When I was alone an elderly woman who was half blind asked me if I liked banana pudding. I told her yes and next when she saw me she smiled and said this is for you. She had given me a large Pyrex bowl full of banana pudding. Then after that every once in a while she would say this is for you. Then one day she moved to a nursing home in another state and I never saw her again. She always talked about God and salvation. I will never forget her. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

That's a great idea. We were all talking about a substitute cookie Mrs. Evelyn and crushing the cookies you have left and topping the dish would be a really great idea. As a matter of fact, I think it would possibly be better than whole cookies on the top, they would absorb more of the pudding, maybe. I will admit though, the Chess cookies look so pretty on top in whole form. Mrs. Paula used Pepperidge Farm in her video but you could substitute with Lorna Doone or Walkers. Now, I've never heard of Walkers so I'm not sure if you can buy those in the grocery store or do you have to purchase online in a specialty shop. Here we can buy both Pepperidge Farm and Lorna Doone at the grocery store. I was thinking that the Pepperidge Farm Chess cookies looked really big but it stands to reason that when refrigerated for several hours, they get to a cake consistency, which sounds really good. That banana pudding and a cold glass of whole milk (not that 2% stuff) would be incredible. I mean, you are eating a rich decadent dessert, why not treat yourself to a glass of whole milk. OK, everyone enjoy, I love Mrs. Paula.

Mrs. Paula, would you do me a favor and everyone else out here and show us how to make homemade chicken and dumplings. You have taught me so much already and my mom made chicken and dumplings every once in a while and my mom passed away. I don't know where her recipe books went but I can't find any of them and I don't think this would have been on a recipe card anyway because she cooked all the time without a recipe. Your help would be greatly appreciated and know that you are loved by so many of us that watch your youtube videos. I find myself waiting on the next one in great anticipation. Thank you very much for teaching me how to cook. I have enjoyed every video and I'm learning so much. You will never know how much of a blessing you are to so many. I'm thankful that I get to watch as you prepare new dishes while teaching all of us at the same time. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. You truly are one special lady. OMG YES! My GRandma made her own homemade chicken and dumplings too and they were my absolute favorite! Unfortuantely, she lost her battle with colon cancer on July 26, 2012- 8 years coming up and haven't had her delicious cooking since. I also miss just talking to her, visiting her and spending time with her. She always knew what to say to make me feel better, and even make me laugh. She taught me how to make her yellow rice and chicken/pork and her chicken and dumplings too, but im not sure i rememeber all of the stuff used for her chicken and dumplings lol So, Paula's recipe I think would probably be pretty close to my GRandma's cause both are southern gals and cook very similarly and both prefer homemade over store bought.

Both times, I decreased the ingredients so that I wouldn't have a big dish like in the video, but it still came out fantastic. Also, it is much better when you put it in the fridge overnight so that the cookies get a little softer. Note, this time around, I cut two small TastyKake coffee cakes in half and put them at the bottom of the dish as a base. OMG! It's so good Y'all. LOL. Next month, I will try it to put the filling over a Keebler graham cracker pie crust. Peace.

@@okapmeinkap7311 Mrs. Paula used Pepperidge Farm in her video but you could substitute with Lorna Doone or Walkers. Now, I've never heard of Walkers so I'm not sure if you can buy those in the grocery store or do you have to purchase online in a specialty shop. Here we can buy both Pepperidge Farm and Lorna Doone. Paula.

This is how I was taught to make my Banana pudding", I don't like banana pudding itself too sweet, so using these ingredients vanilla pudding, sour cream and whipped cream calms it down and is so delicious, it's like eating zabaglione custard with out the eggs; but I always used the whipped cream due to time everyone loves it! I still used the Nilla Vanilla wafers, but I love the short bread cookies they don't go soggy as fast. eat it cold and so delicious you will not have a spoon left in the bowl! by the way you can use any fruit, strawberries, berries, etc.

Probably would take longer than the time frame she has set out for her videos. They seem to all be around 15 minutes or so. Reckon?

I've been making this recipe for at least 15 years since I first saw you make it. This is the BEST banana pudding and is the dessert my family always requests. So decadent! Glad to see you sharing these UA-cam videos!

I recommend making banana pudding in a plastic container. For some reason everytime I use a metal container the bananas brown much quicker.

Homemade custard is truly special, but for this particular recipe the sweetened condensed milk is essential to its success.

the cookies remind me so much of being small! My Mama used to buy those. I have to go pick some up and bring them to eat together next time we get together. Even better, eat the banana pudding! My first job was at Magnolia Bakery and I honestly couldn't LOOK at banana pudding for the longest time!!! hahaha but its been so many years and I am ready! it is always so nice to get the recipes from a small business or a friend. Thank you for sharing!!
