I really like it to!!! But just can't go wrong with oak!...Thanks for watching!!!
This one is beyond beautiful. I love the last that stain!
It did come out great!...I was bummed when i got to editing and found that I hadn't turned the camera on during staining, but I mean its just wiping it on the wood then wiping in off, so didn't miss much....Thank you and thanks for watching!!
You make it look easy !
Thanks for sharing Brian.
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!

Really like the technique with the air brush. Great tip. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
i love the sign..thank you for sharing
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Nice. Been watching others paint signs to ideas on how to do some things. You're the first I've seen using a small airbrush and I think that's great. Lots of control and less overspray into other areas which means less sanding. Good job!
Great job. Love the paint technique!
Thank you!!! and thanks for watching, I flipped over and looked at your channel, i'm going to go watch a couple of videos!
Get ready for some amateur video, but thanks!
Wonderful project.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!

Thank you!!! absolutely, just give me a shout at Smokeyscnc@gmail.com, Thanks for watching!!
Wow great job it looks pretty cool.👍
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Another masterpiece. WOW!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
@@SmokeysCNCWoodworks If you had a computer photograph do you think you can do that in wood too? Like an silhouette of a girl working at a kitchen table?
I have actually been working on that very thing...I've got to figure out which style I want to do it in...One is with lines and one is with dots....At some point I will probably do a video of one or the other style, hit me up again at that point because if I'm making a video of it i've figured it out!!
Beautiful!
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Three colors! Impressive. 👍😀 Yes, I am already a subscriber to Heaven's Gates.
Thank you and good deal, wow those winters they have up there!!!..Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful sign Smokey, I have a sign shop in Canada. I do a bit of cnc work myself. Very impressed how you laminated that oak together.
Thank you and Thanks for watching!!!
Great looking sign, good Job
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Great project and work. You have a nice channel.

You bet, he and I have been talking back and forth and it for a while, Thanks for watching!!!
you amaze me wow
Thank you!! and thanks for watching!!!
Nice work, I do mine with a router but have been trying to find a better way to get multiple colors, Never though about an airbrush!! Nice job
Love IT
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Nice!
Thank you and thanks for watching!!!
Nice work
Thank you!!
Great job! I'm going to have to get an air brush setup as well.
The airbrush is the only way to go!!!! saves a bunch of time and not nearly as much cleanup, sanding or masking....get a decent airbrush because you can be really precise (no masking) .....Thank you and thanks for watching!!!
Happy with yours?@@SmokeysCNCWoodworks
yes, I am!!....am actually going to buy a couple of cheaper ones for when i'm doing large areas and set this one aside for very detailed stuff....
What airbrush do you have and where’d you buy it?
Smokey's I am blown away by that Sign, you are awesome. Everybody On my Channel and UA-cam Will know your channel!!!!!!🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒 I'm going to do a hole video on you and that sign when I get it!!!!!!🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
Thank you hopefully Some of my subs come your way to!!
I like the air brush idea, how do you deal with paint bleed?
Unbelievable! You are SUPER talented, I love it! Thank you so much and can't wait to receive it in the mail. Please let me know how to pay you, PayPal or thru the mail. We're gonna share this for many of our videos to come. Thank you again, AWESOME!
Yes WE are, I'm going to put it up on the farm and it will be in almost all my video. and every time I show it I will put your channel in the description so all can see!!!!!🍒🍒🍒
@@HeavensGatesCherryFarm I think it is just superb. It should increase your visual traffic considerable. :-)
I hope you put some video content out. I just sub'd your channel #38. :-)
I'll email you with payment info, I may do it through my wife's paypal she has just set it up and she hasn't ever used it....so when she gets home i'll have her get me the info for her account and she can do a transaction through it.
Thanks so much and have a good evening.
Great sign keep it up m8
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Can you tell me what kind of paint you use in your airbrush and do you thin it any? I’m wanting to incorporate that into my work. Thanks
what kind of paint do you use? and do you mix it with anything? Sometimes the paint bleeds and it's difficult to get rid of without sanding everything away. thanks
Awesome video; Do you do any CNC Tutorials? I just subscribed after viewing this video, great job of showing the build processes.
I've shown a few on how i programmed something...are you looking for a walk-thru on setting up the machine to go to work?...Or what exactly are you after??.I'm open to suggestions on stuff like that, because if it helps just 1 person, its a successful video...Thanks for coming over and thanks for watching!!!
Amazing. What do you treat the wood with before painting to prevent bleeding?
It varies, sometimes I use sanding sealer or a light coat of poly and at times I don't use any pretreatment ....Thanks for watching!!!
Do you use sanding sealer before carving?
Thanks. What kind of paint do you use? I'm having issues with pooling and cracking of the paint in my carves.
I use a airbrush now just a acrylic, on that sign for the cherry farm I honestly don’t remember, sorry
Hi, nice vid. I enjoyed your painting technique with the air set up. Can you tell me your set up as far as psi, compressor, your sprayer and the type of paint your using. Do you add water to the paint?
One more thing, it didn t appear that you put a sealer on the sign before you painted it. I would think that oak would bleed pretty good without sealing it. I welcome your comments. Thank you sir.
I use a Iwata revolution airbrush, I'll have to get back on the psi, i'm in the house and its late i'll have to check on that for you, using createx paint not thinned down and its a master compressor, links for all of these things are in the description box below the video...I do seal sometimes and sometimes I don't. I use sanding sealer when i do seal it....Some runs of oak work awesome without sealing and some don't...I usually just inspect how open the grain is before i get started and even then I miss sometimes...Thanks for watching!!
Nice work there Smokey, great looking finish. How did you manage to prevent the sanded dust residue from contaminating the pores of the rest of the wood background?
generally the sawdust doesn't pose a problem for just the wood....however, most of the time I do a light coat of spray poly just after cutting and before painting...That way excess paint is taken off with the light layer of poly....
U dont seal the carving, before u airbrush the color?? Im wondering why your wood is not bleeding.
so beautiful ! that use v bit only or need more bit ?
Awesome sign. by the way which CNC do you use? Model?
Very nice! Wondering, did you seal it before you air brushed it? If so, did you seal after the cut, before and after, etc? Also, I’d love to know what you used as the sealer if any. I love the air brush idea!
On this one used spray polyurethane before I started cutting....Thanks for watching!!
Do cut to a fixed depth of cut? If so what depth do you use? Thank you. I enjoy your videos.
Yes usually....I have found that the sweet spot for my machine is between 0.13"-0.17" depth.....Thank you and thanks for watching!!!
what size are the bits you used?
What kind of paint did you use????
Hello, I am from México. I want to ask you, What kind of painting are you using? Thanks a lot...
I use a Iwata Revolution airbrush with a Master aircompressor and I'm using createX opaque paint....Thanks for watching!!
Do you remember about how long it took to carve the sign (minus cutting the oval)? Is the router running for 15 minutes, 30, 60?
Thanks!
Oh wow, no, knowing what I know now, I would guess about 35-40 minutes at about 70% run speed, I seldom run at 100% run speed to stave off skips and burns.....Thanks for watching!!!
What CNC do u use? Software? I really want to get into this! Awesome work
Check back to my early videos....I built this one from the ground up and did the electronics and computer hook up....Thanks for watching!!
With the stain do you just wipe it over the whole sign? Do you have to avoid the colored areas?
I'm not real careful, it doesn't seem to effect the colors with the exception of white, white ends up looking nasty...I try not to get it on the color anymore than possible...Thanks for watching!!!
Great video, thanks, what is the paint you are using ?
CreateX.....Thanks for watching!!!
Nice sign I like the fact you are using something other than Pine. Did you consider using cherry wood for a cherry farm? Do you ever notice the stain changing the paint colors or did you just use clear polyurethane?
I don't have any cherry at the moment....and the stain only discolors white to this point. I'm going to do several coats of poly on this because its going outdoors...Thanks for watching!!
What kind of paint do you use? Do you seal before paint? Stuff turns out beautiful!
I don't recall what paint I was using at that time...If it was airbrush it was createx opaque and on oak I use sanding sealer before even cutting a lot of the time....Thanks for watching!
What depth do you use on depth for you vbit and do you carve online outside or inside on the paths
Depth on this one was about 0.14", and on the profile cut (the outline oval around the design) I did outside, if I do 2 circles/ovals, I do the outside one on the outside and the inside one one the line.....Thanks for watching!!
Looks awesome! Just wondering why they didn’t want it made out of cherry.
Thank you, well I didn't offer up Cherry, I told them I would make it off Oak....To get cherry wood here, the cost of the sign would have been 3-4x as much.....Thanks for watching!
Nice job. Do the painting penetrates into the wood grain?
It can....when I feel there is going to be a problem with paint penetration I cover the wood with a light coat of sanding sealer or spray poly...
This sign looks great. I am a high school teacher trying to figure out some good tricks for my students. What is the paint sprayer and type of paint you used? Great stuff.
I use a Iwata Revolution airbrush and I use CreateX paint (paint from hobby lobby)....email me at smokeyscnc@gmail.com and I will tell you anything you want to know about this stuff, both of my parents are retired school teachers....Thanks for watching!!
What are you using for your airbrushing setup and type of paint?
The airbrush is one from the Iwata revoution series, the paint is createX opaque
Please, what CNC do you use? I am interested in acquiring one
Check back to my early videos....I built this one from the ground up and did the electronics and computer hook up....Thanks for watching!!
Awesome, what kind of paint did you run through that air brush?
CreateX...It's a hobby lobby brand...Thanks for watching!!
What kind of air brush do you use? Very impressed with your work!
Iwata Revolution....Thanks for watching!!!
That's really a nice job you did there. I have a CNC and have made some signs, but I have used Krylon paint as well as some others to color them then run them through my Woodmaster 25" planer to finish them. I also have a couple of airburshes that I used to use when painting metal signs and weathervanes. For those I used "One Shot" lettering enamel. In watching your video I noticed you pouring that Createx paint right from the bottle into your airbrush cup. Is that stuff thin enough to use right out of the bottle or do you thin it down. I always had to thin the paints for my airbrushes to a consistency of water to allow them to flow properly out of the brush. I'm really curious about that and would sure like to know more about that Createx paint. Thanks Smokey, and again, that is really a beautiful sign you made there. Best to you.
Jim
I did use rattle cans, it was just to much sanding, the CreateX comes from hobby lobby, Occasionally I'll run across a color, Blue is one of them, that I have to thin with water a little, the black and red seem to do just fine without thinning....I have a 13" planer as well, I plane rough stuff before CNC....I don't run my stuff through the planer on video (kinda takes away from some of the video in my opinion)..The putting it through the planer after painting does work well, I sometimes do that on stuff I'm not videoing and do it on large orders as well. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the information Smokey, I'' get some of that Createx paint and give it a try. I like the way you can concentrate the paint in smaller areas as compared to rattle cans. Thanks again.
Jim
You bet, you won't regret using a airbrush, If I would take my time, I could cut the sanding down a lot...painting isn't my favorite thing to do though...
Do you seal the wood before painting? Thank you
Sometimes but not always....when I do seal I use sanding sealer or a light coat of spray poly.....Thanks for watching!!!
Very nice work. What paint and airbrush are you using?
Iwata Revolution....and CreateX opaque paint...Thanks for watching!!!
I have a cnc Router but I do not know how to do engraving on it. I can only do cutting of letters. can you do a tutorial for me on how to do 2d or 3d engraving...
I will work on it....Thanks for watching!!
How do you keep the paint from bleeding into the wood
On oak I usually use sanding sealer on the wood before cutting..Thanks for watchng!!
😍😍
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
hi what paint you use on the paintbrushes
CreateX...It is the brand that Hobby Lobby carriers and I have one close to us, so its just handy....Thanks for watching!!
What type of paint do you use with the airbrush?
CreateX...I have a link in the description
How would you price that and what did you charge for that please help
.email me at smokeyscnc@gmail.com
What is the CNC you are using?
Well that is a a Smokey#1 lol....I built this CNC from the ground up, ordered all the hardware and electronics, wired it up and went to work!!...Thanks for watching!!!
Great Video! What grain orbi sandpaper did you use?
Thank you!!! usually 100 then to 120...Thanks for watching!!
You should try Oramask 813, much easier painting
Ok thanks, I'll see if i can find it and give it a try....Thanks for watching!!
what would you charge for that sign Please Help
Are you trying to figure out how to price?....email me at smokeyscnc@gmail.com
Awesome! You like the frued bit?
They work well and have found that they handle getting sharpened several times before they are no longer with in the tolerance witdth. I have 3 of them and 1 of them is probably going to be done after the next sharpening or 2.....Thanks for watching!!!
@@SmokeysCNCWoodworks Thanks! I believe my Dewalt 611 will handle the 1/4 shank...its at a good price. I think I'll pull the trigger through your link. Thanks!
Thank you and thanks for watching!!!
Smokey's CNC Woodworks Could you do a video (unless I missed it) on the bits you use and sharpening bits? I just bought the 90 VBit. The 1/8 end mills you listed state they are for metal on Amazon...may be a dumb question, but I assume the are good for wood? Thanks!
I did a video quite a few videos ago about how to sharpen the bits, I have link to get the sharpeners, they are like $10-$12 dollars.....I've been using my sharpeners for quite a while, and still using them. They are cheap but do the job, and when they wear out I plan on ordering another set of them....Thanks for watching!!
Oak?! Did I click on the correct video? ;)
Lol!!! ha ha I know!...Thanks for watching!!
i done similar signs to yours
Awesome!! you need to get you a channel going, its a lot of fun!!
You still make signs?
Yes, check out my about section for info...Thanks for watching!!
umm ok sure it looks good, but wheres the how-to part ?
Lol...Well I tried some programming videos a good while back and they just didn't take...now that i'm more seasoned at this video stuff I need to revisit it....
Beautiful sign, great work....but you need a grammar editor. Really need that apostrophe to look right.
lol.....Thank you and thanks for watching!!!
Not the name I would choose...
It's the name of their channel...I too remember the cult attached to this name....Thanks for watching!!
Customer is a Heavens Gate survivor, didn't like koolaid?
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
That was my first thought too! LOL!
Great video, but what's the point of showing several minutes of the actual carving? Seems like an unnecessary use of time to watch it.
Thats why I speed up the CNC side, most of these signs this size take over an hour.....Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Ah, this is the "cheating" channel.
Ummm....Huh???...I don't follow....Thanks for watching!!
Your sign looks Great! How much is a CNC machine like yours? What does that sign sell for? Thanks!
My CNC is a DIY, built it about 2 years ago, got around 3k-3.5k in it....the Heavens gate sign was around $150...Thank for watching!!!
