I’ve never braided and banded my microlocs ever and they are just fine.
Braiding and banding helped me. I had to retwist my entire head because I did not braid and band (a two-day process). I learned my lesson, lol. I cannot wait until I am at the phase of no more braiding and banding!
I completely understand, it did help me avoid unravelling somewhat, but it left me with sticky hair too! It just didn't work for me but I do think it's a good method to use generally.
I just did these exact same things. The braiding and banding did not work for me at all and I just did my 2nd loose shampoo and then braid it up to air dry & I absolutely love it & this is the only way I will do it for now on

This makes sense to me. I have been my loc journey for 4 months and HATE braiding and banding because my hair never feels properly clean. I will try braiding and banding immediately after washing it loose as you've done.
I know it doesn't work for everyone, we have to do what works for us!

Hi there, excuse the late reply! Unfortunately, that's the danger of not braiding and banding, I've experienced that too. It doesnt bother me too much, I'm planning on trimming the bunching off over time.
Hi Curly Closet..are you noticing after wash day that your roots are marrying together? Do you go through & separate your locs to help with this?
Yes, the same happens to me, I purposely go through and separate to keep the locs from matting together!
Did braiding and banding work for you?
I never braided and banded with my first set of locs. Second set, I didn’t for 2 months and resumed doing it after a few washes. I hate doing it but I like seeing it reduce the puffiness of my ends/slippage.
For how long you keep your microloc please
