    How is the station’s potential fine LOWER than the hapless victim’s costs of repairs??? Wow....

      @dee haek Don't sue the gas station - sue the fuel company. They've got the pockets and they *WILL* go after the owner, and he can't ghost them. They'll also stop delivering there very, very swiftly and sue the place into shutdown if he bought cheap gas from elsewhere while still having their badging.
      Valero is a national chain. Low quality, but still national. They've got lawyers that will work with the drivers to protect themselves from a worse reputation than they've already got.

      There is absolutely no way that watered fuel or even a diesel mix would cause 7K of damage. Drain the tank, change the fuel filter, fill with fresh fuel. In the case of water contamination, pull the tank and sop out the fuel. Even with a tank pull this is going to be sub $ 400 .

    • @amzarnacht6710

      @@bobroberts2371 Watered fuel could easily cause 7k of damage if pushed enough. Water gets into pistons and *boom* you've got bent lifters or even a cracked head, or worse.
      And it doesn't take running a fuel/water mixture very long to cause that sort of damage.
      If it fouls the fuel filter your car is saved - just switch out the parts, as stated, and drive on. Most of that cost being the labor and 'hazardous material' handling fines.

    • @bobroberts2371
      @bobroberts2371 2 роки тому +6

      @@amzarnacht6710 Bent lifters? Call a shop and tell them you have bent lifters that need replaced due to water in fuel and see what they say.
      Cranked head? First off, there wont be enough liquid in a cylinder to hydrolock the engine and second, heads crack from overheating / casting issues not from hydrolock.

      Probably a leaky tank. The water seaping in pools at the bottom and stays separate from the petrol until the levels are low enough to start pumping the gas/water mix. If they've only been inspected when levels are above that mixture zone then no one could have known unless they're the petrol delivery man or they go inside the tank and spot the leak.

    • @CannonFodder873
      @CannonFodder873 4 місяці тому

      I wouldn't put a whole lot of reliance on them. Our "Federal Inspectors", in Canada "correct" pump delivery to an average temp of 15 DegC (60 DegF).
      You get LESS metered gas because the average temp in Canada is nowhere NEAR that temperature...it's closer to 40 DegF.
      Consumer protection sucks EVERYWHERE in North America....it's even worse in Canada.🤔

The one I used to work at, would seep water into the tank underground. Every so often, a VERY angry customer would come in and complain about it, demanding we pay their repair bills. Our policy was to deny it/talk as little as possible about it besides saying it's beyond our control. I'm happy it is getting attention, because it made me feel horrible, with our location on a highway, to know we were probably disabling so many traveler's cars and not caring.

    It has been raining a lot and if the drop tubes leak it can get water in the tanks but the tanks usually have an alarm system to tell if the water is to high. If they don't have this system then they should stick the tank every day with water paste on the end of the measuring stick. I turns a color if water is present. Then they would have to hire a used oil truck or pump truck to suck out the water. Now if the water is under the level the pumps it can pick still be picked up and someone can still get water if the station is getting fuel because when the fuel is dropped it stirs up everything. After the fuel is dropped in about 15 to 30 minutes the water will settle back to the bottom of the tank. Water is heavier than fuel. All fuel tanks have water due to condensation but usually it is only a couple of inches and the pumps usually sit at about 12 inches but not always. I never get fuel if I see a gas truck at any gas station. The owner could have had this happen or he was buying time to get the tanks cleaned and new fuel. Now if he has an alarm system it will give past readings and the state should know this.

It never made my vehicle undrivable but on three separate occasions I ended up with a check engine light immediately after filling up and starting the car. When I got it home and hooked it up to my scanner, it gave me a P2269 water in fuel code. I had this happen to me at 3 separate locations and I honestly wondered if it was the fuel sensor but this was a few months ago and it has never happened again since.

    For the record. If you get bad gas its almost always 100% the gas station or the tanker. Before gasoline or diesel is even approved to leave the refinery and go in a tanker; it has samples pulled and analyzed at a lab. Camin Cargo, Amspec, Intertek, Inspectorate are the main labs with millions in analyzers and testing machines. They even have engines in their labs for specific diesel tests. If you get bad gas its the storage tank at the gas station. If the gas is several cents cheaper then pass. Unless its buccees.

    • @izzyrrr7448
      @izzyrrr7448 2 роки тому

      Who told you money makes you "whole". Even if they run 5 gas stations they still won't be "whole". Look around you and find someone whose "whole". It has nothing to do with capitalism. And it doesn't mean its o.k for scammers to scam. So are they "whole" if they scam? Are those reporters "whole"? Of course not. They beat and will continue to be beat until they die.

    • @dell7443

      @phantasm I don't know anything about no rain water. Stick to the topic of capitalism. Majority of business owners are so money hungry that they are scared for the truth to come out ....but Google capitalism....get a better understanding of "greed for money". Look at where the business owners lives and where his employees live? Anyone wonder why these 8 dollar an jobs are having a hard time fulfilling jobs. A job is irrelevant if it doesn't pay a liveable wage and more importantly watch how the business owners side steps taking responsibility for selling trash gas. The business owners are going back to their million dollar homes and he is going to leave these people to get there own vehicles fixed. 2021 you better be a scammer, it's the.only way to get ahead.period
