Indian Motorcycle Sign - CNC Cut
Вставка

- I made this Indian Motorcycle sign on the CNC router for a customer. The sign was designed using Vectric V-Carve Pro. I tried a couple of new finishing techniques where I masked the sign before I cut it so I could fill in the letters with a different color. Then I carefully used a paint roller to touch up the areas where the paint tried to bleed through the mask. Turned out great! Lemme know if you want a sign like this or anything else you can dream up!

You are an artist!
Beautiful.
I just started doing a little of this for fun with my new X-Carve. I tried to do this with the tape but had a lot of trouble with it pulling up. Love this video. I have probably seen it 4-5 times. Thanks for sharing!
Sweet build, can't wait to get my cnc router going.
As a Chief Roadmaster rider, I love this. 😎
Hey! great video there, I love Indian Motorcycles and making CNC wood carving signs, greetings from Ecuador!
I'm new to CNC and have been banging my head trying to figure this out.. excellent video.. seems the step I am missing is to paint the board and cover with painters tape BEFORE carving.. Going to try this tonight!!
Nice job on the Indian sign!
I'm a tech teacher and have made hundreds of these types of signs in the last few years in my school shop. One thing I do to prevent the little leaks around tape lines is to use a j roller and really press the tape in before we cut it. Another thing we do is sometimes use Contact Paper (self adhesive shelf liner) as the masking material. I liked your technique of using a paint roller to fix the leaks. Good work
+Brian Smith Thanks Brian, I appreciate you watching! Great tips. Thanks for sharing with everyone. I have studies on the contact paper before but always worried it was a tad too thick and stretchy to cut clean. I'll give er a try now though.
Love the sign! After seeing your new CNC upgrades, I'm looking into getting one like it in my shop. Also, you might try using clear, self adhesive, shelf liner next time you have a similar project. One single piece of masking rather than multiple strips of tape. Saw that on another CNC site somewhere.
I am glad I found your channel. I have been having problems with my signs and I picked up on a few tricks watching you. The trick to touch up is get as much paint off of the roller when you make the final passes. And the wire brush. Thanks for sharing.
+Marc Eaton Thanks Marc!
Man of few words but a lot of talent.
A couple great tips in this vid. Thanks for sharing!
+Gacy x Thanks for watching, Gacy!
Awesome! Thanks for posting!
So nice to watch!
I have no idea how you got your lettering so clean with blue tape...looks great! *jelly*
Beautiful sign..... must be original Indian from 1901.... Todays indian is from around 2005..... only the name is original.....,
Great idea with taping it first!!! I'll have to use that. Turned out sweet
Mac n Wood Thanks for watching. The tape holds up pretty week with a v-bit but a straight cut end mill tears it out some. I actually re-taped and trimmed the areas that tore out. Overall it worked really good. I had never tried it before so I did not know what I'd end up with.
This sign came out beautiful!
+Michael Estes Thanks, Michael. I appreciate the view.
Awesome sign, Feddy. Always loved everything about Indian Motorcycles. Thought it was going in your shop but looks good anywhere! Great job. Troy
secondwind75 When I was a kid there was a hardware/garden store in Weber City, Va that used to sell Indian trail bikes. I wanted one so bad but never got one. I've liked em ever since.
Muito lindo, parabéns!!!!!

+Robert Magnusson Thanks!
I enjoy all of your stuff. I'd love to see a video showing details about your CNC. What is it? Where did you get it? Table size? Anything else you can think of to help out someone who might be looking into one.
How much would a cnc chevy sign cost in a similar shape and size to this? With the text chevy runs deep under or over the logo. I love the look of this sign and would like something similar for chevy that would be awsome
Very nice job!
Thanks!
Love ur videos u do a great job inspire all of us out here u have a great attitude > Were can a guy get a cnc machine like that ? Sebastopol jim thanks and keep up the great work
Nice work!
Thanks!
Great looking sign ..... you are having way too much fun with the CNC, keep up the great videos
Mick Martin Thanks Mick. I was checking out your channel the other day. I did not realize that you are using a Camaster. I've been looking at those now that I have cut my teeth on a DIY machine I have. They aren't far from me. About three hours down the road. I've been thinking about driving down sometime and checking them out.
Check out CAMaster forum at www.camheads.org
Will do.
great job mate
+TheAntipedy Thanks!
nice job
Very nice!
Thanks John!
Nice sign! jamb extension & trim that door! lol
smith-models Thanks! Yeah, that door is one of many details I never finished on the house. :-)
Nice!
johnny35745 Thanks!
looks awesome!!! what cnc machine did you use? I am in the market for one.
Really love the sign, colors, fonts everything just looks perfect! Did you design it from scratch or did you find a existing logo ? seems like thee font for the Indian is unique
Thanks Steve. I used a logo and then touched it up to suit the tool paths that were required.
I’d like to try making one of those you did a great job , where did you get the file to cut it , thanks John
Cool finish great sign I can see you sitting in a lawn chair at the Walmart parking lot selling your wears. Maybe some velvet paintings?? Elvis, Giant Panda Bears, Lions, etc. Lol
Milton Fludgecow Ha! I like it!
What did you charge the customer for this sign? It's beautiful :)
Love the videos that you make! But i have a couple of questions. I am a senior in high school that has been using the schools cnc to make different products for family and friends. I recently saved up enough money to get my own for downstairs. I am a whole lot better then my construction teacher at the machine :) But when i try to recreate a masterpiece, like this sign you made here the tape comes off every time. I tried using different bits like a v-bit(60 degree .25") and a v-bit(90 degrees .5")
Am i missing something? Did you change the speed rate? Are you using a different bit? What exactly did you do not to get the tape to come off while cutting out the sign? Is there anyway you can send me the saved file? Thanks Trey
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nice video. I think I would have crapped myself on the last stage with that roller...
+Chris Stevens Hahahaha. I did..... :-)
Great looking sign,I’d like to try to make one we’re did you get file to make thanks 🙏 John
very very nice.. what type of paint you used ( red ) .. water or oil based paint
looks awesome. now i hear that damn smoke detector all the time since i watched the ghost video . lol
BUBBA BELL Would you come over and make me fix that thing. Oh, and bring a pizza and a couple cold packs. :-)
lol hell, we would need a few pizzas and a case or two cause i like to eat and i like to drink some cold beer.
Lookin' good! By the way, what brand of CNC do you have?
BradleyMakes Thanks for watching. It's a CNC Router Parts Pro4896.
Very stylish sign :-)
What is the brand name of this blue tape?
Looking damn good! Can you give some insights in the, wood material (plywood or several pieces glued together), tape used and router bit. I tried a similar approach, but my tape got more torn that cut. and gummed up my router bit. Your cuts looks much more clean. Thanks in advance. Bo.
Bo Andersen Thanks Bo. I appreciate you watching. The wood is just a cheap stain grade panel board from Lowes. It's either pine or whiteboard. It's real soft. The tape is just a good quality painters tape. This was the first time I had tried this technique and it worked pretty good but there will be areas of tear out. I just had to re-tape and trim with a razor knife afterward. My bits did not gum up too bad. I was running a 90 degree V-bit at about 14k rpm. Since then I have made a couple using the large 90 V-bit on the large letters and a smaller 90 V-Bit (running wide open) on the smaller letters and had a little better result. I buy all my bits from toolstoday.com. Here's the part number on the bits: 180-20 & RC1102. Hope that helps!
Great video.. where those fonts single line? thanks
Hi, what cad software are you using for these signs? Are you creating the tool paths on it and then taking the g code to the machine?
Where do u buy the programs, that machine does an excelant job
whats the material called you use to cover the sign before machining?
is that a glue up board or a sheet of plywood?
Great looking project! What CNC do you use?
+Craig Williams Thanks. It's CNC Router Parts CNCRP Pro 48X96. Give Cory a call and tell him I sent you.
What kind of wood did you use?
A truly impressive sign!!! It looks like you made it with the same quality if wood that you used for you Harley sign is that correct? I have a great friend who rides the Kawasaki Drifter which is designed to honor the Indian and I am just going to the wood store to purchase some wood to make this for him. What colour did you use for the 'white'? Would you share the file?. I have started watching your videos and subscribed too. Thanks for the great videos!!
looks like....no
Feddy that turned out great. Is this the type of thing you do for a living? I watch all of your videos but have no clue what your "profession" is.
skwerlee Thanks for watching. I appreciate the kind words. You'd be surprised to know my eclectic basket of things I do to put food on the table. Literally a little of this and a little of that. It's all legal though. Ha!
Awesome work, what kind of red paint was that? Enamel, acrylic, latex?
+Stephen Romanski It is General Finishes Milk Paint. Brick Red mixed with a dab of Lamp Black. Thanks for checking it out!
What brand/model of router do you use? Thanks.
what feedrate and what rpm did you vcarve at?
try the crinkle drying clear coat for an aged look.
+Benny ofAtlanta Great tip. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your video.¿me could you say what kind of adhesive tape use to do the job? I've done it so many times, but I splinter off and the adhesive tape each time I do.Greetins from spain
+cocinas y puertas acuasol It is just regular painters tape.
i would love to add a router attachment on my plasma table if i knew my gantry was was rigid enough to handle one.
You're doing routing, not milling. I would think it is.
Do you sell em and if so how much...Thank uou....Great video and clean work
+GASOLINE JUNKIE Thanks for watching. Yep, I'll sell you one. Send me a note at blazingnailgun@gmail.com and we can talk about some options.
Can I get a copy of your vector file on this project? Looks great! Ty
what was the spray you used looks like rubber.
You should buy a hvlp gun and compressor and spray the poly since its far cheaper by the gallon than the spray cans.. sigh looks good
just out of curiosity,,,,what size of stepper motors are you using on the x,y,z ...axis.......beautiful sign ,,,well made.
Thanks for watching. They are NEMA 34's.
