I just purchased the 21l gr1 heritage today. Got a heck of a deal from someone local on OfferUp. I own a 26l goruck Rucker and wanted something smaller for my ruck walks. This bag is perfect and also a great EDC bag. I would have to agree that Goruck bags are some of the best. I’ve had my 26l Rucker for several years and it still looks like new. Love the wax canvas type bags and it looks great with this one. You will not find a better quality bag.
For my purposes I think the best is the 5.11 rush series. Not everyone appreciates the “tactical” look. I still have a 14 or 15 year old Northface Surge that went through hell and back as a freelance lighting engineer. It’s still perfectly usable but tired. I spent a lot of time looking at replacements as I don’t have confidence in the durability of the modern day northface back packs. Through trial and error I ended up on the 5.11 rush 72 in black and it is fantastic and very large…too large for EDC. So I also picked up the rush 12…super for a day sack but with a laptop and a lot of my edc gear felt too small…so I then also got the rush 24. This is perfect for edc with room for edc with enough spare space. I rotate between the 3 depending on my needs. The 72 currently is more of a long hike/camping/weekend travel bag, the 24 as an edc and the 12 when I just want to throw in what I need on a given day when heading out. Superb series of bags!
I am also a very pleased owner of a Goruck GR1 Heritage backpack and very much concur with your excellent assessment of the bag. I live in the USA and am a retired member of Her military service and consequently was able to purchase the bag at a discounted price. I suspect I will be picking up a GR2 Bag at some point in the future. A while back I was so impressed by your video presenting "The Best Wallet That Money Can Buy," that I ended up purchasing one of those wallets and have been very pleased with it...Thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks and happy to hear that you also like the Taurus Camp Wallet. I would also love to pick up a GR2 either in 26L or 34L. But with all the import fees and taxes they are so expensive to buy here in Europe. Some day though... I know it will be worth it.
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
The heritage is a really nice bag. The classic gr1 was always my grail bag and I was gifted one 6 years ago. There is currently a sale that brings the black 26l for $299. While tempting, I have a really nice broken in regular gr1 26l for EDC and video work and a 21l i use just for rucking.
Love your vids and for some reason your channel has been recommended to me years back when you only had few subs. Probably as I am also heavy into photography, EDC and backpacks. I also have a backpack problem and own way too many, however I have to say that my Heritage GR1 gets always most use. Something about being classy, simplistic and super comfortable fits my bill. Yes, it's expensive, but thankfully enough I do not have worry about that and in my humble opinion it is worth every penny. Great video once again!
I was looking at gorucks bags but the molle webbing was off putting so I went with ever goods instead..I’m thinking I may go ahead and get this one in the heritage version now
@TobisTings I switch back into gr1 slick and axiom, those have been the two like go-tos for me. Trying to get one to beat the other, but I cant lol. both do different things well.
You mention the pouch is airplane travel friendly. From my experience, any kind of tool, e.g. the pliers, wouldn't be allowed on the plane? Just something to check before you travel with it.
Thats always a risk and even though I have been through airport security with the Leatherman Style PS in the past without any issue I would probably actually not bring it with me going forward as it has apparently been discontinued by Leatherman and so I wouldn't be able to get a new one if this got confiscated. The Knipex I haven't tried yet but I guess it mostly depends on who you get with airport security. Its always a gamble.
VG :)
It is heavy, but I think it carries its weight exceptionally well (after a short break in period). Despite its weight I think this is one of the most comfortable backpacks in terms of how well it distributes the weight on your shoulders and back. But as with everything, its a matter of taste and preference in the end ;)
I watched your Rucker as EDC video a several times before pulling the trigger and bought a 1st gen 20l Rucker for my EDC. It's damn near perfect, despite the lack of laptop compartment. Now planning on getting a GR1 21l :)
Wow, that was one of my first videos, thanks for sticking around! Honestly I could have just stopped my hunt for the perfect backpack with the Rucker. I still have it and still use it (mostly for sports though). Having an external Laptop compartment and that new pocket under the grab handle also has its benefits though. ;)
He said the quiet part out loud "Lets start with the infomercial, I mean review". Well done sir! I'm now subscribed.
A bag standing up by itself is a massive plus when you are travelling by public transport and sitting or standing.
True! Needs to be fully packed or at least have something at the bottom though. Otherwise it might topple over. (just FYI)

I love the look of this bag but over $400 is insane work.

How’s the weatherproofing of the waxed canvas? I know you can and should rewax the bag, but how effective is it really?

Purchased mine from your earlier videos. Still use it daily. Best bag that I’ve ever used!
Awesome, glad you like it too!

The heritage is a nice looking bag(love the waxed canvas)
Excellent video. I need to pick up a GR1 Heritage. Do you have a video breaking down the tool pouch with links for the items contained within it?
I think u should also try Vietnam chuyentactical backpack. If not another option is Aer, cuz u will never go wrong with AER backpack.
I was looking at gorucks bags but the molle webbing was off putting so I went with ever goods instead..I’m thinking I may go ahead and get this one in the heritage version now
Check out the Bedouin Foundry Sharky in waxed canvas.
Very nice video again. Not buying one though. Besides too expensive I really don’t need one.
My go-to for backpacks and accessories is Bellroy and for camera related Peak Design.
Another cool video. Pls try some Osprey bags… I love them.
I almost agree. I like the heritage Bullet Laptop version a little better for EDC.
The Sinn 104 pairs perfectly here.
GR1 is a damn good bag, love mine. but i carry my axiom s2 canvas more. take that for whatever its worth.
Honestly did not know about this one but it looks great. I guess I will have to check it out in more detail.

ULA dragonfly is my best edc bag money can buy.

All dat kislux bags sssssoooooooo gorgeous
Subscribed. Cheers.

Nice but not weatherproof at that price.
Unfortunately this bag is shockingly heavy, which impairs its usability imo

Your sound levels were very low. It’s like you had a wet towel over your mic.
I didn't notice a problem
@@hoot7588 story about that. It sounds normal now.

I'm the first. The first comment is mine.😀
