Could you look into Lee Yoon-hee? The sus of her disappearance is mighty, including police mishaps, several suspects, and just… a rabbit hole that makes you feel for this woman’s fate. She was a veterinary student, and might have been disposed of on campus in the incinerator that they typically use for pets who’ve passed.

Hey Swoop. You should look into Jared Leisek, founder of Adventures with Purpose. He recently plead no contest for child SA charges, but has a popular YT channel for his work on missing person cases. My sister was almost abducted in a super affluent San Francisco neighborhood in the middle of the afternoon. A car pulled up next to her while she was walking, guys got out tried to pull her in. Not only did she have to fight like hell, gauging eyes, biting, etc, she also literally had to shit her pants before they finally stopped and fled. She had a broken nose, cracked teeth, was COVERED in blood and bruises, but she’s alive. Do WHATEVER it takes not to get in the car.

Swoop, I live in Florida & in 1993 I was selected to sit on a trial to decide if a man that brutally killed a woman & left her for her child & husband to find her dead body in her home. At this time it was very hard to decide whether he should be given the death penalty or not because I was 6 months pregnant & was a Sunday school teacher at my church. After sitting thru the whole trial & seeing all the crime scene photos that still haunt me to this day we unanimously decided 12-0 for the death penalty. It was a hard decision to make & he is still sitting on death row to this date. His name is Mark Gerald if you want to look up the case, it happened in 1989. Thank you for all that you do & hang in there Swoop! You are here for a reason, so keep your head up. You are beautiful & loved by many! Always remember that you are important & worthy. Being told something that alters your reality in a negative and shocking way is hard to accept, and I would rather yell at someone for a cruel joke than live in that new reality. Definitely mid. I guess as perplexing as it is the excessive attraction being expressed by these women has to be more related to his crimes or a weird thing where these women want to mother him and "fix" him. That somehow makes him exotic and desirable to these messed-up women. It's like that attraction people have with having a tiger or other large, dangerous animal as a pet. They want to have the thrill of danger and to feel so special and powerful that they can tame that beautiful, powerful creature. They somehow equate this with intense attraction for living on the edge of danger while being convinced that they would be safe because they understand the man or animal better than anyone else.

There was a video on the internet where a larp guy was describing finding a dead body in the forest they were larping in. He described thinking that the guy was playing, too, so he conducted a few resurrection spells covering the crime scene with glitter until he realized what he was seeing. A normal person is totally not ready to instantly assume they’re seeing a dead body.

I think the bit about ppl thinking confessions being jokes is typically its friends and family and no one wants to believe the person they are related to or have a relationship with is a bad thing. As cynical as ppl can be, human nature doesnt want to believe the other peers and community members are capable of being evil. Its also just a wild traumatizing info dump too that often turns surreal in that moment. I am speaking from my own experience of finding out my ex stepdad of 15 years was a pdf creep that secretly made me and my niece a victim without my knowledge (filming me without my knowledge). I almost wanted to think something else happened. I remember my mom and theorizing maybe he has false memories from a brain tumor or something until we saw the evidence with our own eyes. We never want to think we can be involved with monsters...

    I am ridiculously anti-death penalty.
    1) It doesn't work; we have a lot of evidence that a death penalty is not a deterrent for behavior.
    2) It costs more than keeping a person imprisoned for the rest of their natural lives; a government will spend twice the taxpayer money putting someone on death row than just jailing them forever and a day. That is a waste of taxpayer money.
    3) To Swoop's point - A State should not have the authority to murder its citizens in a legal fashion; the State will use that to justify just about anything if you let them. Government should not have that power, hands down.

I HATE that domestic battery is a misdemeanor. My downstairs neighbor got arrested for beating his girlfriend (who also lives with him, also my neighbor). And I was peeking out the window to watch. The cops found cocaine on him during the arrest. Later, I searched his name on the online court system, and saw that he was charged with a felony and a misdeamnor. But I was so disheartened when I saw which was which. He was found with a small amount of cocaine on him. That I'd had any issues or noticed anything about. But all the nights of loud fighting. All the holes punched in their walls. The KNIFE holes in their walls. A woman with a black eye who didn't even call the cops, she fled to her brothers house and her brother called the cops. All that and it's just a misdemeanor but posession of a little coke is the main thing he got in trouble for. Sad sad sad.

I love your documentaries Swoop. I personally have no clue why people thirst people who commit such horrible crimes especially when they know what their record is.
Is it that 'i can fix them' story trooe they see in media? If so, i hate to say I'm glad I learned growing up that you can't fix people. They have to want to change themselves before you can help them. At least from what I've learned/observed so far in life.

Sadly this is a tale as old as time....
Bundy, Dahmer. Richard Ramirez, Charles Manson...they all did horrible things and still got groupies...
I'm convinced that it's a mental illness that these groupies have

they should be charged as accomplices. Getting dragged into a murder case will make you think twice about whether you want to be a contrarian fangirl

The fact a "serial killer" fandom exists that swoons over these pathetic loser human beings is vomit inducing. Like people make fun of people for liking animated characters, but at least they are CHARACTERS that didn't harm real people. The amount of yikes is an ocean full.

A doc about KSI/Logan Paul and Lunchly would be so interesting considering they still have not addressed the fact that people have found MOLD in more than just one of their products. Their negligence (and arrogance) is actively endangering children's lives right now

"...who thinks this is a prank?" It's cognitive dissonance. When a certain aspect of reality (in this example, a confession) doesn't square up with our understanding of reality (in these examples, "I can't imagine my son/the human being who is this close to me would actually do that") we immediately default to the most emotionally reassuring or easy to process. The first reaction of believing it must be a prank is the most natural one for most human beings.
Incidentally, abusers rely on this dissonance to maintain their perceived innocence when victims speak out against them, leaving mutual friends to immediately initially side with the abuser because the idea that someone that seems so nice and whom they trust could actually be an abuser is too great of a challenge in that moment.
