Lyrics:
Hey, my love
I came to you with best intentions
You laid down and gave to me
Just what I'm seeking
Love, you drive me to distraction
Hey my love do you believe
That we might last a thousand years
Or more if not for this, our flesh and blood
It ties you and me right up
Tie me down
Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain
We're climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue
These things we cannot change
Hey, my love, you came to me
Like wine comes to this mouth
Grown tired of water all the time
You quench my heart
And you quench my mind
Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain
We're climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue
The things we cannot
Celebrate, you and me
Climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue
These things we cannot change
Oh, my love I came to you
With best intentions
You laid down and gave to me
Just what I'm seeking
Celebrate we will
Because life is short
But sweet for certain
We're climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue
Things we cannot change...
Things we cannot change...
The band may be named after Dave Matthews, but there is absolutely no trace of ego in which he goes about letting every single member of the group have their own individual moment to shine. Pure class in every position shining through, and complete trust that everyone is there for one purpose only, to elevate the music to a new level in any way possible. Brilliant band. The song sounds as fresh as the first time I heard it 20 years ago. I still get shivers from the intro...
Support is everything!! In some People!!😊
One band one sound 🎉
You got that right thank you for recognizing

Yes, very true ❤
I was at this concert, about 50 feet from the stage, it was incredible, a show for the ages.
Me too..I was right in front of the stage. Waited for hours, so worth it, and every time I listen to this, it takes me back to that moment. The most amazing concert ever.
I was the guy in front of you in the big cowboy hat. 🤠
@@solangesandel5667 also, it is the biggest crowd they have ever had.
Dude. Lucky you... I've owned the CD and DVD since they were released. I've seen them countless times. But not for free and not in NYC ! Congratulations
My God what is this? They are not from this planet. Bass, chords, theme, drums... One of the best performances ever! 👏👏👏
They are just so amazing😊✌❤
Go deep!!! They are insane
Lot of love to you, too buddy

Where on this planet have I been? I was introduced to this awe inspiring legendary band as a patient in an operating room two days ago. by my surgeon who is a big fan. I have chills listening to this beautiful music and will now enjoy for the rest of time. Looking at future concert dates since I missed Wilmington and Charleston.
You can't miss something you weren't looking for, if your fandom was 2 days old.
Will most likely be back in Daniel Island next year. Second year in a row they've been to Credit One. I think they like the venue
Thank you, Ryan! I love to be anywhere near Charleston. I’ll be looking for this!
Do it right. Fly out to Seattle next labor day weekend and hit all 3 nights at the Gorge. I promise you won't regret it.
Welcome to DMB land new fan !
I consider this one of the best live performances by any band ever
100% agreed. Blows me away these guys.
Have you seen this ua-cam.com/video/ulq0mh5ok00/v-deo.html ? :D
Cameron Lund wholeheartedly agree😅
Their entire set at Central Park was amazing. I love their version of All Along The Watchtower
No doubt!
I'm sure everyone who attended this show never in a million years thought they would be able to access it at the touch of a button almost 20 years later. So dope. a lot of love
They were probably aware it was going to DVD or Blu Ray, and they would only have had to press "play" on the machine to watch it as many times as possible. Much love!
I can’t fathom it was almost 20-years ago.
You're right...I did not. This was hands down the best concert I ever went to..no cell phones being held up!
@@praski149 Blu Ray wasn't a thing in 2003
@@thebeardedmaverick good point! I take it back. ;)
Best live performance I’ve seen in almost 50 years of observing some of the greatest artists on the planet.
I concur
I only wish the director paid the piano player little more respect....amazing solo was missed
@@JamesVibe it was my favorite part
You got that right 😊
This not having 10 million plus is a shock.. this is music. This moves the soul and talks to it. Dave comes through arizona most years. I’m going this year… period. I love you Dave!!
68 and still Dave and Metallica my best memories
They could cut to Carter making himself a grilled cheese in the middle of a jam and I wouldn't be surprised. That man has more talent in one hand than I have in my entire body.
Did you know Marilyn Manson & Larry king favorite sandwich is grilled cheeses! MM w/ ketchup
I KNOW RIGHT?!
Can I have ham& pepperoni? Got enough for everyone???
He would be sizzling up a side of bacon for that sandwich. You know he would !
True bc story
I feel like Stefan doesn’t get enough credit. It’s almost like he’s playing a completely different show. How he gracefully weaves in and out of songs but still keeps with this ever present rhythm chugging along like a steady locomotive. It’s incredible how well they all work together. If you show’d a picture of each member, accompanied by their isolated instrument, to someone who’s never heard them before they would probably never believe they were in the same band. Mind blowing.
Mr grip 😳
Love this comment.
The relationship between a drummer and bassist is pretty tight. They both go on their own journey at times, and yet, it still makes totally sense.
We followed them around the country for 11 concerts. Each concert was different as well. Phenomenally talented band.
Rest In Peace Gru Grux King.
I hate to use the term as it rarely ever fits, but I think Stefan is somewhat underrated. I never hear him talked about when compared to other bassists from his time. As a musician who owns a bass but can't play shit, Stefan is a master of a bassist. He syncs up with Carter like it's nothing and it's incredible to say the least. Being in a jam band means having to be able to improvise on a moment's notice, to say he's nailed that is putting it pretty lightly I think.
If carter and stefan ever decided to do some sort of side project they'd for sure kick ass
Man so there I was, just graduated high school back in May. Decided to not go to college and move to NYC. Exploring the city with my roommate who happened to be a crazy DMB fan, me not so much at the time. Then by chance, as we were walking through Central Park on a fall evening, we hear music in the background. Walking towards the music, my roommate recognizes Dave's voice. We walk further and there we were, the Central Park concert. Freaking nuts. 20 years on, I still listen to this concert and needless to say, I've been a DMB fan ever since.
@ 16:04 when Dave looks back & gives Carter that little smile. This is a legendary musician who's been playing with the guy for decades, and still get giddy about his band. That's class right there. He still appreciates these guys & being on stage performing with them after all these years.
Using my sister's account BUT she'd agree with me: When you get to see them Iive, you can feel that connection- that love- for each other, the music, even the crowd- the little looks, the "hollars" between the band, just everything... they're the most positive, happiest, "we're here together, we're fans too" - bands/shows I've ever gotten to experience. Lol, 100% sober everytime and you get high, man- off the music, the band, the fans, the vibe... haven't gotten to see them since 2018 in Charlotte NC... too long, man. sigh. **sea**
Awesome live performance. Musicianship!!
Whenever Dave looks at Carter you knkw they are about to go off or have already went off and give eachother props!
They're all just waiting for that split second when they will all know instinctively when to come back in...together. Masters everybody on that stage!
@@txdrmr Truth!
One great, gentlemanly thing DMB does is, that all other members (except drummer who’s kind stuck where he us! 🥁💜) ALL turn and face the musician who is playing a solo. I don’t remember ever seeing that done with any other band, even over my 67 years of inhaling every type of music I could find. THAT IS REAL CLASS AND RESPECT!
(I know I’ve said this before, but now that my brother has Gone Hone, Carter IS the best drummer in the world! 😘👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🕊✝️💜🌹
This song proves why DMB is one of the greatest live bands to grace this Earth.
Two great drummers: Neil Peart, focused, serious, hard at work. Carter Beaufort; blowing bubbles and about to bust out laughing. Both incredible.
His ambidextrous and his open-handed drumming styles
You forgot Bonham, but I agree
carter has to be high on something- just like the people in the audience- you could call it love, inspiration, motivation, joy!
And Danny Carey octopusing out crazy time signatures left and right......
The bass guitar sounds so good here, it almost makes me cry.
Stefan is the best! It’s all about the bass!
Me too
Was roughly 15 ft from the stage! After 72 DMB shows still hands down best concert I’ve ever been too
holy crap after 72?!
12:36-12:39 That may not look like much compared to the rest of his drumming, but that right there is pure class. Carter is easily one of the greatest drummers to ever drum.
Ik i love that moment haha
I'd go with 0:00 - 18:31
Carter is the best drummer to ever drum. Ever.
amen
Yeesss, Carter is so GREAT!!
The way Butch integrated himself into this song is a masterpiece.
Butch was such a great band member for a few years
@@briangurka8085 He added so much. Fit right into the grooves. Amazing musician.
The band's ability to add flare to these improvised solos by adding their own improvisation to the background music is master class. Carter's runs during the keyboard solo is mind blowing
For someone from NYC, I get chills EVERY TIME Dave sings 'dance all the way across the greatest city in the netherworld' and then the stage lights up and the baritone sax comes in. Perfection!
The band is tight, they allow each other to shine. Dave Mattews voice is melodic and I can't get enough of it.
Hello there shala nice meeting you here
@@maxharrison257 thanks.
21st century production quality, just years before we knew smartphones were even going to be a thing. What a great era, if only brief, to enjoy amazing live performances like this; the feeling of being one with the audience, without the weight of the world in your pocket.
Very Well Said
'98-'04 was peak DMB live!!! They were on another level during that 6 year run. So glad I got to see so many great shows!
Yessss..went to sooo many!!

Yup. I saw them in 2000, 2001, and 2004… best concerts of my life.

why does listening to this just do something to my brain where i can just focus SO HARD
Im Mexican… it’s 2024. You know why I’m watching this? My best friend is from Texas :)
this is an unbelievable vibe. the closest you can get to being electrified at a live show without being at one.
Dude we were drinking some
Brews watching this on an insane sound system at 2 am and it was fucking crazy
Carters breakdown playing during the piano solo is other worldly. Every jazz, fusion, funk lick is insanely played. This concert is truly one of the greatest live performances ever!
Weezy that's a game I told you ready to roll hot in that LA traffic pump your break lights shits about to be pumpin P watch out for Asians on rockets
Totally Agree!!!

Not one frickin cell phone. Ahh the good old days.
ahh, caught one since u mentioned it hahahah 7:00
Ok boomer.
Yep.
Shut up boomer
To the kids saying ok boomer... Try it. The best shows are the ones you watch through your eyes, not your screen. The whole point of a show is to be 100% immersed in the music... You can't do that when you're holding a phone. Nothing on Earth replicates the adrenaline rush from truly experiencing the music.
@13:50 when Dave starts growling at his music, you know shits about to get real
7:45, the piano player starts a 5 minute solo that's just.....awesome.
That was awesome
The whole band was in solo mode all the way through ... they had that synergy where they brought their A-game to the stage to impress and please each other ... It occurs to me they were not there to entertain the crowd, but to express the joy they shared in the music they played, the audience was only there to be witness to the moment.
Butch was a magical short term marriage of the band. He just knew how to accent the music without overkill. He was the purple color in the rainbow.
Yes, and the bass nothing 😣
Marcos Rogério Barros Lima Stefan kills it too!
Greatest. Drummer. Ever.
Carter Beauford is such a joy to watch in every video! He sure loves his job!!!
110+% agree. How many could keep up with that time?
I know this is off topic, but I remember coming in from work (after taking my kids , mom and friend to DMB at Retama Park/Verizon in San Antonio) & my daughter comes up to me (this is after the 3-11 shift in a nursing home) saying, "Mom! The guy! (Making a gesture of someone playing a recorder) That guy from that Dave band you like! He died! He died!" I was like...what?...what a loss...yet what a wonderful gift Mr. Moore gave to all of us, and im blessed to have witnessed his God-given talent!
Such a simple thing to turn so tragic, however the MUSIC BURNS inside of you, as it did my daughter. She didn't have to wait up to tell me this?
Live music is something I never regret spending $ on and, although not all concerts were "awesome " I must admit, I will leave this world with these wonderful experiences....thank you all like-minded DMB lovelies, and thank you Dave Matthew's Band....
jane doe Your comment brought tears to my eyes. Your daughter is amazing to recognize that. Not many understand what a loss Leroi was for the band and for all of us.
He is a good drummer the greatest not quite. That honor goes to buddy rich.
Absolutely amazing song and show,so glad that Technology enables us to enjoy it 20 years later as if we were there....and what a jamming, between 10-12 min...wow....
This song has one of my favorite lines I've ever heard in music or poetry. My love, you came to me like wine comes to the mouth grown tired of water all the time, you quench my heart, and love, you quench my mind.
Dave writes some heavy shit. Just sayin
Who all in this way do we have to finish what you started let me see your neck I'm smacking it dirty boy we don't play she likes Trump so
Simply Amazing!
Just commenting to remind you to listen to this to get your morning started off happy!!
I didnt know that was the lyric. Its wonderful
My friends and I were introduced to this band by our friend's older brother. The first time I saw them in concert he told me to look at their faces while they were playing and to remember that they were at work. He told me that was the sign of a successful person. I never forgot that lesson.
❤️🥹💪👊
Damn.. I rolled, smoked and finished two joints during this song.
Butch Taylor's Piano solo on this song is one of the Best improvised Piano solo's you will ever hear.
& Carter's ability to read his fellow musicians so well that he can literally play a piece of his Drum Kit on every single beat & melody the other guys play. It's BEYOND Outstanding. Just listen to the end of Butch's solo, the synchronization.......
It's Beautiful.
I am always impressed with Butch Taylor on every "Two Step" video I have been able to find. I even bought his kind of eye glasses ( I am 79 years old), and I may have a few drinks right now, but love his magnificant easy fluent playing style of the keyboard.
Easily my favorite version of "Two Step". One of these days I'll actually see DMB live.
Every show is different, I've gone to 16 different shows and I just can't get enough!
12 and counting for me
Saw them live at Madison Square Garden in 2000 before the towers went down. An unforgettable moment of my life!!!!
I saw him in 1992 at the Attic in Greenville NC. I was at ECU. He was and is the best live concert ever!
They are fantastic live. Especially when tim Reynolds is along for the ride. Have seen them in Memphis, new Orleans and the Woodlands TX.
When all this Covid shit is over, I want to go to a DMB concert to dance and sing this song! Que buena vibra tiene esta cancion!!
I've been saying the same thing for twenty plus years (not the CoVid shit) bu8t never got around to seeing him/them live. I make a vow today on my birthday that i will go see him/them at the next opportunity - anywhere in the NorthEast.
Bro I’ve had tickets for two years now on my bday to go and they’ve gotten rescheduled 2 times. Finally going in 2 months!! Can’t wait🥳
Ive seen dmb live 4 or 5 times.. Greatest live band ever!!-- and ive seen MANY live bands; Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones, Charlie Daniels, Allman Bros among many others..
Hands down, DMB most memorable as I stood each time so overwhelmed I froze with my chin on the floor! Lol..
Mind blowing.
Best bass solo I ever heard, I am stunned how great it is, so melodic.
Stefan is a masterful bassist. 🥰
And he can do so much with just a small box to work in considering how many instruments are being played. He doesn't step on anyone's toes, but seems to always shines through with a perfect groove. That's EXACTLY what you need from bass player.
Dave Matthew followers are like a cult - and I love being part of it!! Can't get enough of DMB!
his real fans just call him "dave"
@@Nebraskaluke yep .. thee best T-shirt i bought was on amazon and it was a black T that said ... Imo, this is one of the best live performances that they have released on Blu Ray/DVD. I love you DMB and congratulations for being an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !!!
Carter is the man!!! I mean they’re all extremely talented but as a drummer he blows my mind EVERY time I watch him play
These days were some of the best times of my life, DMB has been the soundtrack since 1996. The energy at a Dave show is like no other. ❤

I was a DMB fan years ago, then my tastes eased away into other areas. Recently have been listening to my old cds again, and then found this online. I'm gobsmacked at hearing great jazz riffs in their concert. I adore this performance, so glad the keyboardist and Carter get some solo time. Carter at times reminds me of Omar Hakim, and that is big praise. Both were exquisite. Love love love this.
I could live forever in this performance

Hello there Michelle nice meeting you here
The unmistakable sense of urgency and tension in the intro and first verse of this song somehow weaves itself into such a wonderfully melodic chorus/jam. It's just plain brilliant.
Musical geniuses not recognized by the lack of musical ears
In the late 90's they used to sing the first verse in 2/4 time, until I guess somewhere some when they discovered the magic of playing with the intro and building to that smashing break into 2 step beat.
100000 friends would gather one and all a soul decided we could rule it all if we could dance across the greatest city of the NETHERWORLD (Hades) -- so my love do you believe we could last a 1000 years, (Keren ..., Aha) (prophecy is not to be fulfilled, it's a message to warn and to share so we take care)
Carter blowing bubbles with his gum while completely killing it made me smile
The best 18 minutes of music I’ve heard in my life.
Best live piano solo of all time!
Butch Taylor just schooled everyone who’s ever wanted to play the keyboards. Butch is the only keyboard player on earth that irons his sweater. You can shave with that crease in his sleeve. Tight !!
This is the greatest band ever!!!
I could never get tired of this song. It takes me to another level. Another place
I agree! Just so amazing😊✌❤
At 16:02 when everyone comes back on point after Carter's amazing and abstract solo, the nod and look on Dave's face... he was worried! That's how good the drum solo was. True masters at their craft!!
I think Dave wasn’t sure where he was going. So the nod and smile was a, “ah, cool....well done”.
I feel like carter kinda struggled through that last section of his solo you can tell by his facial expression. Overall they killed this song!
One of the best jams ever. the addition of Butch taylor was insane cool.
Butch's solo on this is PURE SASS!!!
The Cure would say, this song sounds just like heaven :D

Answer is, you're absolutely right. They are out of this world
This reminds me of the days when frank zappa would surround himself with great musicians and get up on stage and just jam. Awesome
That lil bass intro is pretty
Just over 18 minutes of awesome music in just one song. All the videos I've watched of this concert are fantastic. Maybe I'll get to see them live when we can do that again.
When my husband and I first got married and I was turning him on to DMB, we would go on road trips and pick every other song. Mine were always live DMB, which equated to two or three of his songs.😂❤
I will be seeing DMB in Phoenix for my Birthday this year in September as a birthday gift from my partner. Best gift I have ever received
My wife got me a golden circle ticket for my 40th 7 years ago (South AFRICA) a birthday gift that keeps on giving.
The pianists intense facial expression at 7:56 is awesome! You can tell the band just poured their collective energy into this tune for the entire 18:41. A great band with even better human beings who give to charities and seemingly live good, clean wholesome lives.
Remember when they drained their busses septic tank off a bridge on to a boat full of people? Lol. #cleanandwholesome
Butch Taylor was a great addition to the band at the time. Check out Seek Up from Live Trax vol 1
DMB played such a massive role in my formative years… some may say I was a basic, being that my 2001 senior yearbook quote was “Celebrate we will, cause life is short but sweet for certain…” but I truly don’t regret it. If you were a DMB fan at that time and went to their concerts… you understand the magic of that time… all I can say is, you had to be there… 💖
but we were wrong, life is long, and not always sweet. Those DMB shows btw 98-2008 were some of the best times I'll ever have.
Carter is smokin' here. Damn!
I just listened to this for the first time in a maybe 5-6 years. Wow. This is an incredible performance. The band is just so in tune with itself. Well oiled machine. Kind of rare.
They have the best summer concerts - 3+ hr of pure music
A mus-go you won’t regret it
Summertime in Nashville outdoors with Dave is amazing.
I have been lucky enough, or maybe old enough, to see some of the greatest bands. Pink Floyd, Metallica, many of the greats, but DMB is by far the most memorable live show that I have seen!
