    1: Keep upper body and eyes upright
    2: Get a good angle when trying to touch the rim or dunk
    3: Swing both arms back at the same time

    Its crazy how right his tips are. I've watched alot of his videos on his own personal channel, and I know how hard he actually worked. I guess years of experience did help. I've seen his tips help me out a lot. I some times have huge jumps and it's usually when I do all of the things just like in the video. I've watched lots of jumping tips videos and all that, but I've Found that Steven's tips are the best. Much love keep going Steve

    • @jackdune9270

      Depends on your standing reach

    • @crazedxi2098
      @crazedxi2098 Рік тому

      Measure your standing reach, unless you have short arms, touching 9’8 at 5’9 is not even close to a 30 inch vert. My vert is slightly under 30 at 5’11 and I can almost dunk.

    • @ILB
      @ILB  3 роки тому +13

      There's many areas to improve, so I'd self-diagnose weaknesses FIRST and then focus on where you need the most improvement.
      1. Approach (no stutter steps, a consistent increase in speed, explosiveness, dorsiflexed ankles)
      2. Plant (penultimate step fast/proper control)
      3> Take Off (knee drive, arm drive, eyes on the target, staying VERTICAL during take off AND in the air (not leaning forward or backwards)

    Hey! The video is really *really* informative so thanks for that. On a side note I wanted to ask about finishing the dunk. I'm going to correct my jump technique thanks to this video (I feel comfortable with mine but who knows, there might be some hidden inches in there) but right now my most important issue is ball hitting back of the rim and flying off to orbit near ISS. What would you suggest for that? Am I taking off too close or far? Because I always feel my wrist hitting the rim right as I try to flush the ball down.

    • @ILB
      @ILB  3 роки тому

      Best advice there, is jump UP before beginning the windmill motion. Lean slightly forward can help with rotation. Most people fail to jump up and then windmill- they instead start windmilling as soon as they leave the ground, and it kills their vertical

    Hey there, I am 5’7 and can touch the backboard standing without really trying to. I can touch the rim and touch it every time when I go for a finger roll. I have been jumping with 2 feet for a long time, but recently I started jumping with 1 foot. That’s when I could start touching the rim consistently. I want to know what else I need to do to be able to dunk. ( I almost slammed it in a few days ago, from an alley. It went in but it bounced/rolled around for a bit) Do you think I can dunk or do I need to grow/ make my vert higher. (My hops are natural. Haven’t been trained).
    Replying to this would really help.
    Edit: For some reason when I jump for rebounds, I jump higher than when I actually want to. It’s like when I attempt
    To dunk I jump lower than I can

    I used to be a 1 foot jumper, but I've gained like 15-20lbs from the weight room since last year. Now I can touch rim off 2 feet but not 1.

    So I’m 6’4 but am somehow not able to dunk a ball. I can never get the right timing or anything but can get decent height. Anything in specific I should do?

    short question. If I'm coming from the right, do I have to switch the take off knee? To get the little twist to the rim

      @@lilgrapehead7640 u dont need to switch you can jump from both side like you do a layup with the same leg but you will need to be faster on the right side to get up there

      Tray Tillis im 5’10 😞 but the most important factors aside from technique and of course leg strength is core strength and flexibility. So every day you should 5-10 minutes of yoga/ stretching to really open up your hip flexor and other muscles you use to dunk. And eat clean + work your core. Hopefully I helped
