Rolling towards the enemy is a great tip for beginners. And generally speaking, the bigger and more terrifying the enemy, the more you want to be right up in their face.
@@youngkim5948 me over here thinking Iframes roll through large hit boxes and wondering why this mans stupid giant axe keeps hitting me even tho I roll it perfect 😮💨
Tip 10: Don't get greedy. If you can't break the poise you have no reason to be greedy and risk being hit. You save the time and effort by taking your time instead of dying.
This is true, but also a bit of a conundrum because greed has won me quite a few victories with close calls. Definitely a gamble though, and best to avoid although SOMETIMES good to apply.
one thing that's weird for new players is that you don't have to avoid being hit, you just have to be in certain animations like dodge or backstab at the right time for them to miss
Something to add: STOP LIGHT SPAMMING/RULE OF 2's and use the right weapon. Just because there's a gap in the enemy offensive doesn't mean you should furiously mash light attack (especially for bosses) hit them twice and see what they do. Not only will you avoid a possible counter attack but you'll have the stamina to react when you wouldn't because you were light spamming. Use the right weapon: Some Bosses have very low opportunities for you to counter attack as they will furiously keep attacking and most of their "cooldown" time is non-existent. If you're using a colossal weapon, you'll have few opportunities to get hits in as larger weapons have longer start up animation. Using lighter weapons will counteract this. Also using swinging weapons in narrow areas is problematic. In those scenarios, use thrust/overhead attacks.
I mean I have to agree you are right. I find it more enjoyable as when using not only one weapon your combat gameplay varies a bit more and I have to admit that fe. first boss in Sorcerers' Academy (magic wolf) was pretty tough to hit with collosal weapon I was using so undeniably it is sometimes better to even fight with much less upgraded weapon, still being more efficient
Regarding lock-on as a caster: You can play unlocked, start casting your spell in any random direction and lock on just before you fire (exact timing varies with spell). This allows you to maximize your mobility and minimize the risk of getting caught in certain attacks. As a caster, the main danger of lock-on is that you're forced to maintain distance if you don't use blade spells and thus you often have to roll backwards a lot - which is bad because you can't see what you're doing and it triggers roll-catching attacks from the AI. This also works wonders on horseback because you can just start charging whenever you want to and lock on for a very short moment.
From a non caster pov, most people feel like they're trash and just working off of broken UA-cam builds with no skill put into it, as most are, and I normalize ganking them in my fight clubs.
It's very inconsistent and annoying. I've noticed certain spells like flame sling actually go further and will hit the target better if you don't lock on. While other spells almost require lock-on to work at all. what makes it even worse is it doesn't tell you if you're out of range.
tip for casters: have a weapon in your main hand, with staff in off hand. make sure main hand weapon has bloodhound step ash of war on it with magic, sacred, flame art, or cold infusion(depends if youre a faith based caster or a sorcerer). now you have the ultimate mobility to create distance so you can cast more comfortably, if an enemy likes getting up in your face.
@@internetspectator6051 literally run that build myself, it provides great mobility and none of the usual drawbacks of casting magic. At least not for someone who can easily two hand some claws and dice yo shit up
You missed the most important and useful tip… pick your battles. You dont need to fight every enemy, you dont need to win every fight. If you are struggling with an enemy, come back later when you have better gear and stats. Also, if you go into an area and its taking a lot longer to kill an enemy then you are in the wrong place and should go elsewhere and explore. For example after stormveil castle you should be going west rather than east.
I'm having trouble in Stormveil even though I have a +3 Uchi Haha (try not saying that from now on!).. which leads me to believe that the only reasonable conclusion is that I am just really not cut out for games like this. I really wish my ADHD and anxiety would stop excluding me from games. :(
@@Tcrror Don't worry about it! +3 is not that high to be exploring Stormveil, I think my weapon may have been +6 by then, and even so some of it gave me trouble... Go and explore Limgrave & The Weeping Peninsula - there's a lot to find there, and by the time you come back to Stormveil you and your weapon should both be higher level. :) Interesting you say about anxiety - when I played Dark Souls, I used to get that going into new areas, or getting to a new boss. I found everything intimidating and stressful (why did I stick with it, lol). Now there is none of that - sure there is adrenallin in difficult fights, but I no longer get the anxiety going into new areas or coming up to tough bosses. The fear of death has been beaten out of me, haha. Stick with it and I'm sure Elden Ring will do the same for you.
My main tip is against the bosses especially the main ones you have to change your tactics up and can’t spam the same moves over and over agin. The enemy AI is very good and it reads your patterns and adapts Margit is the best example of this you can get him half way down with 1 move but once he learns you will not be able to hit him with that same move once in the second half of the fight . I tried only using a jumping heavy to kill him and easily got him halfway but didn’t land one out of the next 50 or 100 tries
Every boss requires you to learn, it’s not just about skill, if it’s your first time actually fighting the boss you may die 5-10 times before you start learning when to attack, when to not attack, and what build or items you should use! That’s the beauty of bosses in this game :)
This is my first souls game and I've been stuck on the Godrick Knight for a solid hour thinking there's no way you could hit that guy with all the combos he does until I looked it up and found out you can mostly just jump behind him 😅 , this is gonna be fun.
great video.... never thought about rolling towards the enemy. I've been doing it wrong and kept wondering why I keep getting hit. Great tip for someone new to Elden Ring.
I've been playing Souls games for around 10 years at this point and even now, I still often forget to roll towards the attack. I want to kick myself sometimes :D
I sucked at all the souls games until I realized I should roll towards them for DS1 and into their flank for DS3 and Elden Ring (though in Elden ring rolling is not as important as combining all the defensive and offensive mechanics together to take advantage of the seikiro-esque stamina limit of enemies). Everything changed for my play style after learning to use s to my advantage.
Also a tip: if you notice a boss or enemy has a wide swing on a few of their attacks you don’t have to roll, you can just attack while they are hitting air
As someone who is an absolute beginner at the souls games (I played the first dark souls but other games released I was more interested in when the others released so 🤷) but anyway, these tips are really helpful to beginners. I'm around level 200 now so I've become relatively good and confident at this game, but some of these tips were really helpful to me and I know all of them will be helpful to those just starting the game 🤙🏼
Do you know how long it took me to pause the video precisely on the one frame of Hidetaka Miyazaki. The man is a true gaming visionary of our time. He hit the nail on the head when he said he wants as many people as possible to feel the joy of overcoming hardship. That's the core behind why I still pick up the controller after I've thrown it across the room because Father Gaschione killed me for the 20th time. I know when I enter the zone and beat him, I'm gonna get a sick adrenaline rush and jump off the couch, cheering and yelling at my dead foe.
Depends on your stats... also NG plus I killed him first time even though he hit a lot harder, unfortunately i rushed the OG game and lost out to plat trophy... so will be attempting the whole gane again 😅@joewas2225
Tip for casters: Glintstone Arc is a good spell go use for agile enemies, especially humanoids, that dodge spells constantly. Especially in tight spaces.
tip: when for vigor-health, you have a health debuff which is the red box with a down arrow (under your stamina) this is from hugging Fia in the roundtable she gives you an item called Baldachin's Blessing which if used gives an increase in poise but also regains the 5% hp loss
Swift glintstone pebble is good for this too, if they keep rolling spam the first two shots then wait half a second for each of your next shots, I’ve found it confuses both AI and players in pvp because if they were to roll again to try and avoid ur next shot u waiting would get them at the end of their roll
personally i never use the arc stuff anymore, in pvp everybody can dodge them also. if you want fast stuff use carian blade spells... i use the slower but bigger adulas moonblade, that also staggers so most of the time people can dodge what they want but they are going to get hit and stagger, then roll and i hit them again with it
Vigor was something I realized almost immediately. The built-in attribute explanations are very useful. Once I understood attribute scaling, I mostly focused on Vigor until I got a weapon that scaled well enough for the attribute bonus to be worthwhile. I learned to roll into enemies pretty quickly too. Unless I'm trying to fall back to heal, I almost always roll into enemies. Enemies that have two different weapons might also have a side that is more vulnerable. The tree sentinel, for example; you would think his shield keeps that side protected, but most attacks on foot will hit him beneath the shield, so it's usually better to attack him from there where the halberd can't reach you as well.
One thing I would add to the point about dying to learn, if you want to learn to parry an enemy (or for that matter when precisely is the best time to dodge), it is much easier if you know exactly when their strike lands, and the simplest way to test this is to stand there and let them hit you! Feel free to test this while guarding with a shield if you don’t actually want to die.
I watched your part 2 of the mage's guide and you mentioned that the +5 strength that you get from that one talisman is basically worthless for us but if you get to 16 strength and use the brass shield, then upgrade it and use the barricade shield skill you can block everything and everyone while keeping your stamina intact, pair it with a weapon capable of attacking while blocking, the perfect example for that would be the rapier that you get from an npc in the roundtable hold, which also comes with a skill that allows it to get scaling from int and the phalanx spell without using a slot for it. Then you can use said slot for the scholar's shield for even better blocking capabilities. Combine that and you basically remove the biggest weakness for us mages, close quarters combat, seriously I defeated my first crusible knight without even coming close to dying fighting it close quarters
@@pyrokinetikrlz One buff is from a sorcery spell, one is a weapon art, and the shield is never being unequipped. I don't know if that's legit, but I could see a case made for buffs stacking in this case.
To the OP, I just died repeatedly to a Black assassin type mini boss in the lake catacombs of the same description, close quarter situation with no where to run and an agile assassin leaving me no room to cast or gain distance. I'm absolutely trying this kind of combo the next time I get on!
@@chaosinfernoid9008 Yes both the sword and the shield would have weapon arts, and in that case the shield art will take priority. In the case where you are relying on an impenetrable shield and rapier pokes and guard counters, odds are you're going to be hard pressed for casting time anyway so it's a small inconvenience. But again, that assassin has me scrambling to find an additional playstyle for my build! That's my take and you can always use a solid shield with "no skill" weapon art to make sure your weapon gets its powers used instead.
Bro I’ve just started the game as a caster. Seeing you player dish out crazy sorcery was all the tips/motivation I needed to get back in the game after a harsh defeat 👍🏾
I love how the list gradually gets more and more advanced until you get to the last one, which is number one for a reason, and although it's probably one of the first ones that SHOULD have been mentioned, the fact that it's last makes a lot of sense too.
I love playing melee builds and have really never done much more until the 2nd or 3rd play. Sometimes I get jealous though that some casters make tough melee enemies look like nothing
Great tips. Vigor is important. The bosses in this game move so fast and reach so far without over 900HP can easily get one shotted. I also found open field bosses, not closed arena bosses, have operating area. This means you can wear them down using Radahn's greatbow. It deals quite high damage when upgraded. The ammunition can be bought from finger reader in roundtable. 800 runes a piece of great-arrow seems a lot but if you farm at Mohgwyn Mausoleum it's just a few minutes to get 100 arrows worth of great arrows.
New to the from software games with elden ring could not beat the beast man from faramaxula or however it’s spelled, literally watched to tip 3 “roll towards the enemy” and paused to go fight and won first try ! Crazy just how a simple mechanic makes a huge difference! Grabbing my talisman getting to the grace site and replenishing my flasks and watching the rest of this video! Dude thank you!!!
My biggest mistake at the start: raising dps stats instead of Vigor. Only put enough in dps stats to use the weapon you want to start with. Rest in vigor until its at least 30 vigor. Great video with great explanations/tips.
The horse weapon tip was great, I genuinely didn't know that. The thing you missed was having a dedicated horse weapon that has reach and swings vertically. Spears tend to poke down and most swords have sucky reach. Nothing worse than having to spend an age fighting a Night Cavalry because you keep killing the horse and missing him entirely. Weapons that swing down with good length will usually hit him and the horse meaning you'll have a lot less hassle if you're not great on the horse and haven't figured out your dodges, blocks and parries when he's down.
this is my first fromsoftware game and what really frustrate me is the amount of panic roll I'm doing. I finished witcher 3 and so I have the idea what a boss/mob fight looks like (ngl much easier compared to elden ring) but the timings really throw me off. The enemies in elden ring tends to be slower, like they would start an animation that takes about 2 seconds before the actual hit, unfortunately my instincts tell me that I should dodge roll or jump as soon as I see them do an attack animation, leaving me exposed when the actual hit happens.
That's what I also noticed when dodging. Sometimes dodging forward from an incoming attack is safer because you're are out of reach from their hitbox. I just noticed it when im fighting this huge Yogi Bear. Most of his attacks can't reach me due to his wide swings. Then i tried it to some enemies it has the same outcome, mostly they can't hit me.
I unlock a lot. I always feel like being locked on for anything that's not far away and unaware is like being tied to it with a rubber band. The one mistake I often make is mixing up unlock and unsneak when in a panic (ie. fuck it didn't die yet and it's coming at me fast). I can't wait to get the Black Knife armour to never need the sneak button again.
@@lawless7859 The stupid term is Git Gud. Because that's how it's used to just insult rather than provide any proper help. Not everyone has the same approach to learning, just as not everyone will jump to the same conclusions, but then you wouldn't know this given your comment. "How do I get the meteroite staff" - "play the game". Fine example of someone just being an ass. The same applies for get good.
@@Kindlesmith70 So you like for someone to wipe your ass for you? Thats cool, but DS games have never been meant for that. The game is supposed to be the way it is. Party of it is figuring it out. Don't like it then like play something else. Think deeper, not all games are made for you and your playstyle in mind.
@@lawless7859 False equivalent. Failed insult. You tried. It's not Dark Souls. Just pointing out that while there are similar mechanics it isn't Dark Souls. I've had this conversation before with a friend. The game is literally called Elden Ring. There are some major differences to these games which do impact gameplay (tell me you aren't so dim to not know the differences). Different topic this will become which I'm not going to comment on anything regarding this. Facts are facts, and you are entitled to a limited view opinion. "Don't like it then like play something else." That sentiment is completely true imo. I will clear the misconception - I like the game, but this game could have been far better. Again, not being Dark Souls, the developers could have pushed to improve upon the game, but failed to do so. I'm not alone in thinking certain design choices could have made for a better game, and many of those choices could have been ignored by stuck up individuals like yourself, and those who just simply don't want to use those aspects. There is ZERO loss for make implementations to allow people to play the games the way they would like so long as all who are playing together are fine with it. My statement for being stuck up being accurate from your comment : "So you like for someone to wipe your ass for you?". The mentality " I am good at game, so everyone else get on my level, the game is fine the way it is" is so bad for the gaming community as a whole. I'm saying it politely, but everyone knows this isn't how people push that statement across (just as you have). Your way is not the only way a game can be played. While developers don't have to make a game so they can actually make more money and please a bigger crowd, it certainly wouldn't hurt them to to make the game with optional styles of play. As for co-op, it goes hand in hand with open world nicely, just not the way it was implement for Elden Ring. It was a missed opportunity for an awesome game mode. Also to clear a misconception, I've soloed Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, The Old Hunters DLC, two difficulty levels of Nioh above the easiest one, and this all without summoning help from anyone. (Demon's Souls I actually had to play offline because the online feature was no longer active). I've been soloing Elden Ring just fine atm without assistance. Am I l33t enough for you? Yeah I lowered myself to your level for moment to just make a point how dumb this thought process is.
@@lawless7859 I'm not even sure what "So you like for someone to wipe your ass for you?" what's even meant to entail. Have you never wanted to play a game with friends just to play with friends? Maybe you don't have friends, a very wild assumption. It would make perfect sense for your thought process. "DS games have never been meant for that." So what? Can I point out the thousands mods that exist for the hundreds of games, that change the games in ways the games weren't built to be. While not official, without these mods, some games would never be as popular as they are. Proof that a developer's design choice is not always the best choice. Some devs will provide ways within their own games ways to customize the experience of their game, and these devs are amazing for understanding what it means to make a fun game, "fun" not being the same for everyone. So basically you are saying FromSoft are a bunch of stubborn arseholes, or are very sheltered people to not understand this very basic principle. Well, considering none of the games have actually evolved from early design I am pretty much inclined to agree with you. The games do carry over a lot of problems, and just have added more with Elden Ring. If you don't see them, that is ok. As long as you and your l33t ilk are having fun. Pretty much the sentiment. -oooo shot fired lol
Vigor is always my dump stat. I can't help it. I don't like building a stat whose sole purpose is "you can make extra mistakes" in a game where 9/10 deaths are because of your own mistakes.
That’s a common misconception. Damage is good but this is also a game where enemies can chunk your health. It wasn’t as much as a problem in other souls games but now boss can get very close to 1 shooting you.
My strat: go in. Scout the Boss’s moves. Die a up to 5 times while doing this. Then go back in and ram my way thru the boss. Death isn’t that serious. Is part of the game. I also run past enemies unless I am farming them.
@@DnVFMVs the people doing that usually aren't on their first playthrough or have experience through other souls games, which they would gain from dying a lot in
Bonus tip: most enemies can hurt each other, like trolls or halberd/bow golems. Get them grouped up and chasing/attacking you like a train in CoD zombies, and they’ll wreck each other for some very easy kills against high health/damage enemies. Then, the last one standing should be pretty hurt and easy to finish off. Particularly, for the two halberd golems on the bridge in Stormveil with an archer at the back, the archer can drop them if you hide behind the halberd golems and allow you to get some really easy critical hits.
Same. In most other games rolling is a good way to make a lot of distance quickly, and even though almost every game with rolls has s, i always use it for the distance. But rolls in elden ring seem slower than running, so you HAVE to rely on the s, and i can't really get used to that.
I'd add this one: if you're a melee class, do get a bow AND a crossbow. They'll make your life so much easier you won't believe it. Getting rid of trash mobs by range is awesome, especially when there's a bunch of them, more often than not you can just take them out one by one without aggroing the others.
Hmm not impressed with the capabilities of the arrow ammunition, making arrows that are not compatible are my biggest peeve along with the sheer amount of mats to buy, I have a crossbow and bow but very very rarely use them.... mainly for scarabs
From my experience, using the s trick with Torrent works amazing if you use it to get right up within a bosses weak point but are constantly being thwarted by attacks. Dismount Torrent then immediately do the strongest attack you can, then go back to Torrent and use strike and retreat tactics. This works for certain bosses very very well.
Great tips. With lock on, I use it in an evaluative manner. Meaning I toggle it in to see enemies that weren't apparently visible. It also makes me miss less versus a single enemy. It's limiting to multiple enemies or where you need to be very evasive as your camera will have you move back toward your target
This is my 1st souls game so I still have a lot to learn and I'm actually holding my own sorta kinda not really 😂🤣 I was able to beat Margit the fell omen fairly early so that's something. You gave us a lot of tools to become better so thank you for your time and instruction brother. You're doing God's work 👍👍
This is more useful than, "speedrun over to x ignoring every enemy along the way and grab item of awesomeness." I'm mainly interested in fundamental mechanics of the game while I explore it at my own pace. Disclaimer, this is my first "souls" type game that I've played after more than 40 years of gaming. This game is a bitch but really fun.
Good video as always. I would also add one more thing - it's never too early to use consumables. Especially right before the bosses. And one more - adapt to a certain enemies. there is no equally perfect item for every situation
Oh man, I can't unsee that Torrent dismount cheese. Gonna try not to use that but I have a feeling I'll be compromising my integrity, probably sooner than later.

Honestly another best advice I could offer is basically get some of the most Busted Early weapons (Bloodhound fang),Ash of wars (Hourfrost stomp) and incantations (Bloodfire) and so long as you know what role you're playing, build and properly spec to compliment the gear..If you ever feel like you messed, you can always respec,For a price ofc. I swear some of weapons let alone the ash of war paired with right incantation and build are down right busted,Almost easy mode worthy..But you gotta work yourself out to earn them and it's really rewarding. Strafe my brother. Mix up your roll directions, crouch poke and jump attack. Jump over sweeps, and watch out for bucklers! And most of all? Strafe. Stepping left or right or walking through and around attacks when possible can save stamina and avoid deadly attacks.
Before I start a new area that has a boss, I drop a summon sign at the summoning pool and I run through that area in someone else's game until I know the area inside and out. It's good practice, my deaths aren't as meaningful, plus I farm runes and rune arcs.
3, 3 hours, 3 freaking hours fighting Astel, that eldritch duck, 3 entire hours of my life fighting... no getting slaughtered by that monster. There is a special place in hell reserved for the dev that made that horror.
Depending on the spell most all spells cast in front of you, and I have found if spell has homing, if you are not lock on you waste the spell. Very good advice in this video thanks.
I have never really played any soulsborne, so i constantly drop this game because it is stressful and I do not understand any of the turorials, thankfully I finally found a video that helps me.
Man panic rolling, rolling away, and not being patient while I learn the fight. Those make the difference between me being good and me sucking. I suspect game+ will be easier as I have gotten loads better at those things.
Although lock-on can really mess you up and must be toggled as needed; without it, I'm almost unable to hit anything. Particularly with any ranged attack, but even with close melee. I've thrown lightning bolts yet after just hitting, unlocking-on and throwing again misses. I'd be very careful about attacking without being locked-on...
A guy just said if you cast a spell when not locked on and facing any direction, you can then hit lock on right before the spell casts and it'll shoot the spell at enemies but still give you mobility
@@sanjayw9878 yeah I've actually noticed that, now that I'm casting more. But if I don't lock-on, I'll miss every time. I've been practicing "no-scoping" but it's only useful when _not_ in the heat of battle.
@@sanjayw9878 p.s. Thanks for the hot tip. As you all said, late lock-on means that after launching your attack /cast, you still have a chance to hit while maintaining mobility.
Powerful knights like at the magicians academy elevator, use a spear type weapon and do the heavy lunging stabby attack from a distance and then jump backwards and repeat. Makes them way easier to defeat.
An important note should be pointed out at 4:48 that sadly isn't mentioned: Holy damage is weak against almost the entire roster of the mandatory Bosses, because most of them are considered demi-gods. Holy is great for 90% the side stuff, but weak to the main storyline. I wouldn't recommend building holy damage until your second playthrough for this reason.
One thing i've noticed that if you can't roll towards an enemy, try rolling to the side instead. This dosen't work agaisnt all foes, but it's good against enemies with spears or long, thin hitboxes. Hell, some enemies might have an angle to their sweep attack thier swings which you use as a blind spot.
Great Video! I've been wondering if the demi human spirit ashes leveled up would be the most useful against Crystalien bosses considering they mostly use clubs... Thoughts? 🤔😜😁
Also using that time exploring to try as many ashes of war as poss. U may find one that u both really like and that is very effective. It also makes the game more fun to try different strategy’s like using the pots jumping and shield as well as roll. Buffs on weapon etc. experiment as u can always craft more
One of the most important tipps IMO --> Always have medium weight. If you have heavy weight your roll animation is much slower. With the medium roll the combat is so much smother.
When you're a caster, you could just put the catalyst in your left hand and have a melee weapon for the right hand, and when you switch back and forth onto torrent, you'll automatically have melee, and being able to switch the same way. Plus off of torrent, you get access to an ash of war for the weapon unless you're using specific catalysts that have an ash of war
Here's something this newbie didn't know that changed my whole playstyle: you can block while attacking with thrusting weapons. I'm sure every soulsborn veteran takes this for granted but I didn't know this. Once I figured it out combat became so much easier, just melts through bosses with the right set up. The brass shield with barricade ash of war and the estoc in the beginning, makes a joke out of Margit and Godric, poke-poke-poke, let stamina regen and repeat. It's the only way I've won during PvP too
I like your idea of rolling towards the enemy. With me I was dying a lot, so what I did was get that one skill that allows you to basically blink or dash. After that it became so easy to get out of the way. So now I'm a dancing mage lol. I use the barricade shield and have the ashe that lets me blink or dash on my Ugikatana. Usually I use my sceptor but when I know I'm going mele I switch quickly. I'm not sure if I could switch the sceptor to the other hand and cast magic on my sword and blink as well.

Yes this is true but some spells are definitely harder to get off like that especially the rock sling
At least not for someone who can easily two hand some claws and dice yo shit up
If you get mad at a boss, leave and try again later. Anger leads to a less clear head which leads to worse reaction times and analyzing your enemy.
This, sometimes all you need to win is a break
Anger just makes me better
Gotta learn to harness that anger into more focus
Something I found helps me is to not roll but use the back step. It puts pretty good distance between you and the enemy.
Saves stamina too.
I went East..... I went East 🤦
@@dennell we all did. And after that we went west and were wondering wtf was going on with these trashys.......
Interesting you say about anxiety - when I played Dark Souls, I used to get that going into new areas, or getting to a new boss.
@@sampeacey4854 Wow, thanks! I was expecting ridicule and I got love, instead. I will try! I'll go exploring the places you suggested, as well.
Nah thats the annoyance of bosses. You can know the moveset and get unlucky. Happens all the time
Very true! My battle with Godrick went about 4 hrs of me dying over and over before i finally put it all together and put him down.
Bro do the part 3 of the guide already 😂 those are amazing + im kinda already getting your pt 2 done and wanna keep goin
yes pls
I love your guides, part 3 please! 😁
Yes... Please!!! ❤️
Yeah its like following an additional questline. It made me excited to play
And then do a faith build 🙃
Do you know how long it took me to pause the video precisely on the one frame of Hidetaka Miyazaki. The man is a true gaming visionary of our time. He hit the nail on the head when he said he wants as many people as possible to feel the joy of overcoming hardship. That's the core behind why I still pick up the controller after I've thrown it across the room because Father Gaschione killed me for the 20th time. I know when I enter the zone and beat him, I'm gonna get a sick adrenaline rush and jump off the couch, cheering and yelling at my dead foe.
I know what you mean. When I finally beat the first boss the Tree Sentinel I had a good adrenaline rush, and screaming who’s the boss now.
Love this!! So true!
FG was way too easy in Bloodborne. Always beat him 1-3 attempts.
Swift glintstone pebble is good for this too, if they keep rolling spam the first two shots then wait half a second for each of your next shots, I’ve found it confuses both AI and players in pvp because if they were to roll again to try and avoid ur next shot u waiting would get them at the end of their roll
personally i never use the arc stuff anymore, in pvp everybody can dodge them also. if you want fast stuff use carian blade spells... i use the slower but bigger adulas moonblade, that also staggers so most of the time people can dodge what they want but they are going to get hit and stagger, then roll and i hit them again with it
The arc spell is also useful for cutting through shields.
Godlike tip wtf!!!!!
Just spend all your runes. Then doesn't matter if you die while learning
Combine that and you basically remove the biggest weakness for us mages, close quarters combat, seriously I defeated my first crusible knight without even coming close to dying fighting it close quarters
wait wait, so can you use "barricade shield" and "scholar's shield" at the same time? I thought the game did not allow to double buff weapons!
@@TrairFrair
Wait isn't the shield's ability and the one from the Rapier both Weapon Arts? Im so confused.. The Magic Shield Upgrade is on it's own.
Where is Mohgwyn Mausoleum?
@@larrytate1657 in you mom
Coming from other PvP games where dodge rolling is a safety net, that was the hardest habit to break in this game.
I finally beat Limgrave Night's Cavalry with your tips! My samurai was dodging into him for the most part and making him pay for missing.
I broke my contoller because i dont like not being good
My biggest mistake at the start: raising dps stats instead of Vigor. Only put enough in dps stats to use the weapon you want to start with. Rest in vigor until its at least 30 vigor. Great video with great explanations/tips.
True, i used to level up vigor+ dex and str equally which was a mistake
Yea the first 10 points in health is way more valuable then the first ten points into damage.
Mate you are such a legend honestly. The only one on UA-cam with this guide and makes a massive difference👍🏻
This was a great video for an old gamer like me, I like the game but I do struggle getting threw it 🤦🏾♂️
I was today years old when I found out you can press LS to dismount….
Yeah I just keep dying but thanks.
Git Gud is such a troll response. So uncaring. Those people aren't worth talking to nor listening to.
Some great advise in the vid.
Because dying creates struggle. Overcoming that struggle is what this games vision is. Get good is the proper response
"DS games have never been meant for that."
So what?
The vigor tip might be the best one anyone can give. I only started putting into vigor with my Mage. I was rushing to 70 INT.
Glass cannon ftw.
The Horse i-frame was a HUGE help in a particular Main Story boss fight (trying to remain spoiler free)
My strat: go in. Scout the Boss’s moves. Die a up to 5 times while doing this. Then go back in and ram my way thru the boss. Death isn’t that serious. Is part of the game. I also run past enemies unless I am farming them.
Also make to use your runes 😃👍…but, this is what I do as well.
Or git gud and kill em on first or second time
@@DnVFMVs the people doing that usually aren't on their first playthrough or have experience through other souls games, which they would gain from dying a lot in
Just subscribed, great content and very helpful 💯🙏🏽
I love that the first combat scene in this video is the one that brought me here
Bonus tip: most enemies can hurt each other, like trolls or halberd/bow golems.
I panic roll a lot. Rolling at the right time is something I have to get used to.
Forreal me too. I swapped it to L1 and its soo much easier to overly panic roll lol
Same. In most other games rolling is a good way to make a lot of distance quickly, and even though almost every game with rolls has s, i always use it for the distance. But rolls in elden ring seem slower than running, so you HAVE to rely on the s, and i can't really get used to that.
I started this game a week ago, and these tips have been really helping me out.
Great video man, well crafted, straightforward, w illustrations/exampls and laughs too. Outstanding
Awesome mate! The dismount trick is legit
Awesome video! First one of yours I've seen. Very impressed! SUBBED!!!
I always panic roll. Nice video. Good call
I love your videos dude. I learn a lot and get some laughs along the way. I probably wouldn't be sticking with Elden Ring if it weren't for you. Thanks bud, keep it up.
If you're new the soulsborn games, you must watch the video...... tips are actually good & will help
If you're already a soulsborn player, just go play more....... you probably know all the tips
Panic rolling is my signature move!
The Elitist git good club are already complaining at the moment and wishing for a nerf and I swear...they are the real reason why this masterpiece is gate keeped against casuals who just want to have fun.
Great video, I learned a ton from your channel. Playing a mage myself on my way to the Capital, thanks to you!

#2 and #7 absolute game changes for me thanks ☺️
A guy just said if you cast a spell when not locked on and facing any direction, you can then hit lock on right before the spell casts and it'll shoot the spell at enemies but still give you mobility
try that
@@sanjayw9878 yeah I've actually noticed that, now that I'm casting more.
“Never Die Again” in the thumbnail. Bet everything I die within 60 seconds of the next boss I run into lmao
Powerful knights like at the magicians academy elevator, use a spear type weapon and do the heavy lunging stabby attack from a distance and then jump backwards and repeat. Makes them way easier to defeat.
I was happy I was actually doing some of those things, and the others I will try. Thanks.
I started Elden ring with this dudes pure strength build and I have had very little to worry about. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
An important note should be pointed out at 4:48 that sadly isn't mentioned:
Holy damage is weak against almost the entire roster of the mandatory Bosses, because most of them are considered demi-gods. Holy is great for 90% the side stuff, but weak to the main storyline. I wouldn't recommend building holy damage until your second playthrough for this reason.
The Crucible Knight weapons are fine because most of the damage is physical, even from the weapon arts.
This was a really good video. Thank you!
My character has found a new job painting the floor with blood
Great Video! I've been wondering if the demi human spirit ashes leveled up would be the most useful against Crystalien bosses considering they mostly use clubs... Thoughts? 🤔😜😁
Also using that time exploring to try as many ashes of war as poss. U may find one that u both really like and that is very effective. It also makes the game more fun to try different strategy’s like using the pots jumping and shield as well as roll. Buffs on weapon etc. experiment as u can always craft more
Amazing video, thankyou so much!
One of the most important tipps IMO --> Always have medium weight. If you have heavy weight your roll animation is much slower. With the medium roll the combat is so much smother.
I mean...That's just standard lmao
When you're a caster, you could just put the catalyst in your left hand and have a melee weapon for the right hand, and when you switch back and forth onto torrent, you'll automatically have melee, and being able to switch the same way. Plus off of torrent, you get access to an ash of war for the weapon unless you're using specific catalysts that have an ash of war
0:11 "Dis-encouraged" 😆😆
Great video!

It's the only way I've won during PvP too
I might actually do this. I'm partial to spears personall
GREAT vid man.
Well made with concise information!
