up getting it?? I'm in the same spot I can easily grab the rim one handed but with the ball nothing.
Biggest fan of Steve follow every thing he says
Coach Steve is a GOAT!
Thanks my dude!!
I would just like to say thank you for everything guys. I learned how to dunk this summer, and without your tips i would never made it. Thank you🏀🧡
You're so welcome Janz! Our pleasure!
5'7", 36" vertical, and I can touch rim. I'm grinding to get my first dunk by the end of 2020 🔥
Godd vert man! Keep working Micah! Your time is near!
If im 5'8 and I can touch rim is my vert 35'11?
@@PracticalProblems Not necessarily. What really matters is your standing reach. Stand flat footed (with the shoes on that you'd be dunking/jumping in), reach up your arm as high as you can, and measure the distance from the ground to the tip of your middle finger. My reach is right at 7 feet, and since I can touch a 10 foot rim, my vert is 3 feet, which is 36".
Micah Brown if your vertical is 36 inches you can dunk so it’s probably a lil lower unless you have T. rex arms
Im 6.1 with boots cant touch rim need like 1 inch :(
this channel helped me a lot. got my first i game dunk in a high school sophomore game.🤟🏿

Do you have any tips for one foot dunkers?
I watch all your videos and I would do anything to have a coach that’s gone push me to be my best, and not just at coach that just work at my school I’m 16 and I think I can really go pro if I could get help from you
Hey ilovebasketball could you make a video on how to land after dunking so we don't injure ourselves, cause I can touch rim but when I land I sometimes have pain in my knees. And I know that there is a way to reduce that pain with the way I land. So that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Land with balls of your feet first then your heels, then squat low. If you land stiff legged or pretty close to stiff legged it's hard on your knees and joints.
Yeah for sure, MOST players don't have to worry about landing because they don't jump high enough (to be honest) so that's why we don't cover landing "too much"- as it's not a concern for most players.
Saying that, Huntness gave some good advice, you want to "give" into the landing, land on the balls of your feet, and minimize tension on your joints by tightening your core and leg muscles after impact and "giving" with momentum, if that makes sense.
@@ILB love your content btw!!
Also sink into your hips do not let your knees infront of your toes
Just asking should i first try to dunk with a tennis ball
Im can barely touch the backboard. Should i do squats and abs core workout
I love
Thank u sir
Satkrit Pandey you’re welcome!
@@ILB im not even able to touch the rim trying all your video lessons out. I even tried rakoozytv but to no avail. Please help! Its kinda embarassing when u are 6 foot 1 when u are 13years old but still cant even touch the board 😭😭😭

Hey! Great and glad you're here. I'd recommend getting into weight training with a personal trainer/sports trainer in your area! Building strength and speed is definitely your next step. Height is definitely something that you can't do too much for beyond eat right/sleep well.
ILoveBasketballTV Apreciate the tips! Keeping the dunking dreams alive⚡️🏀
@K'Don Burnette Not true
I'm 14, and my height is 5,5 is it possible too dunk?
Hey ! Your voice is just Wooowww!!! So sweeeettt !!! 😍😍😘😘🤗

Wait wait wait how tall is coach Steve
We all know Celi can dunk. BUT, can he actually play basketball.
Yes I've seen him play on some of his vids
I think that's mutually exclusive as well! He can play for sure- but he teaches vertical jump/dunking. I promise you the BEST vertical jump trainers may not be the best basketball players (high jump coaches and strength trainers in my opinion) and some of the best basketball trainers may not be able to throw down crazy dunks!
Our goal at ILB is to bring the best training for each skill set we can provide. I just want to make sure our viewers know we want to bring elite training for EACH skill set, vs a jack of all trades, master of none approach! Hope that makes sense!
Thanks for the comment!
@@ILB Thanks for saying that, I was just curious.
I'll be working on it!! my goal is to dunk in games so i need some hoop skills!
@@BeTheEnergySteve Nice, be sure to get some posters for me okay.
I'm 5'11 man but I can't dunk? I will do and follow what you said tomorrow
What about single leg
I thought u gonna dunk in this video Lol😂
5'9
Let's go!
im 14, 5'9 with around a 30inch vert and i can touch like 2/3 inches above rim but i feel like im not too close to dunking (and i am terrible at throwing lobs) and i havent worked my legs at all so with a few months of gym ima try and get up to around a 35+ inch vert
Ini Alao you got this! Let’s go!
How to get as much power possible in a shot
I don’t know if it’s me but when I try to dunk my feet hurt and the way I jump is bad and I can’t control the ball while running to dunk
I can get my right wrist over the rim but I can’t grab the rim with both hands. Weird. :/
Bruh I’m 5’6 and like 2 inches away from rim😭
I keep getting my stuff blocked by the rim
I can dunk because of you thanks. But the funniest thing is im 5.4.
I dunk on a 2 meters rim. I am 1m85cm. :)
I’ve been asked into the basketball team at secondary school I’m 13 and I’m 5”10 never played professionally before 😬

Josh Tonini you most likely just need some approach technique work and explosiveness training in the weight room!

I want to learn to dunk by the end of 2020
I’m 6’1 170 at 13 what should I do to help my lower legs become strong
Damn to that's crazy 😳
When I was your age we used to find steep hills to hop with ankle weight and a weighted backpack
S. Patrick Lewis bet thanks for your advice

Good luck man 💪🏼
Sahib Moga damn, good stuff. Thanks homie.
Just want to remind if you shorter than 6’3 and want to be pro at basketball, practice shooting rather than dunk but if you just play for fun or impress then you could practice dunk
Kiynx i don’t disagree that shooting/handles and basketball skill set is the main attraction.
But dunking isn’t just a skill. It’s a showcase of athleticism. And just like shooting/ if you’re not a great athlete in today’s pro game- you’ll struggle.
So though you need to be an incredible shooter- you need to work on athleticism equally.
ILoveBasketballTV im not saying you shouldn’t work on athleticism, you should work on it so when you do contest layup the ball not get ripped out of your hand but have you never seen short people dunking in the nba game not that much cause it easy to block they only dunk when it open like russel when he do contest dunk to all star player mostly they would block it easily
Kiynx working on jumping ability is athleticism.
It helps with speed, strength, explosiveness.
Which shows up on offense and defense as well as practically every aspect of the game.
hello
I'm 5'3 rip the rim
That's good! Forreal!
Funny how I’m watching this but never grabbed rim my whole life
Im 5'9 can get a bit lower than mid hand, im not so crazy about hanging on the rim cuz my friend did it once, fell on his arm, got up and his fucking forearm was in a shape of an L, couldnt play sports for 6 months, scary shit
I herd that u need to lean a little then run to get the ball
am about to play basketball with some friends and i bet 5 dollars that i can dunk (ive never dunked before or even really played basketball tbh lol wish me luck)😅
Im 5.9 and i can't even touch the Rim
