The video emphasizes low-cost, easy-to-perform maintenance tasks that Tesla owners can do themselves to keep their cars running efficiently and extend the life of various components.
I love your added humor along with the great advice. Thanks for sharing Gjeebs keep up the great work!!
LOL, he called the CyberTruck the F150 Lightening. Such a Ryan Reynolds doppelganger. Great video, very helpful!
A few times a year I remove the wiper blades, clean them and apply 303 Protectant to the wiper blades. Makes them last a lot longer. There is a hidden 3rd clip for the AC condenser behind the right lower clip (driver side) It will allow you to pull the panels further apart for deeper access to clean between the two panels. Wedge something in there like a screwdriver handle to keep the panel gap open.
thanks for the further info! this will help others
I’m terrible at maintenance. This is super helpful! Thank you. I’m sure this one will be nominated for academy awards as well.
Suggestion when replacing the wiper blades: Place a towel between the wiper arm and the windshield. Should the wiper arm slip when trying to insert the new blade, it won't go crashing into the windshield glass and possibly cracking the windshield.
PS, thanks for the tip that you can manually move the wiper arms when in wiper service mode beyond the couple of inches it raises up when you hit the (virtual) button. I just washed my Y this week and had a devil of a time trying to clean the wiper blade (driver's side in particular) using the default position of wiper service mode.
Most luxury brand vehicles have this feature. My 2015 Audi A6 has this same feature when servicing the wiper blades. Glad to see Tesla has this as well.
I had Tesla mobile come to my house and replace the filters for $50 total. It is worth it, instead of having to take apart and put back together.
Very Helpful Video @Gjeebs. I like the additional tips on cleaning the AC system cooler under the frunk which goes beyond the swapping out the filters and applying the HVAC cleaner. A lot of great tips. 👍👍👍
Great video. Glad to see you can service the condenser without taking off the bumper. There is a video of this same service on UA-cam, but the guy took the bumper off...I was shocked that this was happening. Now I see its simple and that was over kill. This is a great video for that reason.
That tire pressure tool is what I need. Thanks for that.
Agreed, driving habits play a high part in tire ware. Quattro Audi with 40/60 all the time..with torque vectoring..if I drive to aggressive..bye bye 45k life. Sport mode is not a friend to your tires.
Thank you for showing how to access and clean the a/c condenser! Definitely going to add this to my annual maintenance!
Income Threshold is spot on…I had Tesla mobile ranger replace my air filters. Easy and inexpensive, probably under $60
You did it again. You made a very informative video and made it very entertaining with your quips and jokes. Thanks!
Just bought a Tesla Model Y last week, I've watched a few of your videos but this is the one that made me hit subscribe. Thanks for the laughs and good info!
I just found this guy videos and I really like the approach he uses to make the videos enjoyable and educational. Thumbs up!
Glad you like them!
Great video, Gjeebs! Informative and luv your asides.
FYI, another guy on YT showed that the smell come from humidity and especially when fan is set to HI when raining, so it's a good idea to reduce the fan speed when wet, that what she said.
Dude, great job!! I love the no BS style, which is surprising and rare nowadays. Subscribed
Just got my model Y performance last Friday and bumped into your video. Haven’t been so excited about a car like this since I started driving.
Love the model Y’s simplicity.
Super helpful!! Love the humor in this too😂😂 it’s a mindset for sure. LOOSEN UP
Great Vid I wasn't sure about the windshield wipers glad I came across this vid I just got my Tesla last weekend!
I bought a Performance model so I am not gonna worry about tire life. I floor it every chance I have and I love it
haha yea you are screwed there
Super helpful video that I added to my saved library to watch again when the time comes up to do the various service items. Don't feel bad about pitching the cleaning materials and floor mats. I have purchased those items with your codes and they are great. I have also purchased a bunch of the Into the AM stuff you sometimes pitch, which are also great. You have to try their bomber jacket. It is fully lined and the best ever.
Good to know! Thanks for the support and feedback!
I found this informative and refreshingly entertaining! Thanks for the great info!
That's always the goal!
The wife joke and IT Joke made me subscribe ha so relatable
Good video. Changing those damn air filters is a massive pain, especially when you’re 72. I had to make like a circus acrobat to get those swapped. Never again.
thanks for the video. God Bless
Appreciate the tips with a humorous spin.
Great how-to video, love your sense of humor. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Thanks for the tip about removing the speaker on the panel under the glovebox. I have just about broken the cable/connector trying to remove the cable rather than the whole speaker. I will use your advice in the next time I clean the evaporator and change the cabin filter. The fourth time is a charm, hopefully. I have 118K miles on my Model 3.
Very good/entertaining video, thanks!
"...I like this texture." Too funny! Enjoy your videos - informative and entertaining. Even bought some Hydrosilex for the interior!
G good job on hitting the radiator. That's the main cooling for the batteries. By cleaning it you increased the air flow and which will cool the batteries faster. Don't forget to look at your coolant level while you're there. 👍
I just use a bike pump to put air in my car tires.
I recently replaced my wiper blades after 7 yrs of ownership for the first time. Glad I did. Made a huge difference.
Yea I also use my bike pump totally ok!
Another very nice helpful video.
IT - Loved your comment!! Amazing how the MBA crowd categorizes all things tech as IT. Not the brightest bulbs in the room.
thank you brother for sharing ❤❤
One other big issue is put a screen on the front air intake for the Condenser, that keeps bugs bees and other vermin from plugging up you fine fin channels on your Condenser, great to prevent early AC compressor failures from over use due to plugged up Condensers. I did that day 20 of getting my Tesla new.
Love your humor man.
9:04 That “Sensor” is what you call a SPEAKER. 🔊 🔈
OMG! I didn't think you'd show my stickers! I just wanted to gift you something. So cool to see you around AZ! Thank you so much 😊 🚀🛰️
I have owned my model 3 over 1 year now. I have watched a 1000 videos on Tesla...
Yours might be the most practical one for an owner I have ever seen!
Plus... your sense of humor is as bad as mine!😂
Thank you
Very helpful! I’ll be doing this closer to 20k miles. Keep the Investigative journalism episodes coming 👌
Nice tips. My 2 cents is to replace wipers with silicone blades. They last years instead of months. Wally World carries them at a good price.
You are the living organism of my dreams. Tesla with an FL5. What else, bruh? Keep up the good work in making those videos. 👌👌👌
Love the video and agree. You are an inspiration for when I make my Tesla videos. I don’t like chill mode though 😂
Nice job!!!
Loved this video!!! Keep more maintenance videos coming!!! Also the jokes!
I'll never stop
Great tips 😊
A bike pump works really well to pump tyres.
A bit faster too with a floor stand MTB pump.
With a nice workout too
Great info and a funny guy, love it when Hollywood stars share their everyday tips!....
Set and forget it, I ❤ that and have dealt that too , good content, keep going 👍👍👍.
Dancing brain on drugs??? Good one👌👌👌
$1.17 Expensive? Good one!
"Its activated charcoal, so its not lazy charcoal", haha, that cracked me up.
LOL @ income threshold for cabin filter replacement DIY 😂😂😂. Great video. Very informative 👍
How’s your background noise “music “ lol!! The heck was that!? 😂
Mahalo for your videos!
Lost it when you said “like having a new wife”. Hahahaha 😂
Good to have the option, but I doubt I'll ever run my M3LR in Chill Mode. The quick response is a huge part of the reason I love my Tesla!
Replaced my air filters last year, with my limited maintenance skills reduced to operating a wheelbarrow I was impressed I got it done, a little tricky but done! 🤷🏻♂️👍🏼
Also going to try the glass cleaner since I’ve yet to find anything worth using. 👍🏼
geejeeeb, WOW wiper blade mode! DAMN this is smart we only have had our Tesla Y for 1 year loving your Ideas IT guy! I 'm same... I work at a VA Hospital OMY gosh the shT I see
The comment about going from Chill to Standard mode is true. I nearly always drive in Chill mode. Occasionally when I change to Standard mode it's so jarring it's like I did the accel boost.
Income threshold. That was good. I’m under 200,000 so I’ll do it myself. Good video
Great advice!! I laughed way to much also.
Great video! The cooling radiator should be foam sprayed with a HVAC cleaner spray bottle, soak in 5 min, flush with water in a little spray bottle for a best case scenario clean 😁
*Exactly, gentle acceleration greatly increases tire life.* 😂🎉😂🎉😂
I don’t have to, but click and and buy it, I ❤ that👌👌👌
Great.
Hi there, I just purchased the Kool-it Evaporator & Heater foam cleaner, my question is do you wipe out the compartment where you just sprayed this in before placing the filters back in? Thank you, Beth
The supermanifold is a 9 way heat pump valve; one of Tesla's real technological advantages.
Excellent video, can you do one for the X so I can learn how to do that on the X?
Would you please do a video on how to add coolant to the Model Y reservoir. Thank you.
A CAUTION! Be carefull when vaccuming that grill/condenser to not damage the very thin and soft fillaments, they are easy to damage, making the condenser less efficient!
Supermanifold is the brains of the HVAC System.
4:19 Okay that made me actually laugh out loud
lol this vid….funny guy. Enjoyed the sarcasm!
Great video! Does anyone know if Tesla service ppl would handle cleaning out the AC condenser? Think that's a bit too hands on for me 😂
I watched for the tips. Subscribed for the sarcasm. 😂
This guy’s funny, I like this.
Love all your vids! Question any plans installing or putting a nice break caliper cover? I’m planning getting for my Y. if you could post your tutorial vid that would be great! Thanks!
I would not do that, if anything just have them professionally painted
@@Gjeebs could you tell me the main reason not to install ? Thanks!
Dude, you dropped some dirt on your cabin filters to make it look dirtier!!! LOL. Don't do that it makes you look bad!
I always put a piece of carton on the windshield when changing my blades.
Better safe than sorry. With regards to smelly Teslas, I always activate car wash mode when washing it or in heavy rain so the fresh air intake trap stays close.
What’s the HVAC spray for? I don’t think you mentioned that in the video…
I’m at this point where I watch his videos for his jokes. I’ve reached a new low, just kidding great channel!
How well does the ceramic glass coating work on the rear window? Looking for something that get's condensation off my model Y now we're getting into winter. The lack of a rear wiper does bug me and the rear glass heater dosent do a lot in clearing water.
I use simple RainX which you spray on a cloth and wipe..then let it haze over..then buff off. It stops moisture from Dew and keeps dirt from sticking.
Thank you so much for the video. I have a 22 MYLR and we have as bout 66,000Klm on it. So about 40,000 miles. But we love it. How do we know if the filters need be replaced?
sometimes you get a weird smell but I would replace yours asap. either do it yourself or have Tesla do it I bet they are a mess after that many miles. the ones we changed in this video were only after 1 year
Most service centers for ICE recommend based on mileage..I would guess EVs are no different. You definitely need to replace and clean your engine bay probably.
Why am I watching your videos, I don’t own a Tesla?
I drive in fastest mode for the rare case of needing the power. And not long ago, I needed it to avoid a vehicle.
"Hold this so you dont slam this metal piece on your windshield"
- Slams his metal ring onto the windshield
The moment you said "pee on it" I hit the subscribe button lmao
The one thing I noticed is be careful when you vacuum the AC condenser because if you smash the blades down it's not going to work as well
Would this apply to the Tesla model S also?
I took my Y into the Tesla service center in east Mesa and a few months later when replacing the 12v battery I found a nice screwdriver left behind by the service guys. I also noted that they forgot a clip or two.
They did not screw any screws back on my frunk after last service. Just left them in the frunk for me to find next time..
I used them before as well and they left stuff all through my car
😂. It happens. Had my an older audi before my newer one..had the high pressure washer service done on my engine due to bad carbon buildup..it was a tsb and was covered under an extenended manufacture warrenty..long story..they had to decouple my exhaust assembly for it..and left it uncoupled when they gave it back to me. Terrible rattling... took it to my local indy shop...bolted back up..all good. Yah, service centers leave junk or forget to bolt shit back. It happens to everyone.
Great job but an AC Condenser should also be cleaned no just vacuumed. Here is BC Canada we get mildew and moss buildup, and there are many foaming cleaners specifically designed for the aluminium fins and coils that will give you far better cleaning of the Condenser (the large radiator in the from). I did my air to air ductless heat pump Condenser on the house and reduced my energy consumption by about 30%. My 2023 Model Y long range AWD (Fremont built) here in Canada, is just shy of 1 year old, The Model Y's are now coming from China.
What window washer fluid do you recommend? I’ve heard the ones with the bug remover can cause issues for teslas.
I am going to do a dedicated video on this after some research. If they cause issues for Teslas they cause issues for all vehicles
The shades discount code doesn't work for the Model 3 version :(
Wiper blades out of stock, great recommendation!
They sold out because of this video nothing I can do
I seen someone using a extremely cheaper version of that evaporator cleaner and they said that it worked perfectly fine. I see it being sold for around $5 on amazon and not $70 like that bottle you're holding. Just saying. I don't need the Starbucks version of the cleaner. Also working at a Sears Auto Center as a teen, from what I've seen. I am paranoid taking my car anywhere. Besides it's relaxing to do these things. You get to see parts of your car that normally you wouldn't.
Driving around in 'chill mode', forget about it.
Question: what aftermarket item do you have installed on the underside of the Frunk lid?
that’s all stock I haven’t done anything there
Thumbs up for outside the bun thinking on the plastic piece protecting the wiper replacement parts. Also, for changing out cabin filter... the Tesla Owners Manual no longer shows removing the trim below glove box as necessary to get to filters. Is that because newer models can get to filters by just removing center console trim... or all teslas can get there without removing trim below glove box?
Not sure why it doesn't list those. As you can see they get filthy so I would still replace it.
@@Gjeebs sorry for any confusion. My comment wasn’t about replacing the air filters themselves (completely agree they get filthy) but how to get to them. In your video you remove trim below glove box and also trim on side of center console. OM now says you only need to remove trim on side of center console to reach the air filters.
I plan to lose weight - about 20 lbs. Hope it will help
12:20 was that a pun? Of course it's a super bottle.
Ser the pee windshield cleaning method you suggested left the inside of my vehicle with urine odor. Maybe I should've used a clean towel when trying to remove the "vape layer," on the inside after the exterior urine cleaning.
