As a male, I Thank You for your video and your comments about this practice. As an estranged-Jew(?) whose family had our Judaism striped away from us during a pogrom a century ago, I am coming back to terms with our faith and belonging. There are many things that I am learning, and re-learning about our faith. Thank you - Shalom.
I am not Jewish, but I am so fascinated by other peoples perspectives and religions!! I love how accessible you make learning about your people and their culture!!! This was amazing and thank you for sharing a beautiful piece of your life with us!!
Yes, I am Christian, but I love the concept of spiritual and physical cleansing as well. Sounds very relaxing and rejuvenating and I definitely would use the experience to meditate on Scripture.
I am not Jewish but I love learning about Judaism. As a Christian, I feel like watching your videos, and videos of other Orthodox Jewish women on UA-cam make my faith stronger and my actions more intentional. I love new beginnings. ❤
I live in Montreal and I really appreciated this tour. We sadly don't know enough of the Jewish culture and rituals and we are neighbors. I like how you helped us understand that what may seem like an unfair obligation for women in your religion is in fact something you seem to enjoy pretty much ( I guess some mandatory relaxing time alone without the children is never a bad thing for a busy mom). So thank you for sharing this private part of Jewish woman culture with us ! You're a great ambassador of your religious culture.

It is so sad you can propagate such ignorant and quite frankly ridiculous concepts around the Mikveh! The Mikveh propagating germs 🦠 is an old folktale as blatantly ridiculous as all orthodox women have their hair shaved off!! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ You obviously know nothing about what is the Mikveh and it’s true meaning and only base yourself on more uninformed and biased sources! So sad …
@@narlywaves2371 I’m coming back to this video and I’m so sad to see this comment. I’m shocked. Have you done research on this topic? There is no “shame” involved in this.
I love new beginnings. This was a very informative video. I had basic knowledge of Mikvah, how & when it is used but found this video very well put together and interesting. Peace and love. I sense that you are from Montreal. That is my home town tho I no longer reside there.
My sister converted to Judaism and she did her mikvah. I didn't know about all the intricate details that go with it like soaking before hand and scrubbing the dead skin. She converted during the height of the pandemic so I wasn't able to make it to her celebration of conversion due to lock-downs and and limiting the number of people indoors. I'm in happy for her and the power of G-d. She was an atheist at 12 years old while I became a Christian at 13. But to see her spiritual journey from someone who was atheist to Jewish makes me happy to know she has a relationship with the Creator.
I am not Jewish, but I can see how essential taking this time for mikvah is for your spiritual and mental well-being. This quite private time would be so great to have each month in my life. You are so blessed❤.
Wow this sounds heavenly! Not only the holiness of it all but the peace and quiet and time to simply reflect and relax once a month. I kinda wish we had this in Christianity. ❤

So beautiful! Usually on those 4-5 days, on top of having crabby mood, i feel so much guilt for separating myself from my Husband and denying him of physical affection. After hearing you, i realize this is an unselfish act to ourselves which we ladies abosolutely deserve! A day to live for our own!
A few days to miss, a few days to long for, absence makes the heart grow fonder, more time to relate without a physical agenda a shoring up or strengthening of the relationship,...the way you look at things I believe affects the end result.
Unclean or not.. those femenine days are painful.. 5 days free from work or having less work, sleeping alone, having a bath like in a spa.. I wish I had this.
I am Jewish and grew up in the Conservative movement transitioning to Reform into my high school years and remain Reform now at 68. I must admit I've never done a Mikvah but found this absolutely fascinating. Just watching and listening to your video brought me a sense of peace. You could feel your spiritual connection to the entire process.
Dear Sara, thank you so much for your open and honest sharing of your life. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY as an Orthodox Muslim women living in adjacent to an Orthodox Jewish Community. It was so wonderful to have people so close to my beliefs in my surroundings, especially the women and marketplaces. I miss the YWHA, our conversions about life and so much more. I now live in the Southwest, things here are quite different our communities are disconnected even within my religion. However, you make me feel the connection ever so much. Thank you, my dear Sister. May G-d bless you and your family for many generations to come. Ahmeen.
I love new beginnings! Thank you for sharing such a personal and meaningful ritual with those of us who did not understand it completely. The way you invite us into your Orthodox Jewish life, with patience, kindness, and a gentle voice, helps me to feel included, not excluded. I wish everyone could know that our differences are not to be feared, but respected. Have a wonderful week as you minister to your family and patients!

I am Christian and love listening to you. I learn more about about the roots if my faith, learn how the readings from Torah are lived out in day to day life. There is so much beauty and symbolism. I especially love to hear your voice, it is very melodic and calming.
I love new beginnings. Thank you for explaining such an important aspect of Judaism with grace and delicacy. I love your beautiful voice. Your saying at the end "you are loved and you are enough just the way you are" is a highlight of my day.
hello my sweet Auntie: I so so appreciate how you felt i was very careful in my explanations : your comment is like a hug from G.od, thank you :) xoxoxo
As a non Jew, this explanation of the Mikveh was beautiful and very informing. What a wonderful ritual and now I really understand why it's done. Thank you
I’m a Christian so I don’t have a great understanding of so many Jewish customs, but I love this. Thank you for explaining it in such detail. As a mama of four young kiddos, I LOVE the idea of a monthly “spa day”. ❤
I thank God above I found this channel, when my days are bad I just come and watch your videos , and I am filled with God grace and love . Thank you for helping me to remember that God’s light is always around us ! 🎉 many blessings to you and your family ❤
This was so lovely! I’m not Jewish but I would love to incorporate this self-care and prayer into my life. This care of the body and soul is so moving to me, too! Thank you for sharing. I love new beginnings. ❤️
As a Catholic married to a reformed Jewish man I find your videos so educational and very inspiring. You are such a loving mom, doctor and I have learned so many positive life lessons and habits from you! I thank you so much for the positive motivation. I like that you use this opportunity as a new beginning. At first I really thought this is a view of women being dirty but you explained the status of holiness very well. I also like that you use the Mikva as almost a spa like relaxing experience.
I am a Protestant from the Philippines, but I find these beautiful practices by the Jewish faith so compelling and sacred. May you be blessed. Thank you for sharing your practice of new beginnings with us. I love new beginnings!
I love new beginnings! I grew up Lutheran with quite a large part of my extended family raised Jewish. I’ve always loved learned about the customs and traitions of other cultures and faiths. I think it’s beautiful and fascinating. And you know, I think a 30 minutes quiet time bath is something perhaps we ALL should adopt after that cranky time of the month. 😂
I’m Jewish but haven’t done this. I’m mostly secular although I go to temple sometimes. I had a friend convert and tell me about her experience. It was nice to see your video. I admire Jews who are traditional and more observant. In my thirties, I observed all Shabbats, went to shul ,and was fully observant in a Conservative shul. I was Shomer shabbos but it was hard for me to continue do it without a family. I see the joy it brings in my relatives’ families. Thank you for your videos and sharing the sweetness of another one of our life cycle traditions.
Unfortunately and shamefully, knowledge of many Torah-based mitzvot and practices were (illegally) discarded or hidden from NON-Orthodox/Torah-observant/traditional Jews, particularly with the rise of the Reform, Conservative, and Modern Orthodox movements. It's wonderful that we now have access to this information, including this lovely video, to inform those of us who don't know, but would like to learn about and take on these crucial practices! Mikveh, Challah, and lighting candles for Shabbat are the three main mitzvot specifically for women.
I love new beginnings. Sara, I am a Roman Catholic but love to learn about other religions. It helps when taking care of my patients who have different needs. Not only do I learn so much from you, but you do it in an indescribable way. Thank you for taking the time to educate and inspire me. This particular ritual must be such a beautiful experience. Many blessings to you and your beautiful family.❤
I am Catholic and I think this is beautiful and meaningful. As a Christian, this ritual is part of my heritage from the Jewish people before us. I love new beginnings.
I am also Catholic. Our faith is rooted in Judaism, it is our heritage, and you will find so many similarities because of it. Everything in Catholicism has history and meaning. My uncle married a Jewish woman and I am so grateful to learn and experience so much because of her and I also have the opportunity to explain our faith to her. I have a much better understanding of Catholicism now because of it. 💙 Many lukewarm Catholics fail to see all the symbolism and cannot explain their faith properly.
This actually sounds so nice! Almost like a spiritual spa time to yourself to relax and feel like new! Im actually amazed by the jewish way of life, thanks for sharing!
Like others, I am not Jewish but a Christian Catholic. Your explanations and visual guide were beautifully understood and moved my heart to a deeper and holy understanding of Mikveh. Thank you for sharing such a holy and intimate tradition. May God bless your work abundantly!
I am not Jewish, but I truly love and respect the beautiful traditions of your faith. This video was sweet and uplifting as a woman. The affirmations at the end was lovely. Thank you.
I love new beginnings…. This was an awesome video! As a Christian, I’ve always loved the Jewish rituals and festivals and I’ve wanted to see the mikvah process for as long as I can remember 😊 Thank you so much for sharing this with us❤️❤️💕💕
It's really good. Ive grown up aware of the Hasdim and the variety of compliance with Judaic law, but the Mikvah is never talked about, since men mostly do the talking. I had the impression that it was more like a Japanese Bath, thank you for teaching me that Hebraic women do this ritual as a solo.
I love new beginnings! Would you maybe make a video about all the Jewish rituals surrounding a woman's period/menstrual cycle? The guys might want to skip that video but I think some women, especially non-Jewish women, would be interested!
I've always wondered what women with irregular periods would do? Particularly spotting? Some women can't constantly be on birth control so how do they adapt to these lovely rituals/requirements :)
I love how so many of the things most of us take for granted are blessed with spiritual meaning and holiness in Judaism. You seem to have such a beautiful life that continually honors G_d.
My husband has a Jewish background and we have learned so much about his heritage together. I’m Catholic but have so much love and respect for our Jewish brothers and sisters. I’m glad I can learn more from you here!

I am a Christian and enjoy learning new Jewish traditions. This seems very special and immersed with Love and holiness. Thank you for sharing God bless you
Thank you. The Mikveh is not new idea its from biblical times. Those days women went to rivers and the sea as my grandmother did in her home land. They did not have modern facilities like this. Thanks again and god bless you.
I'm a "new" Jew .. I just discovered this while researching my family tree. I grew up as a Christian, but I have always felt drawn to Judaism. I am learning so much from watching your channel ☺️
Same here. I have always been drawn to Jewish traditions. My father's family came from Prussia and all the records were destroyed. But it looks like a lot of people with his surname were Jews. My sister also thinks that we have Jewish ancestors, even though we came to this conclusion differently. We now keep the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat) and are learning how to eat kosher.
Glad to see I'm not the only raised Christian that feels that Judaism is more fitting. I grew up with several Jewish friends and even to this day feel that Jewish people are more friendly than Christians. I know everyone's experiences are different, just how I see it.
Thank you for sharing with all of us something so special and intimate. I am Catholic. I truly enjoy watching your videos. You are so open to sharing your world with us you explain everything is such great detail. I love it. I have learned so much of your religion I think it’s beautiful. You are a true inspiration. I have been a wanderer through faith for all my life. I was raised Catholic, but left that faith decades ago, and haven't found a home that fits me yet. Thank you for helping me learn about your world! It is very new to me.
You will never be homeless, for God has you in their hands❤️ you are loved from above, and from here, along your fellow humans hun. Never forget your soul is valued, no matter where you choose to land❤️
I love new beginnings. Stories such as the history and use of the Mikveh, make me feel closer to my family. While I don’t believe my story is unique, I was never exposed to the traditions of Judaism, because my father wasn’t Jewish, and my mother’s family chose to deny having any ties to Judaism when they immigrated from Europe to America in the 1920’s. The story gets a bit more complicated after my mother’s people settled in the Midwest, but I grew up knowing Judaism was part of my heritage, and something I always dreamed of pursuing. My reluctance has been pressure and influence by my family to “leave the past in the past”. But also my own feelings of “imposter” syndrome. All I know is that I’ve always felt something is missing in my life, and I’ve felt this from a very young age. This is why learning about Jewish culture/traditions brings me so much joy. It helps soothe my soul.
Your story is very similar to mine. I'm currently an atheist Jew, but I don't know, something about this way of life calls to me. I'd love to be able to do a mikveh. But, I've always been single and don't see that changing.
I Love new beginnings! Really enjoyed this video....The Mikvah time for a women is such a holy and spiritual time...In South Africa If a women went to the Mikvah on a Friday night or on a night of a Chag...it's not safe for women to walk alone....so they have a special rooms for husband's to wait for their wives...what happens is the Mikvah atendent tells the husband which room to go to they have numbers on the outside...the Mikvah attendent tells the wife which room her husband is in...so after immersion...you go to where the rooms are for husband's to wait and knock on the correct door...Shavua Tov have a wonderful week ahead lots of love from Israel

Baptism by immersion; the concept of being spiritually cleansed and renewed by submerging yourself in the water (either a ceremonial pool or a natural body of water) came from the tradition of the mikveh 😊
@@MoriKitsune true. I guess I should have said I have not experienced anything similar. I was baptized as an infant, as were my children. My husband was baptized by pouring as he has a great fear of water. Sprinkling, pouring and immersion are all acceptable forms of baptism in our denomination.

Hello Sara. What a beautiful ritual!! I knew about the mikveh but I had no idea how important it is or how much thought and representations went into building one. The preparation room and tub looks like a great place to completely unwind and feel refreshed!! No, it is not just you who feels crabby at that time. It has been many years for me but my family used to threaten to lock me in a cage until it was over 😂. I know exactly what you’re saying about removing your towels and not leaving them for staff. When we would go on trips and stay in a hotel we would strip the beds and leave them on the bed and gather the towels and put them together. If we stayed in a cottage and there was a broom or vacuum, we would sweep up. I didn’t realize that the men used them too!! I don’t blame them for wanting to feel so good!! I wish we had something like that!! I also didn’t realize that oceans and lakes could be used nor rain water was used. In other words, as always, I learned soooo much from you!! Thank you so much for being there for us!! Love you much!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is so powerful 🙏🙏 the way you live with such conviction to make sure that it's not about a woman being under or below the husband but how you both have a role in the physical life but your spiritual life. So many people use difference be a source of conflict but I watch with a inspired heart to evolve my spirituality and I feel like I also have gained understand why things like water bring peace and play such a important role in our spiritual rituals. I feel like we do things out of habit and being taught that's just the way it is but getting a better understanding of why I feel so connected to my God during my traditions.✌️✌️✌️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

Baruch Hashem, I’m so happy to see you made this video! I think the mikveh is the biggest thing that my non-Jewish friends and colleagues can’t get their head around. They insist on seeing it as demeaning and misogynistic but truly, truly, I LOVE this practice as a woman. Celebrating new beginnings, sanctifying the otherwise mundane, honouring the role of a Jewish woman. Baruch Hashem, I’m so pleased to see this and grateful to you for sharing your world with everybody.
How sad they view this practice in a negative way!! I think this totally honors women and gives them a chance to be alone and refresh! As a Christian, I have to say I’m a little jealous we don’t do this!! Life is just go-go-go, we don’t take time to slow down and reflect.
As a non religious woman, but spiritual I believe the mikveh ritual and the process leading up is beautiful. I see it as a time of renewal and pampering. It is a process that I will definitely be adopting. No I can't physically go to the mikveh but it is a practice that I will bring into my life to provide moments of peace and self care. I also have my own version of shabbat, where by 8pm on a Friday I prepare food and clean etc and then I disconnect from this world of internet, always doing and creating to just being. I think there are many Jewish practices that would benefit most people physically, spiritually and mentally.
Aww thank you so so much Lyra! Best comment of the day! I want to try to help deconstruct and bring down the misunderstandings and misrepresentations of our way of life! G.od willing at my microscopic level I can help get the conversation started❤️❤️❤️
This has always fascinated me, despite being completely non-religious. I feel like we could all mentally and emotionally benefit from that time to just relax and focus on ourselves every month and renew :) thanks for sharing
The point is not to look in to ourselves, but to give ourselves to God. That is the difference between the secular, and the religious life. Our life is outward, praise and thanks to our Creator God, putting ourselves in right order with Him.

It is so sad you can propagate such ignorant and quite frankly ridiculous concepts around the Mikveh! The Mikveh propagating germs 🦠 is an old folktale as blatantly ridiculous as all orthodox women have their hair shaved off!! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

Thank you Carolyn: what a beautiful story❤️❤️
I am not Jewish, but I can see how essential taking this time for mikvah is for your spiritual and mental well-being. This quite private time would be so great to have each month in my life. You are so blessed❤.
Wow this sounds heavenly! Not only the holiness of it all but the peace and quiet and time to simply reflect and relax once a month. I kinda wish we had this in Christianity. ❤
Same, I'm a Christian but the more I learn about Judaism the more I wish I had more beautiful traditions in my faith

So beautiful! Usually on those 4-5 days, on top of having crabby mood, i feel so much guilt for separating myself from my Husband and denying him of physical affection. After hearing you, i realize this is an unselfish act to ourselves which we ladies abosolutely deserve! A day to live for our own!
amino acids ,B complex and niacin helped e so much with mood.
Aww thank you Barbara ❤️

Sorry you're missing out on such a beautiful inheritance you're rightfully entitled to. It's never too late to start again.
Oh, go. I wasn't raised Orthodox, but have gone as an adult before the high holy days. You will LOVE it. It's truly unlike anything else. ❤

Many lukewarm Catholics fail to see all the symbolism and cannot explain their faith properly.

My friend Christina is Jewish. She was very surprised when she learned that. I hope you have a happy path to destiny.
Baruch Hashem, me too! My mother told me when I had my girl and I'm already in Israel so now I understand and appreciate why she was so different 🥲

Baruch Hashem, I’m so happy to see you made this video! I think the mikveh is the biggest thing that my non-Jewish friends and colleagues can’t get their head around.
I truly love new beginnings. I always tear up a bit at the end when you say "your are loved and you are enough". Thank you for reminding me of this. ♥
I am happy you love to hear because I love reminding it to you 💕💕❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this intimate glimpse into your Jewish life. Here in south Florida, USA, we have a large Jewish population, and it's nice to have this opportunity to get to know a little about my Jewish neighbors, near and far. Blessings to you and your family.
I floss before brushing. To me it feels better than doing it afterwards. And I'm glad to hear that it's recommended to do it this way.
I love new beginnings. I am not Jewish but I find this tradition very beautiful and empowering of women. Thank you for making this video.
Thank you for sharing this video. How beautiful and beautifully explained. I did not know this at all. Very informative. May you have a blessed day.

Aww thank you Bambi❤️❤️❤️
I love new beginnings. As an unorthodox Jew (Reform), I do want to learn about the deeper parts of my religion, even though I don't practice them myself. Thank you for teaching.
I am so happy you are here to learn more about our religion ! If you have more questions you can reach me at hellofrumitup@yahoo.com
I love new beginnings. Thank you Sara for sharing this beautiful and spiritual ritual. It sounds like every woman needs to have some time in the Mikveh. The way you describe it feels so soothing and therapeutic ❤️
Thank you for your kind words and I grew with you: it’s a much needed time for ourselves ❤️❤️
What a beautiful explanation of an ancient ritual, still practiced with its original purpose and intent. I am not Jewish, but interested in religion and especially how women practice within the religion.
I am Torah student and I love your videos ❤
I am so happy you like them!
Am not a Jew . But I loved the way you explain a religious ritual, making it quite meaningful for all faithful ladies. Would be looking for more of such kind
