I really wish I’d known this much earlier. I’m 75 years old now and I had surgical menopause at the age of 21. Back then everything about a woman was hush-hush. My first marriage disintegrated because I couldn’t stand sex it was painful I constantly thought I had a yeast infection when really I was just vaginally dry. I had terrible hot flashes and mood swings I had the worst menopausal problems you can imagine. I was holding down a very demanding job and studying for a PhD at age 60 and had a very low bone density so I went to see my doctor who said he would not put me on HRT because he couldn’t ethically be responsible if I got cancer. I didn’t discover bio identical Hormone’s until I was 65 so now I’ve been on them for 10 years and using vaginal estriol cream but not as often as I should . But now I realise that I must as I got married at 73 and for the first time sex does not hurt thank you for this video I’ve sent it onto my daughter.
Sex became very painful by 50. My GP said I was “dryer than many 70 year olds”. I use Premarin estrogen cream and have a happy and healthy sex life. I’m 74 and hubby is 80!
Congratulations!!!! Looking forward to it sex is very important for a healthy happy marriage. We are in our 50's and we really would like to continue this happy way of life. So glad to read a happy couple🎉
Thank you! I’m in the Uk 🇬🇧 50 years old and couldn’t work out why everything down below had disappeared! I don’t recognise my own body. I have zero libido, Vaginal atrophy. My bladder leaks, I’ve had pain on urination for a month now. Urgency, pain so I’ve barely left the house. I feel I’ve lost my identity all because of my vulva changes. I can’t even feel my labia manora. Why does nobody tell us about this? It should be part of our education at school level. I’ve learned so much in 20 minutes. ♥️
Lord Jesus, please touch this child of yours and give her the relief she desires, help her find a provider who will treat her condition and help restore her female health. Help her in Jesus name Amen
May I ask you a totally inappropriate question that is none of my business? 😀 Are you by chance married? If so, I have advise for your husband. Sorry for the strange question.
You aren't alone. Women don't talk about this because our mothers sure didn't! They didn't know what to do. So SAD! I want to learn everything I can so I can help others and point them in the right direction for a happy solution.
Omg, this is such good information, THANK YOU. I’m so happy that I have found some fabulous physicians on social media who are spreading the word about hrt. I’ve been taking vag cream for about a month (55 years old, peri still) and even with thorough education about it from my nurse practitioner, I learned even more.
This is a really really great overview. I'm an Admin for a support group that focuses on this subject, and this is one of the best and fairly concise overviews I've seen. Thank you Dr. Casperson - I'll be sharing this far and wide.
Cindy, you are not kidding! Wow! I think every gynecologist and urogynecologist need to watch this video! They could learn a thing or two or three or four! Jam-packed with incredibly helpful info!
So much valuable info. I had went through menopause without realizing it & was not sexually active for 5 years. By the time I was, I was 52 & had awful painful sex. My dr should’ve recommended vaginal estrogen. Sadly, he did not. So now I have such bad atrophy. Hope this this be reversed.
I wish I would have found you a year ago. This is hands-down the most information on vaginal atrophy I have heard....and with numerous UTI's and pain I am so thankful you made this for those of us suffering......BRAVO....Thank you a million times over♥️
Thank you… so glad I found you on here. I’m off to see my doctor tomorrow! Although I’m gutted as I’m one of those women you mentioned who has reached her mid 60’s, found the love of my life but sex is so painful. I hope and pray it’s not too late for me 🙏
I found this podcast from a recommendation in a fb support group and it has saved my peace of mind, and possibly my marriage. I just started experiencing vaginal atrophy this year and thought my sex life was over. Menopause has left me feeling so broken, old and used up. Thank you so much for straightforward, clear and no nonsense information. I have just been given a rx for vaginal estrogen but when I read the medication insert I was scared out if my mind. I am so grateful to have found someone who understands where I am in life and can provide information to help me navigate this next stage. Thank you. Thank you.
Oh my you are a goddess! I just started the hormone cream and you've answered soooo many questions! I'm 76 and I wish id been told this 10 yrs ago. Thank you!
Im just trying to fathom out what i was prescribed rhia week. I live in Spain so i wasnt 100% sure I understood everything. However, Im so glad Im here as I was given 3 tubes and totally free of charge.
Best ever information I have come across. Wish I had found you five yrs ago, you make such good sense, very informative, wish the doctors knew this, I'm in the uk. And I ask myself why womens health is still not a priority. In the 80s, and I am not joking after trying different birth control options that didn't work, my doctor joked that I should try celibacy! In my early 60s, I have had so many uti's and the only information for that was antibiotics. I thought that my sex life had come to an end. Recurrent utis just stops one from having sex as it makes one nervous that you will get a uti. Thank you for such information as it makes sense. Thank you for making womens lives better. I hope this information will spread and hope it won't take another ten yrs to get to the local doctor as they are decades from knowing this
Question - if vaginal cream is not systemic why do people complain about their boobs getting sore and their mood being affected? That’s the thing that does not make sense to me. Thank you.
Thank you for a very informative video, because at the age of 71 I really was not very educated on this topic. I had a complete Hysterectomy when I was 29. Two months ago got diagnosed with Vaginal Atrophy and Vulva Lichen Sclerosis (LS) from my new GYN doctor. I am now at the point where I am on the maintenance doses of Estradiol Vaginal Cream twice a week and Clobetasol twice a week for the LS. This will be my maintenance routine for the rest of my life. I am okay with this if it will keep my vulva and vagina safe and healthy. I wish I had been put on the Vaginal Cream earlier to help with the dryness.
Thank you so much, I now understand so much about getting my vagina healthy and keeping it healthy and functional for sex at age 53. I have been suffereing with so many symptoms and doctors did not tell me any of this education. You are an angel!
The health initiative scared me off when I was given a choice 15 years ago... I regret that now But its never too late right? Thanks so much for all this valuable information... I am so grateful ☀️
Oh wow! I felt like you were talking about me n my virgina! I had all the above mentioned in my late 50s and I didn't know about hrt/ vaginal atrophy etc. It wasn't until I was 62 that I went to my GP and told her all about my symptoms. She said menopause is like a dog with a broken leg and it need to be fixed! I'm now on hrt and I have used vagiraux for viginal atrophy it's fantastic I'm starting to feel like myself again. That is cutting a long story short. Thankyou I love you!! Ps ladies do not suffer I. Silence as I did. The more we share and talk about our experiences the more the world is listening and helping. Xxx
So much great information. I cannot believe I am so ignorant on this topic. Any woman in her forties seen by a GP should be made aware. Thank you so much.
You’re not ignorant…uninformed because our doctors are not well-educated on Menopause…sadly. Plus, they are scared of being sued due to that criminal WHI “study”.
I just turned 63 years old I was put on the vaginal cream hormone replacement cream I guess that’s what it’s called I was so dry before I was put on it but now I feel so good down there it doesn’t hurt no more and I wish I would’ve known about this a little bit younger in my life Sex wouldn’t have been so hurt but God bless doctors like you to explain it to women like me
Thank god for you Dr Kelly. I am perimenopausal aged 52 and I got my cream today. Was prescribed it as I am just a bit dry and maybe itchy. I had NO idea - and I reckon I am quite good on my perimenopausal journey/medication. I am so sad - to be ageing, the thought of some of my sexual organs literally going away due to lack of oestrogen is mind boggling, and these are the bits that protect my urethra. It is making my eyes sting. UTI's kill women. It is an absolute scandal that we don't know this stuff. Thank goodness for you. I will be buying & applying this cream for the next 30+ years - AND I am still going to be enjoying sex with my husband! I am watching this 3 years after you published it, I wonder if there are any updates on the decreased incidence of CVD in women using vaginal oestrogen as yet?
Your videos are so informative. I am 55 years old almost 5 years post menaupose. Suffering from recurrent UTI since last 6 months. Was treated by lots of physicians with antibiotics. Lastly visited a gynaecologist on Urologist advice. She has prescribed me with vaginal estrogen cream. Hope this medication will improve my postmenauposal recurrent UTI related issues.
I’m 56 and visited my doctor last month due to pain during sex. I wish I saw this video before my visit as I’m now on VagiFem, however I now know what to ask for, should this not work for me. I really wanted the ring, however insurance didn’t care as much about my vagina, so here we are. I was very happy to hear about all the added benefits for using local estrogen. AND LADIES - why do we not talk about these things more? My mother didn’t share anything with me about menopause or the aftermath. I have a daughter and arm her with all the details to prepare her for what’s ahead. She can be proactive and hopefully avoid some of the issues that come during this time. Thanks for the video - appreciate you!
Hello fellow menopausal lady, I have started speaking with my daughter about it. I’m most definitely having the talk about HRT and her future. It is up to us others, sisters, friends, to,pass the word.
You are so fantastic, straight to the point and understanding of the awful symptoms of menopause. Your the best, every town in every country needs you. THANK YOU, very grateful 62yrs old.
This video is SUUUPER helpful! I'm a 37 y/o breast cancer survivor on Tamoxifen which has put me into early menopause many years before my time (yay.....). My fiance and I have not been able to be intimate for almost a year because it is SO painful. I only recently found out that topical estrogen could help reverse the damage caused by Tamoxifen and feel like my sex life could be saved!! My OB approved the estrogen and I picked up my first tube today... Can't wait to get started! And thank you for the tips on the application. Totally makes sense to apply it to the outer areas that need it most. I had been having unexplainable UTI-like symptoms but my urine cultures came back normal and nobody ever told me low estrogen could be the culprit!
Same here!!! And the worse part, doctors won’t tell you the simple truth, it’s estrogen deficiency! Not just a Uti. Get some estrogen in you. My urologist just looked at me confused and said you want OAB medication? Nooooooo, I want actual relief addressing the problem not the symptoms.
I am in Australia, I had Breast Cancer 12 years ago and had mastectomy, Chemo and hormone blocking meds, I started to have trouble with peeing at least 3/times a night finally my Gyno suggested Estro cream and it solved my problem she wasn’t worried about the hormone treatments with my history !
I LOVE THIS VID..how come nobody tells you about this when your younger.its only ever the word menopause that is mentioned. There is so much more to end of periods. Thank you xx
thank you, thank you,.Kelly,i have followed you for awhile and I SO appreciate all fo your information.thank YOU so very much sharing all you know about us females
This is a wonderful video…I keep coming back to it. Have been using the Estring internally and Estrace externally. Sadly my insurance will no longer cover the ring and $550 is a lot every 3 months. I wish I had been more proactive. Only 57 and 4-5 years post menopause but have significant atrophy. So ladies I definitely agree to start looking into this at 50 and/or peri-menopause!! I’ve been telling all my friends. :) Thankfully 5 months of treatment and I’m feeling improvement.
I just learned amazing information! Thank you!! Why don’t all OBGYN doctors give informative information like this??! I absolutely LOVE how you explained “Everything “! You have really and truly taught me a lot!! Thank you!!
54 & atrophy & UTI’s-all the things- my dr prescribed me Estradiol today but didn’t tell me how often to use it. is it daily? or a cpl times a wk? daily for a wk then bck dwn to the cpl times a wk?
So you use 1 gram every night for 2 weeks then .5 gram twice a week - that’s what my Dr told me - speak with your Dr - I use a small pea size amount now and then on that skin - you’ll be so relieved
I’m so happy I found you! Love the way you are so direct and clear. I’m 53 and feeling things changing. Vaginal estrogen is on the agenda for my next visit to the OB/GYN.
So much information. This was posted on a FB page I joined to learn more about the issue. Thank you so much for going in to such detail. A few days ago, I'd never heard of this condition, but I was in a lot of pain. Wish more people would talk about it & more doctors were informed. My primary care provider had no idea what was wrong with me & treated me for a yeast infection. Thank you again. I will follow all your videos.
Thank you best video! Full of information and also answered a lot of questions. My gyn dr prescribed estrogen cream but I was lax using it. Then I got a brutal chronic uti. You will have to pry my cream out of my cold dead hands. Thank you again for taking the time to put this information out there. Ladies, listen and start using your estrogen cream now!
I’m so thankful I came across your videos; you help me so much with understanding estrogen and the menopausal stage. I no longer feel like something’s wrong with me and that means everything, so thank you thank you ❤
Thank you very much love the way you explain things it makes it so easy to understand. I am 58 had a total history at the age of 28 and have no ovaries, I have had so many problems weight gain, mental health, crazy moments no sex drive hot flashes you name it and I'm only just starting HRT. I have just started on estrdiol progesterone tablet combination and now cannot wait to get onto estrdiol cream for the vagina.
Seeing my gyn tomorrow to discuss making changes to my hrt. Last month I experienced the worse bladder discomfort ever! Totally going to add this to my list of things to talk about!
Thank you for your honesty and your clarity and presenting this information because many of us are in the dark and our next generation needs to come out of that dark place.
Thank you for this information. My concern was using estradiol cream without progesterone. My Obgyn prescribed me estradiol cream last year but I was afraid of cancer so I didn't use it but this year I decided I needed it because of vaginal atrophy. I picked up the cream last week but haven't used it. After listening to this information I feel confident to start using it today. Thank you so much ❤
@@Mmm...yummymummyI wish I'd started using the vaginal estradiol cream a year ago when my obgyn prescribed it. I've been using it for about 4 months now & I love it. No more pain or urgency. I highly recommend it.
Omg !! Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been struggling for information and advice. You need to go on tour lol come to Scotland I’ll book you a venue 🤩 but seriously thanks 👍
Oh joy. Those of us ladies who suffer from Interstitial Cystitis already deal with the urgency & frequency. So now we get to look forward to even more of that in the future. 😣
Hello. I have done a lot of research on menopause and hrt. I finally asked my doctor to prescribe the estradiol cream. My question is what about the methyl paraben in the ingredients?
Thank u. I make my own because dr s are so afraid of it. I only use a little on my legs every few wk s. Helps so much. Gives back libido! I just grind up a few pills and put in body butter. Lats all yr .
Thank you so much for your medical advice on such an important topic. Is topical estrogen enough for the labia minora to grow back? If yes, in your experience how long does it take? Is a twice a week application enough?
Thank you. Love this video. Easy to understand. You’re helpful and funny. What are your thoughts on estriol? I’ve heard some use estrogen on face and neck. Is that also safe?
A million thanks. I was told by a gyn that estrogen wouldn’t help me because of my LS. It’s been impossible to get. Can’t wait to find a provider who has her head screwed on straight!!
Hi Thanks for the video. I have been using estrogen cream for 3 months 2x weekly . It was really helping with burning . But recently the burning has returned. Really uncomfortable. Any thoughts why ? I did start monistat incase of and yeast infection . Thank you .
I am on combi patch and cream for one month now. My doctor only prescribed the cream once weekly since the start, with the more I learn and Reed that doesn’t seem to be enough. Post menopause 8 years since last period. 55 yrs old.
I've had issues (pain, irritation, yeast) for 3 plus years. I am always on HRT (creams and used to be patched but switched). I use 1 mg at night which is actually part of my HRT amount. The tissues are much better, puffier, etc. but still painful and irritated. :-(
Im so thankful for all you do!! Where I live Icant get Vaginal Estradiol but only Vaginal ESTRIOL, I know its weaker. Should I use it in higher doses or does it even work the same?
I found your podcast... you're a riot! I finally got a doctor who would prescribe me a cream, but he gave me an estrone cream... I can find much information about it, do you have any comments on with estrone vs estriol?
Dear Kelly, being a 57.stage menopausal, thanks to your sharings about this topic, I got introduced to vaginal estrogen creams. Here in Turkey we only have one cream available: ESTRIOL 1mg/g, that I started using 4 months ago, saving lots of things that would have been vanished from my marriage. My vagina is healthier than 7 years ago!! There is something I need to share and be enlightened about: I use it twice a week and especially on the next day the odour coming from that part is very unpleasant. This change of smell I had noticed from the very beginning of the application. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to prevent this unpleasant odour? Am I the only 1 woman who experieces this condition?
This is so helpful! I was diagnosed with VA at age 71 and put on Vagifem which didn’t give me the relief I needed. After a bit of coercing, my doctor gave me Premarin cream, 3x a week, with a warning not to go over it. So I've been very timid about increasing my dose if I'm still getting symptoms. I'm wondering what is considered too much estrogen? And what happens in that case? Thank you so much for what you do!

I had been having unexplainable UTI-like symptoms but my urine cultures came back normal and nobody ever told me low estrogen could be the culprit!
You never did research on Tamoxifen before taking it???
Thank you! It took me 2 years to get doctors to take care of my vulva! On cream & patch & starting to feel better finally!!
Do you use cream on inside and then also rub all over outside twice a week?
thank you, thank you,.Kelly,i have followed you for awhile and I SO appreciate all fo your information.thank YOU so very much sharing all you know about us females
Thanks!
This info is priceless… thank uuu!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Dr. Excellent video, explained everything so well. I have been suffering in ignorance too long!
So glad!!
Thank you Doctor I wish more were are just as informed, engaged ,& proactive. You should have 100k subs❤
Estrace is now very affordable in cream form!
@@NY-152 Yes that’s correct I pay very little for the cream. Always have.
I just learned amazing information! Thank you!! Why don’t all OBGYN doctors give informative information like this??! I absolutely LOVE how you explained “Everything “! You have really and truly taught me a lot!! Thank you!!
They, sadly, only receive about 1 hour of “education” on Menopause. Plus, the criminal “study” WHI scared women and doctors.
Estradiol has changed my life- thanks so much for this video I was in terrible pain Knowledge is power! Game changer this will change your life ❤
54 & atrophy & UTI’s-all the things- my dr prescribed me Estradiol today but didn’t tell me how often to use it. is it daily? or a cpl times a wk? daily for a wk then bck dwn to the cpl times a wk?
Ladies, listen and start using your estrogen cream now!
i ws jus prescribed it today (atrophy, uti all the things) do i use it daily for a wk? a month? or 2 times a wk?
Just got my estradiol vag cream and I’m 46.
I’m so thankful I came across your videos; you help me so much with understanding estrogen and the menopausal stage. I no longer feel like something’s wrong with me and that means everything, so thank you thank you ❤
Thank you so much! Called my gyno today and she sent out the cream. Can’t wait for results! You are wonderful, and I am following your page now.
Thank you very much love the way you explain things it makes it so easy to understand. I am 58 had a total history at the age of 28 and have no ovaries, I have had so many problems weight gain, mental health, crazy moments no sex drive hot flashes you name it and I'm only just starting HRT.
I have just started on estrdiol progesterone tablet combination and now cannot wait to get onto estrdiol
cream for the vagina.
Seeing my gyn tomorrow to discuss making changes to my hrt. Last month I experienced the worse bladder discomfort ever! Totally going to add this to my list of things to talk about!
perfect!!
Thank you for your honesty and your clarity and presenting this information because many of us are in the dark and our next generation needs to come out of that dark place.
Great. I'm 62 and have problems that you've mentioned. GPS are useless. Thanks very much x
Thank you so much ❤
Come back and tell us it's result.
@@Mmm...yummymummyI wish I'd started using the vaginal estradiol cream a year ago when my obgyn prescribed it. I've been using it for about 4 months now & I love it. No more pain or urgency. I highly recommend it.
@@acidroads4277
I will try it.
Omg !! Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been struggling for information and advice. You need to go on tour lol come to Scotland I’ll book you a venue 🤩 but seriously thanks 👍
OMG I would totally come to Scotland!
What is the connection between interstitial cystitis and vaginal atrophy?
Wow, this was so timely!!! Thank you so much for the in-depth explanation. Truly appreciated!!!!!❤️
You are so welcome!
Thank you! I'm researching so I'm ready to see my gynecologist in the morning
Can I use the suppository AND apply a little of the cream on my vulva and clittoris?
This was a fantastic overview! Learned so much!
Maybe I missed it, but did you discuss estriol v estradiol?
Thank you so much!! I’ve shared this with many of my friends. ❤
Fantastic video! Educational and funny too. Is there any reason the cream can’t be used everyday - are there any side effects from using too much?
Thank u. I make my own because dr s are so afraid of it. I only use a little on my legs every few wk s. Helps so much. Gives back libido!
I just grind up a few pills and put in body butter. Lats all yr .
I know this is an older video but can the damage be reversed? No doctor has ever told me these things!
Awesome info! Thanks for being blunt and real about it❤
Thank you from my heart ❤️. This is great news and great information.
This was an awesome explanation. Thank you so so much! 💓
You Are So Welcome!
Thank you so much for your medical advice on such an important topic. Is topical estrogen enough for the labia minora to grow back? If yes, in your experience how long does it take? Is a twice a week application enough?
I don't see them grow back to tell you the truth.
Thank you for this straight forward, informative discussion.
I just love listening to her !
She's taught me so much!
Oh my gosh! Thank you!! I wish I had found you 5 years ago!
So glad you found me too!
Thank you so much! This is the best video I’ve seen on this topic!
I love this doctor thank you soooo much
How do you keep or restore microbiome in vulva and vagina when using creme dayly?♡
Can you put a little dab of our systemic BHRT cream (estradiol, Testosterone and Dhea) down there?
Do you take one course or is it something that is applied for the rest of ones life?
Thank you. Love this video. Easy to understand. You’re helpful and funny. What are your thoughts on estriol? I’ve heard some use estrogen on face and neck. Is that also safe?
Nope, not recommended.
A million thanks. I was told by a gyn that estrogen wouldn’t help me because of my LS. It’s been impossible to get. Can’t wait to find a provider who has her head screwed on straight!!
I have LS & was prescribed Estradiol today.
55 yrs old.
so far i don't notice uti's etc. but pessory is not able to hold things in and up. just saw a nurse prac. and will try estrodiol for 3 months! 74 yrs.
I've had issues (pain, irritation, yeast) for 3 plus years. I am always on HRT (creams and used to be patched but switched). I use 1 mg at night which is actually part of my HRT amount. The tissues are much better, puffier, etc. but still painful and irritated. :-(
You got this!! thanks for sharing!
I was full of hope about vaginal estrogen. I’m having rough side effects (mentally) I will call my pharmacist to see if it’s going to go away.
awesome lecture
Love you too. That was great. I use the estradiol patch. I’ll have to see if you have a video in that 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us! I was just prescribed this for recurrent UTIs. I sure hope it works!! 😊
Thank you, so much! Incredibly informative!
Im so thankful for all you do!! Where I live Icant get Vaginal Estradiol but only Vaginal ESTRIOL, I know its weaker. Should I use it in higher doses or does it even work the same?
Im 73 with severe prolapse having several issues with discomfort my gyno prescribed estradiol 3 x a week inside my vagina is that ok?
I asked on your other video but will ask again. If I am using Vagifem can I also use a bit of the Estrodil cream on the outside areas?
Thank you for asking that ....I am wanting to know the same thing
I found your podcast... you're a riot! I finally got a doctor who would prescribe me a cream, but he gave me an estrone cream... I can find much information about it, do you have any comments on with estrone vs estriol?
some people have testosterone for energy and other reasons too
_Is using ESTADIOL optimal or is Estrone or Estriol vaginal cream just as good?_
Dear Kelly,
being a 57.stage menopausal, thanks to your sharings about this topic, I got introduced to vaginal estrogen creams.
I am so grateful to have found your videos! Thank you!
This was incredibly helpful, simple information!! Thanks
You are so welcome!
That was fabulous info. Thank you!!
