21:52 SUCH A PRO MOVE! Distracts us with a pick scrape, comes back with a slide!!!! That was awesome!!! Best attitude, best chops... Damn! Love that Paul Gilbert!
And yet he looks like a miserable prick that's bored out of his mind. Worst interviewer I've seen in a while. When you're interviewing someone, it's not too much to ask that you don't murder-face your way through the interview.
@@martinrusso409 you know, I still watch this video sometimes. I loved every second of it :) Like everyone else I just got lost in listening to everything he said. My brain constantly trying to come up with something to add or compliment what he was saying. But there was just no need, really. Paul Gilbert just ran with it and there was no reason for me to interrupt him :-)
@@larsfrederiksen3005 Hey Lars, if it really is you then I apologize. I take back what I say about you not enjoying Paul. I'm really glad you were enjoying his presence like we enjoyed the video. However, I will maintain that your role in the video is sorely lacking because you barely contributed any info of value and had practically no reaction to what he said and did. It's 99.9% dominated by Paul. It might as well just be him explaining his rig without an interviewer. Even saying something like "that lick was great" or your tone was awesome would have contributed something more. It just feels like you had no reaction. Compare that to the videos he's done with JHS. Their chemistry is way better.
MojoMojo is the first OD Pedal wich satisfied me. So i run 2 on my pedal board 😆 no need for another OD. Totaly underrated pedal. Best tone for less money.
Same here! I actually got mine in large part because of Paul and it just sounds great. I use it in the same way cause I play a lot of small gigs and I don't have a car so I'm often using the venue's equipment. So as long as I can get an Ok clean sound from whatever amp they have, I throw on the mojo mojo and I have my sound.
Love the way Paul takes over the interview and it becomes a teaching opportunity :) Paul is so open and willing to share his knowledge, such a cool guy.
Paul Gilbert is a classy guy. Easy to approach, humble and full of great stories. I love his no nonsense approach to tone, it just makes sense. The collaboration between TC and Paul is epic!
"You know you found a good pedal when you start playin' better".. so true.ha, ha...love Paul Gilbert..hes freakin funny and seems like a good dude..Thanks Paul, yer the man..
I love that Paul likes to test out wacky ideas. Like that Tremolo idea that totally didn't work. God bless him for showing us that it's ok to try new things!
Paul Gilbert is like the most relatable Rockstar ever, he's literally just like any of us guitar geeks, like a kid in a candy store with his enthusiasm. One of my heroes for sure.
I was just mentioning Paul Gilbert at band practice last night. Quite frankly, he is one of the coolest humans that happens to be a guitar god on this planet. Keep being you Paul, you are an inspiring human! :)
I remember watching PG in the REH vid. Thinking to myself, I’ll never be able to play that fast. Always a cool dude, constructing a killer tone. You sound much better as the years go by.
P. Gilbert, what a cool dude! When he came out in the early days he scared anyone trying to learn to play guitar...now he speaks, and that is a good thing
Became a ridiculous fan during the initial Racer-X years; then found out Paul could walk around the house nailing every Beatle's tune ever penned- and that his true wheelhouse is far removed from just shredding. Not many cooler Guitar demi-gods out there. I am definitely not worthy. Nice vid, TC- all notifications on.
The thing I always notice about PG is he never seems dissatisfied with his sound. I mean, he just loves to play and he's so flexible that he will make it work and put himself into it no matter what. Every sound motivates him to play something cool.
A master amongst masters. Watching him go about his craft is such a treat. He blows you away with his virtuosity, and yet speaks about music in such an accessible way.
The Spark is such a sleeper pedal. I think everyone gets the mini for the booster, price and momentary switch, which is so good, but I’m glad to see the big one used as an overdrive in this video. it sounds great on top of the mojomojo
Paul I will NEVER forget the "LANEY AMPS ARE AWESOME!!" time. I actually LOVE the sound of a straight up Laney tube amp and nothin but a verb and delay. Soundin good already!! Bless you bro.
I could listen to this genuine Man all day. He has such creativity, and all-around intrest in what he does. I've been listening to his music for years, but whenever I happen to find something new of him, it's like a breath of fresh air. I respect him very much. Rock on!
Way back when I was early teen and Paul was in his prime and top of the world. I always knew he was going to persevere above all the rest of those days. Such a down to earth straight up dude. Thank U Paul for all these years of amazing music and virtuosity!
Awesome I love TC Electronics I have the Zues and traded a few things and a Crescendo pedal for an Arena reverb pedal so my board is small lol but will be smokin in a few days wish I had a Good TC Delay Or Fuzz down the line I will Rock On!!
Every year that passes, Paul Gilbert turns more and more into an eccentric uncle. Like, he's five years away from hosting a children's science program. What a legend.
Paul's enthusiasm for knowledge and fun is just infectious in the best way possible. I just saw him last night with my father at the Iridium and it was just an uplifting experience in an otherwise stressful time of life. We were right in front of his rig (JTM45 into a 4x12) and it was loud but not painful, just amazing tone. Thank you TC and PG for all the great tones!
Had a chance to meet Paul at a guitar clinic 20-25 years ago or there about, absolutely one of the nicest guys ever. He was a one man band, even back then just blew me away and I've been a fan ever since. Just amazing what he does! Love the old Racer X stuff and Mr. BIG.
Cool board build. It's so good watching someone like Paul who you can tell just lives through what they're playing, even the shortest riff he's just in it. If you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to spend several weeks watching this vid in slow motion to try and learn all those licks!
I run pretty much the same way Paul does, but I do use the effects loop and I have built a special 3 tier pedal board that its really simple to just plug in the effects loop to you amp and one cable to the front of the amp and plug your guitar in. Very simple! My pedal board is made of yellow pine that I dyed and clear coated. Its badass!
the rusty fuzz was the first pedal i ever bought (i’m new to this!) and now that my pedal collection has grown, i’m continuously amazed how good it sounds compared to all sorts of other gain stages i use. And for the price, truly unbeatable.
I always knew Paul's an amazing guitarist as his guitar tone, but as time goes by, I found he's just a good human being. Warm, humble hearted professional man. I never knew the time comes when I not only get inspired by good guitar tone, but also by a good human voice. Thanks Paul, you'll always be my hero. Oh, and by the way Lars, I could never be that poker-faced and calm like you, if someone next to me shred like that. cheers.
I like Paul Gilbert. He's full of colorful adjectives when explaining his pedal board sounds and building. He's like the architect of pedal boards. Like a kid in a candy store. Paul is a genius. You can't fool us Mr. Gilbert. Behind those glasses we know there is the 80's shredmeister. LOL
Paul Gilbert is like everyone's cool nerdy uncle or something, who teaches you all sorts of interesting stuff and occasionally things that your parents wished he hadn't.
Loving the Vanhalen verb and delay-into-dirt thing here. That's fun. And good call on the Pipeline, I love that pedal. Ended a longstanding search for a trem that I bonded with: it's so freakin' choice. I might have to pick up a Spark to play with. :)
Great vid and awesome sounds! Great to see/hear how Mr Gilbert likes to tweak things. That Mojo Mojo pedal has always been on my radar thanks to Paul - incrediblé!
It's always great to see Paul sharing his opinions on guitar-related stuff. I love his funny personality and his cheerful and jovial disposition (as well as his playing...I mean, who doesn't love that?) His videos always manage to put me in a good mood. Oh, by the way, I subscribed to both channels. Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway!
More n more I'm finding that fuzzes really work best (for me ) as a lead pedal the way Paul describes here. I find that whatever the distortion pedal it always tends to sound thin on leads but if I dial in a killer crunch sound and a nice edge of break up tone I can easily match the fatness of the cleaner sound with a fuzz for leads. Particular this speaks in a live context
Doktor Damage : Yep, he had his tech embed a strong magnet to hold the slide. Very nifty. Pretty sure it's not there in the production Fireman though. 😕
Always acts like a kid in candy store, Paul’s enthusiasm is infectious and makes you want to play. Fun post!
“Loud with the texture of a whisper”, something only Paul can explain ❤️
Paul Gilbert says "the pedal is good if you start to play better" - that's something I MUST remember.
21:52 SUCH A PRO MOVE! Distracts us with a pick scrape, comes back with a slide!!!! That was awesome!!! Best attitude, best chops... Damn! Love that Paul Gilbert!
Paul Gilbert - the nicest guy in music. What a player!!
Paul is somehow both Marty McFly AND Doc Brown all at once.
Great scott !!!
Precisely.
😂😂
With the voice of Jeff Goldblum
That's heavy
A great storyteller. An amazing teacher. A humble hero. Warm greetings from Indonesia.
I always appreciate Paul explaining the "why" when he teaches or explains how or what he's doing. Thanks Paul!
Yup, he's great at that, very transparent as well, no ego either
"...but to be really loud, but with the texture of a whisper. I think there might be something to that." at 6:51 - Perfectly stated!
Now just waiting for Paul Gilbert to visit That Pedal Show.
ME TOOOOO!!!!!
Me: How many guitar faces you can do?
Paul: Yes
All of them.
So many he has to use a bucket to hide some of them. Because he is a cheeseball.
Lars, a personal Paul GIlbert concert from 2 feet away...not a bad job to have.

“Loud with texture of a whisper.” Mr. Gilbert, you are so wise and eloquent.
Kevin Swedlow excellent at getting the sound in his head to our ears......

Yeah and he keeps betting better in classic blues/rock.
Paul: *uses plenty of words like humans do*
Lars throughout the entire 20 min: “Yeah”
I can't blame Lars though. I'd probably do the same thing; just sit back and let Paul do most of the talking.
Lars finally realizes Paul is funny about 20 minutes in!
A good interviewer lets the guest do the talking... So yeah 😄👍
I could watch anything featuring Mr. Gilbert, such a great teacher without the ego.
Please keep making these pedalboard builds with the pros. Many thanks for sharing your insight with all of us Paul.
