Man, there are just SO MANY beautiful little gems that get stitched together to make this song brilliant. All the different instruments adding their little sparkles here and there, like the sweet sitar fill at 1:06, the two ladies on the violins, or the hollow "rat-tat-tat" drum fill at 2:33, right before that rich syrupy guitar tone kicks in for the solo. Once THE GREAT MUSICAL TREASURE that is Bob heard Jimi cover "All Along The Watchtower", Bob humbly said that Jimi probably improved on the song. Bob so liked Jimi's version that Bob has continued to perform his own song in the fashion Jimi did it because it is so fantastic, and as a musical tribute to Jimi. "All Along The Watchtower" is the best cover song ever, imho. Kudos to Bob for his writing, singing and playing genius, AND to the few who really do this AMAZING song justice. That would include JIMI #1 and Playing For Change. PLAYING FOR CHANGE are fantastic musicians. I'm guessing the much alive today Bob, and Jimi both would approve of PLAYING FOR CHANGE's cover here.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I look forward to hearing every song put out by PLAYING FOR CHANGE. So Good! When something great like the music of Playing For Change can be put together, WHY do we let politics, religion and race tear us so far apart? Embrace the music people, and love one another!
The whole series is like a epic poem to the art of editing.... To get this many performers, of this many countries, of this many musical styles... to say nothing of the individual baggage the song itself evokes from the performers... is just incredible. I take absolutely nothing away from the performers. You gotta have your act together to be asked to do this thing, after all. But it took real skill to knit all this together into such an incredible whole.
So many covers on this song, but I think Jimi would say, "This one got it right." Boy, did you ever. Album is well worth the wait - thank you to everyone who brought some fabulous music to us with this video!
Michelle Wheeler this is indeed a unique cover but up to this day nothing beats bear mccreary s version imho. Kudos to all the musicians in this video!
I hadn't heard it and just listened to it. I find it highly interesting, but I have this odd dislike for sitars.... Everyone has a "favorite version" I think. In the PFC version, I think it could be the sights, especially the Native Americans, as much as the version of what is one of our great, great songs.
Alas, I do know this fact. Jimi, however still remains my favorite recording. While I think Dylan deserves every accolade he gets for writing, he's not my favorite singer.

Very Rarely does anyone get this song right. It's way way harder as a group. Once again Proving that there is still magic in the world
That's some powerful Harmonica! And Rajhesh from Chennai on the Sitar killed it!
The sitar is fantastic, especially seeing that it can only play 4 notes !!!
Bruce Farris You seem to have confused it with a different instrument.
Not a sitar, it’s a Saraswati veena from south India.
I'm guessing the much alive today Bob, and Jimi both would approve of PLAYING FOR CHANGE's cover here.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I look forward to hearing every song put out by PLAYING FOR CHANGE. So Good! Thanks!!!!!!!!!🎸🎵✌
Jimi heard the Alan Bowns version and cut his great track Playing for change is such a cool version
Bob does a cover of a cover of his own song.
the truth is; Jimi Hendrix was the most overrated guitarist in musical history
@@rockyhenz3607 You really need to get your head out of your ass.
@@rockyhenz3607 if you think that then you know nothing about guitar
The Sioux and Warren Haynes sent chills all over!! This was beautiful!
Jimmy would LUV this....he was a man of peace....
Jimi perhaps?
@@Bigaam ha...lol! My brother in law is Jimmy!
That video gave me chills.
2:34 John Densmore of the doors.
Yes. We've already established he played for with the Doors, and that indeed is a song that he played on. He also played on ALL of there other songs.
@@jerrysmith2354 I learn so much here sometimes, I thought JD only played on 11 of their songs.
2024 getting close to ending. May Truth, Justice, Peace and Love rock this Beautiful Earth. Peace to all creatures great and small. Amen 🕉

Don't worry about all those who don't like it.
They obviously don't know a good thing when they see it and hear it.
Peace will come when the power of love is greater than the love of power Jimi Hendrix.
When something great like the music of Playing For Change can be put together, WHY do we let politics, religion and race tear us so far apart? Embrace the music people, and love one another!
Cuz we suck. How can we be a people defined by hate? I could never understand...
Good work good job.
They've done some great work. Check out the Robbie Robertson- Ringo collab on "The Weight" good stuff!
Everyone of these that I've watched just take my breath away...
Fabolous artists! Thank-you.
True... Awesome talent all around!
I wish I had seen more of that young kid--at the VERY end--playing his little 'kiddie-drum.' He sure looked cool to me!
Just discovered Playing for Change. A great organization making the best music videos EVER, for the best possible reasons.
Steven Hoekman totally agree best thing to come to music in far to long
Thank President Obama for that.
WOW! one of the richest interpretations of this masterpiece
That positively the coolest watch tower
Jimi? It’s a Dylan song.
Alas, I do know this fact. Jimi, however still remains my favorite recording. While I think Dylan deserves every accolade he gets for writing, he's not my favorite singer.
You are right Bob Dylan really would probably really like this rendition of the song. It's quite awesome.
LOVE THIS,SO MANY TALENTED MUSICIANS. ONE WORLD,ONE HUMAN RACE.😊😊😊
THANK YOU😊
Loved the native American touch !
This is awesome the native Americans rock!!
I'm from Sioux Falls
