Check out the strongest possible build in Elden Ring as well (you will completely destroy any boss in the game): ua-cam.com/video/LfUc5m7Weys/v-deo.html Like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video! Also, a rectification: You can still duplicate your remembrance even if you used it. I thought if you didn't have it in your inventory anymore, you can't duplicate it which is why I always made sure to duplicate it first but no need for that! So the tip essentially becomes: be aware that you can get both items from your remembrance and that there are limited number of walking mausoleums in the world.
@@fidgetwidget9116 you can make 1 from zero, can't make 2 more if you have 2 already. that's not really duplicating then, right? Duplicating would mean you'd need one in your inventory in order to get more.
Edit: this is wrong If you haven't used a remembrance, but it is in storage, you can't duplicate it though. I'm currently in one of those "dogs" and it's giving me no options to duplicate one
@@Spencer-wc6ew i've seen mausoleums that would only let me dupe certain remembrances... Ancestor Spirit & Astel for instance, but not Radahn. Could be this too
In regards to Remembrances and duplicating them with Mausoleums, you can actually exchange a Remembrance for an item/spell and still get the other one later. Mausoleums allow you to duplicate and Remembrance that you have OBTAINED, not just the ones you currently possess, so don't worry about needing to hold on to Remembrances until you find a Mausoleum
For me, the best thing mentioned was that rolling away from enemies is almost always a bad move. I've very often found that rolling into an enemy to avoid its attacks is better. Dark Souls ai is like that! Elden is no different. Also, with giant enemies, keeping behind or close to them is key to survival.
Forward is better for most enemies usually because it puts you either at their side or behind them. Their attacks are usually ranged at the length of their blade forward so you’ll avoid whatever counter they hit you with. Then you can hit their unguarded side or behind. Of course this doesn’t account for AOE attacks/spells that require running away.
Lol was actually talking to a coworker who bought the game on my word about this. He asked me for advice and I told him, “This will sound crazy, but don’t roll away from your enemy, roll towards him.” He gave me this look like he thought I was trolling him.
If you avoid Fia because of a slight hp debuff you will miss out on a questline that gives a nice armor set, a weapon, and a lot of runes since it kinda links up with another side quest.
@@crazy8slayer Exactly! Once you kill Rannala the moon queen(The boss you respect from) Go to roundtable hold and speak to her to start the quest. You don't even need to talk to her before that point

Another tip: get the lantern in weeping pennisula which you can get early on and negates the need to switch out the torch in a cave where those damn imps sneak up on you!!
@@Obikin89 if you'd rather have a torch instead of a shield or any other weapon, thats your preference and good on you. imo I'd rather have a shield or a talisman in my offhand and not have to worry about losing light every time i have to switch in a dungeon. also torches as a weapon lost their effectiveness to me almost immediately lol
@@SinglExplosiv The point is you can deal more damage with a torch than with any early game weapon on quite a lot of monsters, especially those weak to fire or resistant to physical damage. And it's just fun to beat bosses with a torch. It's obviously not the best weapon in the game, but it's not as bad as many think. The only real drawback is you can't deal a critical strike with them... But just attacking regularly while the monster is stunned deals as much damage. So just play whatever you want. Just don't disregard the torch, because they are very solid options in many situations.
I have a tip for people who use summons: track down the Godrick Soldier Ashes, which could be found early game in a cemetery near Stormhill surrounded by Spirit Jellyfish. Not only are they surprisingly tanky, by virtue of actually knowing how to use their shields, they're also pretty competent at juggling aggro between the both of them.
To add to this, I did the math (with chat gpt so it might be off lol) and there’s enough smithing stones in the world to fully upgrade 13 regular and 8 special weapons
@@gabriellaruiz7056whether that’s wrong or right, you can also just get all the bell bearings and you can buy (I think) every single smithing stone, including sombers, to max out whatever you want.
If you used the hp regen talisman and hp regen buff from flask you'll see it a FUCK ton more lol. Seems to be similar to runescape tick eating. Knocked to 0 in the same instant I regen and live
One thing to add with Fia's debuff/Baldachin's Blessing is that for certain quests you do need to speak to Fia in order to progress them, and she will only speak to you while hugging you, so it's definitely a thing you're going to receive if you want to get at everything in the game. So really, don't feel bad if you have the simp debuff. It's only natural. Also, when it comes to atonement, there is one NPC you CAN kill and still atone for the crime of doing so: Sellen. At least if you kill her in the Witch prison ruins area. Like I did when I thought it might be how you free her from it. When you kill her she says it's useless because she can't die, and it's true - if you come back later she'll still be there. But the attack does aggro her and she'll disappear from the Waypoint Ruins as seller/NPC for quests. If you atone at the temple of Vows for your sins, she will return to Waypoint and will work again as normal. So that's another one that there's a bit more complex compared to the standard NPC aggro/death situations.
@@jimmysthoughts8571 the tarnished is only getting hugs and doing her bidding, then she goes to bear the prince of deaths child. Idk sounds like simp energy to me
If you're quick after killing a boss, you can use a gold chicken foot and equip the Gold Scarab (talisman that boosts runes more) before the boss drops the runes
Additional tip for the Remembrance's. If you want two weapons from a boss Remembrance, you can't do that in a single playthrough because when you pick an item from a remembrance, it will show 0 available if you try to claim it again. However, if you duplicate the remembrance, then save it for your new game plus. As soon as you gain access to Enia again. The 'stock' of that remembrance will be refilled. And you can a second of the weapon without having to kill the boss again (extremely useful for people wanting to dual wield Malenia's sword lol).
1. The remembrance is saved to your own mind. So even if you use them you can still duplicate it. 2. Killing merchant's drops a ball bearing that you can give to the merchant at the roundtable and have that merchants inventory
3. You can respawn killed npc's using a celestial dew at church of vows. However some important quest npc might or might not respawn (still a bit untested)
Warning about the "Just use your smithing stones, you can buy more." tip. This is true with one exception. DO NOT waste your (Somber) Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones!!! They are a finite resource in each playthrough. I believe there are only 10 Ancient Dragon Smithing stones. And there are only 7 Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing stones. So, stop at +24/+9 (normal/unique) on weapons until you decide to commit to that weapon, or make sure it's one you want to keep using.
@@Garret772 Yes, Somber stones are used to +10 weapons that cap at +10, the normal Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones are used to +25 weapons that can be enhanced to +25. The last upgrade for both types of weapons use special stones that you can only get a finite number of each play through. I think it's somewhere around 7 for the somber ancient dragon stones, and like 10-11, for the normal ancient dragon stones. Per play through.
As another note on Remembrances, you can only duplicate up to 7 total and only 5 of those can belong to “Shard Bearer” bosses. So maybe don’t immediately duplicate each Remembrance you get.
This too! Look at the wiki for which sets of weapons (some arent weaps tho) you find most attractive, then duplicate to get those! No point in accidentally locking yourself out of a weapon/spell/etc because you duped without thinking
@@burankublank2763 i dont have her rememberance i used it already for the weapon. So that means ill have to fight her again, its ng + so it shouldnt be that hard with enhanced stats :D
@@burankublank2763not true unfortunately. I believe you carry remembrances into new game plus but they’re unusable until you beat the boss again. When I saw carry I mean as a potential method to duplicate them, I’m honestly not sure if the second time you beat them just actives the remembrance or activates and gives you a second. Good idea to do that all before ng+
A tip from me. After you level up a good amount be careful when you go back to the beginning areas. When I finally met Patches and he attacked me I was mid combination when I heard him say Wait! and I killed him. So no more patches for me this game.
So it's not guaranteed but apparently npcs you kill can be revived at the church of vows as well as making any npcs you may anger non hostile. It requires a celestial dew and patches may be an exception but shop keepers can apparently be revived there.
Using the fowl feet is definitly a big difference, 30% additional runes on any boss no matter how far you are in game is huge and once you get the recipe, they are easily made if you know where to get the materials
Instead of rainbow stones you can just try an R2 attack on the ledge in question. If the fall will kill you, you will swing into an invisible wall and not fall off. If you can survive, you will follow through as normal and drop down. Also you can duplicate rememberances after you've already used them.
Jesus Christ how have I never heard about this. The fact that you can’t fall while attacking comes up all the time, even as a method to navigate the invisible bridges. But it never cross my mind to use it to test if it’s lethal in the first place. Although word of warning that doesn’t always work, some ledges are so rocky and inconsistent the game doesn’t properly register it as a potential fall. So just be careful and try not to do that in locations where the ledge is really uneven
This also doesn’t apply to elevator ledges. They’ll let you fall every time. No, I haven’t tested every elevator but I have died fucking around with a weapon near an elevator.
A very situational tip, but still a great one: Stay as close as possible to Maliketh during his second phase. It's intimidating because of the cracked out backflips he constantly does, but most of his hard hitting moves are ranged (namely the 3 air slashes), and if you get in really close a lot of his attacks go over your head.
@@DigitalPhoenix. frr this one some ppl forget yes I can pump out damage Ik the boss but when things do go wrong I only have three health flasks while the hosts normally has about triple that
That's a general thing with big bosses. Normally the bigger the boss, the save you are just hugging him constantly during fighting and the smaller, the more you should stay at max range
The jelly fish summon can also be used in the mountaintop of the giants area in the ruins on the upper west half of the area, there will be a jellyfish asking for her sister and all you need to do is summon the jellyfish and a secret door opens alloying you to get a pretty terrible talisman
The Fia debuff isn't that bad, and the Baldichin's Blessing is really helpful in some boss fights. A lot of people are making a big deal about it but she even states the risk and reward of hugging her. 10/10, would give 5% of health for poise boost again.
Biggest tip I can give: After earning your second Great Rune, BEFORE YOU ENTER THE CAPITAL, talk to Enia, the boss weapon merchant next to Two Fingers, and she should give you a talisman pouch. If you fight a certain boss (that also drops a talisman pouch upon defeat) in the capital before speaking to her, you will be locked out of this talisman pouch until NG+. I found this out the hard way. Don't suffer like I must suffer.
Why wouldn’t you talk to her? She gives you a pouch when you talk to her after you get your first great rune, so there’s a good chance that’s going to happen again
@@PatheticApathetic Why does it matter why I didn't talk to her? It's an open world game. There are a thousand things to do and talking to an NPC after I got a Rememberance for a sorcery-heavy boss on my faith character wasn't high on the list. Just because she gives you a pouch once isn't really indicative of a pattern.
I have played hundreds of hours and never noticed the "skulls" that give runes. And I'm one of those who thought the great rune worked without a rune arc. Good information. Thank you.
you can actually duplicate remembrances if you've already used the only one you have. When you go to a mausoleum the option to duplicate a remembrance you already used will be there. You can even duplicate ones you sacrificed for runes.
@@perc3136 I haven't played the game enough to know how many many mausoleums there are, so if there is a small number of them it's probably best to hold off on duping them. From what i can see, there way more remembrances than mausoleums in the game, so you do have to make those decisions. Godrick's axe isn't very good, but his dragon is really funny, so I always at least get that. It really just depends on your build.
Another tip is to use the flask. It happened to me so I doubt it happened to no one else or only a few, but the wonderous flask mix is of great help. You can either kill tree sentinels (found near the big trees around the map (not the erdtrees but the other one that is brown and green)) or find them in chests to get them. The flask is a one-time use that refill when you use a grace (rest at one or teleport at one) or die and respawn. The crystal tears used for the flasks do not dissapear, and you can use 2 tears (both different or the same if there is more than one).
For real now I’m struggling to go back to do all the bosses i missed I also think it was a mistake to not mark the bosses that I would come back to on my map
@@n00boob89 Marking flask upgrades is also a useful thing to do, so you can just check the interactive map and see what you have missed when you feel you need some upgrades.
Pro-tip regarding rainbow stones. Even though it almost goes without saying, make sure you actually LAND where the stone is. I’ve had moments where the stone landed ON THE WALL rather than the ground, and due to the angle I couldn’t tell it was on the wall until I was sailing past it. Look before you leap, fellow Tarnished.
you don't need the stones to check drops just go to the edge and attack if the drop is survivable you will go over the edge! if its not survivable you will just keep attacking
in Murkwater Catacomb in Limgrave you get Banished Knight Engval summon. he has 1240 base HP and good defensive stats so he is very tanky and you will use him for a long time.
For the remembrance you dont need to keep it you can still duplicate one if you have already used it and the duplicated can be sold for between 20000 and 70000 depending on the boss
So glad to hear about the smithing stones. I’ve farmed and explored ALOT in my play through… so I have a bunch in my inventory but I was scared to use them because I was waiting for the PERFECT weapon. Good to know I can use them without worrying, definitely gonna use them up next time I hop on.
0:37 one mistake is having your staff in your right hand instead of your left. and the sword in your left instead of right if the sword is on your right then you can use it's special move otherwise if it's on the left you can't and you can cast spells no matter which hand. The more important tip I have is knowing how to dual wield items like the staff when on horseback to use it whilst riding. then for close encounters switching back to sword and staff combo. to dualwield an item to make it 50% more powerful use triangle and L1 for dualwielding in your left and triangle R1 for the same with the right... good luck tarnished
Mostly good info, except you don’t make the weapon 50% stronger by two-handing it. What happens is you get a 50% increase to your strength stat, at 66 strength two-handing a weapon artificially makes your strength go up to 99. Meaning if you have a weapon that has S scaling with strength, two-handing it will give a lot more damage. But if you have a weapon that scales very well with Dex and only a D with strength, you won’t get much benefit from two-handing.
Kemper- then tell me how I was doing slightly more damage double handing the staff? I went from needing 4 spell casts to kill down to 3 w 2 handing the staff. Without levelling.
@@Bleax *They don't* , I tested it for myself a while ago. Neither magic nor stealth dmg increases while 2 handing (even if the stealth critical is inflicted by a STR scaling weapon, magic dmg might scale for STR scaling Faith seals but I'd have to test further). Critical hits due to stagger (when part of the enemy has that bright orange "light") do for sure scale though. As to why he might've needed less hits to kill with everything else being the same, it's simple. 1. Enemies receive more damage while they haven't detected you, no matter the source. 2. Enemies' stats seem to vary by spawn. Meaning in a group of, let's say, 10 enemies, 2 might have increase stats despite looking identical to the rest. It's not the same ones everytime either. Found this out by farming Tree Guardians near the Dragonsbarrow Fork in Caelid and using the Carian Slicer. Another fun thing this farming run led me to find? Magic is fully silent to enemies, even if hitting their friends 4 feet to the side. A physical weapon hit on the other hand will aggro them to the location of it, regardless of what it hits.
From 1st hug to last boss in the game I had Fia's curse. I'm still rapping up the trophies in the game. Never new about it nor about using the blessing to undo it. Doesn't appear to matter in the long run, but I'm definitely undoing it for NG+.
I had the curse for whole game as well. Didn't matter much overall, but perhaps it would have helped a bit on the Melania fight which was the only boss I struggled with on my playthrough.
@@Tempus0 I undid the curse last night on my end game character and none of my stuff even so much as blipped, or it just was so negligible by that point that it was pretty much non existent. I doubt it would have helped out with her at all.
@@williamlowe8734 Well, you can just explicitly calculate how much you'd gain by using Bladachin's Blessing: If X is your current HP and Y is your HP without the blessing, then X = 0.95Y, so Y = 1.053X. For example, if you 1000 HP, removing the Blessing will give you 53 HP. Every 100HP increase means you gain 5.3HP more by removing the Blessing. At 2000 HP, you'd gain back almost 110HP, which isn't much relatively but could make a difference
The rainbow stones also change colour based on the amount of damage you take from a fall. Green 🟩 = no damage Yellow 🟨 = some damage Red 🟥 = ≥50% of HP
About the smithing stones, specifically don't worry about using stones up to +12. The first two smithing bell bearings are easy to get and sells stones 1-4. The later bell bearings are locked to late game areas.
The squeleton tip was nice to learn. Always used the horned guy or the semi humans. Semi humans are more agressive when it's dark, making them good at night but also in caves and undergroung places. The horned guy is both a sniper with good damage and a fairly tanky unit at close range.
I would reccomend saving one of the 7 remerbrance duplications for the final boss. The farming sword is a must and the other option is just fun as hell to use on lower level enemies.
This is my first souls-like game. Having previously played Witcher III, it definitely helped me as to how I approached the game. Exploring the world and not just rushing into the main quest line.
The lady that gives you balduchin’s blessing doesn’t really curse you. If you pay attention to what she says (which nobody ever does), she clearly makes you an offer to buff your poise in exchange of a little health. She’s literally asking if you need a hug, at the same time asking you for your health to make her stronger.
Instead of rainbow stones, go to the edge and swing your weapon a few times. If it stops you from falling off the edge then the fall will kill you, if it doesn't then you'll fall down and be ok.
@@Skenjin It's definitely possible spells or throwables don't have the same block to stop you. It feels super sketchy to do it this way but I'm too lazy to use rainbow stones every time. After awhile you get a feel for what's going to kill you anyway.
dont go around killing NPC vendors unless you have a specific reason to (like a sweet armor set), as many of them will have a questline that you may need 20 levels down the road generally I would just recommend giving them a special marker on your map so you can quickly find them later, or buy all their spells when you first meet them
Another important tip is LEVELLING VIGOR. I can't tell you how many people I've one shot while invading because they still had their base vigor. Damage stats are important don't get me wrong but all the damage in the world is useless if you die in one touch.
@@infamousjustice7083 I'm very interested to know if you do any competitive multiplayer or invasions? Do you get matchups ok at that level? In previous games by from soft you started to have to wait a very long time for matchups if you went over level 125. This was to do with the game not wanting to match you against a much weaker player. There's a big debate in the elden ring community about what level is safe to reach without damaging your ability to do online features. I am currently at level 151 and can still get matchups fine. If you can play online no problems then likely the softcap will be a lot higher than previous games. There are some crazy people who still think the softcap should be around lvl 130!
Honestly in my opinion get your main stats to 15 and 20 then level vigor by 10 wich will give you a very good baseline into any build your doing. It's what I do with every souls gane I've played and it works great
Dont matter too much for casters, We will die real fast anyway. I see ppl going too hard on vigor, It takes away the challenge for me. I think you should die with 2hits on games like this
Yeah. Vigor is arguably the most important stat in the game for melee players. Reach the minimum STR/DEX requirements for your weapon of choice, then raise your Vigor to at least 30, preferably 40, ideally 50.
6:50 That might be because some of the games translations are really bad. The german one for exanple says that you can equip great runes to strengthen your atributes, and that using a rune-arc enhances that effect.
A tip that helped me a lot: when fighting humanoid bosses/enemies that delays attacks, dont focus on the upper body, focus on the legs. They shift their weight on the time to strike, that should give you a clear warning.
additional note on the parry: For parry-lover like myself, i recommend getting either buckler parry from the buckler shield (which i heard have more parry window than a normal parry) OR get an ash of war called "golden parry". What this ash of war does is that it WILL consume a small amount of mana(which is not much by the time you reach it), it still have the same parry frame as a normal parry; HOWEVER, the parry box will be MUCH bigger making it easier to parry, so you dont have to stand point-blank range to an enemy to be able to parry. Seriously, search up "golden parry" it will wake up your sleeping parry desire
3:15 You can get one reward right away, and get the second after duplicating it. You can duplicate them even after you've used them, it says so in the help menu that pops up the first time you try to duplicate one.
The glowing skulls are actually quite valuable. I grab all runes I come across and now at level 70ish when I have around 20k runes I can use my stored runes to get enough (around 30k) to actually level up. It's so much better doing that than dying and then having the worry about saving my runes. I often would get stuck in loops dying-saving my runes- dying again. If I level up before going into new/risky areas is so much better for me and my sanity xD
I've always used the soul items as a bank. Lol. I try to save them forever and stack up loads. If I have to use any runes to buy items or level I only use the lvl1 runes since you can pick them up literally everywhere and I usually have like 50-70 of em
I know it says that, but I was disappointed by my first mausoleum, wasn't able to do anything there. I should have been able to clone Godrick's Remembrance 🤷
so your telling me that ive been sat playing elden ring with like 4 rune arcs in my inventory while having godricks rune 'activated' in the top corner, thinking its made me more powerful so ive been winning boss fights with just my sheer luck, endurance and skill????? XD
#10 really? I have been playing for a weak and I dont know yet what the main story is. I just explore and fight stuff. Same as in skyrim, who cares about main story xD
You can also use the rainbow stones in some of the deeper caves as markers for sections you’ve already cleared or dead and tunnels or a bread trail to get back out! Kind of dumb but it does help
Yes! There's a dungeon that has two areas that look exactly the same. I knew something weird was going on, but didn't know what until I dropped a rainbow stone in the middle of a room.
2:30 when you kill a merchant NPC you get a item that you can hand in at the round table (the creepy twin ladies) Then you can buy everything that killed merchant had at the twins, also a easy way to have all shopping at 1 single place
yup, they drop a ball bearing. But whilst the first merchant is quite easy to kill, subsequent ones can get pretty tough. I learnt that the hard way, even though I didn't mean to attack them anyway (second one I accidentally hit his horse, and he didn't like that one bit 😆)
If you complete Fia’s questline you can have a special Baldachin’s blessing that doesn’t debuff you, but you have to embrace her again and do other questlines to understand what happens. Look for a guide, you get some +25 stones with questlines apart from some cool stuff like talismans, armor, weapons, ashes, game endings, etc.
People thinks the great rune effect is automatically activates upon equip because the tooltip in the game suggests so.. :/ With the first one I checked my stats so I noticed right away that the tooltip is wrong, but this is easy to miss if you don't look it up and you don't check your stats.
@@crestfallenwarrior5719 You can change the great rune based on your needs for different buffs, but you'll need to consume a rune arc which is a consumable item to activate the effect of the great rune. The runes are quite powerful so it makes sense that you will lose the effects on death and you have to consume a rune arc. I'm using the rune arcs sparingly and I have 15 atm and I could buy a few more from some vendors, but I'm saving them for some of the bosses that might cause me trouble ..for "regular" enemies you don't really need them imo, and if you use one you will have the effect until you die so if you are confident enough you can roam the Lands Between with the buff :D
@@crestfallenwarrior5719 This is my first "souls" game so I had to look up what "humanity" is in the others, but yea it's something similar. For invading other players you will have different items. The runes will give you a certain type of "buff" (for example raise your HP, flat bonus to your basic stats etc.) and you can switch them at a place that would function as a bonfire in the other games but in this one these sites are called "Sites of grace". Apparently you can farm the rune arcs that are needed to activate the effect of a Rune from rats, but the rune arc is consumed upon use and who want to spend their time killing rats when you can kill awesome bosses :D I also try to kill the bosses without a Rune first, because having the effect feels a bit like cheating because they significantly boost your power.
one that helped my was the weight límit, the Game was kind of hard for me since i couldnt Dodge some moves but after I noticed that I instantly unequipped loads of weapons and became able actually Dodge some moves
In regards to smithing stones, you eventually can turn in bells to the twin husks to be able to buy an unlimited amount of any stone, so dont worry about saving them
The best summon is the jellyfish, spawn it far from the boss so it doesn't get hit and you can make it constantly agro with it's ranged attack allowing you to power attack from behind then run far away, let it agro repeat. Although it is a bit cheesy to be honest. The other summons might to more damage, but they get killed quickly and don't agro as good.
1. Try to have an option to poison or bleed available. Look for merchants who sell poison or bleed throwing knives / arrows, looks for ashes of war with these abilities, that you can apply to weapons. These things can be a big help against bosses or large enemies. 2. Fight some powerful enemies (such as dragons and giants) while riding torrent. Chip away at their health bit by bit and use torrents speed to dodge when you need to. It can sometimes make the fight much easier. 3. Have a ranged weapon; Either a staff or bow. Very useful if you're far weaker than the foe you're taking on and want to stay at range. 4. Explore first, before you take on stronger enemies. Find weapons, armour, merchants, smithing stones, ashes of war, summons... get stronger, before you take on the nastier things. Until then, run past and dodge them on torrent. 5. Find patches ASAP and take him on. When he surrenders, spare him and come back and buy the gold pickle fowl foot crafing instructions from him, as well as Margit's shackle (if you intend to take margit on). The earlier you find patches, the better. 6. If you feel too weak, are struggling and don't mind exploiting the game a little, do some rune farming to level up. Watch vids online of the best locations to do it. I recommend the ball location for early game and the bird for la bit ater in the game.
#10 says don't focus too much on main story bosses and stop to explore more. In the next video you advise to not explore outside of your current area as you might ruin quests. I wanted to explore and level before fighting Rennala so explored Caelid. Found a big bridge and castle, explored both, in the castle found what seemed a bigger boss than Rennala (Radahn), he wrecked me every time so I left, and went and explored and finished Caria Manor. Got to Ranni's tower, heard she had a great questline, was excited to start it, but she wasn't there. Discovered that by going to the castle in Caelid I ended my chance to play her questline, cannot get any of her rewards now. This sucks. What the hell From Software. I have no problem with a hard game, but why would anyone make an open world game but then punish players badly simply for venturing out and exploring?
It doesn't have to be deliberate. If I'm correct fighting Starscourge Radahn can suspend certain quests because of the magnitude of the event that lets you fight him and what happens during it (a lot of npcs, some you've already met flock to the festival grounds). You will be able to access them again after you kill Starscourge Radahn. Good luck my friend :] you simply didn't know you were locking yourself into a boss fight
I did the same with saving Rennala for later except I decided to do all of Caelid. Funnily enough I found Dragonbarrow pretty easy. Started Caelid around lvl 40, finished on high 60's.
i know i’m late to elden ring since i just recently got into the game but i found out you can also equip the sliver scarab talisman and it increases your discovery by a lot
Another good tip for early players or new players, don’t use the smithing table at the church wait till you get to the hold cause it’ll be cheaper on cost and materials
I learned the mistake of killing NPCs the hard way when I played Sekiro for the first time.. I killed the very first merchant you come across and immediately regretted it. (Sekiro was technically my first souls game)
Also for builds who focus on dodging Quickstep is a godsend but only when used wisely i found dodging then side quicksetpping to get behind the enemy helps and gives u openings to attack
Very close to 90 hours in, have completed almost everything, got all achievements other than those for the endings. I had no idea that you could/ had to equip the great runes. read the descriptions and used a rune arc which did nothing, so I shrugged my shoulders and moved on with the game assuming that they were just a story item to be used to repair the elden ring..
I'm about 70hrs in game but not near the end. Had two great runes in my eq and the amount of rune arc I've had wasted was tremendous. Until that one moment when I sat down by the lost grace(hope that's the name of rest points in English) and read through all the possible options to choose from the list.
Thanks for these tips! Very good to learn about the smithing stones. I had been saving many, thinking it would be a waste on my early weapons, but now I kniw I can actually use them!
Feel you on #10 I was lvl 67 when I beat Godrick... bit overpowered but hey I didn't know better. 😂 I got so side tracked that main bosses were not a priority at all for me.
Quick fyi you dont have to wait to dupe you remember you can grab your reward then go dupe AND the mausoleums with bells are for the demigods (godrick radahn etc) and no bell is for others
Just realised I did the whole game from the moment I met Fia until the end credit with her debuff because I never used her item and I didn’t get what the red square under my health bar meant
Killing the merchants you don't actually miss anything by doing so, kale drops snap fingers when he dies. You can also take the items they drop to the merchant at roundtable to sell all the merchants wares. Which is very handy having all the merchants inventories in one location
You can still get the snap finger gesture if you do Blaidd's questline, Kale will give it to you once you told him you heard wolf howls at Blaidd's location when you first meet him.
I did a 2nd playthrough on my Magic character and I intended to switch things up a bit by using the Gavel and Cannon of Haima. It wasn’t until after joyously slaughtering Thops I realized I needed him to get said spells. Heavy regrets, I really wanted them.
"Focusing too much on main story bosses" Someone please tell Northernlion this. He spent 2 hours straight trying to beat Margit, horribly under-leveled and under-equipped, with no spirit summons. It was painful to watch, not to mention boring to watch.
I mean the no spirit summons could be just out of principle, I know many players, myself included don't like using them since it takes away from the feeling of triumph upon managing to beat the boss solo
@@andraenavarre3813 I get your point, but I'm not suggesting you over-level, just appropriate-level. There's a reason there's a ton of Limgrave to explore.
Suffering is part of the learning process. Like others before me said, if you over level and take the easy way, you learn nothing. And that will hit you like a brick wall if you ever get to higher NG+ cycles.
1) Rainbow stone is explained the first time you acquired one. Most people just tend to forget about it I guess. 2) You can use your remembrance and still duplicate. I could at least duplicate Godriks remembrance later into the game even though I already used it.
I actually fully revived a NPC that I killed with the celestial dew and also could clone the remembrance I already used to get a reward. I don't know if it was a glitch o a bug, it was certainly strange.
Everyone focuses on the hp debuff from hugging Fia. Is it just not known that having the item in your inventory also raises resistances? The 5% max hp loss is simply a trade off of becoming more tanky, and since everyone should be leveling vigor to 50 relatively early anyway, that 5% is barely noticeable. Add to that, you can use the item for a poise buff, then go get another one whenever you want... it's pretty useful.

Also, a rectification:
You can still duplicate your remembrance even if you used it. I thought if you didn't have it in your inventory anymore, you can't duplicate it which is why I always made sure to duplicate it first but no need for that! So the tip essentially becomes: be aware that you can get both items from your remembrance and that there are limited number of walking mausoleums in the world.

@@Ennello to duplicate means makes a another one. The quantity ranges from 2 to infinite. So he is using the word theoretically right.
@@fidgetwidget9116 you can make 1 from zero, can't make 2 more if you have 2 already. that's not really duplicating then, right? Duplicating would mean you'd need one in your inventory in order to get more.

For me, the best thing mentioned was that rolling away from enemies is almost always a bad move. I've very often found that rolling into an enemy to avoid its attacks is better. Dark Souls ai is like that! Elden is no different. Also, with giant enemies, keeping behind or close to them is key to survival.
For the giant in both games I preferred to be near their feet and roll when they try to stump me.
I'll give this a shot. I'm always getting killed
100% Agree. I was able to beat that bog gargoyle thing in front of the Beastial Sanctum rather early by rolling towards it.
Lol was actually talking to a coworker who bought the game on my word about this. He asked me for advice and I told him, “This will sound crazy, but don’t roll away from your enemy, roll towards him.” He gave me this look like he thought I was trolling him.

The light from the lantern is kind of pathetic, I'd rather have a torch or the starlight spell tbh.
I have a tip for people who use summons: track down the Godrick Soldier Ashes, which could be found early game in a cemetery near Stormhill surrounded by Spirit Jellyfish. @@gearzdesign you only get the poise buff if you use the Baldachin item she gave you, when you next rest at a grace the heath de buff will be gone.

Thank you!
1. The remembrance is saved to your own mind. So even if you use them you can still duplicate it.
2. Killing merchant's drops a ball bearing that you can give to the merchant at the roundtable and have that merchants inventory
so would it be worth killing most merchants to consolidate their inventories in one place? or is there a downside
@@ShadonicX7543 downside. A lot of them may offer quests and what not. Just drop a marker beside them to help remember where they are at.

Is (somber) ancient dragon smithing stones different from somber smithing stones?
@@Garret772 Yes, Somber stones are used to +10 weapons that cap at +10, the normal Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones are used to +25 weapons that can be enhanced to +25. The last upgrade for both types of weapons use special stones that you can only get a finite number of each play through. I think it's somewhere around 7 for the somber ancient dragon stones, and like 10-11, for the normal ancient dragon stones. Per play through.
When I start NG+, I have my sights set on dual-wielding Ordovis’ Greatswords!
(Me who uses just about every weapon I find in rotations) well sh:t, which weapons do I use the ancient stones on? 😭

A tip from me. After you level up a good amount be careful when you go back to the beginning areas. When I finally met Patches and he attacked me I was mid combination when I heard him say Wait! and I killed him. So no more patches for me this game.

Biggest tip I can give:
After earning your second Great Rune, BEFORE YOU ENTER THE CAPITAL, talk to Enia, the boss weapon merchant next to Two Fingers, and she should give you a talisman pouch. If you fight a certain boss (that also drops a talisman pouch upon defeat) in the capital before speaking to her, you will be locked out of this talisman pouch until NG+.

Another tip is to use the flask. It happened to me so I doubt it happened to no one else or only a few, but the wonderous flask mix is of great help. You can either kill tree sentinels (found near the big trees around the map (not the erdtrees but the other one that is brown and green)) or find them in chests to get them. one mistake is having your staff in your right hand instead of your left. and the sword in your left instead of right
if the sword is on your right then you can use it's special move otherwise if it's on the left you can't and you can cast spells no matter which hand.

Green 🟩 = no damage
Yellow 🟨 = some damage
Red 🟥 = ≥50% of HP
Either my luck is bad or spells do not do the same thing, have had casts send me to my death (looking at you, lightning spear).
@@Skenjin i feel you XD
@@Skenjin It's definitely possible spells or throwables don't have the same block to stop you. It feels super sketchy to do it this way but I'm too lazy to use rainbow stones every time. After awhile you get a feel for what's going to kill you anyway.
This doesn’t always work for some reason tho
I just wish we had the roll protection they have. Would be real nice to be able to dodge and not worry about rolling off a ledge to my doom.

That's also useful for torches. It allows you to use your weapon skill while having a torch out.
Get the lantern it frees up your hand for a weapon or shield
@@MR_DOME St. Trina’s torch is pretty nuts though..
dont go around killing NPC vendors unless you have a specific reason to (like a sweet armor set), as many of them will have a questline that you may need 20 levels down the road
generally I would just recommend giving them a special marker on your map so you can quickly find them later, or buy all their spells when you first meet them
Another important tip is LEVELLING VIGOR. I can't tell you how many people I've one shot while invading because they still had their base vigor. Damage stats are important don't get me wrong but all the damage in the world is useless if you die in one touch.
Yep, this was my first souls game. I didn’t start leveling vigor till about lvl 70. I am now over lvl 200 and have 100%ed the trophies

That might be because some of the games translations are really bad.
The german one for exanple says that you can equip great runes to strengthen your atributes, and that using a rune-arc enhances that effect.
ua-cam.com/video/LlUDIiki_mU/v-deo.html Defeating Mad Tongue Alberich using starting weapon
It says the same in the english translation so either the translations are wrong or it's bugged and isn't working the way they intended
A tip that helped me a lot: when fighting humanoid bosses/enemies that delays attacks, dont focus on the upper body, focus on the legs. They shift their weight on the time to strike, that should give you a clear warning.
This is one of the best guides I’ve seen. I’m level 65 and didn’t know some of this stuff. Thank you Brother
im 183 right now and things are still hard for me.
@@mikeduff2070 dude did you farm runes ? Or level up legit ?
additional note on the parry: For parry-lover like myself, i recommend getting either buckler parry from the buckler shield (which i heard have more parry window than a normal parry) OR
get an ash of war called "golden parry".
Seriously, search up "golden parry" it will wake up your sleeping parry desire
yeah golden was great for my mage, Cant make mistakes with her or I'm dead 😅
3:15 You can get one reward right away, and get the second after duplicating it. You can duplicate them even after you've used them, it says so in the help menu that pops up the first time you try to duplicate one.
Not all of them. Can't do it with Redahn or Morgott
If I level up before going into new/risky areas is so much better for me and my sanity xD
i keep them till im a few runes shy of a level or before i fight a boss so if ever i die and unable to collect my runes i wouldnt mind
I've always used the soul items as a bank. Lol. I try to save them forever and stack up loads. If I have to use any runes to buy items or level I only use the lvl1 runes since you can pick them up literally everywhere and I usually have like 50-70 of em
even if you use the rememberance you can still duplicate it in the mausoleum...you do not need to have it in your inventory.
I know it says that, but I was disappointed by my first mausoleum, wasn't able to do anything there. I should have been able to clone Godrick's Remembrance 🤷
@@madmorgo6233 Did that mausoleum have a bell? Demigod remembrances (like Godrick's) can only be duplicated at mausoleums with bells.

Its going to be a nice change i'm sure.
2:30 when you kill a merchant NPC you get a item that you can hand in at the round table (the creepy twin ladies)
Then you can buy everything that killed merchant had at the twins, also a easy way to have all shopping at 1 single place
yup, they drop a ball bearing. But whilst the first merchant is quite easy to kill, subsequent ones can get pretty tough.
I learnt that the hard way, even though I didn't mean to attack them anyway (second one I accidentally hit his horse, and he didn't like that one bit 😆)
Efficient, but in exchange of being a dick to the merchants
@@metalhead351_of idgaf they are computer data

Has anyone discovered if there's actually a downside to this? Like, do they give you quests? Does it affect quests? The ending?
If you complete Fia’s questline you can have a special Baldachin’s blessing that doesn’t debuff you, but you have to embrace her again and do other questlines to understand what happens. Look for a guide, you get some +25 stones with questlines apart from some cool stuff like talismans, armor, weapons, ashes, game endings, etc.
People thinks the great rune effect is automatically activates upon equip because the tooltip in the game suggests so.. :/ With the first one I checked my stats so I noticed right away that the tooltip is wrong, but this is easy to miss if you don't look it up and you don't check your stats.
yeah great point!
Is it a consumable or can you switch between these runes?
@@asodalis695 ahhhh something like humanity, then?

That "simp" "debuff" is a symbol of Mommy Fia's undying love. How dare you forsake it.
Great tips! Number 1 alone was worth watching the video for. Thank you!
@@ghoulishgoober3122 Yeah that's a good call. Just beat him yesterday and all those quests opened back up. Very relieved.
I did the same with saving Rennala for later except I decided to do all of Caelid. Funnily enough I found Dragonbarrow pretty easy. Started Caelid around lvl 40, finished on high 60's.
This is how role playing should work. This is what makes it the joyful adventure , every player has a super different experience.
i know i’m late to elden ring since i just recently got into the game but i found out you can also equip the sliver scarab talisman and it increases your discovery by a lot
Another good tip for early players or new players, don’t use the smithing table at the church wait till you get to the hold cause it’ll be cheaper on cost and materials
Round table?
Smithing stones are 2, 4, 6 and Somber is 1 per tier...you don't save materials. Not sure about runes.
@@jasonspitz3922 the smithing table at the church uses 6 for first level and the one at the round table uses 2

5:00 You're a saint! I've been hoarding mine since the start of the game, about to go upgrade my stuff rn
Another small tip from me: Always send the elevator back where you came from. This will safe you some time after dying.
After defeating renalla go back to round table and get the third talisman slot. if you progress too much you won't be able to get it.

Wow. Really the best tips video I've seen. Thank you!
I learned the mistake of killing NPCs the hard way when I played Sekiro for the first time.. I killed the very first merchant you come across and immediately regretted it. (Sekiro was technically my first souls game)
I usually kill all NPC's before going to ng+
It was the best souls game. Still haven't gotten all the endings
“Have you been hugging a certain someone too much?” I am guilty 😔

Quick fyi you dont have to wait to dupe you remember you can grab your reward then go dupe AND the mausoleums with bells are for the demigods (godrick radahn etc) and no bell is for others

Killing the merchants you don't actually miss anything by doing so, kale drops snap fingers when he dies. You can also take the items they drop to the merchant at roundtable to sell all the merchants wares. Which is very handy having all the merchants inventories in one location

"Focusing too much on main story bosses"
Someone please tell Northernlion this.
You actually get better like this if you over level content you will learn nothing
@@andraenavarre3813 I get your point, but I'm not suggesting you over-level, just appropriate-level. There's a reason there's a ton of Limgrave to explore.

hitting Merchant Kale: sin
killing Merchant Kale: innocent
You can duplicate without holding onto the remembrance. I used mine on dragon head. Found a tower. Duped. Then went and got the axe. No issues
Great tips, little to no spoilers. Brilliant
