Thank you for standing up for women❤, My urology APRN prescribed estradiol due to UTIs. As far as menopause, if I had problems with it I was too busy to notice, 81 now.
So glad I stumbled onto your podcast. So that's what's going on. I first thought I had infection, then suspected worms and parasites for itching. Tx I am heading for the pharmacy.
What about those of us who had to give up hormones because of a heart attack scare long ago and are now in their late 70's? we older women get ignored.
Quit having periods at 45. I could've used something before quitting I was having a lot of issues but since I quit having periods I have been fine. I don't have any issues at all and I'm 64. So thankful. I hope all women that need HRT get it and find the relief they need.
There is scientific backed research that shows HRT can also help with long term heart, bone and brain health regardless of symptoms. Hormones affect every cell in the body and Menopause is a hormone deficiency. For up to date solid scientific based research and information I highly recommend videos by UK based menopause specialist Dr. Louise Newson.
@JCcreates927 Lots of women sail through menopause with no symptoms that bother them. That's great for you. Congratulations! I have had some conversations with several hormone specialists who have told me, "Women who have severe hot flashes (and other symptoms) are the lucky ones." That's because those women are motivated to look closely at their hormones and are concerned about treating those symptoms. By treating symptoms and seeking optimal hormone levels, they're reducing long-term health risks at the same time.
@pampetty2591 - Fill out my Patient Referral Request Form here to find a hormone specialist: simplehormones.com/referral If you leave a referral request on UA-cam or email it to me, it's extremely likely I'll drop the ball or it will fall through the cracks. Thanks!
I have been begging my gynecologists for years! They say "No. We don't do that." Why do women have to search for drs. who will prescribe bht. All GYNs should be able to prescribe this - To think that they still believe the 2002 WHI study is incredulous! Hormone therapy is safe - why can't women get them? Can you recommend a dr. in South Jersey? '
They can, they just choose not to and are untrained and misinformed. Search the North American Menopause Society for a menopause trained practioner in your area.
Thanks for all your well researched and well stated information! In your experience, does estradiol patch provide the same type of GSM help? I keep seeing that some women may need both transdermal and local estradiol; I guess that would be determined by symptoms, but if I'm already using the patch, should I reasonably expect it to offer the benefits of vaginal estradiol?
@teridobson5027 You’re welcome and thanks for watching. Great question. You should NOT reasonably expect the patch to do all that much for vaginal symptoms. Most women need localized estradiol to make a difference.
I use and am very happy with the vaginal estrodiol …it totally brought back my sex life, got rid of the pain and stopped the UTIs. So thankful for this product! ❤
Maybe less women are using HRT because it's not being talked about? I've had hormone issues for years but no one ever told me it was fixable. I HAD to ASK for hormone testing and then ASK for HRT even though two doctors looked at my lab results and said nothing about it being low (estrogen less than 6 and progesterone .1). I am furious that I've suffered for years and no doctor ever thought to get my hormones checked or fixed. The discrimination against women in medical research is awful. I've been working to educate myself and my daughters so they don't have to suffer for years like I did.
@MommaMia-k8t Thanks for watching! I can understand your frustration that you were never informed about the impact of hormones on menopause and menopause symptoms. There are nearly 1 BILLION women in menopause on this planet. My experience tells me almost NONE of those women have been informed about their hormones. That's exactly why I created The Menopause Solution, my digital course that empowers women to take charge of their own menopause and hormone health. The course is specifically designed to help women like you gain the clarity and confidence to make your own decision about whether you should take hormone replacement for your menopause . . . or not. Here's more information about The Menopause Solution: simplehormones.com/decision
If genitourinary syndrome of menopause never improves, but only continues to get worse... I think that must mean all the other problems caused by lack of estrogen just keep getting worse, too, such as bone loss, cognitive deficits, heart health, muscle strength, skin integrity, and on and on.
@patriciajump9511 You’re definitely onto something there! I’m always repeating the mantra, “Whether you choose to optimize your hormones or not . . . you face risks either way!” These are the risks I’m talking about.

I was happy to take HRT but after a few years I couldn’t stand the smell of the vaginal cream. 🤮 However I did some research and found Estrace was something I’d like to try, mainly because they were highly plant based as opposed to horse pee. I took it for years happily until they found a pattern of calcified cells that are often found to be precursors of breast cancer. They removed these and I had a couple of cysts flare up, I have had fibrocystic breast disease for half my life but they never flared up to full blown infected cysts. We talked about whether I should be still taking HRT still and we decided maybe I shouldn’t. Oh, I had a hysterectomy in my 30’s but had my ovaries. Since then I’ve seen many papers saying at 71 it would still be of benefit to me if I could take them so after my next mammogram we’ll decide what to do.
My mom is 77 and still takes HRT. She says her aunt took it until she died at100 and she swore it was the fountain of youth. I knew to get help when I started getting hot flashes.
@@sherirottweilersforever7772 I recommend anyone to take them if you have at least part of an ovary, unless things have changed they used to not give it unless you had no uterus and kept your ovaries. That was before I had menopause though.
Please, Sir, how long do I have to take this cream for. I have just got it prescribed 2 days ago when I went to a doctor thinking I had UTI and today I got resalts of urine test and it is negative. So now it really looks like problems are somewhere else. Is it just a certain time I take it or for how long really women usually use Estradiol cream 0.01. Thank you very much as I am very new in this issues and worry also of side effects since my dear aunt just passed away last year in breast cancer. Regards, Jana
@JanasSpace Thanks for watching. So sorry you're struggling with those symptoms. In answer to your question, estradiol vaginal cream is usually taken long-term, since the loss of estradiol isn't something that's going to go away on its own. So sorry about your aunt. However, you can rest assured that there's exactly ZERO evidence that estradiol in a vaginal cream has any impact on increasing breast cancer risk.
@patriciapyper4617 There doesn’t seem to be much evidence in the research about either menopause or HRT in relation to hemorrhoids. Constipation is more prevalent after menopause and may be a factor.
I'm 62 suffering terrible vaginal pain. I've been using estriol cvaginal cream. My vagina feels beterr but I"ve experiencing terrible vulva pain. Is it too late to start HRT? I was always scared of it because of history of female cancer in my family.

@pampetty2591 You might be thinking of Intrarosa suppositories. Those contain DHEA, which is converted into estrogen in the vaginal tissues. Here's a video about that: ua-cam.com/video/Mlcwx4uHjVA/v-deo.html The research says vaginal DHEA is about as effective as vaginal estrogen. It may be a bit more expensive.
I’m an otherwise healthy 77 yr old who suffered from vaginal dryness, incontinence, sleep problems and still get 2 or 3 hot flashes per day. I take no prescription drugs of any kind. I am wondering if I should approach my doctor for estrogen cream. Is there anyone my age who has started on the cream?

@@sherirottweilersforever7772 yes, the insomnia is such a hard thing and makes functioning to the best of our ability very hard. It also is linked to cancer and other diseases. My dr will look at my labs in 3 mos and see if he needs to increase dose of micronized prog pill and estradiol patch. Testosterone does not agree with me at all. Insane! My doctor prescribed Intrarosa, DHEA synthetic. Lowest price was $233 with coupon insurance will not cover. Using the manufacturer coupon its 85.00 per month. Still crazy high.
I have never believed that having a little estrogen later in life would cause breast cancer when having a lot of estrogen earlier would not. Maybe they should do research on how many of the cancer victims have had @bortions, in case the interruption of bodily changes mid-pregnancy might throw off the body’s ability to recover in a natural way.
@angelatakano6072 My OBGYN recommended it for postmenopausal atrophy. I actually don't have symptoms that I can notice. What are your thoughts and alternative(s)?
I would caution and read side effects thouroughly, the estradiol I used within 2 months and I had blood clots in my left leg. I also found out I had Factor V Leiden. my Dr would not have prescribed me this product if she knew of the Factor V, but I had several family members suffer from blood clots and we were all in the process of getting the blood test done. Now on blood thinners. Everyone is different but read the side effects. This may help someone, not trying to scare.
@Katepwe Dr. Louise Newson is a good source for menopause and HRT information. Some of what she talks about is a bit "UK-centric" and may not translate for US audiences. But overall I like what she teaches.
I just read your article on your website about progesterone. I was on bhrt for two years. Then I retired and started taking synthetic estradiol and medroxyprogestrone for three years. Right after that, barely stage 1 breast cancer was discovered by mammogram. Now, I wonder if that contributed to my breast cancer. I also wish that I never got off the bhrt. Plus, I really believe that my primary doctor didn't know that much about menopause.

Thank you for standing up for women❤, My urology APRN prescribed estradiol due to UTIs. As far as menopause, if I had problems with it I was too busy to notice, 81 now.
Vaginal estradiol gave me yeast infection for two years! I’m back on my compounded cream, now it’s better.
What ingrediens does your compund cream have?
@@kamap.4525 the pharmacy mixes it to a dr.’s Subscription, after they tested my hormones. So all four hormones mixed.
Estriol, estradiol, progesterone, testosterone. I put on my skin not vaginally.
Thanks for this information. Clear and concise.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm so tired of these doctors not prescribing HRT. Where do I find a doctor that will prescribe where you don't have to pay for a Functional doctor.

Not unlike how doctors once believed smoking was not bad for you! Look how long that took to be reversed. 🤦🏻♀️
The course is specifically designed to help women like you gain the clarity and confidence to make your own decision about whether you should take hormone replacement for your menopause . . . or not.
Here's more information about The Menopause Solution:

I had pretty miserable urinary symptoms. Drove me mad. Thank god for vaginal estrogen’s I used intrarosa currently. Also a good quality moisturizer
Vaginal Estradiol has been a life saver for me. So glad my Doctor prescribed it for me.
Hi, May I ask how old you are? My doctor will not if 65 yrs old and older.
I am actually going to see OBGYN for this purpose and I asking for RX
If genitourinary syndrome of menopause never improves, but only continues to get worse... I think that must mean all the other problems caused by lack of estrogen just keep getting worse, too, such as bone loss, cognitive deficits, heart health, muscle strength, skin integrity, and on and on.
@patriciajump9511 You’re definitely onto something there! I’m always repeating the mantra, “Whether you choose to optimize your hormones or not . . . you face risks either way!” These are the risks I’m talking about.
Hi Steve, thank you for offering this invaluable information to all of us through your videos! I am wondering why you didn't mention estriol? Would love to hear your thoughts on estriol cream. I am on HRT... estradiol patch, progesterone cream (I am extremely sensitive to progesterone, so I can not take it systemically) and topical testosterone... as well as the recent addition of estriol cream vaginally for some of the symptoms you described. Any thoughts on this form of estrogen for the treatment of urinary / vaginal symptoms during peri and menopause would be so appreciated. Thank you!!

Tjank you for your video.
I use a vaginal supository which contain vitamin E, A and hylauric acid. I am 63, postmenopausal.
I also use vaginal progesterone which helps me sleeping better. I can not take it oraly because of grogginess during the day.
How about women who have had hormone positive cancer? My doctor says even a vaginal cream is not risk free.
Is vaginal estradiol ok to use for post menopausal women that have ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids? Currently on estradiol patch 0.0375, micro progesterone 100 and compounded testosterone cream, but dealing with the symptoms described in the video, except no uti as cultures come back normal
I think your patch dose is too low.
@@rosej9686 I think so too, but my doctor doesn’t want to test or change dose until May of next year. I just started hrt this year and only by asking after doing my own research
@Carolifndz if you watch Menopause Taylor's UA-cam channel you'll get tons of useful information. She says you need a minimum of .05 estradiol patch to prevent the diseases of menopause (heart disease, osteoporosis and Alzheimers). She also says that the vagina is "greedy" when it comes to estrogen and needs its own topical estradiol, even if you're taking a systemic estrogen like a patch.
@@Carolifndz Specialists have mentioned that within the first 5 years of post menopause, there is a fast decline in bone density. My NP did the same thing. She prescribed the lowest dose and didn't want to increase until the following year despite my complaints that I still had symptoms. I had to be very insistent and was prepared to find another doctor.
I had my coil mireena removed last week as it was misplaced, I taking utragestran micronised progesterone vaginally!
Since I've removed the coil my pms and heavy periods and perimenopause came crashing back😢 I've got a progesterone intolerance as I've always suffered from bad pms!
That was before I had menopause though.
horse pee is no longer used.

Is topical estradiol still $400 for a 15 gram tube?
My medicare paid for mine. I had not filled my prescription a few years ago when it was $400
Please, Sir, how long do I have to take this cream for.
I am 72 and have UTI for years but was not able to tolerate vaginal ekstradiol I Got SICK and could not function.
What exactly happened?
What if you get piles please thank you ♥️
@patriciapyper4617 There doesn’t seem to be much evidence in the research about either menopause or HRT in relation to hemorrhoids. Constipation is more prevalent after menopause and may be a factor.
I use Collinsonia root for a few weeks and it works good for me! I get it from a practitioner's office that sells whole food vitamins/supplements.
I'm 62 suffering terrible vaginal pain. I've been using estriol cvaginal cream. My vagina feels beterr but I"ve experiencing terrible vulva pain. Is it too late to start HRT? I was always scared of it because of history of female cancer in my family.

Herbal enemas for hormone imbalance?
Is the cream safe if you have a history of endometriosis?
@shellyhatch2547 Most of the research (maybe ALL?) shows no increased endometrial growth with vaginal estrogen creams.
You talk about Estrarosa suppositories. Is this as good as vaginal, gel etc estrogen? My doctor prescribed it.
@pampetty2591 You might be thinking of Intrarosa suppositories. Those contain DHEA, which is converted into estrogen in the vaginal tissues. Here's a video about that:
ua-cam.com/video/Mlcwx4uHjVA/v-deo.html
The research says vaginal DHEA is about as effective as vaginal estrogen.
Omg - I'm 62, I went through surgical menopause at 40 due to fibroid tumors. I feel like I'm on fire 🔥🔥 in my vaginal area and the pain is excruciating, I get UTI's all the time and I have a cystocele, would I be able to use the cream?????
@elaineisabelle427 It would definitely be worth a try. If your doctor won't prescribe it, it might be time to find a new provider.
I wonder if the estradiol patch is as good as the vaginal estradiol mentioned.
I use an estradiol patch and compounded vaginal estriol. Awesome relief and feel like me again.

@@sherirottweilersforever7772 yes, the insomnia is such a hard thing and makes functioning to the best of our ability very hard. It also is linked to cancer and other diseases. Causes a decrease in melatonin. My sleep is some better since I resumed BHRT, a cpl of wks ago. My dr will look at my labs in 3 mos and see if he needs to increase dose of micronized prog pill and estradiol patch. Testosterone does not agree with me at all. The reason it is not used? Have you ever looked at the cost???
Insane! My doctor prescribed Intrarosa, DHEA synthetic. Lowest price was $233 with coupon insurance will not cover. Using the manufacturer coupon its 85.00 per month. Still crazy high.
What about lowdown estradiol patches?
a resounding YES!
What about Premarin (conjugated estrogens) Vaginal Cream?
No Premarin please

I would caution and read side effects thouroughly, the estradiol I used within 2 months and I had blood clots in my left leg. I also found out I had Factor V Leiden. my Dr would not have prescribed me this product if she knew of the Factor V, but I had several family members suffer from blood clots and we were all in the process of getting the blood test done. Now on blood thinners. Everyone is different but read the side effects. This may help someone, not trying to scare.
For solid scientific backed facts on all things menopause I highly recommend watching videos by UK menopause specialist Dr. Louise Newson.
@Katepwe Dr. Louise Newson is a good source for menopause and HRT information. Some of what she talks about is a bit "UK-centric" and may not translate for US audiences. But overall I like what she teaches.
I would love to be on bhrt, but, because of my history of barely stage I breast cancer, no doctor will prescribe it. I suffer from insomnia.
Try to find a compounding pharmacist who knows hormones. The one I'm working with is very knowledgeable . She had me do a saliva test, then I should be able to get them through a doctor she knows.
