Lyrics:
There must be some way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Business men they
Drink my wine
There plowmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know what any of it's worth
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I we've been through all that, yes we have
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour is getting late
And all along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women all the women all the women came and went
Barefoot servants too
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl, la la la
Two riders, two riders approaching
The wind began to howl
The thief he take
My money take
The thief he take
My money take
Am I insane
Auf wiedersehen
Am I insane
The thief is safe
No reason to get excited
The cop at 8:19 gets me every time. Completely forgot he was at work
Its just insane how good his live shows are. He brings everything he has and leaves it on stage.

@@py_a_thon It's really too bad they named it the "Dave Matthews Band." People seem to think it's him and a bunch of guys playing instruments along for the ride. Nothing could be further from the truth
@@sre94 They are one of the tightest live bands one can see in this world. The amount of collective skill on that stage is insane, especially if/when they ever have an ensemble or string/brass section joining them.
I just realized this cover turns 20 years old tomorrow. Just wow.
Fark feelin olds. ..lol
Damn why you gotta bring that up now I feel old

When an "on duty" NYPD officer is bopping his head to the beat you know it's 🔥🎶 💯👊👏
Call me what you want, but DMB’s cover of the song is the best version I’ve heard. Jimi’s was amazing and is a seminal piece of rock history and Dylan’s has a haunting foreboding to it, but this version captures the essence of the lyrics and its build up to confrontation in a way no one else has. Between the buildup and the actual howling and the musical proficiency and then the explosion of sound, it’s the most powerful, goosebump-inducing version I’ve ever heard.
don't agree. jimi rules
Great cover (of Hendrix:-)), but Jimi was the best. Imho.
David Coats - 💯
I couldn’t have said it better. Right on, guy.
Mushrooms 🍄 🍄 🍄 might change your mind. Just keep this in mind while making your mind up which version is actually better, once your mind is expanded , it will never return to it's original shape.
Absolutely in the pocket, Dave knows when to step back and let the rest of the band shine, Stellar musicianship, excellent emotion, this is a perfect performance.
O gênio humilde deixa todos trabalhar
Best rendition of this song. But this might be the greatest song/performance of all time from anyone. I’ve never been hit by something as hard as this. Tears in my eyes watching. Every time. Absolutely amazing ❤😢
I totally agree. It is absolutely powerful. The changes in the song take you through a range of emotions. They are phenomenal in all regards. I too consider this version my absolute favorite. Wonder what Bob has to say about this legend song done in such a unique way!!??
with you 100% on that
completely 🤟
Same here, know this performance for several years, every time hearing this emotions hitting my heart and lot of tears. Love it
This version by Dave Matthews is absolutely mind blowing
The way Dave says 'Thank you' to the crowd will always get me. A titan of music legend and still humble to the core.
One South African son made good for sure! Dave Matthews forever! ⚘️⚘️⚘️
A real musician knows and respects their fans knowing regardless of their bank account without fans they would have and be nothing...a regular person disposable and worthless in the big picture of things
Stay Humble 😊
Jimmy’s is definitive. This is merely derivative. Cool though.
The drummer is probably the GOAT.
And the Bassist ❤
The Bass Solo is 🙊
@@andrewrobertson4218 Nah, the base player sucks, at least when it comes to complimenting the phenomenal play of the drummer. That's why Dave occasionally brought in guest bassists like Victor Wooter so that Carter can play with somebody on his same level from time to time.

One of those moments when the stars aligned perfectly.

That violinist absolutely murder it!
Even the law is like- Imma groove to this awesome shit.
That transition from violin to keyboard to sax was soo smooth!
Seriously , If this performance does not get you to appreciate the Dave Mathews band , nothing will . Awesome job guys , recreate and introduce the best music ever !!

Band is great. But the problem is Dave Mathews with his bullshit performance completely deprived of charm and charisma
Great Bass work especially during the violin and Hammond solos.
The first half of the song is almost all bass. I love the reversal of bass playing lead and guitar playing rhythm. Awesome.
You heard it too 🔥
I never get tired of this version...from the bass, to the sax, the electric fiddle, and the keyboards...the drummer and Dave bringing it home...what an outstanding 13 minutes of NRG!
Best bass guitar opening to a song ever.
And not just that, for me the bass groove on the solos is what makes this so magic, so underrated
@@kattakid9884going to my first show of theirs June 25!! Been a bucket list show for a long time! Hope it’s amazing!!
I cannot get my head around how good this version is.. amazing
Carter is such a mind blowingly sick drummer. One of the best in the game.
Once I heard from someone that he told that person that he never did Modern Drummer Festival (and I always asked myself why he didn't) because he didn' like (even he doesn't know how) to do solo😂 When you listen him carefully, you'll discover that his every song is complex solo on drums by it self.
Magnificent drummer.
Absolutetly, bad ass drummer, and he looks like such a cool dude. I love this version of Bob Dylans song..
this is the most awesome jamsession ever seen.
Still watch this all the time. DMB Central Park is in tops of all live show lists.
God they're all so talented. I just love them.
Dave's screams of fire still haunt me to this day
Love the bass intro ...... SWEET. Great bass player and interesting to watch. Plays beautifully.
Never gets old. Dave cooked that crowd with fiyaaaaaaahhhh!!!
This is the definition of musical perfection.
JUST SO DANG GOOD, I may be young, but I love dave matthews band so much, especially carter Beauford, my favorite drummer ever, and dave, just such a great guitarist, and that bass, oh my god he’s so good
Can’t forget Boyd on that violin

Right on! On so many levels. Bass solo up front blew me away. Dave Matthews band made this as perfect as I have ever seen.
I have always like Dave Matthews...but the bass player is PHENOMIAL !!!
YUP!!!
Stefan is pure solid talent!
They are all extremely talented, and this video shows how individually talented they are, but how they jazz together!
I've never heard of them before, but you can literally see, that they try, to bring the best out of each other and that's so awesome to watch!
These are some of the very best musicians on this planet.. hand picked and nothing compares to the talent these guys bring..
This is the best band since the Beatles. They may even be better. And I'm a huge Beatles fan.
Dave Matthews has been around a long time
Ok...some of this sounds Bot-ish...
You never heard this band?
25 yrs touring...One of the most successful touring Bands, World Wide, a Modern Day Grateful Dead???
And you never heard of this band???
Doesn't sound believable and the person who (supposedly) claiming DMB is on par with The Beatles is outta they're mind...
Come on, The Beatles changed music and Culture...I've been a DMB fan for almost 30 yrs...
The Dave Matthews Band is great, incredibly talented...seen them live but comparing them to The Beatles is a bit ridiculous...
2 different bands...
DMB is about The Tour...they kill on the Studio also...amazing stuff...
The Beatles, just studio work alone leaves no comparison....
Touring??? see how that started a phenomena...
Dave packs a house...remember also he's doing it in the 90s...
The 60s had none of the sound tech to get a Beatle show down...ever hear a Beatles Show live???
You cant....lol
Fenton wasn't born yet when they still touring when The Fab 4 were touring so saying DMB is as good or better than The Beatles us absurd...
Best album(s)
DMB:
BTCS
UTTAD
CRASH
The Beatles:
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Let It Be
I haven't counted Sgt. Pepper in There.
Lol..
Songs on those Albums changed how music was recorded...
Instruments never used in Pop Music were introduced popular music.
Sitar
Harpsichord
Hip Hop, Sampling started during this run of albums...Beatles did it 1st...
The Term World Music begins with The Beatles...
Oh yea, they were 1st to perform via Sattelite across The World...
And "just wrote" a song for it,
"All You Need Is Love"
Ok, now DMB....
Amazing Tour Band.
Great Songs of great albums but nowhere on par with The Beatles...
Dave's a Beatles fan...became a musician inspired by The Beatles music...
I rest my case.
Kinda disappointed he did a Fetterman rally...lol
Guess now he now approves of Fracking also...🤣🤣🤣
@@theman-pc2ej I do not agree that they strive to get the best out of them. They are perfectly and absolutely talented. That they are not so well known is another story

What a rare and amazing thing it is to see a band grow and hone their skills over the years. If you watch their performance from Woodstock 99 of this song, you'll clearly see the dedication and commitment they've made to their craft, and this song in particular. Amazing.

I just started a new job as a security guard today and some how me and one of my coworkers got on the topic of music and he recommended that I listen to DMB and man I’m so mad at myself for not finding out about them earlier. I love how each instrument gets there own time to shine, the energy Dave gives when he’s singing, and the overall feeling I got when I started listening to the song, truly a great bunch of musicians. Will definitely need to find out if they’re coming on tour to Detroit. Amazing.

They'll be at pine know in clarkston on June 27th. They have a new album coming out in May, so 5-6 songs that night will be from that. A few have already been played live, like madman's eyes, walk around the moon, and the ocean and the butterfly.
