I don't understand how you specifically hear "No, no, it hurts!" along with blood curdling screams and seeing the ex-husbands truck in the driveway, and NOT call the police. Only to come forward with the information DAYS after she was very well known to be missing. What an absolute neanderthal of a neighbor.

Denial is a heck of a drug. If a person doesn’t deal with something they heard or witnessed then they can pretend it didn’t happen; out of sight out of mind.
This pisses me off to no end! I mean how can somebody hear a life and death scream and ignore it. There is a huge difference how a person in pain, fear, or fright screams. Its not like hearing a loud fight or a baby crying, it gives you chills and once you hear it YOU are their only lifeline. I could never live with myself if I did nothing!
In my hickville hometown, we had a guy who had bipolar. His solution to the mania was to decorate his wacky home (which he and his wife sometimes allowed tours in), and for the depression he'd ride a bike around town blowing bubbles. (Maybe I have those flipped, these are childhood memories.) All the kids knew him as "the Bubble Man!" Seeing kids cheer and jump with joy lifted his spirits through the dark days. I was Diagnosed with bipolar more than a decade ago after my first manic episode. I remember very clearly what my thoughts were during my manic episode. I thought I was an alien captured on earth being experimented on. I thought I could talk to my neighbors dogs. I thought I was Sun Wu Kong, the legendary monkey birth by a rock. I was absolutely insane and had no touch with reality. A lot of people gave up on me as no one really wants to deal with a crazy person and I don’t blame them. Luckily, my mother who had always loved me never gave up on me and took care of me. She spent all the resources and time and dedicated her life to take care of me. I got better and eventually got back to living a normal life (with medication) and got my college degree a few years later. Everything was getting better until 5 years later when I decided to get off meds, big mistake. I had my 2nd manic episode and got verbally aggressive towards my own mother who was the only person who cared for me. I am in tears just thinking about it. But she never gave up on me, she knew I needed help and did everything she could to get me back on meds. I eventually got back on meds and was normal again. I vow to never stop taking medication again after that 2nd episode and have been going strong for 8 years now. Thankfully, I was able to get back to living a normal life and even have a 6 figure paying job. I don’t plan on having my own family because I know if I have a kid, my kid would have a high probability of having bipolar and I wouldn’t want my child to go through life with it. My only goal in life rn is to repay my mother for taking care of me, never giving up on me, and saving my life. I am happy to say that I am able to retire her early in her early 60s and take care of her financially. I am currently saving up and half way there to buy her the house she always wanted. I am sharing my story hoping to spread awareness to people who have loved ones who have bipolar. Please don’t give up on them, get them the medication they desperately need. It’s almost impossible for a bipolar person to get well by themselves if no one truly cared about them. I am blessed I have the best mother in the world, I couldn’t imagine where my life would be without her. I know most bipolar patients won’t have the same love that I got though and I have a lot of empathy for them. Just by reading the comment section and seeing how many people gave up and judge their love ones who have bipolar instead of trying to help them makes me sad. Hopefully, my story can help save another bipolar person who is abandoned by their loved ones to get the help they need.
My brother has bi poker with maniac symptoms and it’s really scary to see cause as far as their concerned you’re trying to kill them. Rn he only talks to my dad out of my whole family and it’s really hard on them. And he’s on meds so idk why he still hates us.
Some things in the world are sad. Some people give up on family members after many, many, many tries. For my sister it’s uncountable, but I just didn’t have anything left. Daughters are different, and your mom only went through it twice. Don’t judge other people’s actions; their situations could be VASTLY different than yours, even though the underlying condition may be the same.
Sadly for most abusers a restraining order is nothing but a worthless piece of paper to them and it won't stop them from causing harm to those they abuse.
In my early 30's I learned that I'm bipolar. The symptoms described in the video are why I swear by my medication, counseling, staying sober, having a drama free life, and being grateful for EVERYTHING in my life. Currently I'm very content. My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends who have been affected by this horrific murder.

i've had bipolar my entire life, through other means i've learned to control it. No need for medication, counseling, staying sober, or any of that. i am one of the lucky few who can do it though not everyone can.
My sister has bi polar, during a violent episode my brothers tried to restrain her and one got his throat cut by her, after that she went and got help. She now has a kid and is engaged, and shes still close with my brothers. Help is a choice to accept, and it really does make a difference.
I feel you on this one. My sister was undiagnosed when she was a teen. Held a knife to my throat after I made a remark about her friend. So yeah, glad she didn't actually cut me.
bipolar isnt inherently violent, those are just violent sick people, i have bipolar 2 and i am the least violent person you'll ever meet, i just have extreme depressive periods
@Produced by 3AM The danger to others with bipolar only really comes with bipolar I, since only they have genuine manic episodes. There is a very high rate of self-directed violence with both though.
@@producedby3am344 Bipolar type 2 is way more predictable than type one as we only get hypomania as apposed to full on manic episodes. I agree that not all are inherently violent - but manic episodes make people incredibly unpredictable, and can very easily make a usually good-natured person lash out violently.
This woman was VERY smart to have installed video cameras/recording equipment in her home. The restraining order is ONLY a piece of paper and it CAN be helpful in certain cases where you have to prove a history of violence and have a paper trail. BUT it would not have done anything for this woman because she knew he was too far gone. She probably could not (financially) afford to move so the cameras were her effort to at least do what they did... help catch the perp up. That being said, this most definitely a cautionary tale.
They are very real and even worst than what we see on movies .... Thats why you need to be careful with literally everyone can't even trust your closest ones
You are absolutely right. That is a bone chilling fact. The world is full of evil that is far beyond anything we have seen in a movie, or read in the news. 🤯😢 Stay safe and vigilant. Purchase a gun, and get very comfortable with it. Cameras inside and outside your home, and definitely go for a degree in psychology. 🤯 I am never dating or leaving my house ever again.😏
He sounded completely delusional during the interview but it was still so frustrating to watch. But when they mentioned the part where he revealed the location of her body in exchange for a plea deal, that was infuriating. Kinda seems like he was just pretending to be delusional so that he can get off by pleading insanity.
I live with a roommate who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder but refuses medication or even counseling. He tends to create weird scenarios in his head how everyone in the house is trying screw him over and thus justifying bad behavior or no sympathy at all. Thankfully he's moving out this week.
Be very, very, cautious. Never talk to that person alone. If there is concerning, threatening or abusive behavior or talk, do not hesitate to ask the police to get involved.

If it helps… 81 years old when he gets out. I couldn’t spend 38 DAYS in prison - it’s not a comfortable, easy way to live - and he’s looking at 38 years.
My daughter just been diagnosed.. life was a nightmare, I thought she was on drugs, and seems she was. right now taking meds getting council.. i take it day at a time , I pray and cry a lot. .. she is now 35, and will most probably never live a "normal" life now she is a later starter... no one chooses this life, and some find it hard to stay on the meds. I pray
Here is some advice - have a "code word" with the people you care about. When my daughters were little girls we had a "code word" - a word that only we knew and if anyone tried to pick them up from any place unexpectedly, the person had to know that word before my girls would go with them. They are 38 & 39 now and we still have that code word that we use for texting. If something feels off and one of us isn't answering or returning calls, then we will text and ask what the code word is.

As for an adult - it’s not likely someone is still going to be alive if they have been taken by someone. If they are, they can give a fake one and the person holding them hostage wouldn’t know the difference, but the person asking for it would know something is wrong and could have the phone tracked. 😉
I agree. I also like Dave's Lemonade a lot. The story he told about the "Bone Breaker" (I think that's what it's called) was CHILLING. And he tells his stories with a lot of empathy towards the victims. 💛✌️

The RAVEN is awesome! His perspective often aligns with having a lot of empathy for the victim and their families where many other channels only sensationalize the heinous actions of the perps. So on point with the Robert Stack comparison. Unsolved Mysteries used to haunt me (in the BEST possible way.. be still my young,True Crime-fascinated heart) because of his presence and voice....and oh yeah that remarkable theme music.

I went through the same thing after binge watching true crime for four weeks straight. I was so paranoid of every sound and person around me. It was unhealthy and I took a break from it for few months.
Five years ago I bought my first house, woke up to the neighbors fighting very loudly, I could hear screaming things breaking etc. I did call the police. Turns out they ran out of drugs and were fighting about who did the last of them. Needless to say they HATED my family the rest of the time they lived there. Was I sorry, not a bit. I can’t imagine not calling and then being interviewed about a missing person. That said, people fight and yell, not everything is worth calling, but when glass is smashing and it sounds like someone is hurt….you can be anonymous if you like…
Absolutely! Let them be mad. Outraged. I will not live in fear of a neighbor, will not move from my apt, listen to words you describe and cover my ears and ignore it. Went through this with past neighbors. If I didn't care about myself, my neighbor as a human being, I wouldn't be able to look at myself.
Same thing here, I couldn't ignore hearing my neighbour screaming she was going to slit her own throat. She hated me for calling in a welfare check, she has major problems. Glad I'm moving soon.
As a survivor of extreme domestic violence that almost cost my life in 2017 these scenarios happen all to often. By time i realised i couldnt break free i was terrified of the punishment id recieve getting caught and when they have you isolated and in 100% control its almost impossible to get out especially if a narcsisst finds out. I underestimated my abuse even when physical Because i had nobody to talk to, no phone, lived on a property and had to be in his line of sight at all times even so much so i had to wake him through the night to be escorted to and from the bathroom being caught up in the night was met with contempt or violence. I had no way out and even in public being attacked physically very soldemly did anyone intervine because not many will between partners and narcroach just manipulated them anyway i always came off 2nd best.. silenced. Ive spent 5yrs now in hiding while helping to support others inside these horrific relstionships and it reinforces why i keep sharing my story in the hopes other beautiful soles can survive to.. victims wether woman, men or children will continue to die at hands of abusers because laws surrounding this is just to out dated they are relaxed and anyone out there that lies about being victims also make it hard for victims like me to be believed and heard. Reach out to other survivors we've walked in them shoes and its scary when there is nothing and no one to protect you but knowledge can help set you free! First 8 minutes describing BIPOLARISM was exactly my Mom. Abandoned by her Mom at 5. She grew up somewhat normal until her 30s. Then the horror began, got worse every 10 years. By the time she was 60, she was full blown crazy and had left a horrific path of destruction 7 States wide, alienated 6 different family blood lines (hers,my dad's, my stepdads). She was a cold blooded monster then could instantly switch to the innocent Ole lady like a light switch. That was her defense mechanism and she played all 7 of us kids like puppets. I will never forgive her because she would never take her medication and the destruction of everyone was beyond repair. She never physically killed anyone but she did kill their internal souls with her hatred. It took me 45 years to force myself to not recognize her as Mom and never look back, she was merely a woman who gave birth to me, nothing else. Bipolarism with menopausal women is like fighting the Devil with a bent butter knife that is glued to the floor. 😆
I am bi polar, diagnosed almost 16 years ago. The medication does make such an improvement to past behaviours..being bi polar isnt a choice..but accepting help and medication is. This man i feel should have been locked up..a total danger to society. Poor Gretchen to feel so scared that she put cameras up. Breaks my heart for poor Ava. Just heart breaking.
@@damuffin91 There are different medications and further choices like therapy. Those who want help can get help. The problem is when bipolar is comorbidities with other problems (like antisocial personality) and the person will not accept help.
As a person who struggles with bipolar this case hit me pretty hard. Is this what I'm capable of? I really don't think it is. But watching this video makes me want to stay single forever just in case. I been really good lately. Most of my episodes came while I was under the influence and my life was basically almost unmanageable. My fiancé left me over a year ago. I was never ever physically abusive. But I said a lot of things I wish I could take back. As much as it hurts to say, maybe she was right. I'm on medication 💊 and my life is a lot more stable. Even still, what if I somehow lose my job and lose my mind? Work has actually been a blessing 🙌. It helps me tremendously. I'm sure I'm over thinking about this and I'll be fine. Sorry for the rant. Doing this for my own benefit. Idc if no one ever likes or comments 🤷. Just sometimes it's better to vent to a bunch of strangers. And for those like me. Even though I'm being quite contrary, I do believe we can get some what better. Not beat bipolar cuz that's impossible. But to live a normal life with meaning and substance.
Good luck you can do it. I know its hard. I'm in recovery from hardcore drugs and also have bi polar depression. So I can relate a little. Just keep talking about it, go to therapy, take the meds, and just take it day by day.

i think this all the time. im almost 20, and ive already said i wont get married or have children due to the fear of not being able to control myself, and i feel like id be a huge burden. i was diagnosed at 14, and quit the meds at 17 because i hated feeling like a zombie. this video kinda scared me because i dont want ppl to believe that everyone whos bipolar can do something like this. anyway, i hope you have a good life, and i also believe we can get better, as well as have the normal life that we want :)

I can't believe the neighbors never called about the screaming. Years ago I lived in a crappy apartment and heard the couple above me screaming, the poor woman was yelling for help. I called it in and the cops said the man answered and said that "they were just watching tv" and the cops told me quote, to "shut up and go to sleep, we wont't deal with that". That same couple moved out of their apartment in the middle of the night the next day. Never saw them again. I still think about that woman a lot, I hope she is okay and safe.
I think he is conveniently "crazy". Judging by his actions he was very calculated in murdering and especially trying to cover up the murder. He's fully aware she's dead, his denying it is just his way of trying to somehow get out of paying the consequences, he's incredibly manipulative.
Funny how he isn't so crazy when a plea deal is waved in front of him. I'm pretty sure he's not right in the head but I also think he went to his estranged wife in relatively sound mind with one goal - to extract the ultimate revenge.

As someone who has lived with bipolar 1 since i was 13 and i am now 38 it is a very hard struggle especially not being able to be medicated due to most medications not working or they dont work for long. I also have a 17 year old daughter who has borderline personality disorder and a son that is under the autism spectrum it is a very hard struggle. I feel sorry for my family the most because sometimes i cant recognise when im manic and they deal with me so well. I feel so sorry for the families of the people who choose not to get help but unfortunately you cant help those that wont help themselves. Im happy to see that bipolar is actually talked about more openly these days and that there is a lot more help available for those that suffer from it and their families.
I choose to marry a bipolar knowing it’s hard to deal with just because it’s not a choice and someone with it deserves to be treated like anyone else 👍🏻
I’m a 27 year old male, my wife and I are both bipolar. She’d known she was and I was diagnosed and am now medicated. The fights were intense, but now that we’re both medicated we’re both happier and so are our two young children. So many things in my life make sense now.
7:01-- I paused there because of a recent situation with my own husband. We've been together for 21 years. NEVER has this occurred at any time in those years, until April of 2022. But OH MY GOSH is it scary to see and go through. He was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 years and years ago. He did take meds for a little while at first. But stopped because of the way they made him feel. But honestly, he was fairly normal. Really no different than you or I. Until we had a couple of very stressful moments this past year that clearly hit him hard. Every symptom that this narrator described he was going through. Other than the violence. He was not being violent in any way. But he did appear to be terrified of something, that was in his head. My 16 year old daughter went to stay at my Mom's because she was fearful. Not that he would hurt her, but fearful just the same. But this man would stand over me while I was sleeping. Or pear through our closet at me, as if I had no idea he was there. He jumped over our stairs to get away. I took our firearm out of our house days before this occurred, THANK GOD!! It's still gone. Anyway he was hospitalized for about 8 days and took months to recover. He did have hallucinations, mainly auditory though. It's absolutely terrifying to witness
My boyfriend has bipolar. After 20 yrs of not taking meds I have finally convinced him to start taking his meds again since his mother passed away. Even though with meds he is very jealous and can think the world is against him. It is very scary to realize the person you are so in love with is mentally ill!! You have to be fully aware of it!! All you can really do is have them seek help and pray they will continue to be the best them moving forward! Alot of us try so hard to be that person to save them but the reality is only they can be that person for themselves..My condolences to the family ✝️

These plea deals really need to be reigned in or banned outright. Finding someone's body for the sentimental purpose of having a funeral is not worth auctioning off justice to these murderers.
I totally agree. Every time I hear “plea deal”, it just makes me so sad, that instead of getting a just and harsh sentence, people end up getting off relatively light.

Tbh though, don't you think it's the family of the victim's choice? And they often do talk with family before deciding on a plea deal. Also, the torture of not knowing exactly what happened to their loved one could be agonizing. Once the body of their loved one is found, and an autopsy is done, they can finally get REAL confirmation of what happened and not just what the perp is saying happened. I know it seems unfair, but this dude is also either gonna be very close to death or already dead by the time his sentence is up, and at least now they now the full truth as the body provides the story.

I can’t imagine having to watch the blink camera recordings. Gotta be awful to be a detective sometimes. I respect them for the things they see so they can bring justice to the victims
My 15 year old son and I were talking about this the other day. He wants to either be a detective who catches suspects in crimes against children or work for secret service to protect the children of the president after doing a minimum of 4 years in the marines or navy so we talk about police/detectives/crime scene techs/etc more frequently than the average family probably does. My daughter wants to be a crime scene tech and I do legal (and general) transcription for a job. My daughter and I are also a court and true crime junkies. He was wondering why it seems like a lot of police officers have such a dark sense of humor so we were discussing how many awful things they have to see and deal with every single day. I tried to help him understand that this is how some of them deal with it and it’s a coping strategy. I love that he wants to grow up and join the military and serve our country and then follow that with career choices that are all about protecting children but I hate knowing the kinds of things he will have to be exposed to in order to do those kinds of jobs. You never stop wanting to protect your kids and I can’t imagine how hard it is to see that kind of thing and I also feel for the momma’s of these officers who have to be torn between pride in their child’s chosen profession and hate for the need to have those professions and hating that your child is being exposed to the absolute darkest evil there is on a daily basis!
That last mugshot photo at the very end of the video made my skin crawl. He has such a deranged look. I hope Ava is trying to heal, that poor girl. What a terrible case.
My son has bipolar 1 and it's the hardest thing to watch and endure. It's very painful to watch them on this rollercoaster. Once in a manic episode he crashed into a tree and almost died. I try and help him, and yet he always blames me for all problems in his life..how can you help and not be in danger

Feeling aweful for him being cold and on the street. Next week his dad will be back from out of the country, and.we are going to try and get him inpatient care.

My parents live next to a lady who recently had a manic episode. Luckily the neighborhood is very nosey and called 911 to get her help. She had her kids in her car with her, luckily they are ok for now. People need to get help before it comes to things like this story
Restraining orders and orders of protection are a total joke. They can't and won't stop someone from doing anything. All they can do is punish someone after they have broken them. Totally useless. There is no lawful way to stop someone from making contact with someone else short of having an office physically protect someone, but that literally never happens. Almost every single person killed by a stalker or violent partner has a restraining/protection order and it never helped once.
they don't even get punished for breaking them. He disappears before the cops get there and the cops tell you he is just attention seeking and you need to ignore him.
My husband is not bipolar and he reacted to KBs death the exact same way. We have been married 23 yrs and I have seen him cry a handful of times. Once KB passed that was one more time added to the list which I felt was absolutely insane but he was absolutely sincere. I think a lot of people probably responded that way.
I live overseas since2006,but remember when KB joined the Lakers and started to become interested in basketball,along with my sick mother,who was a sports nut. I was affected by his death,but couldn't imagine how my mother would have reacted.She died in 2006.
My ex suffers from undiagnosed paranoid delusions and manic episodes and watching David's way of speaking and behaving brought me right back to that. I'm so glad I managed to get out of that relationship before something bad like this could happen... I just hope the people in his life stop brushing his behaviour off as eccentricity and actually get him some help
Did no one think to recommend seeing a doctor? Or call cops for a wellness check? Or anything besides trying to leave him and forget him? He was clearly not on meds. I have a relative with Bipolar 1 and she is fine while on meds. Without them, there is no telling what could have happened by now. Ignoring mental health issues just makes it worse.
Some people with bipolar disorder do not want to be treated (often during a manic episode) sometimes there is little you can do to help someone mentally unless they want help.
Same thing I thought. I guess there's still more stigma and fear surrounding mental health crisis than I thought. All those people in his life knew what was going on and no one tried to get him help.
Unfortunately, Im speaking from experience with my mother. You can't help them if they don't want help. I tried in vain for many years before she committed suicide.
Things like this are why it's so important to me to always be working on maintaining my abstinence from alcohol, and to be constantly working on managing my bipolar disorder and other mental health issues. This is what it looks like when full-blown mental health disorders are allowed to go on unchecked, and the stigma against asking for help is garbage, and shouldn't even be a thing. I work my butt off to keep myself on the right path, and it makes me feel terrible when preventable things happen that just can't be taken back.😢
I'm bipolar and usually it doesn't bother me when people try to describe it but this is terrible. Anyone watching this hearing how bipolar is described would never give a person with bipolar the time of day. This programme is an exact sample of the stigma we are trying to get away from. Terrible. How is there someone that hears screams in so many stories like this and never call the police or anything. That is absolutely mind-boggling. If I ever heard screams like that coming from my neighbor's house I don't know if I would call the police first, or run in that direction to see if there's anything I can do to help first.

To others with bipolar disorder, you don't have to end up like this monster. Doctors and the right prescribed medications will help and there will ALWAYS be someone to listen even if you haven't found them yet. Medical conditions like this one are not your fault but if you have it, it is your responsibility.
I am bipolar II and my cousin is Bipolar I. I can see how we both have been getting worse during the past 10 years. I have married a good man recently, and this video hit me hard. I am seriously thinking about taking my own life before menopause. I don't want to hurt him. Anything but that. I have no kids and will never. But I am so afraid of hurting my husband, so afraid 😢😢 I really don't know what to do. I am... @@yuliapanina8815 I’m in no way a trained professional but I have severe bipolar 2 and have been in treatment most of my life. Just like you I was lucky enough to marry a wonderful man recently! I can’t speak to what it’s like to near menopause just yet so I won’t pretend to have any advice on that. I do however know what it’s like to struggle daily with bipolar 2 disorder. From what I’ve learned it is something that needs to be treated properly. The right type of therapist for you and finding the right medication(s) can make a world of difference. You don’t have to hurt anyone or hurt yourself. I’ll do for you what others have done for me, show how to start to manage this disorder so it isn’t an overwhelming monster anymore. Talk with your husband if you feel comfortable doing so, find a certified professional educated in bipolar disorders and ask about treatments. This will take some time but for your husband’s sake and more importantly your sake, it’s worth it. I’ve been there and I’m so happy you are still here to read this. Call the number 988

Despite what the media will have you believe cases such as this are rare. You cannot live your life in fear as that is not life. Be sensible be smart but live life.

I remember looking at this exact case on TV, and the one thing that stuck with me was them saying that the only reason that Alexa didn't call 911 when Gretchen tried to tell it to was that he was in the middle of strangling her and it couldn't make out exactly what she was trying to say.
As someone with Bipolar 1, I highly recommend anyone who struggles with this illness to seek help as soon as physically possible. The mania can lead to serious consequences & I am lucky I got my diagnosis fairly early in life, so I couldn’t destroy what was left of it… I sabotaged almost every relationship I had & had to rebuild from the ground up. Thankfully, I didn’t hurt anyone aside from fist fights, but the delusions became all too “real” in my mind. I’m heavily medicated & so so grateful. This man became a monster & despite having this mental illness, he deserves every bit of punishment.

So a few months ago, I was walking my dog at around 12am when I noticed more police lurking around than usual. Within minutes one officer in an suv approached me and asked me if I had heard someone calling out that they needed a doctor. I hadn't but like I told that officer, if I had heard something like that, you'd know because I'd be on my phone with the police, as I was looking for the person myself. My doggo's a good sniffer. I could never not try to help anyone in distress, I was not brought up that way. You ever know when the tables could turn and you find yourself in a situation where you yourself needs help.
My ex boyfriend had Type 1 Bipolar disorder. It ran in his family, his dad, two uncles, and grandfather all had it and 3 out of 4 were cruel assholes, the 4th kept to himself and worked as a truck driver basically never developing any close relationships. It typically develops into schizophrenia later in life. My ex was apparently nowhere near as bad as most of his relatives with it but he traumatized the hell out of me anyway. I think he thought that because he wasn't physically violent like his father had been, the way he treated me wasn't abuse. He was aware of his diagnosis since he'd been in and out of psych treatment facilities since he was a teenager, but refused to be one meds or to go to a psychologist like he was supposed to. I remember him telling me about how the hallucinations worked for him, according to him it isn't like schizophrenia where you hear a consistent voice in your head, it was other people's voices in his head. When he looked at others, he basically felt like he was hearing all their thoughts in his head and they were all about him and how much they hated him, even if they weren't even acknowledging him. He would just become suddenly aggressive and mean spirited sometimes, I guess because he was believing the things his brain was telling him. He also had delusions about the world ending and was into conspiracy theories in general.
Narssicists cannot be wrong even faced with evidence. David is very much like my ex, he was so angry when I left. Nothing was ever his fault even when the evidence said otherwise. I would find womens hair in my bed and tampax in my bathroom when I was away for two days, he said I was inventing problems. When I went to a psy to talk about our relationship, she said RUN. His family took me aside and said RUN. I didn't run, I ended up walking away after five years and lost my house and money but I saved me.

You know what's sad is that my brother at bipolar I have one daughter that has bipolar disorder. My brother would never seek treatment he went to a therapy appointment as a teenager one time they urge them to take medication my mother didn't push it. Therefore he self medicated and became a drug addict which Was part of his Death at 49. What's truly sad like this man they're talented a lot of people don't realize that bipolar people have a lot of love and compassion and if they are able to balance their serotonin levels and focus on positive things in their lives they can do really well. My brother as talented as he was he was a taking time home all the time you couldn't talk to him he knew everything About everything. He was always right and he was incredibly disrespectful to women even as a mother I stopped talking to him years prior to his death I was just done with his toxicity I begged him for years to get the help you needed For years he would not listen and it's not easy when you're 5' 6 and your brother is 6' 8 and very aggressive you pretty much surrender and just stay away. Now just my daughter I don't think she has bipolar one She's a completely different type of person She can be very magnetic but she's awesome overly trusting bad people and has addiction issues but is now been on the path of recovery For a few years I've been doing well for 10 years Prior to her Break down over a break up. She had a good job a good future had been sober A very happy-go-lucky person but because of her coping skills she She had an emotional breakdown and had to be hospitalized for 2 years over it she had Just up and didn't show up for work she delve into Her fantasy world while doing methat means causing more delusions and end it up on the streets. Sadly she cannot remember a lot of what happened to her at this time but there are incidences of assault and battery and rape. We tried day and the day out to get her off the streets and get her mental help because She is loved very deeply and we know that she can find her way through the darkness. But this mental illness is nothing to fool with at all. You have to insist that they get psychological help no matter how they fight you no matter what you have to do as an intervention you really have to give it your best foot forward if you care If you love a person that is struggling with this I know I've had to do it myself several times luckily my daughter is a lot moreIf you love a person that is struggling with this I know I've had to do it myself several times luckily my daughter is a lot more Open to getting help. Often people think the "crazy" behavior of people with this disorder is caused by drugs when its the opposite : drugs would help placate the dangerous symptoms.

My father has bipolar disorder. He was abusing his medication and a plethora of other drugs. The more I watch videos like this, the more I realize how lucky my sister, my mother, and I are to be alive. He once told my sister and I that we were little demons (like he literally thought we were actual demons in the house) and was screaming for my mom to save him from us. Then he beat the crap out of her. That's why, when I started showing symptoms, I immediately started therapy. I was diagnosed, got on medication, and stay away from any type of drug. I don't even drink alcohol. I'll never be to my children what my father was to me.
As someone who works in mental health & substance use, seeing this is heart breaking. I write dictations about clients who have schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. The delusions they believe is so scary. I can see this man half believing that she IS still alive but, who knows what he truly thinks in the end. It's so awful.
Yeah it's very distressing. I have a very high interest in psychology and mental health but it couldn't prepare me for the situation that my ex roommate had full blown psychosis. At first I didn't know if he was telling the truth (but the fact he always talked to someone in his head and shouting the police should stop harassing him and he was convinced that cops were outside of his window at the apartment and that they're shouting at him.) He wasn't violent with us but he then disappeared for 2 weeks and it turned out he visited his mother, wanted to throw out the furniture because it's bugged and threatened her, at this point he finally got into treatment. I tried helping him but when he's not a danger to himself or others we can't force him. Police was here once, which he called and accused another roommate that he puts piss all over his floor, his room and the floor was full of rags. That was also the moment when it was finally decided he had to move out. It was very sad to see what he had become but it mentally drained me too. I was anxious all the time and sometimes burst out crying because I couldn't do much.
@@crustalee I don't know exactly where he lives now but I think it's outside the city, which makes sense (quiet, not so many people). I also learned about his rough past, he was actually homeless at one time, and was addicted to cocaine, which he substitutes with Ritalin. He actually is a social worker and had a good job and a lot of income. Hope he is good right now. Edit: I'm pretty sure his psychosis came from abusing the Ritalin and smoking a lot of weed all day.

His solution to the mania was to decorate his wacky home (which he and his wife sometimes allowed tours in), and for the depression he'd ride a bike around town blowing bubbles. (Maybe I have those flipped, these are childhood memories.) All the kids knew him as "the Bubble Man!" Seeing kids cheer and jump with joy lifted his spirits through the dark days. I was Diagnosed with bipolar more than a decade ago after my first manic episode. I remember very clearly what my thoughts were during my manic episode.
I thought I was an alien captured on earth being experimented on. I thought I could talk to my neighbors dogs. I thought I was Sun Wu Kong, the legendary monkey birth by a rock. I was absolutely insane and had no touch with reality.
A lot of people gave up on me as no one really wants to deal with a crazy person and I don’t blame them. Luckily, my mother who had always loved me never gave up on me and took care of me. She spent all the resources and time and dedicated her life to take care of me.
I got better and eventually got back to living a normal life (with medication) and got my college degree a few years later. Everything was getting better until 5 years later when I decided to get off meds, big mistake. I had my 2nd manic episode and got verbally aggressive towards my own mother who was the only person who cared for me. I am in tears just thinking about it. But she never gave up on me, she knew I needed help and did everything she could to get me back on meds.
I eventually got back on meds and was normal again. I vow to never stop taking medication again after that 2nd episode and have been going strong for 8 years now. Thankfully, I was able to get back to living a normal life and even have a 6 figure paying job.
I don’t plan on having my own family because I know if I have a kid, my kid would have a high probability of having bipolar and I wouldn’t want my child to go through life with it.
My only goal in life rn is to repay my mother for taking care of me, never giving up on me, and saving my life. I am happy to say that I am able to retire her early in her early 60s and take care of her financially. I am currently saving up and half way there to buy her the house she always wanted.
I am sharing my story hoping to spread awareness to people who have loved ones who have bipolar. Please don’t give up on them, get them the medication they desperately need. It’s almost impossible for a bipolar person to get well by themselves if no one truly cared about them.
I am blessed I have the best mother in the world, I couldn’t imagine where my life would be without her. I know most bipolar patients won’t have the same love that I got though and I have a lot of empathy for them. Just by reading the comment section and seeing how many people gave up and judge their love ones who have bipolar instead of trying to help them makes me sad. Hopefully, my story can help save another bipolar person who is abandoned by their loved ones to get the help they need.

Some things in the world are sad. Some people give up on family members after many, many, many tries. For my sister it’s uncountable, but I just didn’t have anything left. Daughters are different, and your mom only went through it twice. In my early 30's I learned that I'm bipolar. The symptoms described in the video are why I swear by my medication, counseling, staying sober, having a drama free life, and being grateful for EVERYTHING in my life. Currently I'm very content.

i've had bipolar my entire life, through other means i've learned to control it. No need for medication, counseling, staying sober, or any of that. i am one of the lucky few who can do it though not everyone can.
My sister has bi polar, during a violent episode my brothers tried to restrain her and one got his throat cut by her, after that she went and got help. She now has a kid and is engaged, and shes still close with my brothers.
Help is a choice to accept, and it really does make a difference.

I agree that not all are inherently violent - but manic episodes make people incredibly unpredictable, and can very easily make a usually good-natured person lash out violently.

This woman was VERY smart to have installed video cameras/recording equipment in her home. The restraining order is ONLY a piece of paper and it CAN be helpful in certain cases where you have to prove a history of violence and have a paper trail. BUT it would not have done anything for this woman because she knew he was too far gone. She probably could not (financially) afford to move so the cameras were her effort to at least do what they did... help catch the perp up. That being said, this most definitely a cautionary tale.

But when they mentioned the part where he revealed the location of her body in exchange for a plea deal, that was infuriating. I live with a roommate who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder but refuses medication or even counseling. He tends to create weird scenarios in his head how everyone in the house is trying screw him over and thus justifying bad behavior or no sympathy at all. Thankfully he's moving out this week.

Here is some advice - have a "code word" with the people you care about. When my daughters were little girls we had a "code word" - a word that only we knew and if anyone tried to pick them up from any place unexpectedly, the person had to know that word before my girls would go with them. They are 38 & 39 now and we still have that code word that we use for texting. If something feels off and one of us isn't answering or returning calls, then we will text and ask what the code word is.

I went through the same thing after binge watching true crime for four weeks straight. I was so paranoid of every sound and person around me. It was unhealthy and I took a break from it for few months.
Five years ago I bought my first house, woke up to the neighbors fighting very loudly, I could hear screaming things breaking etc. I did call the police. Turns out they ran out of drugs and were fighting about who did the last of them. Needless to say they HATED my family the rest of the time they lived there. Was I sorry, not a bit. I can’t imagine not calling and then being interviewed about a missing person. That said, people fight and yell, not everything is worth calling, but when glass is smashing and it sounds like someone is hurt….you can be anonymous if you like…

Absolutely! Let them be mad. Outraged. I will not live in fear of a neighbor, will not move from my apt, listen to words you describe and cover my ears and ignore it. Went through this with past neighbors. If I didn't care about myself, my neighbor as a human being, I wouldn't be able to look at myself.
Same thing here, I couldn't ignore hearing my neighbour screaming she was going to slit her own throat. She hated me for calling in a welfare check, she has major problems. Glad I'm moving soon.

As a survivor of extreme domestic violence that almost cost my life in 2017 these scenarios happen all to often. By time i realised i couldnt break free i was terrified of the punishment id recieve getting caught and when they have you isolated and in 100% control its almost impossible to get out especially if a narcsisst finds out. I underestimated my abuse even when physical Because i had nobody to talk to, no phone, lived on a property and had to be in his line of sight at all times even so much so i had to wake him through the night to be escorted to and from the bathroom being caught up in the night was met with contempt or violence. I had no way out and even in public being attacked physically very soldemly did anyone intervine because not many will between partners and narcroach just manipulated them anyway i always came off 2nd best.. silenced. Ive spent 5yrs now in hiding while helping to support others inside these horrific relstionships and it reinforces why i keep sharing my story in the hopes other beautiful soles can survive to.. victims wether woman, men or children will continue to die at hands of abusers because laws surrounding this is just to out dated they are relaxed and anyone out there that lies about being victims also make it hard for victims like me to be believed and heard. Reach out to other survivors we've walked in them shoes and its scary when there is nothing and no one to protect you but knowledge can help set you free! First 8 minutes describing BIPOLARISM was exactly my Mom. Abandoned by her Mom at 5. She grew up somewhat normal until her 30s. Then the horror began, got worse every 10 years. By the time she was 60, she was full blown crazy and had left a horrific path of destruction 7 States wide, alienated 6 different family blood lines (hers,my dad's, my stepdads). She was a cold blooded monster then could instantly switch to the innocent Ole lady like a light switch. That was her defense mechanism and she played all 7 of us kids like puppets. I will never forgive her because she would never take her medication and the destruction of everyone was beyond repair. She never physically killed anyone but she did kill their internal souls with her hatred. It took me 45 years to force myself to not recognize her as Mom and never look back, she was merely a woman who gave birth to me, nothing else. Bipolarism with menopausal women is like fighting the Devil with a bent butter knife that is glued to the floor. 😆

I am bi polar, diagnosed almost 16 years ago. The medication does make such an improvement to past behaviours..being bi polar isnt a choice..but accepting help and medication is. This man i feel should have been locked up..a total danger to society. Poor Gretchen to feel so scared that she put cameras up. Breaks my heart for poor Ava. Just heart breaking.

As a person who struggles with bipolar this case hit me pretty hard. Is this what I'm capable of? I really don't think it is. But watching this video makes me want to stay single forever just in case. I been really good lately. Most of my episodes came while I was under the influence and my life was basically almost unmanageable. My fiancé left me over a year ago. I was never ever physically abusive. But I said a lot of things I wish I could take back. As much as it hurts to say, maybe she was right. I'm on medication 💊 and my life is a lot more stable. Even still, what if I somehow lose my job and lose my mind? Work has actually been a blessing 🙌. It helps me tremendously. I'm sure I'm over thinking about this and I'll be fine. Sorry for the rant. Doing this for my own benefit. Idc if no one ever likes or comments 🤷. Just sometimes it's better to vent to a bunch of strangers. And for those like me. Even though I'm being quite contrary, I do believe we can get some what better. Not beat bipolar cuz that's impossible. But to live a normal life with meaning and substance.
Good luck you can do it. I know its hard. I'm in recovery from hardcore drugs and also have bi polar depression. So I can relate a little.
Just keep talking about it, go to therapy, take the meds, and just take it day by day.

i think this all the time. im almost 20, and ive already said i wont get married or have children due to the fear of not being able to control myself, and i feel like id be a huge burden. i was diagnosed at 14, and quit the meds at 17 because i hated feeling like a zombie. this video kinda scared me because i dont want ppl to believe that everyone whos bipolar can do something like this. anyway, i hope you have a good life, and i also believe we can get better, as well as have the normal life that we want :)

I can't believe the neighbors never called about the screaming. Years ago I lived in a crappy apartment and heard the couple above me screaming, the poor woman was yelling for help. I called it in and the cops said the man answered and said that "they were just watching tv" and the cops told me quote, to "shut up and go to sleep, we wont't deal with that". That same couple moved out of their apartment in the middle of the night the next day. Never saw them again. I still think about that woman a lot, I hope she is okay and safe.

As someone who has lived with bipolar 1 since i was 13 and i am now 38 it is a very hard struggle especially not being able to be medicated due to most medications not working or they dont work for long. I also have a 17 year old daughter who has borderline personality disorder and a son that is under the autism spectrum it is a very hard struggle. I feel sorry for my family the most because sometimes i cant recognise when im manic and they deal with me so well. I feel so sorry for the families of the people who choose not to get help but unfortunately you cant help those that wont help themselves. Im happy to see that bipolar is actually talked about more openly these days and that there is a lot more help available for those that suffer from it and their families.

7:01-- I paused there because of a recent situation with my own husband. We've been together for 21 years. NEVER has this occurred at any time in those years, until April of 2022. But OH MY GOSH is it scary to see and go through. He was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 years and years ago. He did take meds for a little while at first. But stopped because of the way they made him feel. But honestly, he was fairly normal. Really no different than you or I. Until we had a couple of very stressful moments this past year that clearly hit him hard. Every symptom that this narrator described he was going through. Other than the violence. He was not being violent in any way. But he did appear to be terrified of something, that was in his head. My 16 year old daughter went to stay at my Mom's because she was fearful. Not that he would hurt her, but fearful just the same. But this man would stand over me while I was sleeping. Or pear through our closet at me, as if I had no idea he was there. He jumped over our stairs to get away. I took our firearm out of our house days before this occurred, THANK GOD!! It's still gone. Anyway he was hospitalized for about 8 days and took months to recover. He did have hallucinations, mainly auditory though. It's absolutely terrifying to witness
Sounds more like bipolar 1. That is a full blown manic episode, bipolar 2 people have hypomania which is less severe.
My boyfriend has bipolar. After 20 yrs of not taking meds I have finally convinced him to start taking his meds again since his mother passed away. Even though with meds he is very jealous and can think the world is against him. It is very scary to realize the person you are so in love with is mentally ill!! You have to be fully aware of it!! All you can really do is have them seek help and pray they will continue to be the best them moving forward! Alot of us try so hard to be that person to save them but the reality is only they can be that person for themselves..My condolences to the family ✝️

I totally agree. Every time I hear “plea deal”, it just makes me so sad, that instead of getting a just and harsh sentence, people end up getting off relatively light.

Tbh though, don't you think it's the family of the victim's choice? And they often do talk with family before deciding on a plea deal. Also, the torture of not knowing exactly what happened to their loved one could be agonizing. Once the body of their loved one is found, and an autopsy is done, they can finally get REAL confirmation of what happened and not just what the perp is saying happened. I know it seems unfair, but this dude is also either gonna be very close to death or already dead by the time his sentence is up, and at least now they now the full truth as the body provides the story.

My 15 year old son and I were talking about this the other day. He wants to either be a detective who catches suspects in crimes against children or work for secret service to protect the children of the president after doing a minimum of 4 years in the marines or navy so we talk about police/detectives/crime scene techs/etc more frequently than the average family probably does. My daughter wants to be a crime scene tech and I do legal (and general) transcription for a job. My daughter and I are also a court and true crime junkies. He was wondering why it seems like a lot of police officers have such a dark sense of humor so we were discussing how many awful things they have to see and deal with every single day. I tried to help him understand that this is how some of them deal with it and it’s a coping strategy. I love that he wants to grow up and join the military and serve our country and then follow that with career choices that are all about protecting children but I hate knowing the kinds of things he will have to be exposed to in order to do those kinds of jobs. You never stop wanting to protect your kids and I can’t imagine how hard it is to see that kind of thing and I also feel for the momma’s of these officers who have to be torn between pride in their child’s chosen profession and hate for the need to have those professions and hating that your child is being exposed to the absolute darkest evil there is on a daily basis!

My parents live next to a lady who recently had a manic episode. Luckily the neighborhood is very nosey and called 911 to get her help. She had her kids in her car with her, luckily they are ok for now. People need to get help before it comes to things like this story

Restraining orders and orders of protection are a total joke. They can't and won't stop someone from doing anything. All they can do is punish someone after they have broken them. Totally useless. There is no lawful way to stop someone from making contact with someone else short of having an office physically protect someone, but that literally never happens. Almost every single person killed by a stalker or violent partner has a restraining/protection order and it never helped once.

My husband is not bipolar and he reacted to KBs death the exact same way. We have been married 23 yrs and I have seen him cry a handful of times. Once KB passed that was one more time added to the list which I felt was absolutely insane but he was absolutely sincere. I think a lot of people probably responded that way.

I was affected by his death,but couldn't imagine how my mother would have reacted.She died in 2006.
My ex suffers from undiagnosed paranoid delusions and manic episodes and watching David's way of speaking and behaving brought me right back to that. I'm so glad I managed to get out of that relationship before something bad like this could happen... I just hope the people in his life stop brushing his behaviour off as eccentricity and actually get him some help

Did no one think to recommend seeing a doctor? Or call cops for a wellness check? Or anything besides trying to leave him and forget him? He was clearly not on meds. I have a relative with Bipolar 1 and she is fine while on meds. Without them, there is no telling what could have happened by now. Ignoring mental health issues just makes it worse.
Some people with bipolar disorder do not want to be treated (often during a manic episode) sometimes there is little you can do to help someone mentally unless they want help.

Unfortunately, Im speaking from experience with my mother. You can't help them if they don't want help. I tried in vain for many years before she committed suicide.

Things like this are why it's so important to me to always be working on maintaining my abstinence from alcohol, and to be constantly working on managing my bipolar disorder and other mental health issues. This is what it looks like when full-blown mental health disorders are allowed to go on unchecked, and the stigma against asking for help is garbage, and shouldn't even be a thing. I work my butt off to keep myself on the right path, and it makes me feel terrible when preventable things happen that just can't be taken back.😢

If I ever heard screams like that coming from my neighbor's house I don't know if I would call the police first, or run in that direction to see if there's anything I can do to help first.

To others with bipolar disorder, you don't have to end up like this monster. Doctors and the right prescribed medications will help and there will ALWAYS be someone to listen even if you haven't found them yet. Medical conditions like this one are not your fault but if you have it, it is your responsibility.
I am bipolar II and my cousin is Bipolar I. I can see how we both have been getting worse during the past 10 years. I have married a good man recently, and this video hit me hard. I am seriously thinking about taking my own life before menopause. I don't want to hurt him. Anything but that. I have no kids and will never. But I am so afraid of hurting my husband, so afraid 😢😢 I really don't know what to do. I am... I don't want to hurt him by dying but it would be way worse if I accidentally hurt him during one of my episodes.... I really, really don't know the answer..... What can I do..... @@yuliapanina8815 I’m in no way a trained professional but I have severe bipolar 2 and have been in treatment most of my life. Just like you I was lucky enough to marry a wonderful man recently! I can’t speak to what it’s like to near menopause just yet so I won’t pretend to have any advice on that. I do however know what it’s like to struggle daily with bipolar 2 disorder. From what I’ve learned it is something that needs to be treated properly. The right type of therapist for you and finding the right medication(s) can make a world of difference. You don’t have to hurt anyone or hurt yourself. I’ll do for you what others have done for me, show how to start to manage this disorder so it isn’t an overwhelming monster anymore. Talk with your husband if you feel comfortable doing so, find a certified professional educated in bipolar disorders and ask about treatments. This will take some time but for your husband’s sake and more importantly your sake, it’s worth it. I’ve been there and I’m so happy you are still here to read this. Call the number 988

when I heard her daughter on that voice recording I almost started tearing up. cases like this are literally so heartbreaking. poor Ava has to spend the rest of her life knowing that her mothers ex lover viciously murdered her because he was too selfish to go and get help.
this is why if I ever end up in a situation where I have kids and I end up having a new partner I am going to be very careful of who I choose to date and who I choose to let be around my kid(s) but even then, there’s still a possibility that me or my kid(s) could end up in danger. cases like this make me never want to date again.

I remember looking at this exact case on TV, and the one thing that stuck with me was them saying that the only reason that Alexa didn't call 911 when Gretchen tried to tell it to was that he was in the middle of strangling her and it couldn't make out exactly what she was trying to say.
As someone with Bipolar 1, I highly recommend anyone who struggles with this illness to seek help as soon as physically possible. The mania can lead to serious consequences & I am lucky I got my diagnosis fairly early in life, so I couldn’t destroy what was left of it… I sabotaged almost every relationship I had & had to rebuild from the ground up. Thankfully, I didn’t hurt anyone aside from fist fights, but the delusions became all too “real” in my mind. I’m heavily medicated & so so grateful. This man became a monster & despite having this mental illness, he deserves every bit of punishment.

So a few months ago, I was walking my dog at around 12am when I noticed more police lurking around than usual. Within minutes one officer in an suv approached me and asked me if I had heard someone calling out that they needed a doctor. I hadn't but like I told that officer, if I had heard something like that, you'd know because I'd be on my phone with the police, as I was looking for the person myself. My doggo's a good sniffer.
I could never not try to help anyone in distress, I was not brought up that way. You ever know when the tables could turn and you find yourself in a situation where you yourself needs help.

It ran in his family, his dad, two uncles, and grandfather all had it and 3 out of 4 were cruel assholes, the 4th kept to himself and worked as a truck driver basically never developing any close relationships. It typically develops into schizophrenia later in life. My ex was apparently nowhere near as bad as most of his relatives with it but he traumatized the hell out of me anyway. I think he thought that because he wasn't physically violent like his father had been, the way he treated me wasn't abuse. He was aware of his diagnosis since he'd been in and out of psych treatment facilities since he was a teenager, but refused to be one meds or to go to a psychologist like he was supposed to. I remember him telling me about how the hallucinations worked for him, according to him it isn't like schizophrenia where you hear a consistent voice in your head, it was other people's voices in his head. When he looked at others, he basically felt like he was hearing all their thoughts in his head and they were all about him and how much they hated him, even if they weren't even acknowledging him. He would just become suddenly aggressive and mean spirited sometimes, I guess because he was believing the things his brain was telling him. He also had delusions about the world ending and was into conspiracy theories in general.
Narssicists cannot be wrong even faced with evidence. David is very much like my ex, he was so angry when I left. Nothing was ever his fault even when the evidence said otherwise. I would find womens hair in my bed and tampax in my bathroom when I was away for two days, he said I was inventing problems. When I went to a psy to talk about our relationship, she said RUN. His family took me aside and said RUN. I didn't run, I ended up walking away after five years and lost my house and money but I saved me.

You know what's sad is that my brother at bipolar I have one daughter that has bipolar disorder. My brother would never seek treatment he went to a therapy appointment as a teenager one time they urge them to take medication my mother didn't push it. Therefore he self medicated and became a drug addict which Was part of his Death at 49. What's truly sad like this man they're talented a lot of people don't realize that bipolar people have a lot of love and compassion and if they are able to balance their serotonin levels and focus on positive things in their lives they can do really well. My brother as talented as he was he was a taking time home all the time you couldn't talk to him he knew everything About everything. He was always right and he was incredibly disrespectful to women even as a mother I stopped talking to him years prior to his death I was just done with his toxicity I begged him for years to get the help you needed For years he would not listen and it's not easy when you're 5' 6 and your brother is 6' 8 and very aggressive you pretty much surrender and just stay away. Now just my daughter I don't think she has bipolar one She's a completely different type of person She can be very magnetic but she's awesome overly trusting bad people and has addiction issues but is now been on the path of recovery For a few years I've been doing well for 10 years Prior to her Break down over a break up. She had a good job a good future had been sober A very happy-go-lucky person but because of her coping skills she She had an emotional breakdown and had to be hospitalized for 2 years over it she had Just up and didn't show up for work she delve into Her fantasy world while doing methat means causing more delusions and end it up on the streets. Sadly she cannot remember a lot of what happened to her at this time but there are incidences of assault and battery and rape. We tried day and the day out to get her off the streets and get her mental help because She is loved very deeply and we know that she can find her way through the darkness. But this mental illness is nothing to fool with at all. You have to insist that they get psychological help no matter how they fight you no matter what you have to do as an intervention you really have to give it your best foot forward if you care If you love a person that is struggling with this I know I've had to do it myself several times luckily my daughter is a lot moreIf you love a person that is struggling with this I know I've had to do it myself several times luckily my daughter is a lot more Open to getting help. Some people are not

Often people think the "crazy" behavior of people with this disorder is caused by drugs when its the opposite : drugs would help placate the dangerous symptoms.

I have bipolar 2 but my mother has bipolar 1. I sympathize with anyone going through that both the victim and the person with bipolar 1.

My father has bipolar disorder. He was abusing his medication and a plethora of other drugs. The more I watch videos like this, the more I realize how lucky my sister, my mother, and I are to be alive. He once told my sister and I that we were little demons (like he literally thought we were actual demons in the house) and was screaming for my mom to save him from us. Then he beat the crap out of her. That's why, when I started showing symptoms, I immediately started therapy. I was diagnosed, got on medication, and stay away from any type of drug. I don't even drink alcohol. I'll never be to my children what my father was to me.

As someone who works in mental health & substance use, seeing this is heart breaking. I write dictations about clients who have schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. The delusions they believe is so scary.

Yeah it's very distressing. I have a very high interest in psychology and mental health but it couldn't prepare me for the situation that my ex roommate had full blown psychosis. At first I didn't know if he was telling the truth (but the fact he always talked to someone in his head and shouting the police should stop harassing him and he was convinced that cops were outside of his window at the apartment and that they're shouting at him.) He wasn't violent with us but he then disappeared for 2 weeks and it turned out he visited his mother, wanted to throw out the furniture because it's bugged and threatened her, at this point he finally got into treatment. I tried helping him but when he's not a danger to himself or others we can't force him. Police was here once, which he called and accused another roommate that he puts piss all over his floor, his room and the floor was full of rags. That was also the moment when it was finally decided he had to move out. It was very sad to see what he had become but it mentally drained me too. I was anxious all the time and sometimes burst out crying because I couldn't do much.

@@crustalee I don't know exactly where he lives now but I think it's outside the city, which makes sense (quiet, not so many people). I also learned about his rough past, he was actually homeless at one time, and was addicted to cocaine, which he substitutes with Ritalin. He actually is a social worker and had a good job and a lot of income. Hope he is good right now. Edit: I'm pretty sure his psychosis came from abusing the Ritalin and smoking a lot of weed all day.
