This is the best joining granny squares video I have seen. I love the look of granny squares but have hated joining them. I have a bunch of squares and I will be trying this. Thank you.
You are so kind Anne =) Thanks so much for your feedback! (Btw... I'm with you... joining granny squares is almost as painful as hiding tails!) lol
@@chaysiecrochet I have been looking for the perfect seamless tutorial for quite a while & yours really has been the best I've seen!
I have watched your 3 videos on this hidden join. I was looking at all videos on UA-cam and yours seems to be the choice to fasten my granny squares together into a throw...my first one! Thank you 😊
I came up with a honey cell blanket and made soooo many hexagons in several shades but I was just like ahh I don’t want the seam to show! Now I know how!! Seriously the hexies have been sitting around for like two years! Lmao
Thank you
Thank you Kathleen! So happy to hear this join may be helpful to you ❤... btw... I have several of those "set aside for later" projects 😩
this not only works great for joining squares but i used this to sew together the ends of an earwarmer and it looks great. thanks so much for the video.
Fantastic! Yes, this works for so many things... also for turning a scarf into an infinity! =)
I started a blanket then decided it wasn't wide enough so I made another section to add on to it and went in search of a way to do it. Luckily I hadn't gotten that far in length but there were three different colors. I found your other video and gave it a try. Didn't know if I could do it since I didn't have the nice stitches to work in but it came out invisible. Others I saw you could see it on the back side. Sorry to take up so much time. I just wanted to say thank you so much for this. It is amazing and I will definitely be watching you from now.
*COLLEEN, I AM STILL BLOWN AWAY WITH THIS INVISIBLE JOINING METHOD 😊💝! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING & THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊💝!*
My question was the corners. Thanks for including another video for the corners! Lovely video & the "chatty" is awesome! You be you! You're very sweet & I love your tutorials! 🥰
You are too kind 🥰
Thanks a bunch for this. As I was working my squares I was concerned about finding a way to join them without the seams being too bulky or getting in the way. This method is perfect, thanks for sharing
So glad you like the method =) Thanks for your comment! ♥
AWESOME! Thank you so much for sharing.........I was a skeptic, but it really worked! Love it. I am now a subscriber. Can't wait to start sewing my squares together ....right now.

Thank you so much

Perfect Thanks so much
Thank you Simone! ❤
Oh it's the mattress stitch kinda. Neat!
😊❤
It makes sence until i get started. But like lacing shoes. I got that idea. Thankd
Thank you
=D
Hey Colleen! Do you have a video using this technique to join c2c squares? That's what I'm working on now and the stitches aren't as well defined as yours. I tried it just going back and forth and putting my needle where I thought it should go and it worked pretty well.
Wow, nice. The seam is invisible! Thanks.
My pleasure Melnie! Thank you =)
Thanks for less gabbing. LOL I'm 71 and want to get it done soon. This is much better.
You're so welcome Susy...lol 😊
I’m trying to decide on a join stitch and while I like the invisibility and flatness of this there is a slight wiggle effect of all the joins on each video I’ve seen of this method. You know what I mean? I wonder if there’s a slight change that would eliminate that wiggle and straighten the join to make it perfect
does this seam pucker if you use a continuous thread? or do you need to end it after each edge? also, how strong is it? will it hold under wear? will it wash well?
It will only pucker if you pull too tight as you go. Once it's in place, it seems to become a part of the other fibers almost. Daughter still has her blanket, has washed it several times now and it looks great! So sorry for my super late response to your comment... I don't always get notified 😩
Do you cut the yarn and sew thw end into the seam to lock it after joining just 2 squares together? Seems like a lot of individual seams that could come loose.
Hi Elayne! If you look in the description of this video, you will see a link to another video that explains the joining of the 4 corners and finishing off. Please let me know if that is what you were looking for =D
I think this is called the "mattress stitch" when joining knitting(?)
Great video! Would this method work on joining ANY type of squares? Also, are you going into the actual "yarn", and not just "through" the "v", if you get what I mean? What about right side/wrong side? Thank so much!
Hello! Thank you so much for your comment! Yes, I am going into the yarn and it should be invisible on both right and wrong sides 😊
How do you sew the four corners of the squares together?
This joining has been going well for me but I’m getting ready to connect some long rows of 10 granny squares. Suggestions?
I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back with you, just remember it does not have to be complicated. When you connect the rows together just remember to continue the way you have been, and there is another video where I show how to connect around the corners of the 4 squares. This part is also very simple. I'm glad that you have been getting through it without a hitch. Thanks Carolyn! ❤
Do you block your squares before seaming?
Hi Portia! No, I actually steamed the entire blanket section by section on the board then laid it out for a couple of hours. You can absolutely block before, but this was my first granny square blanket, it was done in acrylic and with this join, it actually helps for you to have more of a raw stitch to work into. So, if you are wanting to block, square by square, try blocking 2 of your squares first, then try this method to see if you have any trouble with it. You won't have any trouble getting through each stitch in this join if you're working with an unblocked square. But I would suggest doing a test run 1st if you are going to block before =)
Can you use this method with offset granny squares?
Yes as a matter of fact! Basically, anything that you can match stitches up with to some degree you could use this join for =)
How do you tie the ends?
Looks a touch messy but your teaching skills are awesome🥰
Thank you ❤
...and yes, everything I do is a touch messy 😆
I'm very new to crocheting. So this might seem like sassy question, but I'm truly confused haha.
Here's my question. And then what? Do I put a knot at the end? Do I just cut it with no knot and tuck the tails in? I followed along and successfully joined two squares, but don't know what to do now.
Katie, I'm so sorry! I responded to you yesterday but apparently the comment didn't go through 😩 I have a video that should be linked in the description as well as popping up in a little (i) in the top corner if the video for the 4 corner attachment... I show how to finish it off toward the end of that video... let me grab the link, I'm on my phone responding so it will be just a moment 😊
It's at about 10:36 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZlkjOAf67g4/v-deo.html
@@chaysiecrochet thank you so much!
@@Kadeebug06 you're so welcome! 😁
What do I do with the excess string??? How do I tie it up so it doesn't come out???
Did you ever get an answer or find a solution?
Can you use this with Tunisian Crochet?
I have been able to use this method with some very wonky projects... you just have to get creative with going into the fibers 😊
I WANNA TRY THIS WITH SOME SUNFLOWER SQUARES I HAVE MADE, THAT I DONT HAVE MATCHING YARN TO CONNECT THEM WITH...BUT HOW AND WHEN DO U END IT WITHOUT YARN SHOWING?
Hi jo jo! Go to this video ua-cam.com/video/ZlkjOAf67g4/v-deo.html and I want to say a little after 10 min in, you can see how I finish off 😊 Let me know if this helps you!
would this work to seam up two shirt panels that are just squares really and i'd stop at the armpit area
Absolutely Ophelia! Any project where you are able to work your needles through the fibers you should be able to use this technique =) Great question! ♥
You bet! ♥
Hi....I didn't see the link for the corners. Did I miss it?
I'm sorry... It is all in the playlist and I do link it at the end of the video.. but here is the link =) ua-cam.com/video/ZlkjOAf67g4/v-deo.html Have a great day!
Thanks for being awesome!!!!!!
Oh how I wish I'd seen this 3 hours ago LOL
Oh nooo! =D
:)
Turn the sound off and it’s just as good. 👍🏻✌🏽
😂👍 Perfect!
U didn't bind off the ends. Now, I have to watch another video.
:>/
Pinky Green If you click on the icard in the video Pinky, it shows you the finish off in the 4 corners video 😊
This is called mattress stitch in knitting. Using language like "this one here" is not the best way to teach.
You still talk too much for such a great simply visual teaching.
I concur.. 😩
