Yep, I had to watch the case on another channel and apparently there have been multiple developments in this case since this video. Apparently Houcks brother was also implicated in the murder of Crystal Rogers, along with his friend/employee and possibly some more members of his family. He was finally arrested late last year and multiple people in his family and friend circle have been arrested too. He and his brother are also linked to the murder of Tommy Ballard, Crystal's father.

It’s really childish that people still believe in a magic truth box. Think about the logic of it- if the thing worked, why would there ever, ever ever be innocent people convicted of crimes they did not commit? We should be able to test them all with the magic box and figure out they’re telling the truth.

UPDATE to this case: The FBI took over the case and as of today, August 25th 2021, they've spent two days digging under the driveways of houses Brooks was building when Crystal went missing. At first they were keeping their digging a secret, but then intentionally let the local news see where they were digging. I'd like to think they just want Brooks to know they're digging there.

Just looking at how these cases might be connected, officer Ellis had a child with down syndrome which in some ways might be considered special needs, the second victim was a special education teacher from the school. I don't know if officer Ellis's child was in her class, but that would connect them. Officer Ellis worked the same shift as officer Houck who would be aware of his return home routine, officer Houck's sister in-law goes missing. I don't have enough information to link the Houcks to the school teacher and her daughter but maybe there is a connection, was the daughter used as a baby sitter for Houcks children at any time, perhaps she knew things or overheard something in that year after officer Ellis was killed while looking after the kids. Maybe something worth looking into as it appeared that the most brutal attack was on Samantha the daughter.

What I can't figure is how the Netherland murders factor in. Car seen near the scene and Crystal Rogers' car were both dark colored Impalas which might mean her car was used that night by the one or both of the brothers, but Impalas are also common cars (especially in rental car fleets). Maybe the Houck brothers kill for fun as well as for self-preservation and the Netherland's were targeted because it was just the two of them in the house? Wonder if Ms. Netherland ever had police come out to take a report on the windows and if Officer Houck was the responding officer.

The connection must be law enforcement except the mother and daughter who were a distraction.
The cop at the start was one of the best at his job, then a year on the mother and daughter are killed to distract and mislead the trail. Then Brooke Houck contends to be the sheriff (A contest that is somewhat easier without the top cop).
Him and his lover fall out and she disappears without a trace, and the only person actively looking for her a couple years on and likely to stumble onto something the gets shot precisely enough to kill with the one bullet.
Even the trip to the farm could have been a distraction as he tells the cops he was there with her earlier that day, then goes there after the interview, while shes probably buried the exact opposite side of the town.

We live in a world where, in a different kind of case, a woman's VERY well connected rapist (connections all the way to the governor, the local law plus the judge who heard the case)...was awarded custody of the child that resulted from the rape. The rape was proven. It was a matter of record. He waited a number of years to seek custody. Was it because he knew about the child and was thinking in a few short years, the kid would be sixteen, too, just like her mother was when he raped her?& There were allegations that he began molesting the girl. Btw, the kid's mom, his original victim, was forced to pay her rapist child support...though he had wealth and she had very little income from her job. She was forced to go into debt to pay child support to her rapist. Meetings about the rapist's subsequent demands and his allegations about his victim were held in the judge's chambers...I guess so there would be fewer witnesses and so that the injustice didn't reflect badly on the judge. They thought the young mom would be too crushed and too afraid of the powerful folks behind her rapist to speak up. They were wrong.
Right doesn't always prevail in our judicial system. And unless a victim who has been wronged by that system gets the attention of the public and the financial support of a victims organization, most folks wronged by the system never get anything but injustice.

as someone who’s from Bardstown, i think it’s really important that these wonderful people who so wrongfully died, get the recognition they deserve, and i hope one day they get justice. I almost completely forgot about Mrs. Netherland, i was in that same school, about 4th grade, and I never personally spoke to her, a close friend of mine was special needs and she was his teacher. it was awful to see how hurt he was, and how many lives she helped. she was always so kind from what my friend told me. it makes me sick honestly. also by the way, the elementary school rebuilt their playground in honor of her, which is amazing. as for Crystal Rogers, i remembered driving through town and everyone had signs saying ‘Please come home Crystal’ and ‘we’re look for you Crystal’ and they had those signs up for YEARS. it’s so surreal, seeing people finally talking about these poor innocent people, some of who i walked by every day.
