Also unmentioned in the video, you can also deliberately provoke Patches to fight again by hitting him a couple of times, but this time let him lower your health to critical at which point he will tell you to beg for forgiveness. Use the Grovel for Mercy gesture which you learnt after fighting and beating Patches the first time and you will automatically learn a new gesture "Extreme Repentance". You forgot the one quest arc that actually does yield a genuinly happy ending for multiple NPCs. After patch 1.03, you can work across Nephili Loux, Kennith Haight's and Gatekeeper Gostac's quests to basically have Nephili crowned the next queen on Limgrave. It's a surprisingly positive note that really stands out against all of the other quests that end on a down note in this game

@@tiktikboom2371 you can undo the frenzied flame, but it's a long and hard questline (you have to beat Malenia at the end). It's the questline from Milicent with the needle.
At Sellen's quest during the time Sellen is found at the Academy, Renalla isn't gone. She's just standing to the side in the same room. For those who would like to see Sellen stay there forever and not turn into a sad ball of sadness, you can choose to not do the final part of her quest by informing her of Azure & Lusat's bodies locations. And you can still respec since Renalla remains in the room. I view it as a grand collective bit of jolly cooperation. Souls games more than any other get the internet community to go on a hunt for obscure clues and secrets and tell each other about it. It's the meta game above the game imo.

Best Ending and the most beautiful. I see this in my eyes: My/Our Tarnished married Ranni the Witch and becomes the Elden Lord. Both of them lives and thats what matters.
Only for sorcerers really. My first playthrpugh I did her quest with minimal looking anything up and was really just following up with it because I was a mage and was looking for good loot.

After u saw Patches at The Shaded Castle..u can go to Murkwater Cave..open the same chest..fight him again..then he'll surrender again..n open up his shop..again..thats the last i guess..
From what I can tell, some people consider Ranni's quest and ending canon since it involves more than half of the other things you can do, like Radahn, Rennala, several optional bosses, several friendly NPC's, and at least two other NPC's quests.
It's probably the one that is the best setup for a sequel. Frenzied Flame destroys the world, and all the others have you stick around as the Elden Lord with a variation of the Golden Order. Meanwhile, Ranni's ending sees you leave the Lands Between with the establishment of a fundamentally different order.
It is also considered the only 'good' ending, since in classic Fromsoft form, we've learned that the Golden Order/Greater Will is pretty much messing up the entire world just to remain in power.
I know a lot of people have mentioned that you can skip parts of those quests (and that’s what will normally happen anyways) and still complete them but I find it more satisfying to do every single step on a quest. Doing all the steps on quest can give you more context on what’s going on and why stuff happens. For example doing all of Blaidd’s questline will give you the context on why he’s hostile at the end and make the ending feel more sad and depressing as you learn everything that led to that inevitability.
If you get Sellen the new body but not finish her quest she will stay in Rennala's spot until you finish her quest. Also Rennala is still in the library, she's just chilling behind one of the bookcases.
A small point I know but Jar-Bairn is pronounced more like "bear-n" than "beer-n" as "bairn" is a Scottish/northern English term for a child. As a Geordie, the constant mispronunciation is quite, jarring. Thanks for the vid all the same, they really did a good job with all the UK accents and localisation.
Iron Fist Alexander offers an absolute must-have reward which is Shard of Alexander among other items one of which is required for another chain quest. The Shard greatly increases all damage from your weapon skills. For reference - my mage's Moonveil Katana skill "Transient Moonlight"' got it's damage boosted from 1300 to 1500+. This was the difference in most PvP fights and in quite a large number of PvE ones where the weapon would directly one shot an opponent instead of leaving him at very low hp and giving him time to recover &/or retaliate.
You do not have to defeat the two Abductor Virgins to escape Volcano Manor, it is much easier to get to the Subterranean Inquisition Chamber Site of Grace. There is no walking over magma involved, but there are a few bats, and a hole with multiple ledges to drop down. At the grace simply rest and teleport out.
I like how with patches, at least in the first cave if you pick a fight with him after having made peace and he starts fighting back... he'll tell you to beg for forgiveness once your health gets lower, last chance... and you get an emote for that and if you do it, he'll forgive, a momentary lapse in judgment I'm sure... So ya, he'll actually forgive you unlike all other characters that would start fighting back, should you hit them. He really does have his own code, twisted as it may seem at first glance, he's still more trustworthy than most I say.
If you let him live he also sells a cookbook which contains the recipe for Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet. If you’ve already killed him you can give a bell bearing to the twins at the Round Table to get access to his wares.
So Blaidd’s quest is truly the most tragic. Seluvis becoming a puppet himself the most hilarious and Dueling IronFist Alexander so that the stronger will consume the other and become the ultimate Champion is the most cathartic and compelling.
Alexander's quest ''You don't get crazy good rewards for completing the quest'' I yelled WHAT?! The medaillon you get for finishing it is one of the strongest medaillons in the game no cap hahaha
I love how fromsoft literally made an entire character off of one line of dialogue from Bloodborne. Fishing hamlet priest: "Lay the curse of blood upon them, and their children, and their children's children, for evermore. Each wretched birth will plunge each child into a lifetime of misery." And now we have the dung eater.
If you start Seluvis' quest and give the potion to the Dung Eater you can actually get the Dung Eater as a spirit summon! Did it totally by accident lol
Problem with Rannis quest is you can miss her so many times and accidentally lock her behind the festival and since I didn’t fight Radahn till after Morgott - I leaped frogged most of the quest in terms of the side characters development. By the time i found ranni - I fast traveled to get the finger slayer and returned in less than a minute since I cleared out the city by then. By the time I found her again - I was done clearing out everything and just saw her dead randomly then ascend to wherever. I went back to Rannis rise area - blaiid finally appeared who I hadn’t seen since post Radahn fight/ only to go crazy for reasons I have no idea and that other scorerer guy was dead in his tower and I just collected his things. The blacksmith is just still making tools on the side of the road. The end.
UPDATE: For Ranni’s quest, once you see her dead by the 2 fingers and give her the ring in the moonlight altar, you can head back to Ranni’s Chamber, rest at the grace and talk to the miniature Ranni one last time. You’re welcome.
I read somewhere that if you do that then at the end when you chose her ending, Age of the Stars, instead of saying “my fair consort” she will say “my dear consort”.
@@splinteridiot I actually had no idea. I found out accidentally by just going back to previous graces and seeing if anything changed. Sort of also going down memory lane since I liked her quest. I rested at her grace and the option was there. Thank you for telling me that it actually changes how she speaks to you at the ending. I had no idea
Latenna's quest starting at the end of Lakeside Crystal Cave in Liurnia is easily missable if you progress too far because she'll just die and you won't be able to get one of the 8 somber ancient dragon smithing stones in the game
I immediately went to find her after Gideon brings her up. Her entire questline is easily missable as well. I found the church she needed to be at on a whim. I'm not sure if going further past that church locks you out of the end of the quest, but I'll be glad if it doesn't
My little head cannon as to why you need to help Millicent to undo the frenzy flame ending is because only a really rare act of good can undo a terrible act of evil. (Of course that really depends on your perspective on whether or not the frenzied flame is a good option) But it is a very interesting topic to think about from a thematic point.
I encountered Alexander completely different.. He was stuck in some tunnels and I opened it then I saw him at the Radahn festival and then like 30 hours after I killed Radahn, I went back to the battlefield and Alexander was there putting bodies in himself and said he was going to the mountains to get stronger.. Have no idea where he is now lol
did you encounter him in gael tunnel at the border between limgrave and caelid? thats where i found him and he said he was going to redmane fort or some shit for some festival as well
After you slay Blaidd, talk to the giant blacksmith on the road to Caria Manor. Earlier, when you’re exploring Nokron, the blacksmith tells you Blaidd was on another quest which is why he didn’t show up down there. But then after you slay Blaidd later, the blacksmith tells you that Blaidd had been actually been imprisoned for his own safety or for Ranni’s safety or something. Then he’ll say that he fears his time is near too. Reload the area and you’ll find the blacksmith dead on (black) fire, surrounded by dead black knife assassins, just like Blaidd was (except Blaidd had survived their assassination attempt on him by the time you find and battle him).
Patches actually meets his own end if you go back to the shaded castle after beating rykar, asks you to give an item to the beautiful dancer Tanith, which adds lore to her character as a whole, she was a dancer.. however the item does nothing for she never really cared for patches or dancing after rykar. Patches passes on his own without his maiden.
He actually survives! After he gives you the item before the fight, he returns to Murkwater Cave, where he puts back up a fog wall, resets his chest, and waits for someone to rob him again. But this time, after jumping down to fight, he’ll say “oh wait! It’s you! It’s been ages!” And he’ll stop fighting on his own, and give you another emote.
You forgot to mention to make sure you finish Seluvis quest before finishing Ranni's questline. If you don't he'll die and you'll miss out on the Scorpion Magic Tailsman
Fun fact about the warrior jars... They actually eat corpses believing they will obtain the strength of those they eat the little one is happy because he can eat a piece of Alexander to gain his he also eats diallos so yeah there's that
There are more spots you can find Alexander. His actions also provide inside into what is the purpose of the pots, and once you realize what that purpose is, you understand why you find pots in the locations you do. They have an important role in the lore of the game.
I gave Boc a larval tear thinking oh you wanna look good I gotcha homie , then seeing him as a naked human devoid of his senses at the academy made me regret my decision. Boc is fine as he is. please don't give him a tear
I gave him the Larval Tear then remembered the Prattling Plate thing and did that before he warped to Renalla. He stayed in demihuman form but I lost out on a tear (all good, I have 20 in my inventory so I'm not hurting for them)
Milicent's quest's reward "Rotten Winged Sword Insignia" is actually completely busted for some builds like my Arcane/Bleed/25 Faith Double Godskin Peeler build. It stacks with the Flask of Wondrous Physick's effect which does the same thing and when you do a jump attack which hits 4 times instantly, you can literally one-shot any single player in the game regardless of their build. It's worth to note that this talisman stacks with Milicent's Prosthesis but it's not optimal to use both since there are better talismans to place in stead of her arm. Still it's a pretty nice lore items to compensate for it. Also they gave you the option to back out of the Lord of the Frenzied Flame ending by completing Milicent's quest because if you're not playing using guides and are instead exploring on your own, the game never explicitly tells you that this ending is the only one which locks you on one path unlike all other endings. And only when you actually lock yourself on that path you then get informed by Melina after defeating the Fire Giant that you still have time to return to your previous path. If you choose to ignore her however, you solidify yourself on becoming the Lord of Frenzied Flame and keeping those sick cosmetic burns across your entire body. It looks really well with the Hero's armor set for example which reveals a lot of your skin. Looks great on both female & male body types.
The one for prosthesis was certainly something haha :) (pros-thee-sis... not pros-this-sis or whatever that was!) (and yeah, just endearing. No shade here)
16:13 I don't remember at what point but every single time i fast traveled to that area i was able to loot all plants. I was very careful not to break any fences or jars of any kind or to accidentally land on any jar when dropping down from anywhere.
The true purpose of the Millicent questline's final reward is, well helps you to get one of the hardest ending combination. The main objective of this "ending" is to burn the Erdtree without sacrificing Melina and avoid the frenzied flame ending.
the rewards for Millicent’s quest are actually super good just depends on your build and also the shard of Alexander is so much better than the pot helmet
Patches has a questline tied to the volcano manor, if you complete his contract you get a very unique whip weapon you wouldnt otherwise be able to obtain. As what you do with him after that is completely up to you
If you're talking about Hoslow's whip, you don't need to do Patches' questline for it. It's from the Volcano manor assassinations you get by talking to Tanith.
I never found Alexander outside of the festival except for when he was in the lava where he gave me the helmet so it looks like you dont need to do every step to get the later rewards.
"Ranni gives you a new possible ending.." translates to her giving you the true and best ending. Millicent also has one of the best quests honestly. She not only is tied to the best boss in the game but she gives you the item needed to reverse the most evil ending in the arena of another of the best bosses. And the rotten winged sword is so good if you use a fast combo heavy weapon.

I accidentally hit her when trying to free her from her crystal shackles, but it didn't work and instead my stupid ash summons decided that she must be an enemy and outright killed her. Fortunately, if you go to the church with the giant Turtle Pope, you can get absolution and revive her, to continue her questline. The only other NPC I killed was Gostoc, because he just. would. not. stop stomping on Godrick's head, so I couldn't get him to sell me anything, and I wanted the buckler shield since it's meant to be the best (or at least one of the best) for parrying. I tried the Turtle Pope fountain again, but it didn't give me the option to seek absolution this time, so he ded for good, I think.

Remember to talk to Ranni's doll at the tower one last time before you proceed with the main story

Funny thing about patches, you can summon him during the radahn festival and he will just immediately go back to his world
Problem with Rannis quest is you can miss her so many times and accidentally lock her behind the festival and since I didn’t fight Radahn till after Morgott - I leaped frogged most of the quest in terms of the side characters development. The end.

Alexander's talisman you get at the end is awesome. It is much better than the 1 you get for killing him early.
I found Alexander in a cave right next to the boss that drops moonveil
I remember this! That’s when he was making his way through Caelid towards red mane.

Knowing Patches, he probably lived and just slinked off to some hole yet again. The guy doesn't really do final deaths.
It's heavily believed that he's pretending to be dying.
I gave Boc the tear because I didn’t know about the other option. He ended up dying and I actually felt horrible.

Feeding pots for the elden lord.
Gold mask and corhyns quest is amazing. Finding out the secret of the statue on my own was one of the best “oh shit” moments i’ve had in gaming, ever.
He stayed in demihuman form but I lost out on a tear (all good, I have 20 in my inventory so I'm not hurting for them)
I love these extra little side quests, I hope they add more with future updates. Maybe bigger ones with DLC.
For me it’s the eyes. Love the look

The turtle popes pool let's you revive her it did for me
You can actually bring her back by going to the church of vow and do the thing at the statue.
I accidentally stumbled on rannis quest first and followed it through all the way to the void monster then had to come back because I was getting my ass kicked. Still haven't beaten game cleaning up all the quest looking around for things I haven't found. Appreciate the tips
Ive talked to patches in other spots outside as well. One I clearly remember: "When going to volcano manor when you climb up the first huge ladder hes right before that big jump from the rock edge to the other rock edge. Hes literally right behind you in a bush saying theirs something shiny close by" Have no idea Ill back track later on. I know horrible instructions but going by memory. Im sitting in church atm." Enjoy.
btw: ty for posting good info.

I know this is out of place, but I won’t ever forget fighting my first rune Bear Boss in Weeping Peninsula. That fucker must have killed me 200 times, although I was only like lv30 at the time, I haven’t ever had such a hard time with a Boss. That shit was forever burned in my head!!
You forgot to mention that completing the Millicent quest line will get you a somber ancient dragon smithing stone, which is the best quest reward you can get.
I seen Alexander in one of the mines in my playthrough. He said he got lost looking for the festival, but the strange thing is that he was past a doorframe that he couldn't of possibly fit through. Made me chuckle.
Elden Ring is easily game of the year
