    Ordered one of the frame sheets for my new Heritage. Thanks for the heads up on those!

    Thanks for the overview! I’m still awaiting mine from GR (hopefully October if not sooner). Glad to see what I ordered in use. Please update if you have any issues with the Canvas. I’ve been an adamant Cordura user, so I gambled on the heritage and hopefully don’t regret it.

      Hey Tom, thanks for the comment. Waxed canvas can last years and years with proper care. If you rewax the canvas every year or two depending on use, it’ll last you decades. So far so good on my end, I am getting a small admin panel made for the interior PALS webbing.

    Thanks for the review. Someday I will purchase a GoRuck. I’ve been looking at them off and on for years, but have just never pulled the trigger. Loving the look of the waxed canvas. I don’t typically like brown backpacks and like you, I tend to steer clear of camo/military/outdoor style packs. The style just doesn’t fit into my daily routine very well. This bag however, I could totally rock. I bet it’s going to patina nicely over the years.
    I’m a Mission Workshop fan, looking forward to those next videos!!

      I have a few friends that own every GR that’s come out, they absolutely love these bags; I didn’t understand. But once I actually got to spend some time with one, I saw the appeal. I probably still wouldn’t go with the flat-out GR1, but the GR1 Slick is quite handsome.
      Looking forward to filming the Mission Workshop stuff soon! I got a Rhake and a Spar.

      @@ofthetraveler I have never seen a GoRuck up close and personal and I’m with you on the Slick. If I purchased one, I would definitely go with a version that didn’t have the molle on the outside of the pack. I’d also probably opt for the 500D model. I’ve heard the 1000D is abrasive and can cause pilling in clothing over time.
      I have a few MW bags, The Spar being one of them. Great bag, but the strap that ships with it; not a fan. It’s a great strap for say The Khyte, but not in the use case of the Spar. I ended up ordering the Deluxe Messenger Strap and it was a total game changer. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

      It’s beautiful. In doing a recent look at my collection, over the last year the majority of my collection has turned into Waxed Canvas or Baida Nylon - one is old school beauty, the other is high tech elegance.

    Would you use that size of 26L for EDC? or would you go down to the 21L version?

    • @ofthetraveler
      @ofthetraveler  Рік тому +1

      For my body type, the 26L was too big and I think a little large for my typical EDC. 21L was perfect for EDC, for my body type, and it was an awesome companion when I took it to California for 2 weeks.

  • @kennethboehnen271
    @kennethboehnen271 2 роки тому +1

    What size do you recommend for 5'10? I know Goruck recommends the 26l for 6' and up.

    • @ofthetraveler
      @ofthetraveler  2 роки тому +1

      I am 5’7 and I found the 26L to be way too long for me. I ended up selling the one from this video and getting a 21L, I am much happier with it. At 5’10 the 21L would be perfect I think.

    How’s the leather bottom holding up? Worried it might scratch up badly during daily use.

    • @ofthetraveler
      @ofthetraveler  3 роки тому +2

      That was a concern as well, but even after months of use, the bottom was like-new. No noticeable scratches or blemishes aside from the natural patina that develops.

    • @taylorcalibo4883

      I have a similar leather souled duffel from ll bean. I love the leather on the bottom. It scrapes up and patinas a little bit but I actually prefer it to a smooth purse leather. One scratch is out of place but 100 scratches makes it look like it was meant to.

    • @ztnupe8
      @ztnupe8 2 роки тому +1

      The scratches give character and develops what I prefer a great patina.

    Hello! Thanks for the review! Can you please tell how is your Heritage holding over time? Some people reported getting holes from regular use...

      Hey there! I ended up selling this one and then getting a blue 21L that I abused for six months before selling. I will admit that the canvas isn’t as robust as other waxed canvas bags out there, I believe they use 10oz whereas others use 12oz. Still, even with some abuse, if you rewax every six months to a year, depending on use, I think you’ll be fine. Also remember the SCARS program can help, even though shipping to and from Europe may be tough.

      @ It wouldn’t be a fair assessment. When I first purchased this bag, it was on a very limited run. Now a days, GoRuck releases them fairly often in a bunch of colors. Still, I believe I sold it for $400.

    Does the leather bottom bleed when wet? I had a backpack with leather bottom that stained my clothes after it got wet.

      Hey JKC, I haven’t experienced that with this pack, and Miami is pretty humid. On the other hand, though, I haven’t really soaked this pack, only a couple of minor rain sprinkles.

      Just saw your unboxing video. Nice work. I agree, the Heritage is a better bag with nowhere near the QC issues of the GRXC. I am a big fan of waxed canvas, and I can’t wait to see the stories my bag tells. I anticipate it’ll be with me for many years. Keep up the good work, J Ko!

    Sorry for saying this so bluntly, but you don't seem to know anything about GoRuck bags. you said "people put there laptop in here ... I'm not sure if I would wanna put my laptop in here ..." - that pocket you're referring to is one of the biggest selling points of GoRuck bags: the "bombproof" laptop slot. Maybe you should do a little research before talking about a bag you apprantely know little about.
