I really like your idea of drilling out those holes for the motor mount bolts.
All you gatta do is use a long xtention
Same
@@jresquivel4499 how long and 6 or 12 point
you take a 10” extension, a 3” extension, a universal, the socket, and a ratchet, all 3/8” drive. You can fit all that up through the frame between the frame and lower control arm bushing. It does take a little maneuvering but once you get it on the backing nut, loosen the mounting bolts and bam. I changed mine in 15 minutes a piece. Hope this helps out!
Hey mane u do a 6 or a 12
I have an 07 silverado that came stock with a 4.8 in it and I love it. Pretty cool seeing the modern motor in the 91
Could you do a parts list of what you bought to do the swap man ? Enjoyed the video I’m working on my 91 and plan on doing a 6.2 swap on it
I have a 93 3/4 ton long bed that I want to do an LS swap on. You make it look so easy.
Nice job!!!!
Great job
To get to the motor Mounts you need a long wrench with a swivel end. Harbor Freight has it on the icon brand.
How long
@@wildestcowboy2668 i believe mine is 16"
@@k.lamareyev4418 well all I have is two 6" and a swivel.......1/2 inch
Cool 👍
Try a fan shroud for a 4.3 obs they are quite larger should cover the fan and make a good air tunnel
It’s a good idea but I took measurements of one at the junk yard and it’s a little to long wouldn’t work for my application
@@EliteDiesel01 use a saws all Paul
Good afternoon young man. can you send the measurements of this tool in which you took the engine out of the pickup and the measure of the material you used to build it, thank you in advance for your attention.
Hey did u use an f body oil pan or did u use the stock truck pan on the swap also I’m asking bc some one told me that the stock truck pan might hit my front diff it’s just has a body kit on it the. Diff is in the same location thanks
What size holes did you drill those holes to?
Hi. I have a question. I bought dirty dingo engine mounts and started a TBI swap to a 2002 5.3 vortec in my 95 GMT 400 Suburban. During assembly, it turns out that the two rear cylinders are hitting the bulkhead and the air conditioning compressor is sitting on the frame and I am a few inches short of connecting the engine to the gearbox. What did I do wrong or do you have any advice? thank you in advance 😊
I need ur help bro do I need the computer that came with the 5.3 I have a new one swap harness but this swap seems very confusing what did u do to wire up ur gauges and did u use a new gas pedal 😊
you could get an extention and a wobble socket for the motor mount nuts. drilling extra holes in the chassis will compromise the rigidity of the frame.
also. you can use fingernail polish as a locktite alternative. I have used it on gun scope mounts and various engines from weed eaters to tractors
You can’t tho. That’s the whole reason I even drilled the holes and said something about it. You have to drop the entire front suspension to even access the motor mount nuts even with swivels, wobble sockets, etc.. Also I’ll have to respectfully disagree with you on the “drilling extra holes in the chassis will compromise the rigidity of the frame” when I drilled into the engine crossmember that is boxed in and welded to the frame which is also boxed in. Now if the frame wasn’t boxed in then yes I’d agree that drilling holes could weaken the integrity of the frame and cause it to crack especially if you’d be towing or putting high HP engine in the truck or anything else that would cause stress on the frame in that area. And as for nail polish being an alternative as lock tight that’s a cool idea for what you mentioned it for as a low torque application but as for something that spins and moves extremely fast unless there is lots of extreme tests that prove that nail polish could keep a bolt from backing out or coming loose better or the same as lock tight on high torque applications I wouldn’t risk the safety factors using it on anything automotive related.
How did you do the harness?
Well definitely not one day , so I'd change that title. Lol
Well I definitely don’t care about your opinion, so I’d change that comment. Lmao
Had that same issue with my flywheel so I bored the holes and drove it a few months then it sent me a code that says it don’t match. I ignored it and my motor shut down so now I’m installing a 4L80E and going 2 wheel drive.
When you say it sent a code saying it don’t match do you mean the ecm wasn’t recognizing the transmission and popping a code and shutting down the engine. Because If so you have to tune the ecm for whatever your swap is. For example mine was a 5.3 with a 4l60e factory and I swapped out the 4l60e for a 700r4 non-electric so in the tune I changed it from 4l60e to non-electric transmission. I used HPTuners
@@EliteDiesel01 yes I shut my engine down and my 1,2 shift solenoid and another solenoid broke so maybe it’s just the solenoids and just delete the code is all I need to do
How you did your fuel ? Factory pump ? Did the ls intake fuel rails mate up to your old ones bro ?
I pulled the factory pump out and installed a bigger pump and also replaced the factory fuel filter with a 2000 model 5.3 fuel filter bolts right up to factory lines. I then ran rubber high pressure fuel line up to the fuel rails on the 5.3.
Did you need to do a VATS delete?
How do I get ahold of you I got a 93 I wanna do this to and have some questions
The motor mounts are a nightmare on the 4x4 as well.......
What fly wheel use?
Mount u used
I dig the hat. DJT 2024!
What ended up being the issue with it not running right? Working on an LS swap on my 93 Blazer. Sweet truck though, I had a step side 88 for my first truck and I remember those weird fill in instrument cluster gauges.
I wasn’t getting a good connection on the positive wire for the fuel pump relay. Runs great now.
My truck 🥲🖤
Who puts mud grips on a 2wd had me fooled thought it was 4wd😂😂
Did you replace motor mounts with oem for obs ?
OEM motor mounts for the 91
Great video , what was involved with the wiring ? Can you please make a video explaining it
I believe it’s LT1swap.com that has very descriptive pin out sheets and videos going over how to build the harness
Using a intake pump or external pump for your build
It’s a in tank pump with a external fuel pressure regulator mounted on the frame rail.
DIbs on Old TBI engine mine just started making noises.
can you call dibs on something over a month after it happened
@@trashbandit2449 Can u crap in a toilet that already has been crapped in?
How did you get the transmission to function right with it being a 1991 tbi with 4L60E jw thinking of doing same swap on my 95
Did you figure out? I’m stuck on the same spot
Everyone I ask to do this says it won’t work cause truck is obd 1 and engines obd 2 I think that’s what he said and idk why you can’t change that too
U can largen the wholes on the fly wheel
I drilled the holes out bigger and then welded the top side the holes closed so the bolts would fit in without play.
How did you remove stock harness without removing wiring 4 the ac blower
I removed the stock harness and took out every wire that went to the stock computer and then reinstalled the stock harness and then integrated the stock harness with the new harness
So u cut new ac wires and old ones and twisted em together basically
I liked for the hat
How are you running an old single piece 4l60 to this 5.3?
Could be a 700r4 tranny. That might be why he mentioned needing another intake in order to connect the kickdown cable
@@realWideOpenThrottle thank you!
How's the stock transmission holding up
So far just fine but if it does let go we will be converting to a 4l80e.
What all did you have to do for transmission to shift right with the ls
What you do for exhaust?
The factory 90s truck exhaust. I just cut the 5.7 flanges off were they meet the exhaust manifolds and welded the 5.3 flanges on and it bolted right up to the 5.3 exhaust manifolds.
Did you have to reflash the pcm to remove the vats and other unnecessary stuff
Yes
I'm curious about how u used your belt driven fan need some information if possible don't want to switch to electric fans 🤔
It’s Just the stock one that came on the 5.3. Fit just fine with the stock truck shroud. Mine does stick outside the shroud 1” and I could slide the motor forward to fix that problem but I didn’t want to have to deal with the drive shaft and transmission mount not lining up. So I just set the 5.3 in the same location as the 5.7. The 5.3 block is 1” shorter than the 5.7 block. Im currently looking for a 1” adaptor to possible screw on between the fan clutch and pulley but so far I have no problems with the temperature.
Nice job, can I get that hat
I’ll sell you mine I got an 89 mint af ngl
Why wouldn’t you wash that engine bay before you swapped the engine??.
Well this is a 30 year old beater that is just getting a little more modern used engine. Nothing special. It’s not meant to look good. It’s not a show truck. And with it being 30 years old there’s no paint on the frame just 30 years of dirt, oil grime and crude that’s protecting the bare metal from rusting. So if I cleaned it off then the frame would just look rusty. And the only way to fix that would be to sand it down and paint it. But then it would look stupid because half the frame is painted and half of it isn’t. So then you feel like you need to do the whole frame. Now you have a whole project that’s going to take months to complete. I don’t have months of free time to take on such a project for a truck that doesn’t need the extra attention. Especially for a junk yard motor that’s probably going to start leaking after awhile on that clean engine bay I just spruced up. Not everything needs to be polished up. Some people like the look of age. Nothing wrong with that. Plus this isn’t my truck. Now if it was mine then yes I would like to have a clean engine bay. I don’t like the look of oil, dirt, and grime. But as long as the person who is asking me to do the work is happy and I’m getting paid then I’ll do whatever is necessary.
Why go from a 5.7. Down to a 5.3
race car
A 5.7l stock tbi motor for the chevy silverado 88-98 series is great if you want to leave everything stock and only want 180-220 horsepower. A newer 5.3l motor has a higher horsepower rating at around 300 or so. It is also more fuel efficient, precise, and lightweight.
Down to a 5.3? … 5.3 is a way better engine
How much to do an ls swap? .btw badass truck man
Anywhere from 500 to 2000 to get the motor in and running
anywhere from making a profit to spending infinite money on it
You can’t just cut off the bolts sir
What bolts are you referring to.
Can I get that hat bro…
if you call that a one-day swap I did mine in 2 hours
Wow now that’s what I call service. In and out in 2 hours. I hope you have a shop You would make a killing at these swaps.
Having the knowledge of what ur about to do and have the proper tools and parts it can be done in one day. It was just an engine swap. You put up a video and see how fast you think you can do it, prove your B.S. comment.
@@perifera1 who are you commenting towards?
@@EliteDiesel01 James guy talking smack
@@perifera1 oh ok thanks for the support.
its not a one day swap, one-day swap means runs and drives
Yeah I googled one-day swap and it didn’t say anything about runs and drives. Just exchanging one thing for another in one day which is what I did. I drove it in and exchanged the 5.7 TBI engine for the 5.3 and had it running in the truck in one day so.
Another stupid remark , Prove your self post a video. Would love to see that NO Friends help just you and ur comments
