Just heads up the hoods come open more just undo hinge bolts on hood side and reset at higher mount point
I dig your channel man! I love the small, grassroots style channels. Keep it real brother!
Appreciate it thanks for watching.
I did a LS swap on my 2000 Chevy installed a 5.3 I have good spark and fuel it cranks but doesn’t run now I’m lost
Did you get the vats take of the computer?
No can I use just a regular scanner or does that have to be done by a tuner
i love the 5.3's in a short bed ... that truck looked good with the black wheels
Thank you. Definitely my favorite single cab short bed. I kept the wheels for me next project to come. Wouldn't believe but single cab short bed aswell.
That's lleniasa last truck with them two who knows who them two work for now
Nice job as always man!
Thank you appreciate the support
Great Video buddy!
Appreciate it. Thank you
Thanks
Cool thx bro will I have to get it tuned still
Just with the v6 to v8 you will need the vats deleted at least. The vehicle anti theft will prevent it from starting.
Your a boss Idk whos but a boss nuntheless
Nice you make it look easy. Just a few questions, you just need the whole engine harness for the swap? Or you need the ecu too from the donor truck? Is the engine fuse relay box the same for both engines v6 and v8?
I got a 99 2D Silverado short bed, stock was an v8 and 4.8 and last owner swapped an v6 4.3L. And I want to swap it again to a v8
Best way is find a v8 that's the same year. Need the engine harness and the computer and the frame mounts the engine mounts bolt to. V8 computer will need to get tuned to take the security of then its pretty much bolt in. Even the v6 exhaust is the same. Harness will just plug in to the factory fuse box if it's the same year.
Hello man good video I’m doing a LS swap from. a 2001 to a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 am taking the wire harness from donor truck 2001 so I need to take computer also
It's easier if you do. That way the pin outs will be correct for the harness
It's cool man.
Thank you
I’m in the process of doing this. I have 2004 4.3 5 speed 4x4 truck. I’m using the motor out of a 03 Tahoe. Will the fuse box be the same? Or do I need to check it since I’m going from drive by cable to drive by wire? Also will I have to change fuel pump and are the fuel lines the same? Thanks in advance
If there both drive by wire or cable generally there the same and should just bolt in. If your charging to wire you will need the pedal and the module. Fuel lines you can takfrom the Tahoe or you can buy the quick connect fitting on ebay or run a rudder line with a couple of hose clamps.
Fuel pump and exhaust will be fine. V6 and v8 exhaust are the same flange
hey i’m doing a swap from a 99 w a 5.3 to a 01 v6 .. harness should bolt right up?
I believe it should. I don't think they changed the harness till 2003. But would have to double check the plug ends
GMT-800 just sounds so much cooler than nbs
The 5.3 is awesome but I’m having trouble with my swap I put a 5.3 in my nbs Silverado and every time you use any type of throttle it bogs down
What have you tried to find the problem?
@@choppedinc. I solved the issue it was with the tune because I have a manual transmission and they did not tune it for that
@@user-cl5gl2qo9nwhat harness did you use with having a manual transmission? Did you use a 4.8/6.0 manual harness? I know they didn't make a 5.3 with a manual from factory
@@nickblack562 I used a harness that had a 4l60 transmission I just looped the wires to the neutral safety harness to make the starter work and for the transmission if you use a manual transmission you want to tune it to non electric automatic transmission because when you set it to manul transmission it makes it not rev over 1500 rpm for some reason
Hey man, I’m trying to get a 06 5.3 running, it was a v6. I’m running a 99-02 harness on it to keep it dbc but everytime we give it power the starter goes nuts. Any ideas on what could be wrong
I would double check the pin outs and see what's different from the early to late harness
Have you ever done this swap with a manual trans?
Yes I have a video of it on here
Why did single cabs become so expensive?
There little hotrod trucks. Best weight and depending one what side of the fence you sit, a better cab to bed ratio for looks
😎
So did you use the fuse box and harness from the v8 just plug and play ? The conector are the same with the v6?
It's mostly just plug and play
Wassup bro I have a 2001 single cab Silverado like urs manual windows power locks v6 , I want to do v8 conversion could you tell me all I’ll need for the conversion I’ve been asking local shops but there lagging it
Best way to do it is find a engine from the same year truck and get the complete wiring harness. It will then plug in to your existing wire no cutting. If it's a automatic you can use the v6 transmission. You will need to get the v8 computer tune. Remove all the vats, vehicles anti theft stuff and any other tuning you need. The v6 exhaust will also work. It's a very straight forward swap. Make sure you get the v8 with the engine mounts and the bits that bolt to the frame. There is 2 long bolts that run through the bit in the frame. And there is a difference between the 2wd and 4wd ones, so make sure you get the ones for your application.
I thought the torque converter bolt pattern was different?
I put the complete motor and transmission in from the v8.
When can you come to California so we can do my truck!
😆 what part of California are you?
What part of Oklahoma you in
I actually live in Montana but I did the swap in texas.
So it turn right on with no mods or tune?
Yes. All you're really doing is swapping ls for ls in these nbs Chevys. However, I would recommend getting your 4.8 computer tuned before starting because it doesn't recognize 5.3/6.0/etc.
Have to get the vats turned of is the only mod needed for the computer
I am doing my truck what did you do for fuel lines installation
Depending on the swap you can use the donor truck or just run some high pressure fuel line.
How long did it take to swap out?
If you have all the parts you can do it in a weekend no problem.
Tuviste que cambiar la caja de fusibles o dejaste la que traía?
Se deja la que tenia nomas le vienes conectado el harness del v8 es igual
Hey man how’s it going! I’m doing the same swap from a suburban as well now I have to connectors that are DIFFERNT near the fuse box did you run into that issue
No I did same year and the just plugged in
Same fuse box or swap that to
Can use the same fuse box as long as it's the same year engine
I have the v6 5 speed will that work on a 5.3
Yes it will. Just order the parts like it's a 1500 with a 4.8 ls and a manual transmission.
How are your grounds connected bro?
Same as factory. Not sure what ones you are talking about specifically
How do you tune the computer?
There is normally someone in your are on face book that can do it. Just need the vats removed as a minimum.
Can you plug and play swap a 2002 5.3 for a 2004 5.3?
If there both drive by wire I think you can. Could compare fuse boxes to double check
Thank you!!
Are you Australian?
Yes I am from Australia originally
Hahaha. I didnt want to ask that. But was curious.
