Well OK then. I finally had time to get into my slipping clutch. I needed to come back and give you a big thanks. I was the guy with the new yd 100 clutch slipping out of the box. For me the fix was to turn the collar about 2 turns and that did it. Thanks for adding so much to the community on somewhat little known subjects. You sure helped me out because ill be ready for a ride this weekend. 👍
Thanks for a very comprehensive video. And I don't usually watch shorts but I don't think they're a nuisance either. Some viewers may find them useful. If it helps your channel then just go for it.
Dude thank you so much for this. I’ve been slowly assembling my phantom 85 and upgraded nearly all external parts on the bike. Final step of installing drive chain, and I knocked out the clutch. Thinking I had destroyed my engine I almost gave up. Watching this video showed me all I did was knock out the seal and lose all spring tension. Appreciate your insights and work to edit all of these! 👍👍
I love the UA-cam shorts from you. also I was having an idle issue with my 49cc lifan motoped. I have fixed the problem and uploading a video right now of what it was
Excellent clutch tutorial. I actually watched to the end since you suggested it. Ten minutes later my clutch was working great and I was cruising down the road. Thanks
Bout to try the castle nut here as you described. I looked everywhere and finally ended up here. I'm pretty sure I said this before but just in case I didn't, you have the most informative videos here on UA-cam and I really appreciate the time taken out of your day to help the motorized bicycle community. Although I have tried it yet I'm pretty sure that's what the problem is as I've tried everything else to no avail. Thank you so much and please keep the awesome videos coming ☺️
i also had the issue with the screw. since then, I've went through and installed that screw on the plate while the plate was off the motor and ground down the threads from the inside on all my bikes. i have zeda 80s and one 100. it helped ALL of them!
I honest cannot sit down and watch a full video most of the time bc I am working around the house. So I watch it in parts as I take my breaks. I am on disability and it is time to get ready for winter here in Idaho. So I do things slower than I use to. I am wanting to build a 4 stroke over the winter so it is done by spring or a little after. So I am watching tons of videos as it is my first one and I want to do it right the first time even if it takes me longer to build it. So I look at all the videos as good or great videos. It is not how well they are made or how much I learn that makes good or great videos. Most of the videos that I have seen are from people that love to do this and they are taking their time to show other people to help them. That alone, to me, makes a good or great videos. Yes, some are better then others but for the most part they are all good. I do not understand people putting the thumbs down, judgemental idiots and negative A#%@&&. I will try to make a video building my 4 stroke motorbike over the winter as they are hard to find on UA-cam. Most videos are 2 stroke. I understand the more strokes are not always better but how you ride them. LOL. HAHAHAHA. I just hope my video turns out as good as the others I have seen. STAY SAFE and DON'T GET RUN OVER.
Thanks hover we needed this one i like the new style vids reminds me of my boy motocheez vids how he records and cuts str8 to the point never going off topic its coolThat in a perfect world bit was Phenomenal
I find these videos to be very helpful. As I have a similar issue with my motor and the pin or collar may be the issue. While going down the road l heard something snap inside the case and it died on me. Tried to restart it and it would still roll over but not catch a hold. So I put it away for the winter till I had time to tinker on it. At least I got some place to start that makes sense on what my issue mostly is with my Grubee Skyhawk.
I actually had the same thing happen to me....I bought 2 seeutek engines back in 2019 and one of them would slip when I tried to crank it and eventually it got to were it wouldn't crank at all because of slipping....I adjusted the big spring and it worked.....iv been riding in everyday for the last 7 months and it's starting to slip again I think I'm going to have to just replace the whole shaft assembly...I had to watch your video to refresh my memory lol ... thanks again for your video brother...I love the new gas bike frame you just built....I bought a phatmoto in 2020 and put a 212 predator on it and brother you talk about having some stupid power.....but I want to build another one and I been looking at the F/zero
That was a great video. Now I finally know how my clutch works. I watched it last year but referred to while working on mine this summer. Good concise information that teaches me something that really helps.
Yes this video helped me I had to split my case to clean metal shavings but that was something else..I had The same "slipping" issue my castle nut was crossed threaded ever so slightly. Hey I want to adjust my clutch arm on my motor but it won’t pop off. I removed the nut on top of the clutch bar. It still won’t come off. Is there a certain way to remove it? Because it’s hitting my frame and I want to move it out more.
It’s pressed on, you can support it underneath then hammer the nut (threaded on loosely). Kind of hard to remove bc you can break the pin that holds it in if you just pry it up. But then you can reinstall it at another angle to the shaft
Pull the arm out, slip it into a cylinder with arm at top, put nut back on a couple threads, then give it a good sharp hit with a hammer, that pops em free
What Im thinking about the pin is to drill out the collar the right size of the rod and press in the right pin from the next size drill bit... Extra long hardened drills ... Having a pin just floating is asking for problems... Great video about the clutch
I'm curious if the collar could be threaded in one of the holes. Replace the pin with a grade 5 bolt that has had the head cut off and trimmed to length. Then cut a slot in the remaining shank to use a flat tip driver and threadlock. While the pin is annoying to replace, it would be easier to replace than any of the formed parts.
Thanks for the good info. I was so nervous about doing this. Turns out the pin was seated properly. I could only see one of the threads on the shaft by the spring so I tightened it it until two are visible. I guess it was just dirty clutch pads because the only other thing I did was clean them and the basket and now my engine doesn't slip when I try to start it.
Will use all the information in this video went to ride my bike today and all the spokes in the back room were loose I guess it’s from vibrations I was so surprised when I was riding in my butt was moving side to side
I have to true the wheel every once in a while, but I have never had most/all the spoke come loose on me, that's crazy! Hope you are able to true them back up.
@@LAHover Eight speed internal hub rim sprocket mounted to desk break mouth every spoke loose in around six months of riding should be able to re-true it Jack of all trades master of none thanks for the reply keep doing what you’re doing your clutch video the other day help me out 🤙

Shouldn’t matter much, just make sure the ignition magnet isn’t too close to rubbing on the seal before assembling everything. I’d try to make the crank centered as much as possible, but seen a lot of motors come with tons of slop, where you can see the gear shifting while running bc it wasn’t even shimmed enough from the factory
I much prefer the longer detailed videos to the shorter ones also good tip is to cut slices in the pressure plate to help it bite better you can drill holes to make it lighter but the plate is more prone to cracking or warping I also used a valve spring off a old Kia as a return spring although I have not felt any difference other than the clutch is harder to pull in. Good in depth videos keep it up ✌️
If you are running an oil heavy mix this is common and will continue until you lighten up on the oil. If not, clean the mating surfaces and re tighten. Don't crank down on the plug with all your strength. If this does not help than replace the plug.
Man great video! I wish I had these when I built my first one lol. I'm so glad you said about taking out the clutch cable tightener and using the allen key to lock it in place. I've never had to do it yet but it's a huge piece of info that should be in every manual. I seen it from this one youtuber who didn't have alot of views I tried finding video again I couldn't. Anyways its a valuable tip!
late to the party here, but those short videos would be tremendously useful, even if just a 20 second video explaining a random engine part biweekly or something, or giving a small tip to a passerby, would also introduce more people to the hobby!
Hello LA Hover Bikes, I just started having clutch issues too however mine was obvious as when I opened the case oil was everywhere haha The oil seal is now damaged but I believe it wasn't seated properly and it in fact came further forwards towards the drive gear. Is there anything that normally holds them in or possibly use a nylon spacer on the shaft to stop it sliding out? Or would this cause more damage. Ordered a new seal from a bearing shop and new pads for later in the mean time but I don't want this happening again.
No, they are just pressed fit into the case. However if they where damaged during installation (which is fairly common), the oil will leak around them causing them to blow out due to the case pressure.
@@LAHover I see. It appears mine had blown out however if there is pressure in the lower case to cause this surely this would happen if it was leaking or not? is it jest best to cold press this evenly back into the case then? Or will I need to heat it up slightly?
They will blow out if damaged and/or if they are installed poorly from the factory. Grease them up before installing them, they just push right in place. All 2 stroke cases work like pumps, they hold pressure and vacuum with each revolution. But normally not enough to blow out a good seal.
I dont know if my clutch has a problem but when i got the engine i had to press the clutch for the back tyre to move. Now it moves even with the clutch on or off. Is that a problem. If so how do i fix it?
With my bike I have the pencil eraser pads and I have to make it so it squishes pads so much that it will start with the pin in other wise it slips if I adjust it properly do I need the upgraded pads or did the pin pop out
It's hard to say for sure, I feel like some times those cheap pads can be the only problem, and other times they can hide the real problem. I'm going to try making my own pads. Look forward to a video on it soon.
Hello Henry’s owner. Love your posts. I have a 80cc engine on my Rayleigh ten speed and I love it. I wanted to know if it is different from Raleigh that I’ve seen you use. It’s been a great bike for thousands of miles. Thanks
I really enjoy your channel, and have learned several valuable lessons from you. Thank you. Now, I have designed and built a motor mount system that isolates the motor from the frame with actual rubber 'bumpers'. 4 of them. They are very easy to work with, extremely effective, and I intend to market them at a reasonable price. I would truly appreciate if I could send you a set for one of your in depth and honest reviews. How can I contact you for a shipping address? You would truly like these as they eliminate almost all vibration, and are built to last.
I'm having the same issues. Brand new zeda 80. I was excited, expected some issues. But not the fact that I broke my clutch handle from squeezing the couch handle so hard. Now I have to figure out why this is so hard to do
Loved this video it really helped me out with knowledge for the future, however, I have an issue where the clutch is not turning the smaller gear correctly, what is this problem? Any idea on how to fix or where to look?? Thanks again for your knowledge 💪💪
I bought new clutch pads and it still slips so do I have to take the gear off but my gear puller is too small it won’t go over the bolts to u remove the bolt? And sometimes it grabs really hard and well and other times it just slips
I want thank you for your videos they are so helpful I have a motorcycle rides bicycle and I'm trying to put together but something out of the clutch it's not working right watching the bills trying to figure it out I appreciate it I'm from Arkansas so go hogs
Honetsly not a fan of the shorts ..love the videos but shorts are more of a annoying teaser being I love to get a notification about a new video youve posted only to be let down by what I would call a advertisements for your channel..keep the content coming👍
Thanks for the feed back! If the shorts were about quick tips, and fixes, would that be something you would enjoy? Little things that can be helpful, but might get lost in a full video for example.
Well the reason I watch is so I can better understand how to fix these engines first and foremost but also everything that goes into owning one of these and I just find it to be an intresting hobby... So when it comes to the shorts I dont think I would have a whole lot of use for those...
When I was riding all the sudden I had no clutch took off the cover and wiped the pad and plate and there was oil or greese on it. Would this happen if say someone gets the gas can stuck and spills on the engine.😅
Have you ever got a replacement clutch shaft and had issues with the keyway slots not not fully showing past the bearings like 25% of keyway slots not showing past bearings on each side. Im thinking the new clutch shaft is too short. In my situation I had a lil bit of the key under the bearing so the part of the key that locks the sprocket on was raised and I couldn’t get the sprocket on unless I filed down the key a little bit
Im having an issue where the clutch wont fully disengage when I pull the lever. I re adjusted the the clutch arm and it didn't help much. The bucking bar is good. So I loosened the flower nut and readjusted the clutch arm. That worked for about 3 days and the issue is back. I did notice when I pull the clutch, the clutch plate doesn't move outward evenly
So I have a brand new hundred cc my clutch slips with the same problems that you showed in your video have tried everything else so I'm taking out the mainspring like you suggested but on the same side opposite side of the sprocket my boat to stuck what do I do and you know the main Big Black
Hello my issue is the opposite of a missing ball bearing. For some reason after taking the clutch pressure plate off for diagnosing then putting back on, the bucking bar sticks out too far on the other side which makes the cam shaft not turn at all. Which in turn makes me unable to rotate the clutch rod, making it so I can’t engage to clutch at all. Any ideas?
My clutch problem is I set it everything works great go for a ride kill bike then go to restart and even with clutch fully engaged can barely peddle to start motor ? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Only my second build and it is doing it straight out of the box . Thank you
I have a 100cc 2 stroke motorized bicycle that had been running fine fine, only problem I'd had was the choice lever fell off and I put it back on; I tried starting my bike. My first try the motor turned over but didn't start up, my second try when I let out on the clutch it made a weird noise; when I press the clutch I can pedal the bike to start it but when I release the clutch my back tire just slides like the brakes are applied and the engine doesn't seem like it's trying to crank.
Im having too much pressure on the pads lol, i bought some custom made pads, and they are just too sticky on the metal, so much that when my bolt got a little out, it cracked the metal from the chain side, on the clutch sector, more accuratly on the long screw.
My inner shaft is not fixed when I unscrew the flower. My bike looses power after 100 meters and dies out. I hear some rattling in the motor. Can the loosen inner shaft be causing this problem? I cannot remove the nuts, I will have to buy a big socket, mine have a small diameter. Then I will be able to handle the shaft and the pin.
I doubt you actually reply to these but I got a china doll kit that didn’t free wheel properly when engaging the bar. It feels like the drive gear was under compression and clicks over quickly after hanging up for a sec every time you turn it by prying on it with a screwdriver. Hard to turn this gear even when clutch plate is removed. It may not be the clutch but it is something internal. know what else it would be. It almost seems like maybe it has a broken shaft spring? And I don’t know how to fix it because I don’t know what’s causing this action.
I have a problem going on with mine and I need help to find out what it is I use to have to hold the clutch to move the bike now the clutch still moves but it doesn’t lock the back wheel up like it’s pose to and it doesn’t start at all not even a sound and I can move it around like a regular bike with out a motor like I don’t need the clutch to move it what could that be I just got it fixed now it don’t run at all

Shorts are strange. Muh answer is yes.
Good Job 👍
the shorts are ok but if we are doing unboxing i'd prefer a longer video with less cutting. Also go to landscape.
Thanks for the feed back.
I dont know if my clutch has a problem but when i got the engine i had to press the clutch for the back tyre to move. Now it moves even with the clutch on or off. Is that a problem. If so how do i fix it?
how did you fix this
With my bike I have the pencil eraser pads and I have to make it so it squishes pads so much that it will start with the pin in other wise it slips if I adjust it properly do I need the upgraded pads or did the pin pop out
It's hard to say for sure, I feel like some times those cheap pads can be the only problem, and other times they can hide the real problem. I'm going to try making my own pads. Look forward to a video on it soon.
Ok thanks I will get new better pads and look at the screw to see if it’s too long if that doesn’t fix I will look into the pin on the inside
Hello Henry’s owner. Love your posts. I have a 80cc engine on my Rayleigh ten speed and I love it. I wanted to know if it is different from Raleigh that I’ve seen you use. It’s been a great bike for thousands of miles. Thanks
Thank you for creating this video.
Would love to see a video of a comparison in power between the phantom 85 and the hybrid cylinder
I LOVE the cup... AWESOME.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this
So nice of you
i love the shorts
I'm having the same issues. Brand new zeda 80. I was excited, expected some issues. But not the fact that I broke my clutch handle from squeezing the couch handle so hard. Now I have to figure out why this is so hard to do
I wonder if those 30$ billit “easy pull stunt clutch lever” on eBay would improve the feel of the clutch. I’m tempted to buy one
Loved this video it really helped me out with knowledge for the future, however, I have an issue where the clutch is not turning the smaller gear correctly, what is this problem? Any idea on how to fix or where to look?? Thanks again for your knowledge 💪💪
Could you be more specific? When you say the small gear is not turning correctly, I'm not sure what that would be.
I bought new clutch pads and it still slips so do I have to take the gear off but my gear puller is too small it won’t go over the bolts to u remove the bolt? And sometimes it grabs really hard and well and other times it just slips
Very helpful video awesome stuff man
I want thank you for your videos they are so helpful I have a motorcycle rides bicycle and I'm trying to put together but something out of the clutch it's not working right watching the bills trying to figure it out I appreciate it I'm from Arkansas so go hogs
The good news is, clutch problems are always simple. But they can be tricky to find.
Nice 🚴♂️💨💨💨💨some more good info 💨💨💨🤙✌👍💯
More to come!
All right we'll give it a try and let you know what happens
Sweet.
I like the shorts
Im tryna figure out how do loosend the clutch to do the free peddling
Keep them little small videos coming bro
Nice video!
@@LAHover now there's a excellent idea!! Tips,be it camera or maintance,would be a great idea for shorts👍
How do you take a clutch basket apart the actual crnter of it with the studs
Any way to fix the pin without splitting the case?
On the shorts you talk like a robot lol its cringy thats kinda why i like it 😂😂😂
lol thanks. I actually talk like that in the shorts on purpose ;)
Thank you
Love the shhorts
I have a 100cc 2 stroke motorized bicycle that had been running fine fine, only problem I'd had was the choice lever fell off and I put it back on; I tried starting my bike. My first try the motor turned over but didn't start up, my second try when I let out on the clutch it made a weird noise; when I press the clutch I can pedal the bike to start it but when I release the clutch my back tire just slides like the brakes are applied and the engine doesn't seem like it's trying to crank.
I have the clutch bearings went out with less than 200 miles on motar why you think
also it may be a good idea to check the cdi connections
Anyone know why my clutch arm won’t move to the full position and my tire is locked and the clutch wont disengage
I have a problem going on with mine and I need help to find out what it is I use to have to hold the clutch to move the bike now the clutch still moves but it doesn’t lock the back wheel up like it’s pose to and it doesn’t start at all not even a sound and I can move it around like a regular bike with out a motor like I don’t need the clutch to move it what could that be I just got it fixed now it don’t run at all
My seeutec the clutch pad is wabling I can see the bearings and it makes a high pitch noise and I can't get it to come out of the motor
