    Hi Gabi 😊 I love you even more now (lol). I have been doing my roots at a salon for years - I was going every 3 weeks and all in, my total bill was $180. I recently decided to start coloring my own hair at home in between salon visits - my hairdresser noticed of course - the owner of the salon overheard our conversation, came over and said to me if I continue to color my hair at home don't bother coming back. So I never went back which is why I appreciate you and this video. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of respect for hairdressers but it was just starting to get to costly and was hoping for other options rather than, don't come back. I also wanted to ask your opinion on the brand Herbatint - sold at Shoppers, is this a good brand? Thank you once again Gabi, have a beautiful day 💕

    • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  Рік тому +31

      Wow are you serious?!? They told you not to come back? That is absolutely horrible. I just don’t understand that. I could see them telling you that due to the box dye, you may have limitations as to what you are able to do next with your color, but you should have never been sent away. That’s not right. People need to check their ego and their privilege. As for the color - I am so sorry. I use I could help but I’ve never tried it before.

    • @antoniarebelo6703

      @@GlamGirlGabi Yes she did - maybe she didn't think I would take her seriously, but when I asked her why she said it will compromise the results of their products. I started with root touch ups every 6 weeks, then once a month and about 2 years now it was every 3 weeks ( sometimes 2 if I had an event) - it was just getting too costly for me. It was a little embarrassing and she try to reach out to me over the summer but I am not sure what options she could provide me with that's why I am doing it at home for the time being - I am trying to see if I can find another salon. This is also why I am so happy I found your channel, and I appreciate you. So I have been using this Herbatint but I will try the brand you used today for future as I trust your recommendation more than I trust myself...lol. I don't know anything about coloring hair - but I'm learning. Thanks again Gabi - you are awesome ❣

    2.) can you use semi permanent hair color on the gray roots to get some coverage in btw visits to the salon so it’s less damaging but knowing it just won’t last as long?

When I had my salon, I used to offer a “root and run” package where they could get their grey roots applied, washed and they would leave wet. It saved me loads of time and it saved the clients loads of money. You could always ask your stylist if she could offer that for you to save money long term.

    • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  Рік тому +5

      Hey! You would do the exact same thing. You would paint the roots with your natural color in a permanent (keeping it as neat and tidy as you can and only painting the roots so you don't eliminate your highlights too far down) and you would tone the ends with a direct dye in a lighter color (like an ash blonde, honey blonde, etc.). When it comes to bringing the highlights back up, you would likely have to see your stylist.That is super complicated to do at home.

You need to rinse/wash away any leftover color to ensure an all over even appearance & the conditioner helps restore the hairs natural moisture that might have been removed during the coloring process. Always start with clean, dry hair too! 💗

    Hi from BC! Gabi, I'm 60 and have let my white/silver/grey grow out to about my ears now, and the leftover colour is a medium/light warm brown (which I don't really like, rather yellow; would prefer ash and lowlights). Now i have a white top, basically, and after trying it out for a few months I've decided... i just can't. My regrowth is surprisingly a med/dark grey but only starts halfway down my head, not my scalp. My hair is a long bob (at shoulders) with side-swept bangs, wavy. Is there a way i can get it back to maybe 2 colours (low-lights) on the "top" (a medium/light brown and a slightly darker one, and bring the darker colour onto my "old" coloured hair to kind of blend it all in? Kind of work with what I have) and perhaps keep some of the white around my face and ears? When I say it out loud that seems complicated and time-consuming... and achey arms. 😁

    Hi, I have a question! How often can you dye your hair at home like this? I colored my hair 2 times with 3-4 weeks between those times, and I damaged my hair to the point it burned the ends off in the front of my hair :( I was coloring my greys with a box dye with my natural hair color. It washed off pretty soon so i wanted to do it again and then after a couple of months I realized I wasn't growing baby hairs, it was my "burned off" hair. Still not sure why it happened.

So the front will likely stay on for 50 minutes if it takes you 5 minutes to apply. Start the timer the minute the root colour is applied evenly around the entire head.

    As the hair grows, won’t that dark root color make the kids and ends look dark and get flat eventually? Does that mean we need to add bleach highlight in 3-6 months? Sorry I’m new to this.

      That’s a fantastic question. The answer is variable depending on the porosity of the hair but most likely no because as your hair grows, it fades substantially and you’re not overlapping permanent color. So you’re always applying the direct dye on top of the faded permanent color. It’s not getting darker as it grows because it’s fading. However with that said, adding highlights every once in a while will make it looks super beautiful and more multi tonal.

    I am almost all gray and wanted to do an all over color and add some dimension. Would you suggest first coloring the hair fully with the box dye and then going back a few days later with the glaze?

    Do semi permanent dyes actually wash out of gray? I want to do a temporary change on my salt and pepper grow out .

    Hi Gabi, just found your Chanel, and I’m loving it, you have a new subscriber. I have grey hair which is thinning on top. I stopped coloring because every time I did it, even with a semi permanent color, I noticed I would loose more of my finer hair. The grey is ok, but it really does age you, if you are already in your 60s, to begin with. Any suggestions, is there ant hair dye that will not damage my hair?

    I use Di Vinci permanent color in 7g and 7c. I mix in the red maybe 20 percent. What color would you suggest in the gloss ? I usually just color the roots and only have gray around my hairline. Thank you for sharing.

    So if I aim for a slightly lighter than my natural hair color, how do I prevent the brassy/orange look? Is there something I can do beforehand to prevent that? Ex: I'm a natural 4 dark brown. (Right now, lots of grays though). But want to be a medium ash or medium golden brown. Can I just use the Medium golden brown box color without chaos ensuing. I'm scared. 🙄

    Hello thank you soo much for this video!! Just found you and subscribed now!! Would love your help finding out which ones I can pick up today at the drugstore! I bought dye at Sally’s colour 4NN intense dark brown and mixed 5AA medium double ash brown six months back and did my hair then meeting to do my hair again ASAP!
    I have a lot of greys and would like to do exactly what you’ve done here but with a colour that will be similar to these colours I used previously. Would love to use the gloss for my ends! Would love your feedback on which I should buy.

    If one has to use the grey coverage for the whole hair / head because never using a colour before... can I then use the gloss later for the upside of the gloss results?
    Very concerned about having a flat all over cover.

    Hello so i jacked up my hair ive always gone to a hair salon but as ive gotten older my stubborn whites come out in 3 weeks so the time spent in the salon annoyed me. So I had a beautiful salon bayalage and attempted to do only roots but the medium brown box didnt cover them it just changed the shade to a wierd light brown color like hot roots so then 3 weeks later i bought another box but a cool dark brown and let it sit longer but the root color completely changed the bayalage look so i threw the remaining dye all over and now my hair is black. So A. What at home product with little to no damage will strip the black? B. How do i get my all over color a choc brown color. C. How do i get my white roots to match the all over color should i leave it on the roots longer or use a different color for my roots? Thanks for your help.

    Is the gloss color treatment harmful to permed hair, bc I love my curls, & do not want to lose them more quickly.
