    Owning a detail company get to test lots of other ceramic coatings sent from ambitious sales reps just because I want to see how my Adams stuff stacks up against the rest of the products out there. My cars have all been coated and polished off a bunch of times. I can say that I always keep coming back to Adams Graphene. It is the easiest to work with, easiest to buff and level and looks fantastic when its done. Feels epic after it cures and I have been very happy with Adams!

    Any idea on the actual longevity of the Adams Graphene Ceramic coating? I did the entire process including fallout remover, clay bar, orbital polish, wash with strip wash, rinse and wipe down with isopropyl alcohol and again with Adam's Surface prep. Coating lasted maybe 6 months - 9 months on the majority of the vehicle. Box sides and tail gate of F-450 maintained hydrophobic properties longer than doors, front, etc. Prep on the truck took my about 20 hours in total. Ceramic took about an hour.
    I did my wife's car in the same manner and it last about the same. This is supposedly a 7+ year 10H coating - what could I have done wrong? Strip wash and surface prep should have been a perfect base for coating?
    Maintained with basic car wash detergent and CS3. I feel like the CS3 was the only reason the water would bead as long as it did. What could I have done wrong?

    My opinion is that Adam's Graphene Ceramic Coating is as good as it gets, I have been waxing cars all my life and this beats them all. HOWEVER, I found a much easier way to remove high spots without using Adam's expensive polish and power buffers. Buy a bottle of Meguiar's Fine Cut Cleaner #2 and rub it gently into high spots using a folded paper towel and buff off with a microfiber cloth. Repeat as needed, using minimal pressure. I had a dozen high spots on my Cadillac after applying the coating and letting it on too long, using the polish and power buffer was an effort in futility. Meguiar's does the trick!

      Also, just be aware that these videos are meant to be used as a selling tool. So far, for me, none of their vids are entirely accurate. In fact, the ceramic window coating has ruined my windshield. Not Adam’s fault, but they failed to mention that ALL the micro pits will now show up. The coating gets in the pits (I’m talking about the ones that weren’t visible before) and can not be removed. I have tried everything to remove them with no luck so far.

    Great tutorial. The only question I can think of is: In spots where one may not care what the paint looks like, is there any benefit to applying the advanced graphene heavier and letting it cure without fully wiping/leveling? IE under rocker panels. Will a heavier coat perform better/longer, or would it negate how the formula is designed to work?

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  5 місяців тому +1

      Sorry for the delayed response! No, you need to wipe away all residue. Applying it heavy and letting it cure without wiping away the residue will leave a large amount of solvents on the surface that can damage the paint - high spots, cloudiness, stains, or worse. You can certainly apply it more heavy in those areas, but you do need to wipe away the residue off of all surfaces. You could apply a second layer 1-2 hours after the first layer, but the law of diminishing returns applies - the first layer somewhat rejects the second layer from bonding as well, so that is why a second layer will feel like it is much easier to wipe away the residue.

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  9 місяців тому +5

      Yes, you can apply the coating to mirrors, however for side mirrors, the coating can cause hundreds of small water beads during rain, which can sometimes impair vision. I stick to Glass Cleaner or Brilliant Glaze on side mirrors.

    When it comes time for the final buff-out.....would it be even better to use an orbital buffer with a microfibre bonnet?

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  5 місяців тому +2

      You could, but in our experience, using large microfiber bonnets to remove polish residue may not get into corners and crevices as easily as using a microfiber towel by hand. We also recommend using our Surface Prep spray to ensure that all polish residue has been removed from all surfaces to be coated.

    So quick question for you guys… let’s say a “friend” while ceramic coating a vehicle accidentally used the glass ceramic coating on part of the hood after coating the windshield. What’s the best way to remove the glass coating from the paint to apply the proper ceramic coating. The hood definitely beads up nicely when trying to wash off the wrong coating even after polishing. Need to compound the paint and start the process over again?

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  5 місяців тому +2

      Hi there, sorry we missed this question! If you haven't already handled this, yep you can remove the coating with our blue Compound and a Blue Foam Pad or Microfiber Cutting Pad - it shouldn't take too much effort to remove the Graphene Glass Coating from paint, since it is only really designed to bond to glass.

    Well I thought I was doing a good job until a few days later I looked at the truck at dusk. Streaks like a MOFO!!! Apparently there are streaks you don’t see in direct sunlight, but you do see in the shade. 😩 I have to repolish 2/3 of the entire truck and redo. 😭

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Carl! Congrats on the new Camaro! We would very strongly encourage to machine polish the car first to remove any swirl marks and light scratches. Black paint can show swirl marks easily, and even a brand new vehicle may have some light scratches and swirl marks from transportation, dealership washes, etc. If you notice any types of swirl marks or scratches when the Camaro is out in the sunlight, they will still be there if you were to just apply a ceramic coating without polishing it first. You may just be able to use our White Foam Pad and white Polish on about speed 4 on a random orbital polisher like our Swirl Killer Polisher, or you may need to move up to a Blue Foam Pad and blue Compound if there are some deeper imperfections. If you are hesitant to use a machine polisher, you could use our white Polish with a Blue Hex Grip Hand Applicator, but you may not achieve results as good as machine polishing. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    • @villagesautodetail
      @villagesautodetail 9 місяців тому

      I have used the Graphene over both PPF and Vinyl and it looks fantastic. Just keep in mind it will add a gloss luster. So if its a matte wrap that just goes with the territory. The plus is that even on a matte wrap, it makes the color of the vinyl just pop just like it does on paint!

    Would you recommend using the white polish on the entire car prior to applying the coating? ty

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  5 місяців тому +2

      Hi Bill, yes going over the vehicle with the white Polish and a White Foam Pad will certainly bring out more gloss and depth and leave the surface bare and more smooth for the coating to bond better to the surface! You can use Compound prior to the white Polish if you need to address oxidation, scratches, swirl marks, etc.

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  9 місяців тому +2

      Hi Violet, yes you can apply our Graphene Ceramic Coating on vinyl wraps. On matte and satin vinyl, we would recommend using our Graphene Spray Coating instead, since it is much easier to work with on vinyl, and you will have less chance of streaks or high spots. The coatings do not bond to vinyl in the same way they do paint or clear coat, so you could expect 1-3 years on vinyl before you would want to reapply. I like to use our spray coating every 6 months on vinyl wraps 👍
