Yeah sometimes I wonder that too I was told my fertility was too low to get pregnant but sometimes women get pregnant when they re marry because if you find someone stable with money sometimes they have better genes and healthier sperm. My mom did this to me too she ripped me off of my grandmother's inheritance and she told me I had to live with her forever to get my half I didn't see that as a good deal. A lady is currently being sued by her deceased ex-boyfriend brothers over a million dollar pension that he left behind after he passed away. Mind you, she was completely clueless that she was left any money after 20 years, and she was never married to him.
They dated for years, broke up, and married other people. Twenty plus years later, he died but never took the ex-girlfriend name off as a beneficiary, so legally, she is the only person entitled to the money. His brothers are upset that their brother remarried but never took the time or made it a priority to put everything in his wife name after being married to her for over 20 years. They're fighting the ex-girlfriend from 20 years ago because they want a piece of the pie.
I'm guessing his wife assumed that he prioritized his family and personal affairs, but apparently he didn't.
This is why I agree with the lady in white. As a spouse, 1 or 2nd, affair partner or no, do not be afraid to get things in order. Better yet, before you walk down the aisle or bring kids in please please please make sure all beneficiaries are correct and that your family will be provided for.

I think there may be an overlooked aspect to this. If they never had kids but were trying over those 20 years (probably not the whole time), did bruh wonder or suspect that he wasn't the father of "his" kid? I mean, if he really wanted a child, no amount of guilt would have allowed him to completely leave the baby out. This seemed to be a way to make amends with the ex, but to also stick it to the wife. In most states, it is impossible to totally disinherit your spouse in a will.
Spouses have a right of election, and can claim a certain fraction of the estate as their elective share, no matter what the will says.

I'm still the beneficiary for my ex-husband. If he goes, I get everything. I also got all of the heartache while he cheated and created a baby on me. Well, as someone who has worked with some trusts (QPRT, Dynasty, Grantor, Charitable, etc.) it's important to make the distinction between the trustee and the beneficiary. The trustee can only use the assets of the trust in ways that benefit the beneficiary (as redundant as it sounds). For example, a trustee can authorize funds to be deposited into the beneficiary's account, a trustee can authorize money to be invested to earn money for the beneficiary, but a trustee can't take money out of the trust for themselves. Maybe the trust pays some fees to the lawyer for acting as trustee, but even then, it would have to be reasonable.
So I don't know, could someone explain to me why a lawyer would kill a client who has made him/her a trustee, and how the lawyer would manage to transfer the trust's assets to him/herself and not the beneficiary?

Lots of great advice and input here. Personally I'd consider certain factors like how much money the widow already has or how kind of a person she is (if there's any way to know). I'd rather give money to people I know right now who are struggling than to a stranger who may not even need it, could have a spending problem, etc. The child should probably get some, but it's ok if she keeps all the money.

A man in my city married a women & they got divorced 6 mos later. He married a new women & was married for 30 years but never changed his work pension beneficiary. When he died ex wife got millions & they have been in court for 3 years because of it. I doubt he wanted to leave his pension to his ex. He just never bothered to see it was changed cause his job did it automatically the 1st time.

She said they were together 20 years but had not ne able to conceive, she however was able to conceive with another man but once he got with the sidey he was cheating with she gets pregnant? That man got to thinking and it wouldn't be far fetched that he took he's own life after realizing the gravity of everything. He felt betrayed by the sidey turned wife , so he decided to hit her where it would hurt as the last ditch effort to make things right with he's ex , and seek revenge on the wife.

There is more to this story than meets the eye. The man is not telling the full story. I believe the ex should keep the money because the man knew what he was doing.
She has no obligation to his family. It is her money and the fact that they are trying to force her, sue her (his brothers) and guilt her into giving them the money is all the more reason why she should make sure they do not get a single penny.

I think they should pause the money. If the baby is his (DNA proved) then it would be nice for the lady to put some money in an account for the baby that I release to them on a particular bday. Actually if the baby is proven his then there is another avenue, but the money will be just the child's. The mother has no say on the money. He left it to the ex, so you have to accept it. I have a feeling that he knew the baby wasn't his.
