How to swap your 1999-2002 silverado from V6 to V8 for under 1000$!

Nice ! Only thing I would of did different would be pressure washing the engine bay with over cleaner and degreaser .... lol I don’t want a guessing game trying to determine if my new motor is leaking or was that from the blown 6 cylinder

No need for the Holly pan just raised the motor high getting LSA blower and let it go through the hood moderntech old school look

I have a 95 c1500 with a 305 that I'm thinking will like a 5.3 and a 4l80. The 5.3 is one hell of a motor man.

I can't believe that the LS harness plugged right into the V6 harness. That is one of the things I was dreading on my swap.

@@210jaiminho hey bro I’m doing a Ls swap on my 01 Silverado did you have to put a electronic pedal on your truck? Or did you stick with drive by cable throttle body,because the engine I have is from a 05 and the harness has to hook up to the gas pedal

I swapped my 4.8l with a 5.3l and rebuilt the 4l60e in my 2003 1500. Now I’m doing bushings and steering box 😂 never ends!

LEFT4DEAD I even left them open and got rain water up to the top of the intake ports a couple times lol. Pulled plugs and threw the intake on it lol

Wonder if just taking the front end off would make it easier? Like the grill, radiator, fans, and cross bar deal? You could probably just pull motor and tran at the same time and be able to clean it all if ya wanted, and onbthe headers maybe take plastic out of wheel well an take tire off like you do changing spark plugs? . Idk though?
It takes little time to pull those front ends. I've done it several times harvesting salvage yard LS. An angle head impact like the Harbor Freight (the small head is why I leave my Milwaukee at home), and a more powerful conventional impact make short work of the job. BTW I always anti-seize body hardware before reinstalling. Pulling the fenders doesn't take long and is well worth it.
The V8 wiring harness will plug straight into the fuse. You will need new style fuel lines

I want to LS swap a 14-18... LT and 6L80 is garbage I want pre afm drivetrain.. basically putting a 99 to '06 drivetrain in a 14 to 18 would be great. even a LS3.... Even if the l86 makes more torque and similar power the LS is far superior reliability wise
I wish GM would’ve made a standard cab, standard bed base model Silverdildo with a 6.0 and 4L80 or T56 Super Magnum and heavy duty diff, It would save alot of time and hassle for alot of people
Hope that compression fitting holds up on that fuel rail, there aint a whole lot there to hold onto. Id just done a quick connect 6an fitting and ran a short 6an hose. Other than that looks pretty good

I tell you man, these shops really be getting over on people as far as labor goes trying to charge like $4k for labor.I hope This Covid19 really humbled them up and come back to reality
I do work on other peoples vehicles as well. If all the parts are brought to me I typically do this exact swap for around 1000$!
4k on labor is a lot for an engine swap. Getting a 6.0 done on my 03 and it under 1k with install and cam install, including base tune
Get 2 hoods take one of the hoods and section it could you do make the bumper the center taller or at a second bump in the center of the hood section tighter together
It's an old hot rodders trick
This will give you a customer Hood that nobody else has

Can of Berliner’s cheap wire brush on grinder or drill cheap harbor freight junk special for this type of project of cleaning rust fast and easy
Hey man love the channel and the dope content your putting out. What are the best bolt on performance mods for a stock 5.3? I have an 04 Tahoe that I want to get some more giddy up. My current mods are 1) Stickers=50hp 2) Porter stock truck manifold and Tb by Chuy454 3) Corvette Servo 4) mail in tune from Blackbear performance. So what do you recommend to add some more

Did I miss something in the video? I thought you had to match the frame rail mounts with the style suspension in the swapped truck , can I use the frame mounts from the torsion bar 2wd suburban on my 2wd non torsion bar Silverado ?

Did you have any problems using those engine frame mounts out of a 4x4 truck to work on your 2wd? I’ve been told they won’t work but your video says otherwise lol
Alec Maxwell don’t grab 4wd truck mounts. Gotta be 2wd I learned the hard way and had to go back

The harness didnt match the engine? Is that why the injector plugs were different?
The exhaust bolts on mine were ridiculous
if you ever pull the heads bring them to my house if the bolt is broken shallow, i'll get it out with the welder

is that common for the neutral safety switch to have glue from the factory? I have the same situation with a 4l80e... thought i had to get a new pigtail

Hey after you have the new motor installed, you talk about needing somebody with a computer to come delete the fats or cats, not sure what that means. You said you need them deleted before you can drive it. What does that mean

Not quite as those are vortec platform, assuming you have a 4.3 but it isn't too difficult to pull off...mainly it's a fitment issue.

Have to change oil pan, special swap mounts, relocate ps pump, notch frame for ac comp, its a little different in a s10 or blazer

You should taken care of those bolts. You have to be leaking exhaust
Camp TheChamp Dorman makes brackets to hold broken bolts on. I may do that or just leave it. This motor was only put in to show the cheapest way. I’ve got a forged 6.0 ready for when this thing goes

Doing a swap on my 02 Silverado, anyone know if a can just use the 5.3 flex plate with the v6 torque converter and transmission? Some people say that I need some sort of spacer but I’m not sure

And i have a 2005, 4.3, 2wd 2dr im looking on swapping. What 5.3 should i he scouting in the junkyard ? Truck and year wise? Also, will it need the VATS? my truck now has nothing. Completely base model . And i have a blackbear tuned pcm from another 2004 Sierra. Could i use that too?
Have VATS deleted and rear oxygen sensors deleted when you have yours flashed. Do some heavy reading on forums. UA-cam is for "watching", forums are for "reading".
