    You need to know that you are one of the inspirations for me starting my own Microlocks , I was about to shell out between $750 and $1100 to have Sisterlock Installed, I will install it and I wouldn’t mind paying for maintenance

    All I can say is you have a lot of patience. Lol I do locks professionally and I happily sit in someone else's chair for my reties every 6-8 weeks. I attempted my own retie ONCE in 5 years and it took me 7 hrs just for the front half and I said NOPE 🤣 let me get on these books. I can do other's hair in 3 hours who have more locks than I do.

  • @mayfulgal
    @mayfulgal 4 роки тому +36

    It takes me 3 days from 6am to 8pm for a full retie and I usually end up with severe neck pain for a few hours but it saves me money lol. Nice results!

    I re tighten every 6 weeks and I break it up into 4 days so that I don’t get frustrated and start pulling out randoms locs lol. Your hair looks great! Tfs!

    The crimped look is great on you! I love how we can witness all of the learning curves you’re experiencing. & of course with time, you’ll be able to shave some time off of that 14 hours. Once my hair’s long enough I’m definitely sisterlocking my hair. Microlocs are beautiful but the size of the locs in the back of your head are more my alley, even just a bit bigger would be good. Can’t wait for your next video!

    Please use the "Revair " to stretch and dry your Loc's in a video tutorial. I am looking forward to seeing you dry your hair with the "RevAir". I throughly enjoy how the RevAir works on my loose natural hair that I am going to interlock when I have purchased all of the supplies, book and tools that you suggested!
    Thank you for sharing all of this wonderful information!

    I imagine it might take longer for me, I'm installing right now and I have to take frequent breaks because I have no upper body strength to speak of. I've only completed the back of my mid length hair so far and I was in so much pain I had to take a day off.

    Just out of curiosity, why not mix oils into your shampoo for scent? I've seen it done with others that have diy micro locs (I'd have to go through my history to find them). With it being watered down, I figured the idea wouldn't hurt. BTW I'm so glad you're doing this. I have traditional locs and am about to have them taken down for micros. Due to the length, I'm going to be doing the installation myself and the length of your hair is about where mine will be after the take down. Your retirement looks awesome, can't wait for your next update.

    • @QueenEleem
      @QueenEleem  4 роки тому +6

      I don’t want to add oils to my head bc I’m trying to follow the sisterlocks method of maintaining starter locks as closely as possible. So that means no oils if I don’t hair dry scalp/itch. I’m trying to encourage my hair to loc as fast as possible since the length of my hair will slow down the locking process. Everything I’ve watched /read says avoid oils in starter locks for at least 6 months.

  • @Lopermau

    To distribute the diluted shampoo, using an applicator bottle with a narrow tip might be easier than using a spray bottle.
    Also, regarding the reti "algorithm": You went horizontal row by row this time, but suppose you used another sectioning method next time (e.g. vertical rows?). Do you think there could be differences in the two methods in how each individual loc gets isolated, which could then cause irregularities in your grid? Are you concerned about maintaining grid perfection?
    I know that's sort of an involved question, haha. It's not criticism, but curious rumination. In any case, you've done a beautiful job!

    • @QueenEleem
      @QueenEleem  4 роки тому +2

      No worries! I love involved Qs! Not SUPER concerned with my grid but I would like to keep it as straight as possible. The front and top are where I use a mirror since that’s where I part my hair.

    Don't be disappointed, you'll get faster with time. Maybe next time it will take 12 hours and just 10 the time after that. The semi-circle method is what I do too.

    When you wash your hair how do you get the soap into the braided banded hair to get it as clean as possible? I’m going to be on my loc journey soon and was curious. Thanks

    • @QueenEleem
      @QueenEleem  4 роки тому

      I put my shampoo into a water bottle and spray at the roots and a little at the braid. The trick is getting it out. I usually put my head under the tub faucet in order to use the water pressure rather than my shower head. Also sometimes I’ll just glom my cheap suaves clarifying on the roots and lather if I feel like my head still isn’t clean after the second wash. But that’s usually only after going to the beach/swimming

    also it's okay to be "fuzzy" since you said your hair grows slower you should probably be waiting 6 weeks for a retie. your hair is GORG (you won't have much itching if the hair is NOT to tight-stylist and perople make that mistake) also if you don't put product in it no oil almost no rose water etc) you won't have itching.

      If you like them do them! But in regards to a “male version” there are locs called brotherlocks. Which (correct me if I’m wrong anyone) are larger slightly sisterlocks, so larger overall but still with 3 different sizes.
