Thank you for watching! I haven’t had a chance to check out the samurai just yet but based on what I’ve heard it sounds like it’s fabric would be more rugged / abrasion resistant than vx20 but also heavier and not quite as weather resistant
Thank you for watching! It’s tough to say since I’ve had the waxed canvas and cordura versions longer than the xpac and I still reallly love the look and straps on the heritage so it’d be a toss up between that one and the xpac for the added weather resistance and the zippers
Vx42 has over 3x the abrasion resistance too! Vx21 has 500 cycles & the vx42 has 1700 no comparison!. Also seen bunch of comments of wierd dimpling and delaminate issues. Maybe vx21 on pouches etc but on main panels nogo.
Thank you for watching! That’s a tough choice for sure as there’s aspects I love about each. In general my most used would be the waxed canvas heritage (love the aesthetic and straps) and now the xpac gr1 (for the weather resistance, zippers and since it can self stand). Prior to that I was using the robic gr1 a lot because I love how broken in it feels and the zippers are super smooth and I’ve also been using the dyneema 18l bullet quite a bit
Thank you for watching and really tough choice! I love the aesthetic and harness on the heritage, but I still think I would lean slightly towards the xpac for the added piece of mind in the rain, if I lived somewhere where it doesn’t rain much I’d probably go with the heritage
Exactly. The lack of bottle holders is an immediate no-go for me, when it comes to backpacks. Not to forget that I would like them to justify the outrageous price level.
Goruck makes very good backpacks but the back panels are not at all breathable which is a big problem in very hot weather ( I have a dyneema version) For traveling in Asia I take my ULA ultra dragonfly which is great and I use my Goruck in winter!
Thank you for watching! I agree on the back panels, I do wish there was a version with more breathability, and good call on the ula for traveling to abroad, really versatile bag!
I had the first version. Used it for months, but the zippers were so tough even over time. I ended up selling it simply due to how much a pain in the butt the zippers were.
They need to be making ALL stuff in the US. There is no excuse anymore. Origin and many others do it. If you had a contract with Vietnam, and were supporting them for a reason, like the MAC-V SOG run, that's cool. But there is no reason to have a US and non US version of the same pack.
You had me at the Straw hat Jollyrodger.
Thank you for watching! Definitely one of my favorite patches!:)
Did not expect the onepiece rep!
Thank you for watching! One of my favorite patches for sure!:)
Hi Danny, Appreciate the detailed review of the X-PAC GR1. How does the X-PAC compare to Dyneema and what is your preference?
Thank you for watching! Both fabrics have been great but I prefer the look of xpac and the aquaguard zippers over the rain flap on the dyneema edition
By any chance Danny, what are your thoughts on the GRXC2 Samurai and the Japanese denim compared to VX20?
Thank you for watching! I haven’t had a chance to check out the samurai just yet but based on what I’ve heard it sounds like it’s fabric would be more rugged / abrasion resistant than vx20 but also heavier and not quite as weather resistant
@@dannypacks Thanks for reply Danny!
Which do you prefer between the GR1 2L X-PAC or the Huckberry Slick?
Thank you for watching! Definitely a tough choice, i lean slightly towards the x pac for the added weather resistance and the zippers
So Danny would you say you’d use the 21L xpac the most in an EDC capacity over the waxed canvas or cordura
Thank you for watching! It’s tough to say since I’ve had the waxed canvas and cordura versions longer than the xpac and I still reallly love the look and straps on the heritage so it’d be a toss up between that one and the xpac for the added weather resistance and the zippers
Can you school backpacks that you could recommend but also that can be used for travel?
Thank you for watching! I’m a fan of bags like the north face surge, fjallraven raven 28 and baboon city pack for school and also travel

Hi 👋🏻 Danny thank you 🙏🏻 for reviewing this. Is the back panel in X-Pac as well?
Thank you for watching! And Yes the back has xpac on it :)
Which one do you like the most and which one do you use the most between the different fabrics? (Cordura, robic, xpac, ultra, waxed canvas)
Thank you for watching! That’s a tough choice for sure as there’s aspects I love about each. In general my most used would be the waxed canvas heritage (love the aesthetic and straps) and now the xpac gr1 (for the weather resistance, zippers and since it can self stand). What do you recommend I’m looking at the GR1 heritage or this xpac version and why? Much appreciated
Thank you for watching and really tough choice! I love the aesthetic and harness on the heritage, but I still think I would lean slightly towards the xpac for the added piece of mind in the rain, if I lived somewhere where it doesn’t rain much I’d probably go with the heritage
@ base on your answer I’ll buy both. Thank you
Its nicer if they put atleast water bottle hokder on both sides.
Exactly. The lack of bottle holders is an immediate no-go for me, when it comes to backpacks. Not to forget that I would like them to justify the outrageous price level.
Same for me. I own two GR1's. I haven't used one in years.
Goruck makes very good backpacks but the back panels are not at all breathable which is a big problem in very hot weather ( I have a dyneema version) For traveling in Asia I take my ULA ultra dragonfly which is great and I use my Goruck in winter!

VX42 isn't just more robust, but also less crinkly than VX21.
Thank you for watching and good callout!
I like the water resistace aspect of xpac, but the material is very stiff and difficult to break in
Thank you for watching! Definitely a stiffer material but I do like that helps the bag stand on its own :)
I had the first version. Used it for months, but the zippers were so tough even over time. I ended up selling it simply due to how much a pain in the butt the zippers were.
Thank you for watching and that’s unfortunate the zippers were so tough on the original, glad to see Goruck was able to improve that with this release
Nice
Thank you for watching!:)
