I absolutely LOVE how real your video's are. I really enjoyed your show but to be honest, I prefer these videos much more because the non scripted changes (dogs barking, wrong pot used, maybe 1 more T of flour), that's what happens to us when we're in the kitchen. THANK YOU & MUCH LOVE! 🥰

beat in order. Spoon into crust-baked or graham cracker.
Use reserved egg whites for merengue.

I never really watched your shows on tv when I was younger. Just never caught it but since maturing and coming on my 40th bday soon, I have tried to master my passion of cooking.
And I still don't watch a lot of "cooking shows", I just sort of learn as I go.
But I really enjoy watching your UA-cam channel.
It feels like a chat with an old friend while learning some great recipes.
I don't care about the negative publicity that came your way years ago, as I don't know the whole story.
But even someone who is mixed, like myself, don't really care NOW.
People change, grow, blossom and it seems you have!
I love your cooking "chats", your ability to laugh at mistakes, and still go with the flow! Like a regular ol' household kitchen filled with family and love! I can't afford to buy all your brand name stuff for cooking or your books but I'm glad there is something like this!
I love how you share a story as well almost every time! It's incredibly comforting in this time.
Keep doing what you do! (If you ever read these comments) Much love and blessings.

The chocolate filling is a lot easier to make in the microwave. Just mix it like she did but in a glass batter bowl. Microwave about 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes with the whisk to keep it smooth. (I prefer cornstarch to flour.) Once it is thickened, it is finished cooking--just add the vanilla and butter.

One day I was showing my daughter how to make a custard for a Banana pudding and having to stir constantly.
Later i got to wondering how I knew how to make a Banana pudding. Then I remembered my mother calling me in to "stir this Custard constantly and don't let it scorch, it burns easy". I loved Banana pudding so it was a lesson easy learned. When Mamma made meringue, like putting up corn, she wanted me "out of the way". Mamma had one special stainless bowl that fit her mixer just right that she made meringue and Divinity candy in. I was the "bowl lickker" for all occasions. Love your show.

Can you only imagine beating that by hand? I was just thinking how much harder it was back in the day! Even a great cook like you takes short cuts once in a while but unfortunately they didn't have that option. ❤️
I'm 58 and didn't know you could make chocolate pudding by scratch. (or maybe I did & forgot ) The moral of this text is... The more work you put into something the better.

When I do the meringue on top I usually take a spoon and make little almost mountain peaks with it it brings a really pretty design.

I made chocolate pudding with cornstarch instead of flour. The recipe was on the back of the box. I can't believe how good it was, and it was my first attempt at making homemade pudding. It didn't have any eggs, just cornstarch, milk, cocoa powder, some melted semi-sweet chocolate chunks for extra decadence, and vanilla. I didn't add any sugar, as the semi-sweet chocolate was just enough sweetness for me. The cornstarch was called Rapunzel. It's organic and non-gmo. If you try this recipe Paula, please let me know if you like it. I value your opinion, as you are indeed the queen of the cooking world.

This is one of my favorites so far in the Quarantine series...first, chocolate!...and then the fact that we see almost everything in real time, is so helpful! I might give up on the Swiss meringue before it got ready, but now I see what it takes. Love that! And truly I feel like a fly on the camera lens in your kitchen on any given day. No script, nothing too planned. You are at your best just like this, Paula! I'm about to go make a chocolate cream pie right now. 😋

This reminds me of my aunt's chocolate pie. She is the ONLY one that makes it the way she makes it and it is sinfully good. It is so good, that I am not ashamed to tell this. Back in May 2016 my youngest brother died at the age of 35. Well my aunt of course baked a chocolate pie among other things and brought to the house. My other brother and I would get the food out for people to eat that dropped in to visit. However, I asked my brother, since we were in his house...where can we hide this pie...so just he and I get it. He hid it good in the back of his fridge. I have no guilt at all hiding it and keeping it just for the 2 of us LOL and not letting anyone else know it existed. :)

Thanks for keeping it so real. I love your cooking style. Finger tasting good, just like mine. Also it was nice to see an improvised double boiler because I imagine that most people, myself included, don't use it often enough to have one. CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE THIS WITH A GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST.!!! Love you!!💐🎉

Shortbread cookie piecrusts are now available where you find the graham cracker piecrusts, and they are delicious. I think one of those would be perfect with the chocolate filling in Paula's pie, even better than with a graham cracker crust.

Paula... Do you have a recipe for SHRIMP SALAD? Either for sandwiches or just as an appetizer with crackers? When I was younger I loved Shrimp Salad sandwiches from Hilliard's but over the years I think they changed something.
And living here on Wilmington Island we should be able to get some fresh good tasting 🍤!! Thank you for sharing with us.....Alisa!
