Insurance has become a joke. Americans are overcharged on insurance and taxes. Both of which conveniently mandated.

@@lettygova2803 What the right wingers dont mention is that the winds LA received which they haven't received in over 20 years are so strong that you could have 300% more firefighters and all the water in the world, you were NOT stopping these fires.. that's like trying to throw money at a Category 5 hurricane in deep Red Florida or Georgia or Louisiana.. stop politicizing mother nature
I saw the future... Native Californian here, sold our house, and moved my family out 8 years ago, thank god!
Joe Rogan said the same thing on clip he had on - A firefighter years ago told him "If the conditions right this whole place will go in a fire storm." This was about 6, 7 yrs ago, and was one of reason he moved to Texas.

Arizona has been overtaken by californians, and it's starting to hurt our community. They may leave that state, but they keep voting the same way, expecting a different result.

If you want to know whether something is a risk, don't ask the government. Ask an insurance company. They literally have to know the risk, or they will go out of business. Last year State Farm stated exactly why they stopped selling insurance in the Palisades; they practically predicted these fires, and gave the reasons why it was risky. Why didn't the authorities do anything to fix the problem then?
Governor Newsom would not permit any mitigation efforts to clean up underbrush/brush. Back in the 60's-90's if you didn't have a 200-foot perimeter of 'cleared' area around a residential home, the home owner/loan holder would be fined up to $2,000 per year and your fire insurance on your policy could be dropped.
The left
Because they MAKE $$$$$ off of these "decisions", They funnel $$$ into their pet projects which builds them political Capital and let infrastructure fall apart.. then these disasters happen. FEMA comes in and dumps BILLIONS for them to rebuild and they can again funnel $$$ to their supporters... wait need a building permit, the new house plan has to be approved and other permit, a waste water permit, a temporary electrical hook up permit to build, then another permanent electrical hook up permit, a waste removal permit, haul off what is left of your burnt house you pay the dump, Oh, the house was built before 1970 so it had lead paint and asbestos insulation... another permit. Phone lines and fiber optic internet cable hook up have to be inspected by the city, Oh, your car caught on fire in the garage too, that is hazardous waste and to remove it needs a permit, and then new taxes on your new car and licenses and plates. We have 140,000 buildings to replace and a 5 year backlog of permits... we need emergency funding to hire hundreds of people now... that will never be fired... which raises their annual budget. MEANWILE nothing will get done about the actual problem because it takes about a DECADE for the underbrush and leaf build up to get to a point of being an actual threat after it was all burnt off now so it is somebody else problem a decade from now.
They did not want to upset the environmentalists. What an absurd mistake in priorities.
Very true. That was one clear indication that “Covid” was not a thing; insurance companies don’t care if you’ve “had Covid” or not.
I'm Canadian. Trudeau stepped down because of pressure from within his own party. The governor of California won't go anywhere until there is pressure from within. And that absolutely needs to happen.
Look at the way they vote. They are far from “pressure within”

My sister is in the San Fernando Valley and her insurance dropped her in December. She got new coverage this past weekend...two days before the fires started. Her boss was also dropped and was "getting to it" but didnt do it before this week. His house is now gone...this is horrific on so many levels!!!!
its like how they vote has actual consequences or something
If the boss has a mortgage he's automatically insured. The mortgage holder also gets the notice of cancellation and will immediately apply coverage. They will not let it sit without insurance
And the ones who are insured are probably going to find nothing when they file their claim. Sadly only the rich and powerful who can lawyer up well, will get their insurance to pay out.
As a Los Angelino Refugee it makes me so sad and mad that because of Democrats I fled the state. I loved my hometown and its in ruins. My childhood Palisades house went up and not a single house is in sight for blocks.
By 2030 You’ll Own Nothing and Be Happy
True story, my friend from Palisades got his insurance policy canceled 2 months ago and now his house is rubble and ashes. The dude is 53 yrs old, he worked since his was 19 yrs old to buy his dream home near the beach. Now, he lost everything he had worked for the last 34 years. I wonder which politician, who cut the brush clearance budget, is going to hand my friend a 3 million dollar check to rebuild his house. California is run by a bunch of incompetent politicians.
His insurance policy was cancelled because they knew they were going to burn it down soon. This fire was no accident. Neither was Hawaii.

I live in Northern California. I was a State Farm customer for 35 years. Never late on my homeowners insurance. For 35 years I had zero claims. They dropped me two years ago.
Well between fire risk, earthquake risk, flood risk in some areas along with auto accidents, the number of uninsured (also no licence in many cases) involved in auto accidents, home, business & auto vandalism, auto thefts, all the thefts period it would be impossible to even make liability payments. Not to mention any of the above requiring more than liability. Everything combined Im suprised anyone can get any coverage for anything in that state. Between govt policies & prices/inflation its not feasible for ppl to pay or for them to offer coverage
In central Florida. Same never filed a claim in my life and then they forced me to get a new roof when my 18 year old roof was totally fine. Then they just leave Florida all together.
Who'd they drop you?
You insure it. You insure your own risk . Insurance companies have been leaving California for a reason. Too much risk
Each year you pay for 1 year coverage. Now, they are not getting enough to justify the risk. Pushing everybody into a state plan means it goes bust in a major disaster.
I'm a Republic native Californian. We complain all the time about forest mis management. About wasting our tax dollars . On woke agenda.
And the incompetent political leaders keep getting reelected.

A Petition Drive and a Collective Class Action Suit. ( Strength in Numbers )
The reason why there are multi, multi-million dollar suits is that entities are so large and rich and corrupt, it is the only way the Law, Judges can punish them to the point of them actually hurting. Ever met a playground bully or a rebellious defiant lesbian? I had to threaten a lesbian pair to file a lien on their remodel because they were on a lesbian power trip and thought they were not going to pay me for my hard labor in their investment.
They made sure we met in public at a Dairy Queen to give me my money and even then the money lesbian that was the secret partner to the lesbian Real Estate Broker tried to tell me how much she was going to pay me.
I swear she wet herself. Ive never seen someone so scared in my life. She had to use the point of her other index finger to guide the point of her writing instrument she was shaking so bad. So defiant even in that terrifying moment for her, so disgustingly stoic and pugnacious.

Insurance companies refuse to cover Republicans in Florida. What does this have to do with a political party lmao
We sold our house in the fire area 5 months ago. If we didn't sell and lost the house we would be living in a van, no joke. The house was all the money we had. I can't imagine what is gonna happen to most people . California was already hurting
Do you know if it burnt down?
Moved from California to North Dakota. The weather isn’t worth; shitty people, high cost of living, homelessness everywhere, mental illness being normal, rampant drug use, crime, safety, gas prices, food prices… when it’s below 0 outside I literally tell myself, “at least we’re not in California anymore.”
Peace, tranquility and nature in ND 😊
You have a great way of looking at winter cold. I may start using that line of thinking too…hate winter, except for the fact that it kills off the bugs in summer.
Yep & its amazing how many already homeless ppl go out of their way to move to Cali & the weather is one of the main reasons they claim for doing so. Which means they have no intention of trying to change their situation because that would be one of the hardest states to get on your feet/back on your feet in

I live in California I was dropped in April of 2024, there are insurance companies in the state that will provide fire insurance in any fire zone, because the state would not allow insurance companies to up premiums due to fire risk because of the states poor forest management.
I’ve been paying $500 a year for fire insurance for the last eight years never missed a payment and now I have to purchase from the state for $7000 a year .
Make it make sense
This was their plan all along. Handcuff private industry and come in at alarming rate and say "well at least we will cover". Meanwhile your previous carrier was probably looking for something like 8%-12% rate increase and the state blocks it so your carrier gets out if dodge.
Time to move.

Limited Brush Management Removal canceled by the LA County and City of LA wasted on Homeless Spending.
The irony is they now created more homeless people after this fire as none of them have fire insurance. Tax payers will now live with drug addicts on the street thanks to these democrats in office
Illegal invaders got the money
No it wasn't spent on homeless. It was stolen and wasted.
Homelessness is a cash cow for NGOs ! That pat themselves on the backs for doing nothing but taking six figure paychecks … scammers
Yes, there may be grounds for a lawsuit against the government if it can be demonstrated that the suspension or inadequacy of brush management removal programs directly contributed to the loss of homes in the recent wildfires. Such a lawsuit would likely hinge on several legal factors and claims:
Legal Basis for a Lawsuit
1. Negligence by Government Entities
• A case could argue that the City of Los Angeles or LA County failed in their duty of care to prevent foreseeable dangers, such as wildfires, by not allocating sufficient resources for brush management.
• Negligence claims require proof that:
1. The government had a duty (e.g., enforcing brush clearance laws).
2. The duty was breached (e.g., by canceling or inadequately funding the program).
3. The breach caused harm (e.g., loss of homes due to increased fire risk).
4. There were damages (e.g., property loss).
2. Failure to Prioritize Public Safety
• If it is proven that funds for wildfire prevention, such as brush clearance, were diverted to other programs without adequate safeguards, this could constitute a failure to prioritize public safety.
3. Inverse Condemnation
• Under California law, property owners may sue the government for inverse condemnation if government actions or inactions (e.g., failure to maintain infrastructure or implement fire prevention measures) caused or contributed to the destruction of private property.
4. Violation of Brush Clearance Laws
• If local governments did not enforce their own brush clearance ordinances, they could face legal challenges for failing to meet mandated safety standards.
5. Loss of Emergency Services
• Budget cuts to firefighting or fire prevention services could be argued as gross mismanagement, especially if it directly resulted in reduced readiness or response capabilities.
Challenges in Filing a Lawsuit
• Government Immunity: In many cases, government entities are protected by sovereign immunity, which limits their liability. However, exceptions may apply if gross negligence or reckless disregard for public safety can be demonstrated.
• Causation: Plaintiffs would need to prove a direct link between the lack of brush management and the destruction caused by the fire.
• Weather and Natural Causes: The government may argue that the fire was primarily caused by extreme weather (e.g., Santa Ana winds) or other uncontrollable natural factors.
Potential Legal Remedies
• Compensation for Damages: Plaintiffs may seek compensation for property losses, emotional distress, and other damages.
• Policy Changes: Lawsuits can push for changes in government policies to ensure better fire prevention in the future.
• Injunctions: Courts could order the government to reinstate or enhance brush management programs.
Steps to Take
1. Document Evidence:
• Gather evidence linking the lack of brush clearance to the fire’s severity.
• Collect government documents or reports showing suspended programs or diverted funds.
2. Consult Legal Experts:
• Contact a lawyer specializing in wildfire lawsuits, negligence, or government liability.
3. Class-Action Lawsuit:
• If multiple homeowners were affected, a class-action lawsuit may be more effective.
Conclusion
While pursuing legal action is possible, the success of such a lawsuit will depend on the strength of the evidence, the extent of the government’s duty, and the ability to prove causation. It’s advisable to consult an experienced attorney to explore the legal options in depth.
I don't understand how people are required to have insurance, pay the money and then have a claim denied or policy canceled without warning or reason.
They can require all they want, but they can never force you to have it
@matthewrodgers740 But then you guarantee no coverage. So would you rather risk no coverage at all or gamble on having a policy rescinded or denied? What is the percentage of denied or canceled policies across the board? If the risk outweighs the reward, then I would argue it ain't worth it.
Can they withdraw it without any notice ?
@@SuperPerfectMan Yes. Heard and read stories about it. For that reason, I would argue it's theft. You paid for a service and can't use it when necessary.

It’s because of state regulations, and high house prices. Surprise, companies aren’t going to stay in business if they’re losing money. That’s California’s fault, not insurance companies. These are the ramifications for voting democrat no matter what
What do you mean "no valid reason"? They have to give one on your nonrenewal. Chances are it was risk management. Might that risk management be for, I don't know, tornadoes and hail? Maybe they have too many eggs in the basket that is your ZIP code and your house might be older than others. There are lots of reasons than "no valid reason."
Regarding your auto insurance, did you happen to notice that all prices over the past few years went up roughly 20%? That's not a coincidence.

I can't even imagine how high house insurance will go up around the country.
Fire insurance for a half million dollar home is 1.6k a month. Home ins is another 1.2. Fire premiums will tack on another 2-400 per month. The mortgage with high interest rates is around 4k per month. It’s about 10k to live a middle class life, for just the home. Plus property tax and all other taxes…if that gives you an idea.
I wondering… when insurance carriers drop you and your mortgage because of high risk factors and there are no other carriers willing to insure your active mortgage, what happens then. How do the banks react to this? Do they take insurance matters into their own hands and then turn around and drastically raise your payments? I honestly don’t know. 🤔
@unicornfarts3103 dude what the hell are u talking about
If they're not paying anybody why would the insurance go up?

I was working as an architect and designer in Ukraine. This is how things are built in socialistic countries! They make it harder to get a permit. Then you finally give up and try to bribe. And it doesn't take too long before bribery is a part of the logistics of how it's done. I wonder if that is how they want corruption to become a part of the system. And then it's just hard to get out.
Isn't the last fire Chief there still in jail for taking bribes, the deputy mayor, the Council Member of the developments board was taking bribes? The LA times has a pretty good article on it.
I just posted the same thing. I am a Permit Expeditor and Zoning Consultant
The "Democratic Party" that is governing the state are the American socialists. Their policies caused this disaster. It is a man-made disaster to ignore expert warnings and instead of using common-sense preventative measures they blame it on climate change, etc. There is no fundamental difference between their policies and Communism. It's just a matter of degree...

Larry Elder for Governor of California. As to Insurance, My father paid off his house, and canceled his home insurance. That was 60 years ago. by not paying Insurance, He saved 1,440,000. DOLLARS. Insurance is a racket!
Agree insurance is a racket but I hate to tell you your numbers are way off If your dad was paying $1,000 a year on average for 60 years that would be $60,000. By your numbers your dad's an average homeowners insurance policy is $24,000 a year for 60 years.
That house would not have been built without insurance. Nothing gets built, no one gets hired, products don't move, society comes to a grinding halt without insurance. You have literally no idea what you are talking about.
@@afry807 If he invested that money over 60 years it’s possible.
@@joshros your only required to have insurance if you have a mortgage. The banks require it.
That's a lie. Society existed for centuries without insurance. Communities used to build home themselves using the nature and resources around them.Insurance is a scam where the insurer convinces you to pay for something you may need in the future with a bunch of stipulations and no guarantee the insurer will have to pay out promised money when you need it whether you get in a car accident and need a rental /new car, life insurance to bury you when you die, or home insurance when your home needs to be fixed. They also have lobbyists making it mandatory to have car insurance to own a vehicle or homeowners insurance to get approved for a home. So you're paying on average $400 to $500 years on average for something the insurance company is not guranteed to give you and can drop your coverage whenever they want. However if you take that same money you pay monthly, semiannually, and annually and save that $400 to $500 over the course of 20 years, that's $96,000 to $120,000 plus interest that you can use to pay to get things fixed around your home faster without waiting around to play the insurance companies games or enough money saved for your family to bury you. The only thing about the home owners insurance is that you can't drop it until your house is paid for.
We Noped out of Oregon 3 years ago. We love WI! One of the most resilient states in the country.
This isn’t on the insurers. This is on the state. The state has made it so bad that insurance companies can’t afford to cover the risk. Insurance companies aren’t some angels who have no culpability but Cali has been run into the ground.
It's on the insurance, you're literally paying for a service which they then refuse to provide. The blame is also on the state, but these insurance companies is net billions a year. This is BS

@ no you paid for coverage which they gave you in case anything happened. It then did not happen. Then because of bad policy the insurance company said in order to cover you we have to raise rates. The state said you can’t raise the rates because of us so the insurance company said later. If something had happened when people were covered then insurance refused ti pay that’s one thing. But that’s not what happened.

I feel for these people. I went through a total loss last year after my landlord hired an uninsured roofer who flooded my apartment. I had personal renters and business insurance because I’m a self employed photographer, my equipment costs more than my car. My insurance both renters and business denied my claims, landlords insurance denied my claim, roofer didn’t have insurance. I lost everything including my savings spending 40k just trying to fight insurance company and my landlord for negligence. This was last January and i still haven’t recovered financially. Insurance is sick because a nice person like your neighbor can sell you a policy and make you think you’re smart and going to be ok only to find out they’ve hidden clauses that even your own lawyers can’t understand that exclude just about everything you’d use your policy for. Disgusting.
We live in not cal in a zero risk area and lost homeowners because “fire risk” it’s ridiculous here!! We found other insurance for now but this has to change!!
Why would any insurance company stay in a state that practically burns to the ground EVERY year and that state refuses to do anything about it.
Same with hurricanes right?
@ yup, but good forest and water management won’t really do much for hurricanes. But you KNOW they will mitigate fires.
@@DMallthewayhurricane exposure is easier to mitigate. A lot of companies won’t write coastal risks and this helps a lot. Way harder to mitigate wildfire risk

My home fire insurance got dropped and I’m not even in a fire zone. This fires will have many people living in the streets. Newsom was worried about DEI and drug addicts having homes that now tax payers will involuntarily be living on the streets with those drug addicts because of his poor leadership. He’s causing more avoidable homelessness
I have talked to people from previous fires. State condemns the land, then as the owner the state takes any insurance money. They then put up multi family migrant housing to control voter districts. Nobody's getting a dime. Unless you site on your land with a shotgun you are not rebuilding

Left Northern California for Idaho after 40 years. The hardest part of the transaction.. the buyer getting insurance on our old house. So crazy
Crazy, I don't think so. Deliberate more like. I live in Sydney Australia, the most fire prone Continent on this planet. Insurance costs here rocketing and home insurance in mapped and gazetted hazardous High Fire Danger areas rapidly becoming beyond most home owners . I note that Insurance is the provenance of the neo-liberal Globalist Insurance Companies, the elite who support the WEF and their dangerous WOKE ideology. Say no more. We feel for the people of California at the mercy of political determinations. We have just in recent past had our water pressure reduced by Government along the designated fire fronts, meaning these most vulnerable properties in the Flame Zones will have no water guaranteed during a fire attack. If there was fire coverage excluded from cover, all of the insurance companies were surely aware how bad the fire management procedures were and actively chose to exclude it from their policy as all insurance companies have insurance themselves which pays out. This is a combined effort between the government in lack of prep and the insurance companies not providing cover for people who clearly need it. Disgusting
The concept of property insurance was born in London after the Great Fire of London and it underwrote the peril of fire (obviously). That is the most basic peril covered in any property policy.
Edit: I just read the rest of your screed. I don't think you have a clue what you're talking about. They can't exclude the peril of fire just willy-nilly. It's the MOST BASIC peril - an unendorsed DP-1 (ie, Basic Dwelling form) covers it. Now step back from your ledge of conspiracy. JFC!

If there was reports of high winds which could forecast a significant fire event, the LAFD has been defunded, the water dispersion systems are not able to contain the spread of the fire and Insurers who cover more than just property policies are going to protect themselves against a catastrophic loss which would bankrupt the industry and mean that no other coverage could be given to anyone😭.

How do you work for insurance companies and not realize they get money by NOT covering what people need and instead make money by covering what people DONT need??
@@benricard1 No offense, but what you said makes no sense. People need coverage for fire and insurers cover that as the most basic thing. If you want that covered, get a home warranty.
The insurance companies got it right. The risk was so high that it’s uninsurable. That should have been a signal for local and state officials to address the problem: Update water resources, update electric grid, Install back up generators for the water system, clear the biomass fuel from the brush, Fully fund, the fire department and hire the best firefighters, and remove biomass from the forest, etc.
The same thing happening NOW ColoradoSprings and Colorado. In ColoradoSprings we had Waldo canyon fire, and Hayman fire. Insurance companies said either fix and mitigate brush or we are gone. One of the times I'm with ADAM - been to LA to visit fam many times - we here in New Orleans have pumping stations near the lake and river to pump water out when heavy rains threaten floods - why don't they do the same in LA to pump water in - salt water is corrosive and does not have the cooling properties of fresh but it is most abundant there in case of EMERGENCIES like this!!! This way, fresh water is conserved and salt puts the fire out!
That’s what President Trump has been suggesting.
Salt will also kill the vegetation and, probably, lead to land slides and poisoned soil.

At this point home insurance might as well be in property taxes. At best insurance is a complete waste of money and when you actually need it the companies will spend more money to not do their job than to do it.
