Mason taught me more than any of my professors His channel is all about tone worship. And if you care about your sound, absorb everything he says like a sponge
This was a fantastic upload! Mitch and the guy from vertex are just so well-versed in everything about gear, every aspect and I learn so much everytime I listen to these guys and watch these videos. So thanks again for the upload!
Matt - As I wrote to someone else here - would Sweetwater really be working with someone that they hadn't fully vetted out? I doubt with the regularity he's featured on this channel that they wouldn't have intimate knowledge of his public missteps. I predict that most retailers that you buy gear from are likely all doing business with Vertex because they make good stuff and people want it no matter what you think of them. Beyond that, is there anything that's spoken about here in the strategy and approach that is fundamentally wrong??? You may not like the spokesperson, but the information is good and useful.
Youssef - the Dude is a great pedal! I think there are amp applications as well where it might be preferable for some folks, also the size factor is very compact compared to our MKI Ultraphonix (which was all that was available when this video was shot). Both are great pedals, we all hear the "Dumble" sound a bit different. Of course we always recommend our pedal, but if I couldn't have my own pedal, I'd but using the Dude for Rockett!
Hi Mitch. I like your pedalboard and I really like all of your demos. As an alternative to the Starlight & the Ventris pedals I would recommend the Collider delay plus reverb pedal. It would save you some space on the board for another pedal, maybe perhaps the Blackhole for those big ambient effects. It works with MIDI so you can connect it with Iridum for example to an tablet and switch the presets this way on both pedals at the same time. The Collider can also run the delay and reverb in parallel. And you can also have two delays or two reverbs instead of a delay plus reverb. You probably know more about it than I do :).
Thanks guys for this video. I'm a church player like Mitch and this has given me some good ideas for approaching my pedal board. That's good because I'm at the point where I'm thinking about changing things up and putting a super switcher on the board. Maybe you guys could put a video together about using switching devices.
I’ve been eager to see how Uncle Mason made the Interface. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 also I’m planning on having my delays and Reverb’s ambiance sounds after so I can have a favorite amp with more gain. Hopefully soon we’ll get to see diagram for interface!!!
If I swap out the Vision Volume pedal and replace it with a Vertex Boost MKII with VPJR volume pedal combo. Would I put the Boost in the same place in the signal path as the volume pedal was?
All of the pedals are unbalanced so no need for XLR. The buffer output impedance is 100 ohms so you could drive quite a bit of cable before any loss. Adding a DI for stereo outputs would have made the spacing much larger.
@@VertexEffectsInc Thanks, Mason. I was just looking at it from a convenience standpoint, since we've all had the no direct box around situation happen. Fully understand about space constraints though. Thanks for answering and for the depth of info you always give!
I am interested in a Walrus ACS-1 for a silent stage application. do you think a source audio collider will work placing it after the ACS-1 as the pedals you placed after the Iridium? I emailed Walrus and the said this .... "I believe you can! Just depending on the pedal, as I mentioned above if the pedal running after the ACS1 is expecting an instrument-level signal there is a chance the signal could clip?" What are your thoughts... and I realize you may not know for sure, but just your opinion
Hi, John! Thanks for your message, Happy Holidays! ACS-1 is a great pedal. As with any gain device, you need to watch your output level. The Collider has good headroom, so from a totally speculative perspective I don't see an issue. Downside could be if you're not sending a hot enough signal to FOH via the DI box you plug the output of the Source pedal into. The higher the output on the ACS-1, the higher the possibility is of clipping the input on the Collider. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Great job. I have some questions? Mason you say it's a 17" X 14" board, but I can't find that on either the Vertex or Sweetwater websites. What am I missing? I also assume you are using the TL2 Riser.
Great work from Mason... Just like to see Mitch "Dude" pedal setup choices - it is so difficult to see it / I needed to change the knobs. Mitch - can you share?
Mason, is this interface box with insert loop and power, going to be available as part of your DIY series of interface boxes? I was about to build one of these boxes, but I really want to add the insert loop now.
ACS1 handles delay and verb better while going into the front. I sold my iridium for one back in April. I do place my Ventris after it though just to get that nice clean verb tone. My h9 goes into the front of the acs1 and man it handles the H9 like a champ.
Beautiful board as always and great pedal selection. My only personal issue would be the tuner sideways. Not a deal breaker of course to save space but just doesn't sit well with me. You should be able to select Landscape on that Peterson.... Time for a software update!
Why ANYONE would do business with Mason is beyond me....Sweetwater should have done some research on this guy first. Long history of lying and scamming until he gets caught.
Would Sweetwater really be working with someone that they hadn't fully vetted out? They started working with Mason years after what you're bringing up here and I doubt with the regularity he's featured on this channel that they wouldn't have intimate knowledge of his public missteps. I predict that most retailers that you buy gear from are likely all doing business with Vertex because they make good stuff and people want it no matter what you think of them. Is there a massive conspiracy among all the gear retailers of being complicit in denying that the "Emperor Has No Clothes" or is it just a small group of guys that ignore working on their own personal shortcomings by bringing attention to some else's???
Great video great setup excellent job on the board. Very well done. Just one question were does the signal go from the last reverb pedal? Straight to a mixing board or stereo speakers? Using the unbalanced signal?
Thanks for watching! It depends on the situation, but from the output of the pedalboard, the signal usually goes to a direct box to feed to the mixing console. We chose not to put a direct box on the board for space reasons and because many venues already have them. Hope this helps, Mitch
@@VertexEffectsInc yea I seen what you were talkin about later in the video. Excellent video, it's wild how nowadays you could do a show as a guitarist and not even have to have a big tube amp...I liked the pedal board alot. I'm old school I have 10 band mxr eq straight Into a marshall jcm 900 slx....
I'm just as happy to have Mitch using our pedalboards, cables, pedalboard accessories kits, etc. as I am to have any other product being used by him. Ultimately, I'm for what the player prefers - if it's not one of my pedals...so be it. Our pedals aren't supposed to be the focus, it's the rig and the approach to a Silent Stage board.
Mitch, try running the board (Iridium) output in a APD Spacestation (as a stereo FRFR). If you don't have stereo out, split it into stereo then into a small mixer. Experiment with panning and making subtle changes to each channels EQ (the Spacestation will decode this into an even wider sound). I pan 50%-60% L-R not hard panned.

Nice. I have a "silent board" that has a Digitech FreQout pedal for feedback without an amp.
That's a pretty smart feature of the pedal board.

i've gotta get that Iridium, its exhausting dragging my amp to church every week
I have a lot of respect for Sweetwater, their business model, and their values. This was a questionable collaboration.
Made me do a double take when I saw the title, that’s for sure 🤔 Surprised that you were the only one who said something.

How can you have Mason ( the king of D-style amp in a box pedals) and not have one of his D-style pedals? Love the video though. Very informative.

Learn so much from Mitch & Mason describing pedals, how set things up, definitely master of his craft🤘🤘🤘🤘
Are the interface boxes available for sale?
About a month or so
Why not just use an HX Stomp instead of the huge board?
Did Mason mention the proper length for relief on the signal cables between pedals? Like one or two inches?
Great stuff. Mitch mentioned plugging into a direct box. I thought that was the only thing missing was having that built in with XLR outs.

At 1:34 it shows the plug ups, I take it beside the guitar plug it says SND and RTN, I take it that's like an effects loop?
It’s explained a little later in the video. It’s an insert point for external pedals in the middle of the signal path.
