The Rig Doctor is IN! Mason Marangella of Vertex Effects dropped by Sweetwater to show Don Carr what’s occupying his travel board these days. Mason’s Vertex Tour Elite pedalboard houses a deceptively slim dual-tier pedal setup that’s perfectly tailored for Texas blues and classic rock ’n’ roll. Pedals include Mason’s own Vertex SSS SRV preamp - for a touch of Stevie’s highly sought-after “D” voicing - along with a tasty selection of stomps from BOSS, Ibanez, J. Rockett, and more. Check it out!

😂😂😂
The guitar/pedal/amp sound in the video is really good. Best sounding "WOYP?" video I've heard yet.
D M wow, thanks!
I have one serious question. Where does Don get his jackets/sweaters? They always look great.
Don looks like a Jon Varvatos guy to me
Old Landau lick there on the Wah, nice Mason :-)
Steffe - yea, a little "Raging Honkies" era.
Duuuuude…THAT Univibe sound 😮 awesome!
It's a great one!
What a unique rig. Sounds great! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, thanks!
Great pedalboard, well done Rig Doctor! Great interview by Don.
Heck yea, thanks Alberto!
@@VertexEffectsInc Thanks to you Mason, for so many advices given in these years!
Don needs a signature visual volume pedal.
Let's strat the "Go Fund Me" campaign!
Wow that SRV pedal sounded fantastic. The TS sounded like it had a blanket over the speaker. I love the all-black Clockwork = (sounds great) and easier on the eyes.
Wow, thanks Michael 🙏
Loving you two and everything you create. Thanks for sharing. Always fascinating. 👍🏼🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Pedalboard Rock & Roll! Great heads up, killer perspectives, thanks guys. Ladies and gentlemen The Marangella Guitar Experience ...Big up!
Thanks Karl!
Great vid guys! Awesome pedalboard demo. Mason is always very detailed in his explanations of his power supply and signal routing. Good stuff for all of us! Thanks guys. I called The Rig Doctor he told me what to do. He said, put the lime in the coconut…
If he likes the full tone wah he should check out the BBE Ben Wah 😉
BBE sound good, no doubt - but mechanically, Fulltone is a step above them all including the boutique stuff and the more mainstream Crybabies. I'd also put Xotic up there as well with Fulltone, their way, mechanically, is better than the standard wahs, but also looks a bit different. If you want a vintage look, you'll have to go with problems associated with the typical enclosures that most wah manufacturers use.
TeslaChad troll level on 100
He’s not going to even go there. I don’t think most people know about him. And Sweetwater why are you dealing with him?! If Fulltone is better u should’ve gooped that one and put your sticker on it and triple charged people. Hmm 🤔 I guess you chose the wrong brand to goop.
No BBE Ben Wah?
pretty clearly stated in the video.
@@VertexEffectsInc 😂
He’s beyond it apparently and there seems to be a ton of people that do not know or want to give him a 10th chance. He now thinks he’s untouchable. Unbelievable. He owes me might a broken down dynamic distortion that fell apart a few weeks into owning. Barely played. Never left my home. Bought grand new.
Yeah that Fulltone Clyde Deluxe is a great live wah that lasts forever. I have a Fulltone OCD I’ve been using since 2004? So old there aren’t any arrows around the knobs and it sounds as good as the 1 st day I bought. I bought a newer OCD just in case that one ever does go but honestly … I don’t think it ever will. Reliability !!! … and killer sounds Fulltone was/is always good for that and that wah sounds amazing JIMI is my fav on that one too. Have to love JIMI ! ❤️ nice bluesy riffs and glad to hear your back to getting out and playing live with your board ! It’s been a dead few years but this year it finally feels like live music is finally back for everyone !
It's the best built wah out there, no doubt mechanically.
Sounds pretty good! A really good use of a Wet/Dry/Wet rig :)
I agree the Dimension C waza is my fav thus far out of the waza series and the rack system add is awesome feature ! The SRV vertex pedal sounds great ! Clockworks sounds awesome and enjoyed hearing that backround on that pedal as a huge JRAD fan I use a lot of there dirt (archer ikon/archer clean/Animal) and I’ve wondered if any of there other effects sound equally as good. Clockworks does sound excellent. I didn’t know it was a memory man and I thought it was digital so this was worth a watch. Very knowledgeable on tone and guitar sounds. Interesting terminology your dropping here ! Fun watch and listen and aways love to hear more about wet/dry/wet setups ! Thanks sweetwater and mason feel like I went to guitar tone history class here 😄. Heard alot of cool info I’d never heard before here and that’s always worth my watch time ! Cheers
Wow, thanks so much for watching Luke 🙏
Awesome rig Mason! Its always fun to see what type of boards people come up with. Next Vertex build episode should be for Don Carr.
Sweetwater, please try to get GFI Systems to join the Sweetwater family. Amazing pedal company.
Wow, thanks Orry!
Great stuff! Would love to see the schematic on how the wah and volume pedal are wired in relation to the pedalboard/input module

@@VertexEffectsInc I'm still trying to wrap my head around this, but I'm guessing it is something like the wet/dry/wet schematic on the sweetwater page, but with Vol pedal in the FX loop and only 1 amp instead of 3?
Great Funky Vibe from @sabbadius as always!
Cool!
great video
Can the cab Zeus be used in an fx loop to do the same w/d/w thing? I’d like to do something similar with a D style amp with the Kleinulator but want the option to run just mono (with wet fx in loop) if a sound board isn’t available.
No, it’s best used as I am with a line out box. We have several videos showing how to use the line out box feeder digital cab simulations for the wet from the dry amp. You should check them out. You won’t need to use your effects loop at all for this not any active effects loop conversion boxes like a Dumbleator.
blinded by the tone!!! whats the vibe pedal in the start of the vid???
nvm...thx...found it...haha!!!

@@theodorek.b.2103 that's the one!
Mason rocks 👍👌🥇
Wow, thanks Jan!
@@VertexEffectsIncno actually he's a loser and a thief
I ordered one of your input modules from sweetwater about 6 months ago and I’m still waiting, so obviously sweetwater doesn’t have them available.
I hear your frustration...it's been tough for us too. We ordered a custom made transformer a year ago, and literally just got them 2 weeks ago. The first batch shipped to Sweetwater on Wednesday so they should be there early next week. My hope was that by the time the video aired they'd have landed. Thanks so much for your patience :)
I want lights on my volume pedal too!
When I saw both of you I thought maybe you would touch on hair care products. 😊 Great tones!!
Mine's a toupee!
What version of Funk-Vibe is on the board.
It's the '68
@@VertexEffectsInc do you think the 68 is the best one? I am having a hard time deciding which is the best, Maui, Fillmore, 68, 69 and Woodstock. There are so many. Please give me your thoughts.
Wonder why he switched from the Cab M. Perhaps I'm misremembering though.
I love the Cab M it's just not stereo, so I couldn't do wet/dry/wet with it like I can the GFI Stereo Cab Zeus.
@@VertexEffectsInc gotcha. I had a feeling, but would rather confirm than assume.
Which company makes that mini NOIR pedal?
Analog Noir
I have a serious question. Do you really think that a speaker (Modulator) That is what I am calling it as I do not know the proper termanology, is all that important? Thank you-Shawn Shipstad.
Are you talking about a modulation pedal?
Does he still sell other peoples pedals as his own?
Clyde Deluxe? Where’s the Ben Wah?
Ben Wah is not as good mechanically, that goes for pretty much any other traditional rack and pinion Wah out there. Xotic is also very nice mechanically as well, but I prefer the sound of the Clyde despite not looking as vintage as some others. Certainly there are many good Wah options to choose from as stated in the video.
The Fulltone Wahs are pretty beefy, in both their sound and their construction :-). I just got one of the latest Supa-Wahs in their going out of business sale, it is built like a tank and has lots of good wah options just like the Deluxe.
@@glendoggett9670 That's a great wah too, even more options than the one I used here.
@@VertexEffectsInc thanks for not taking Elmer's bait, a total troll move followed by a respectable answer - rare sighting on UA-cam ;). Haters gonna hate. This rig sounded great BTW!
@@VertexEffectsInc Many thanks for the great demo, I think you did a great job here explaining the motivation for what you were going for, and nice playing demonstrating how you got there. Many thanks. Great hosting by Don there also.
Anyone else think he looks like Bruce McCulloch from Kids in the Hall?
I guess add that one to the list. I've been said to resemble: Jack Black, Ricki Lake, Emile Hirsch...the list continues.
@@VertexEffectsInc Ricki Lake!? Really???
@@theodorek.b.2103 yes, believe it or not
no BBE wah?
Should be self-explanatory if you watched the video and why.
It takes some cajones for him doesn’t it?
It was funny when he said "here's the dry" and then played through SO MUCH reverb and delay.
Yea...sorry! That was pretty wet LOL!
@@VertexEffectsInc haha, it's all good Mason, everyone understood what you meant. Your rig is SO well thought out. And dialed in!
Anyone else “perv out” on Tube Screamers - ha yikes!
Stevie Ray Vaughan for one
@@VertexEffectsInc John Mayer, KWS, EJ, Phil Sayce, the list goes on...
No boss wah?
Does Boss make a wah anymore? I remember the PW10 V Wah from like 20 years ago.
You mean BBE WAH?
Unsub!
I’m confused. Isn’t this guy known for building pedal boards? Why is he talking like he’s a touring musician? Does he use his status as a pedal board maker to get people to watch him play? I’m legitimately confused. I’ll put it this way, I don’t wanna watch the guy who makes baseballs pitch. I wanna hear him talk about making baseballs, but not pitch. Maybe I’m missing something. Maybe he’s in a touring band I’m unaware of and the pedal board bit is his side business.
I manufacture pedals, and we have a lot of UA-cam DIY content on building pedalboards (however I don't build pedalboards for hire or as a career). I'm also a guitar player. Did you feel the guitar playing and tones were inadequate comparatively to the types of players features on this channel or What's On Your Pedalboard? If I'm not mistaken other manufacturers have been on this show, including Josh Scott from JHS, and I've also seen Sweetwater Sales Engineers on here as well. At its core, the show seems to be a celebration of the pedalboard in its many forms, and not exclusive to a particular artist or musician.
Does he make the boards or does he outsource them? Ask BBE Wah or Joe Bonamassa google the guy. Mason you’re dam lucky people are so forgiving but you’re past 2nd chances with me.
He also steals other people's designs and sells them as his own
This isn't a "what's on your pedalboard" episode, it's an advertisement for a company called vertex effects
How so? Only one pedal on the entire board is Vertex. Most of the pedals on here I don’t make nor have any affiliation with.
It's youtube.
@Vertex Effects the sales pitch starts about 40:00, although he pepers it in earlier each time he mentions his products that are sold at sweetwater. He slips up near the end and says "thanks for having me for v2" which refers to their version 2 line of pedalboards, implying this is just a promo agreement between his brand and Sweetwater to promote the product.
@@makeajazznoiseYTstoleit It's V2 of "What’s on Your Pedalboard?" because this is his second one Goofy.
@@makeajazznoiseYTstoleit Mason has a big enough presence man he doesn't need to go on Sweetwater to sell his gear. Just take it for what it is..a cool pedalboard rundown.
