Update on Discovery 5 regarding rune acquisition - Silver Skulls and Golden Eyes are definitely there during the day as well. That said, they're FAR more difficult to see during the day, so there is still a slight night advantage there

She will give it to you directly if you bring her the Chrysalid item you find in Stormveil Castle; in fact, that will cause her to move to the Hold immediately.
Damn this is all so overwhelming lol. I’m trying to not get into the habit of googling things, following guides with this game. So I’m taking a brief mental note, but I’ll probably forget and that’s probably a good thing. Gonna explore everything myself. Maybe in subsequent playthroughs I’ll target the good stuff
Don’t forget you can place your own markers on the map. So if you see something while on your way to another site just remember to put a place marker on your map so you can come back to it later
One thing to know is that after you talk to Roderika in the Roundtable Hold, if you return to the site of grace where you first find her in Stormhill, there will be a rose on the ground and a Golden Seed
One item I HIGHLY recommend getting early on is the Beast Repellent Torch, this item can be found East in Caelid at the Isolated Merchant's Shack (DRAGONBARROW) for 1500 runes, whilst held, beasts will not attack unless attacked first, this excludes some beasts such as bats/birds/crabs, red eyed beasts, or beast bosses, but is extremely useful around wolves or dogs, it doesn't even need to be lit in your hand to take effect, you can two hand your weapon or have it on your back whilst mounted and it still works.

well of course he is, From's creativity is what makes him bag and allows him to sell tenuous and dubiously trademark skirting "inspired by" merch. Gotta milk Elden Ring for all its worth because it'll be at least 5 years til the next From game.
Note: You don't need to fight a boss to unlock armor alterations. There's a thread and needle set in a chest within the Church of Vows near "Turtle Pope".
Finally, a UA-camr who is clearly showing locations of the items he's talking about on maps. It's crazy to me that so many people miss the obvious fact that it's good to show exactly where things are.
Same with wiki guides, even if they have a map it tends to be vague or so filled with other things I can't even tell what landmass it is under all the markers.
I actually love how they hide important, almost essential items for you to discover. Not only does it put a big emphasis on actually exploring the world, but it gives you actual useful rewards for doing so, things that affect how you play the game, and it’s something I’ve always felt every other open world game has struggled with (for as much as I love it, this was my biggest pet pieve with BotW).
i mean BoTW certainly did have this to some extent. for example you could go the entire game without ever touching the master sword or the shield. While i do like games that encourage exploration it can also be seen as a very big downside. if you accidentally pass over something that is easy to miss you could very well be dooming yourself to having huge disadvantages later. comes down to whether you see this as "rewarding" your players or "punishing" your players again don't mistake my words as a harsh critique of the game. if anything I love it when artists of all kinds don't treat their audiences like idiots but instead free thinkers who might be able to see the artist's vision without being spoon-fed
@@zacharyjackson1829 With BotW, I felt that while the exploration and traversal itself felt very good, it never felt very rewarding. Don’t get me wrong, the sights in and of itself is a reward for sure, but I wanted the exploration to always be rewarded with unique gameplay, which it rarely was. That could’ve been unique enemies (both regular and bosses) hidden away in certain parts of the world, and with unique weapons and items as reward that changes how you play the game. Yeah, there were some unique weapons/gear here and there, but they never really played significantly different than the regular weapons in the game. And I would’ve wanted secret, hidden away items (be it locked behind puzzles or bosses) that changed how you traversed and interacted with the world. Like, say for example some spiked boots that allowed you to climb up horizontal surfaces, or an item that allow you to climb during rain without slipping, or maybe some gear that gives you a double jump. Things that you’d be genuinely excited to find as a reward for exploring, yet can finish the game without even if you never find them. This is where Elden Ring succeeds to me. Everything I’ve found so far has felt like a genuine reward for exploring, and have had some sort of impact on how I play and experience the game. And every skill check in the form of an enemy or puzzle has rewarded me with something that made the effort of overcoming it feel worth it. To me, this is the standard I wished BotW lived up to when I first played it (and what I’ve always wanted all open world games to live up to). BotW still has the more enjoyable traversal to me, though. FromSoft platforming has its charm in how you have to carefully negotiate your character where you want them go (and again, they’ve always been good at rewarding you for successfully doing so), but BotW is just a more responsive and enjoyable experience when it comes to that. I also think it has the best and most meaningful interactability with the environment of any open world game, it’s really just the reward for doing so that left me wanting.
@@CrossfacePanda You gotta also consider that BOTW is running on a potato that is Switch. The reason game ran at all was because of these types of cuts
@@franmesic5205 No. That’s not how game dev works for something like this. We’re not talking about an inability to display x amount of objects in a scene, or a memory limit for the game with something like this. It didn’t contain stuff like that because it wasn’t part of their design goals. If any pragmatism was involved, it was a time and budget issue, not a hardware issue.
Elden Ring is actually the first game I've ever pre ordered, I literally got a job just to be able to buy the game early lol. Been playing the souls games for years now as they've been my favorite genre of games and needless to say this has been the one game I've been excited for more than any other. Your channel has always come in handy to help me better understand things I may have missed in my playthroughs and to help me expand my knowledge of the amazing lore the games are built upon. I'll be sure to stay tuned for many more of your enlightening videos, especially for Elden Ring. Much Love :)
I did the same for Sekiro due to bloodborne being my first Fromsoftware and soulslike game afterwards I just gradually played all the souls game and automatically was going to pre-order Elden ring
***LISTEN TO THE AUDIO FOR NO SPOILERS*** Best way to watch this video without spoiling visuals but still learning something is to listen to the audio only.
It's so overwhelming to watch this before actually playing the game - just thinking holy crap there's so much to do and remember. But I don't think I've ever been this excited to dive into a game before.
I can't even begin to imagine how LOOONG it's going to take to map all the lore for this game. The mostly linear souls games were already a veritable swamp of story but I'm looking forward it
I would like to add; make sure to visit the southern or eastern landmass as quickly as possible in general. There's a lot of great stuff that you can't get in the first map area. Especially Sacred Tears to upgade the healing potency of your flask, There's 3 of 'em on the southern landmass alone.
I am having an incredible time playing this game! Gotta love it when you’re SL1 just trying to get some twinblades and when you open the chest you’re teleported across the map. Good times.
yeah those chests can teleport you to some fucking crazy places. i dont want to spoil it but one of them took me somewhere i feel like i wont be seeing again for 80 hours. crazy
This shall come very much in handy for the sweaty tryhard playthrough I'll do later, but not now. For at first, I'll be playing as it was meant to be- as a tarnished of no renown. As Gael, a free Knight.
Was skeptical of getting this game since I struggled with liking soulsborne games before. 4 hours in I can hardly put it down, Fromsoft kicked it out of the park!
For those looking for ghost glovewort go to the mistwood and find a dome shaped building enter it and use the elevator you will enter an area full of it
I'm not watching this yet since I want to go into this completely blind, but I just want to say I'm so happy we'll get new lore videos now. This is also really special to me because this will be the first time I play a FromSoft game on launch day. Much love Vaati
I have to hold myself from watching to not spoil myself, but I won't be able to play Elden Ring until summer because of university + job and then the fact that I can't buy a GPU capable of running it. Gonna be a hard few months.
Let's spare a moment to remember the heroes who sadly did not live to see Elden Ring released. I dedicate my first playthrough to them. See you all out there!

This was a brilliant video for people wanting to play blind, it dosnt give away too much, just a few little hints and tips, very nice video!
Still going to have trolls that watch this, set the password and leave a ton of useless messages anyway. Hopefully it will be helpful more often than not

Tip: I found this out on accident, but you can get to the Round Table Hold without defeating Margit. Rest at the Grace before his boss fog after you die to him, in my it was three or four times.
3:12 - Man, that nighttime black knight on horse was the first enemy I came across where when I hit him I couldn't even tell a difference in lowering of his HP, like not even a tiny sliver of his life bar down when I hit him. I turned and ran from that and haven't gone back to him since.
7:07 I thought you said “spirit tuna” 😂 great guide, I am level 70+ and had no idea you could upgrade spirits like my best comrade, the Jellyfish. I’ve been missing out.
I think my favorite addition is a really simple one, the map. Its pretty indispensable in an open world game so of course it had to be in Elden Ring but its such a convenient tool that I kinda want it in previous Souls games.
The SEEKERS password has been so helpful through my playthrough. I enter a sketchy place and then I see a group message with great tips. Feels amazing to pay it forward. Haven't had this feeling since Deaths Stranding. Keep on keeping on Tarnished
No joke - the Seekers saved my ass multiple times already! Thanks for this awesome and helpful group, making the Lands Between a little bit safer to traverse
One of the biggest things to find in my opinion would be to track down the moonlight great sword THAT would be a HUGE find in this game due to it’s sheer scope of locations
@@SolidNate99 its been in every "souls" game including bloodborne, it wasn't in sekiro or code vein because they weren't souls games. Patches should also be somewhere as he returns as often as the sword. In bloodborne he was a spider.
@@TC-cr2fm another thing to keep in mind is in demons souls it was hidden and not a boss weapon and In bloodborne it was in the DLC only obtained by doing a certain action however IF I have to guess a good opportunity to find it would be one of the painting treasure hunts from the video it seems like the rewards for them are very good in particular ways so having the moonlight great sword being a reward for one of them maybe mid to late game would be my best guess

3:15 There's also a Night's Cavalry roaming boss on the road in Caelid, near the merchant and map marker on the southern road. Armed with a morning star/flail, and rather brutal :'D
I couldn’t kill Margit with any other weapons, I spent like 4 hours combined trying to kill him just cuz I only have a broadside sord and meteorite ore katana, but I used the Morning star and used a Quickstep ash of war and killed him first time😂😂
Found that one recently. I really need to scour the roads at night to see how many of these things there are. I know of 3 so far, and I'm certain there are more.
i really appreciate you giving good tips, such as where to find bosses without spoiling or showing what the bosses are. i've been selective with what ive watched because i want to experience elden ring relatively organically while still optimizing my play through with tips, but sometimes there will be spoilers on what secrets lead to what, which can make the experience less unique
I look forward to the inevitable library of lore deep-dives, insightful tips and tricks, and Prepare to Cry stories once we've all gotten our teeth into _Elden Ring._ See all y'all in the Lands Between!
Been watching Vaati sense DS and has always caught my attention with his story telling. Cant wait to see what he has in store for Elden Ring. More prepare to cry videos please :D

Also don't forget to go back to the shack that you found Roderika was in after exhausting her dialouge there. After exhausting her dialogue she gives you the jellyfish summon. And when you have access to round table hold, go back to the shack you found her in, she leaves you a little gift there. Very useful for early game.
That audible segway was as close to perfection as it gets I know it odd but I really appreciate that level of effort to integrate the add as part of the video.

you guyz can get good talisman that increase hp stamina and mind if you use stonesword key at the beginning of the game before you go out to the open world. Once you unlock it, you go down the path and you discover a bridge that have right and left hole. At the beginning of the bridge, if you look closely down the hole, you can drop down to the area. And then, if you follow the path at that area, you find a church that have the talisman but watch out for two similar enemies like the 1st boss that you encounter before you die and spawn at the 1st cave. if you dont want to fight them just drop down at the bridge at the church because the bottom will not kill you.

To be apart of this passionate community for a brand new souls game at launch, before anyone has been able to discover every secret inside this vast, massive masterpiece of a game, is truly a gift. I’m so happy to have discovered your channel.
I copy paste a thepry thwt connects all souls games: ds3 and bloodborne are narratively completely distinct games, but bloodborne is clearly a cultural evolution of the society and religions present in the souls ... which we can call a spiritual sequel (in a game where souls are the protagonist eh). the old blood and the healing blood are totally based on the blood of farron and the blood of the dark soul (because bloodborne was written on the cut content of ds1, in particular it delves into nahr alma and velka). In addition, there are low reliefs identical in the chalice doungeons to those of the lost izalith, the Pthumerians wield the dragon sword (same model of ds1), they are able to use arcane magic, pyromancy, electricity and martyr lugarius (a Pthumerian) releases a power identical to gael (thanks to the blood) ... martyr wielding a demon soul kris blade (which has a similar design to dragon swords and soulsbrandts). Furthermore, the watchdog of the old lords is clearly a sulyvhan beast of ds3 and the ash armor bone set describes a society very similar to that of ds3 (with similar religions and rituals, namely that of burning oneself and becoming beings with ashy blood). To be considered then how the elder (or giant) grhus are identical to the clearic beast thanks to the blood of farron and that laurence (the cleric beast) is a werewolf corrupted by darkness (and with ape-like movements). It is no coincidence that the nimble shadows of ds2 are werewolves with a symbol on their head (a heart representing a distorted form of the caudecus) identical to that of the gates in yahrnam and connected to the goddess nahr alma. In addition, the beast pearl, once a being a hand, has become a dark beast due to the experiments carried out by laurance and the large intake of blood, in the search for arcane powers used by the Pthumerians (in this case the power of thunder). Ah, then it is clear that in ashes of ariandel and in ringed city, miazaky has given us the last clue to close the circle ... first of all the painter of ashes of ariandel paints a dark and gentle cold place inside a painting corrupt destined to burn, but in the dlc we see rivers (literally) of blood and a culture based on blood, but in particular the cathedral of ariandel is burning like the hunters dream. in the souls every living being was once hollow, both the eternal dragons (because saturated with souls and crystallized / petrified in time), and the souls starved, being immortal, but without reason, in the eternal search for souls ... So it is entirely plausible that dark souls is a spiritual sequel based on the bad ending of demon, in which everything is submerged by the fog and the old one (being a warehouse of souls destined to swell and incorporate the whole world) becomes the foundation of the next world, born from the soul and the ashes of the previous one (i.e. the big trees are the old one). Instead elden ring was written by martin as a direct sequel to the souls, a world based on the disintegration seen in the finale of ds3, born of darkness and ashes, in which the knowledge of the power of the soul is once again preserved ... so to say that elden ring is the union of all the previous souls, it is both in terms of lore and gameplay. Finally, hunters have always been considered the last wheel of the chariot in souls, tools to satisfy the needs of the powerful by any means ... it is no coincidence that the hunters dream is established in bloodborne, creating a society in which the hunters can "truly" decide their own destiny, but in fact the will of some great beings is followed, who are not other human beings separated from the body part, able to travel on multiple planes of existence because they are made of light (this is evident with déraciné, a game linked to bloodborne by miyazaki's own admission). Elden ring follows exactly the same rules, a world born from the disegragation seen in ringed city with an evolution of the soul of dark souls (where archtrees ereditated the power of first flame)
I'm not going to watch this until I play the game a bit BUT I want you to know that it's really cool you still released this early for the people who wanted to see it. Thanks for being a cool guy!
These videos are such a wonderful balance of information whilst retaining the wonder and mystery of discovery. I've just started Elden Ring and although (because I'm two years late) I do know quite a few visual spoilers, there's still so much I don't know. I bought a physical guidebook to make the experience more classic and the discovery still authentic, but videos like these are such a great balance. Thank you!
Hey Vaati, you need to find the Chrysalid Momento and give it to Rodricka and she will say that she will head to the Round Table. Then she will give you a Golden Seed as thanks

Be extremely careful to manually save your game and exit to menu when you arent playing. I fell asleep with the game running on launch night, woke up and my PS5 has crashed and my entire save file was deleted. Several reports indicate it's some PS5 specific issue that will hopefully be patched out soon.
Go to caelid and rest at a site of grace and youll be able to go to the roundtable hold. It just has to be outside of the beginner zone and weeping penninsula.
For the round table, I got invited after defeating the Beast down in the wolf cave. I think it's triggered by killing a big enemy after a certain amount of exploration or time.
I’ve found that you can unlock round table by resting at grace points you shouldn’t be at yet. I’ve been summoned to roundtable every time before beating any major boss.
@@joshuadavis3161 Same, I was setting up for rune farming and took the portal at the third church of marika, rested at the beastial sanctum and got invited on two characters now. Haven't killed any bosses yet.

Successful people don't become that way overnight What most people see at a glance-wealth, a great career purpose is the result of hard work and hustle over time.
On a second speedrun attempt, I think what triggers the invitation to Roundtable is simply interacting with Margit (or any major bosses maybe), just seeing his cutscene.
An interesting thing I’ve seen with all massive type bosses like the flying dragon Agheel is that they all take critical damage to their head, which exploiting might also make staggering them easier.

While i do like games that encourage exploration it can also be seen as a very big downside. if you accidentally pass over something that is easy to miss you could very well be dooming yourself to having huge disadvantages later.
comes down to whether you see this as "rewarding" your players or "punishing" your players
again don't mistake my words as a harsh critique of the game. if anything I love it when artists of all kinds don't treat their audiences like idiots but instead free thinkers who might be able to see the artist's vision without being spoon-fed
I'm 40 hours in, and I haven't found the Whetstone knife, nor did I know it was even a thing. I love that I missed it.

I admit, I’m doing the same thing.
Did you read the title of the video? If you don't want the first hour of the game spoiled don't watch it and play...
Totally true
Same lol
It's so overwhelming to watch this before actually playing the game - just thinking holy crap there's so much to do and remember. But I don't think I've ever been this excited to dive into a game before.
Wait until you do play, you'll realize pretty fast that this whole video is a barely noticeable scratch on the surface
Good times.

I have to hold myself from watching to not spoil myself, but I won't be able to play Elden Ring until summer because of university + job and then the fact that I can't buy a GPU capable of running it. Gonna be a hard few months.
I played Bloodborne/Dark Souls 3/Sekiro/Demon Souls Remake on launch day. Loved bloodborne and DS3 and Demon Souls. Not so much Sekiro

One of the biggest things to find in my opinion would be to track down the moonlight great sword THAT would be a HUGE find in this game due to it’s sheer scope of locations
Is the moonlight sword in this 🌙
@@SolidNate99 It'll be a shame if not, but I'm sure it probably is. Probably a weapon made from a boss soul.
@@SolidNate99 its been in every "souls" game including bloodborne, it wasn't in sekiro or code vein because they weren't souls games. Patches should also be somewhere as he returns as often as the sword. In bloodborne he was a spider.

@@TC-cr2fm another thing to keep in mind is in demons souls it was hidden and not a boss weapon and In bloodborne it was in the DLC only obtained by doing a certain action however IF I have to guess a good opportunity to find it would be one of the painting treasure hunts from the video it seems like the rewards for them are very good in particular ways so having the moonlight great sword being a reward for one of them maybe mid to late game would be my best guess

you guyz can get good talisman that increase hp stamina and mind if you use stonesword key at the beginning of the game before you go out to the open world.

I copy paste a thepry thwt connects all souls games:
ds3 and bloodborne are narratively completely distinct games, but bloodborne is clearly a cultural evolution of the society and religions present in the souls ... which we can call a spiritual sequel (in a game where souls are the protagonist eh).
the old blood and the healing blood are totally based on the blood of farron and the blood of the dark soul (because bloodborne was written on the cut content of ds1, in particular it delves into nahr alma and velka).
The way you so confidentiality said "Elden Bling" got me 😂 Back in my day we called it "Fashion Souls" 👴🏻
